Hello I am interested in buying the Mi MIx 2S 8GB 256 GB, but I have a few concerns.
1- i found this out on frequency check:
frequencycheck.com/carrier-compatibility/Y0VKtoe/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s-premium-edition-global-dual-sim-td-lte-256gb/etisalat-egypt
I would like to know if its true or not, that it wont support LTE band in my country ( although the band is listed in the Device description)
2-Do you have any idea when to expect a global rom ?
3-I am buying it from JD.com - Because AliExpress and Gearbest are very pricy. So i was also wondering if it would be easy to install Google services and use the phone normally and get rid of Xiaomi bloatware or some of it at least, until global rom is available.
4- Is it true that It should be easier to make custom roms and thus installing them for this device, wouldnt have to wipe phone every time i do so, or ??
5-What are Mi Mix 2S Daily MIUI Builds that i found here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/how-to/mi-mix-2s-daily-emui-builds-t3775064
is it worth it or waiting for an official global rom is a better alternative ?
Thank you.

1. Can't help you there sorry:/
2. As soon as they start to sell it officially in countries outside China, I don't think there's already a date for that
3. Yes, it's easy, you can read about it in the xiaomi Reddit wiki here. lots of information there for other topics too
4. I think it should be easy because of project treble. My current understanding is you only have to wipe the phone completely if you go from miui to a aosp or cm based custom rom or the other way around, if you flash for example resurrection remix and then want to flash omni rom you don't have to do a full wipe
5. I don't know about these daily builds but I will test them as soon as I get my 2s
You can (according to stuff I read in other forums) use the chinese rom without any issues if you install the playstore and so on described in 4. I will do the same

Also when are you expected to get your Mi 2s?

Resurrection remix is a popular custom Rom, that was just an example to tell you that you don't have to wipe everything when you go from one custom Rom to another, but a factory reset is, as always, recommended. Wiping the whole data partition is only necessary if you want to flash miui after a cm or aosp based custom Rom or flash a custom Rom when you are coming from miui.
It will arrive within the next 20-30days according to the shop it ordered it (tradingshenzen).

You can try to use the code GBMBP on gearbest, on many phones you get some discount
Edit: Just checked it, seems like the code is expired
Frequencycheck has false info for Mi Mix 2S, claims it doesn't support any LTE bands.

I asked their local distributor in Egypt ( Although they don't exude much confidence, but they said for our 4G networks that seems to be the case although the bands of our LTE are on the lower models as well.
I am still debating it any way.

I tried to google a little bit and this is my conclusion:
These and these are the Bands used in Egypt and here are the bands supported by the mi mix 2s. According to wikipedia GSM 900 and 1800 are Band 3 and 8 and both supported by the standard version of mi mix 2s.
For 3g you need UMTS 2100 which is B1 and also supported by standard 2s and for LTE you need LTE B1 which is supported too. I'm not 100% sure about it, maybe just create a question thread on Xiaomi reddit forum to double check

Yeah those are the answers I found, But here in Egypt everything tech wise is a bit vague and no official website can be really trusted, which is why I didn't wanna risk it from the beginning ,but the price will probably lead me to that eventually If the flash sale plan doesn't go through.

This is the official FunkyHuawei thread for the Mate 20X.
What FunkyHuawei Supports Currently:
1. Firmware Installation / Unbricking
FunkyHuawei supports the Mate 20X for unbricking and firmware installation, but support has not yet been made public. This will be updated when it is.
2. Rebranding
Rebranding is currently not possible on the Mate 20X, even with root or unlocked bootloader. If this changes in the future, it will be updated.
Those who need to install updates and so on are welcome to contact FunkyHuawei support for help while the release of support for this model is still private.
Any other questions, feel free to ask them here.
Can you unlock the bootloader so it can be rooted?
Also, is there any difference in hardware between the 6/128 China version and the 6/128 Global version?
I see people mention google support, but how can it be impossible to install google stuff on a rooted china model?
Thanks
Hi, would these apps work on this version of the phone?
- Gboard, Google Pay(I usually use it for contactless payment), UK banking apps(HSBC, Barclays, etc)

I dont believe there is any hardware difference just maybe 1 let band difference. Chinese model will get updates quicker as the main base is in China so there update that model first . Google pay etc worked fine on my Honor note 10 which came out in August, call it the smaller brother which has no global ROM .
I personally prefer Chinese model , can delete most Chinese apps fine , yes some will remain and some Chinese characters in certain parts but still prefer Chinese model

@duraaraa,
I haven't been around here much since back when we goofed around with the Mi Mix (recall I sent you one I got so you could work on it since you didn't have one). Anyways, really glad to see what you have done with FunkyHuawei and all - impressive you turned your hobby in to a business so congrats.
I am curious about buying the global from your site. I am very likely to pull the trigger for one of these soon, haven't had a Chinese phone since my Mi Mix and Mate 9 (sold the Mi Mix ultimately for being to rough around the edges in terms of software and the mid range camera but kept the Mate 9 and was pretty happy with it for a while with no real issues once setup properly). Can you give us a summary of the finer points you see as advantages to getting a global from FunkyHuawei verse just getting a Chinese version with Play store already installed?
P.S. Anyone looking for a great unlocked Note 9 with bunch of accessories and whatnot send me PM.

I think you might have mistaken me for someone else about the Mi Mix, but I did work on the Mi Mix 2. I've never actually seen a Mi Mix 1 in person
The Chinese version uses various Chinese services instead of Google Services, and some of those can't be changed. For example, for location services. For the default voice assistant. And so on.
I've heard that OK Google doesn't work on the Chinese version, while you can use it to unlock the phone on the international version, and so on.
I had thought that Chinese version wouldn't pass Safetynet, but I'm not sure. I've also heard that the Chinese version doesn't allow you to change the default launcher. The dual app feature supports whatsapp and facebook on the global version, but wechat and chinese apps on the Chinese version, and so on.
If you don't live in China, getting the global version will work out better for most people.

Certain google things can be installed on the Chinese model. But google is baked into the non-Chinese model. So things like OK Google (to wake up the phone), google assistant as default, Google used as location provider, and so on, will be available only on the international model.

How can I know if my Realme phone has the Chinese ROM, or Global ROM, (besides the label on the box)?
Is there a section in the settings app that provides such info?
Also, if a malicious seller installs Global ROM on the Chinese variant hardware and tries to pass it as a genuine global variant, how can I identify such fraud?
Or, can I just enter the IMEI on a website fo check its ROM edition?
P.S. I have never used a Realme or OPPO phone.
( In Xiaomi phones, Global version phones have "MIUI Global" written in their phone settings' About section. Also, these phones have ROM codes ending in ***MIXM. While Chinese version phones have ***CNXM. Is there a similar info to be found in Realme ColorOS Settings?)

There is barely any difference between the two but Chinese Rom is different because it's codename isn't Realme 5 Pro but Realme Q. It's almost impossible not to notice. If you had Chinese rom in settings about phone there would be Realme Q under model label, not realme 5 pro. Furthermore in case you didn't notice that there would be preinstalled Chinese market and apps and less or none Google stuff.

If the seller for some reason put global rom on your model which was made for Chinese market (which I highly doubt for it's no easy feat and takes time+effort furthermore it'd not worth it from the perspective of the seller) then there's no way you could notice that.
Except if you're a very advanced user like me. There are tiny differences between Chinese model hardware and global hardware so you shouldn't worry. There are two key differences (which I think are rather hardcoded than hardware limitation). One is that Chinese Realme Q has smaller system partition size for Chinese rom uses less storage because missing Google stuff. Other is global and Chinese variant modem antenna seems to support different 4G bands. Obviously Realme Q supports bands that are frequently used in China while global supports bands that are used in worldwide. This means Realme Q hardware is limited thus doesn't support European B7 and B20 4G bands.

Yes. And more obvious.
Chinese market>Realme Q (RMX1971CN)
Global>Realme 5 Pro(RMX1971EX)
But don't bother trying to find device codenames with non-root apps. They don't make a difference between RMX1971CN and RMX1971EX.
Some extra info and details:
I ordered a Realme Q from China via AliExpress last October. Since then I'm using my device in Europe, Hungary and I'm in love with it. All the technical details I shared are results of personal testing and debugging. I'll tell you why you shouldn't worry about a Realme Q sold as a Realme 5 Pro.
If a seller wanted to do this for some reason they'd need to ask for official bootloader unlock from Realme. After getting the unlock approval (which isn't nearly sure for monthly unlock cap is 1000 device) they'd need to flash a custom recovery on it and clean flash a Realme 5 Pro global rom on the device. Fastboot flashing doesn't always work with this method. Furthermore because Realme Q system partition isn't as big as Realme 5 Pro's there would be complications.
After successfully flashing Global rom on the device the seller would need to flash back stock recovery and relock bootloader. This would likely confuse the device and cause bootloop. This whole procedure is timely, lots of effort required and some serious skill. As conclusion it is totally pointless and not worth it for any seller. The procedure is nearly the same on Xiaomi devices. So such logic applies there as well.

In some South/Southeast Asian countries, Chinese versions of phones sell cheap, but obviously people want the global version. That's why sellers used to do such scam. It seems unbelievable but it used to be very common in countries like India. But after makers like Xiaomi locked down their devices (e.g. bootloader unlock waiting period, anti-rollback protection, ROM flashing requires unlocked bootloader even if it's meant for the same device, etc.), this practice has all but disappeared. I wasn't really sure if a newer brand like Realme would have similar protections, but seems like they do have them. So I guess I'm covered.
And thanks for your comprehensive answer. It's really helpful.
On a side note, does ColorOS/RealmeOS have these features built-in: call recording, screen recording, dual-apps/clone-apps, second space/parallel space, etc.?

Hello. Im planning to upgrade my phone to a 'gaming phone'. Which as follows:
Red Magic 6, Lenovo Legion Duel 2, Xiaomi mi 11 Pro, Asus ROG 5, Black shark 4 pro?
The main problem is with software updates. From what I can find online, about 3 of the 5 phones listed, have really bad support. Pretty sure some older models are still stuck on android 9 and 10 on the global versions. While on the CN version, they are regularly updated.
So I was wondering if I could use the CN ROM instead, if support for the global ROM dont exist. If anyone with experience could share the pros and cons or insights, it would greatly appreciated.
Sorry if I sound really noob, because when it comes to mods and stuff, I have no experience at all. I would have gone the easier route with samsung, but these phones have specs that I am interested in trying out. Just that it would suck if I missed out on future android updates, like android 12 or something.
Thanks yall.

I think global roms are better than China roms here's why
First reason why global roms has google apps pre-installed
While china roms only have google apps installed on older china roms devices the newer phones with china rom does not have google apps pre-installed u could try flashing a custom rom to get google Apps pre-installed but I don't know exactly if it's gonna work
Second reason why global rom Is better is the bugs
On china rom their more bugs than global rom
Third reason why it's better is how it feels global roms feels better than China roms because global rom feels faster than China rom
