no..no..
i meant, using hardware buttons..
i am just checking if i am the only one, or this is an overall phenomenon..
I am also not able to get into recovery using hardware keys, only using adb.
Oh man I thought it was just me. Updated a few days ago and then today I needed to type in Japanese but my keyboard isn't giving me kanji options, so I wanted to wipe my cache partition... but I couldn't go into recovery ugh

Drivers installed, OEM unlocked, USB-debugging allowed. but where can i able ADB access?
typing adb devices shows:
List of devices attached
3200e2545b6cc53b offline
Ok there we go:
-use other USB port
-update your platform_tools, adb and fastboot!!!!
-disable and enable "USB Debug"

Have you tried to fastboot a recovery image?
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Where recovery.img is the full path to your correct recovery image on your computer
ie:
Code:
fastboot boot C:\recovery-RA-sapphire-1.5.2.img
i tried doing that but it said
FAILED <data transfer rate failure <too many links>>
**nvm, it worked now**
hm i'm still relatively new to Android, but don't you enter recovery mode through home + power and not menu + power?
wow, I could of sworn I used to be pressing menu + power..Guess I haven't flashed a new rom in a while.
I thought it was Back + Power!?
back + power (and volume down + power) gets you to a boot screen/status screen where you can check motherboard and radio.
home + power is how I've always gotten to the recovery screen
Hello guys. I just got my N5 and ofc rooted it , unlocked bootloader. Then when I booted it into recovery mode ( CWM recovery) I did factory reset as ussually. Then I realised that all my files on card were deleted os I couldnt even flash CM. I tried to pull off the battery. Right now phone does not want to boot into fasboot mode or normal boot. But it can be seen via pc. Is there any way to fix it? I am sure in 99% that this is a problem of deleted software not hardware. Right now its coneted to pc and the screen is on ( but it does not show anything. just pure black).

Connect the phone to the pc and type in cmd: adb devices (should see a serial number), if so type: adb reboot bootloader. Do you get into bootloader mode then? BTW did you format data or data factory reset?

And when i run it once again it says only "List of devicies attached".

Hello i tried to flash twrp recovery on my htc 820u but i think it didn't install. Phone was still working correctly until i tried to do a factory reset. Now it will just boot into recovery every time and i have only a black screen. the phone vibrates when i touch the screen but i cannot switch it off. when i reboot it just goes back to recovery.
Can anyone suggest something please? Is there a way to prevent the phone from booting into recovery?
PS: I'm on lollipop 5.0

You must not duplicate the post in different forum for the same topic.
Anyway, do it as follow:
1. Connect your device to the PC once it is booted into twrp recovery
2. Copy your Lollipop recovery to the device over adb: adb push recovery.img /external_sd/recovery.img
3. Run: adb shell
4. Run in shell: dd if=/external_sd/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p44
5. Run in shell: reboot
If the device reboots into stock recovery, press and hold vol up + vol down + power until the display goes black. Release the vol up button immediately (while still holding other buttons). Device will reboot into fastboot. Select reboot from the menu.
Hope you are back to business.

By any chance would you happen to know why the twrp shows black screen? it is still functionnal, would it be because of incompatibility with lollipop? and any way to fix it?
PS: it worked fine on kitkat.

What can I do when (for step 2) I do not have a recovery? Can I use one not coming from this Phone?
I did encounter the same "reboot to recovery bug" but I got it from updating the SU Binary.
Hope you can help me.
Hi guys, same problem here, with twrp apparently functioning but nothing displays on screen. Also, impossible to boot the device properly.
Tried the whole adb procedure mentioned above, did nothing as far as I can tell. Trying to reboot from fastboot leads to the HTC green boot logo, but no further... What should I try now ? Is it possible to inject a stock rom from HTC and where can I get it ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
thank you this helped me too

My vol- is not working. Is any way to flash new ROM without using vol button?
Thanks.
You can use an app like advanced rebooter or even kernel auditor to reboot to recovery if that is what you mean.

Yes, I find how to get advanced reboot menu in OPO.
Next question - can I reboot my phone from bootloader without using vol +/- buton?

When you are in fastboot mode aka bootloader you can give the command fastboot reboot to reboot the phone.
hello i m to unlock oem from adb and reboot tablet but it won't start only restart and go to boot mode volum down not working to choose fastboot
If english isn't your main language then use google translate and I'll try my best to understand.
Anyway, does adb recognize your device? Does adb devices returns devices attached and a serial number?
If so then try adb reboot bootloader
Or try manually booting with volume buttons, usually it's (Volume Up + Power) combination, on some devices it's (Volume Up + Volume Down + Power) combination.
You have to enable USB debugging and oem unlock in settings for any of this to work.
After successful booting to fastboot. Use fastboot oem unlock for older devices or fastboot flashing unlock for newer devices.
Then use fastboot reboot after successful unlocking. Note: Most devices use prompt to confirm bootloader unlocking which in turn requires the user to select "yes" with volume buttons.
If your device doesn't boot to bootloader and you have oem unlock and usb debugging on and tried all of the above. Then most likely your device bootloader cannot be unlocked, which explains why you can't find your device in XDA forums.
I did all of the above, but after unlocking oem, this is what the picture became
volumn down not working
I'm not following here, what exactly happened? Did you unlock the bootloader?
yes I unlocked the bootloader but after fastboot reboot it does not turn on it reboots only as shown in the video
Try booting into fastboot again and using flashing unlock_critical
I can not enter the fastboot mod because it does not work for me volumn down
Is your device detected on your PC? Try adb reboot bootloader
after unlocking oem, the tablet does not turn on and does not see the pc
Try connecting the device to your PC while pressing volume button to boot to bootloader. If it still doesn't boot then you can only fix the volume button.
Can you tell me what's your device model?
my model is x101 china model tablet .
boot only working volumn up
I can not choose boot mode
I never saw a bootloop after unlocking bootloader before. Maybe you modified your device in anyway before doing this? Like one click root apps or anything whatsoever?
If you can get volume down to work then you should be fine. Also try power button too pressing it should have the same effect as volume down.
I haven't modified anything. only the power button does not work only the volume up and the volume down is not pressed Please help me how to recovery system

Is your device battery removable? If so, remove it and wait 5 minuets and connect your device to your PC while pressing volume button to boot into bootloader.
If not then completely discharge your phone and wait for 24 hours. and then try connecting it to your PC while pressing volume button to boot into bootloader.

Hence the reason not buy cheap Chinese products. You can only take it to a service center to fix the volume down button.
