With all that it does not decrypt EMUI 8 encryption but instead it wipes
Hence do not use it with stock AL10 Oreo, you will need to Factory reset from eRecovery
See eg

technically it seems to be by someone called ICERYO on the chinese huawei forums

Yes but this is my file.
No problem but you can like or do a small donation
If you want.
You can use my file but in the description of the thread list me.
Thanks

Bro thanks so much for list me

Guys, if using this TWRP and after wiping Encryption (and fixing Encryption?!), would it be possible to flash back update* zip files (by TWRP) to restore stock Oreo (AL10c00b540)?
To continue use stock Oreo but also to have TWRP accessing Data and Internal memory?
Something like, what was described here for Honor 8:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/twrp-honor-8-emui-8-t3886862
Also, @rambik33 opened another similar thread, but unfortunately with no further how-to details
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/data-encryption-eva-tl00-t3931230

@zgfg
the twrp here is chinese roots
the twrp on honor has only english and russian languages
the twrp of @rambik33 has no proof that its on 8.0, just it could be that same like honor 8 thread because he is from belarus

@rambik33 - did you please use this TWRP (from Post #1 as above):
TWRP-8.0.0-EVA-DECRYPTION SUPPORT.img
in your Decryption for stock Oreo TL00:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/data-encryption-eva-tl00-t3931230/post79548164
Did you flash it by Fastboot to eRecovery, or you just used it from Recovery?
And/or, any other TWRP needed?

But why cannot you flash directly by Fastboot to eRecovery, like:
fastboot flash erecovery_ramdisk TWRP-8.0.0-EVA-DECRYPTION SUPPORT.img
And then you don't need the other TWRP in Recovery (TWRP-3.2.1.0_Mod_9.img - was this your other TWRP?

8/9 emui cant flash twrp to erecovery directly. Only via twrp.
For descript data i use another twrp, then restore folder hw_init and then use twrp...mod for mtp.

Finally, why it must be in eRecovery, cannot you just use TWRP-8.0.0-EVA-DECRYPTION SUPPORT.img from Recovery to Format Data and Fix encryption
Or it must be in eRecovery because of flashing update_full_EVA...zip and update_data...zip

Because it doesnt work and wont work.

Ok, flashing from Fastboot to eRecovery (erecovery_ramdisk) fails.
For flashing to eRecovery, Russian TWRP for Honor 9, TWRP-3.2.1.0_Mod_9.img from 4pda was used:
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=934177&st=60#entry82590973
---
Edit: Revised Storage decryption guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80029346&postcount=1843
Easier, shorter (no need for Russian TWRP), with Internal memory, NW patch, Face unlock, Magisk and its modules, even ECO Kernel - all surviving decryption (no need to back-up / install and configure them again)
---
So, made it for P9 dual SIM, rebranded to EVA-AL10c00b540 Patch02, with Network and Face unlock patches from @Tecalote
Credits to @rambik33 (made it for DL00c17b540), and to @ant0nwax (experimented and made it also for AL10c00b540)
* From Fastboot, flashed Russian TWRP to Recovery
* Rebooted to Russian TWRP in Recovery and from there:
- Flashed Chinese TWRP, TWRP-8.0.0-EVA-DECRYPTION SUPPORT.img from post #1, to eRecovery
- Flashed also ''regular' @Pretoriano80's TWRP P9-EVA-8.0.0-TWRP-v4.img to Recovery
* Rebooted to Chinese TWRP in eRecovery and from there:
- Format Data
- Flashed update_data_full_public.zip (from FullOTA b540), with Success
- Flashed b540-update_full_EVA-AL10_all_cn.zip @Tecalote provided based on TWRP logs from failing to flash the original update_full_EVA-AL10_all_cn.zip), with Success
- Fix encryption (all in that order)
* Booted to 'new' System to perform basic set-up, without configuring WiFi and accounts, and without restoring apps yet
- Dual SIM worked but VoLTE settings got lost
- Face Unlock settings were present
* Rebooted to Pretoriano's TWRP in Recovery
and/or Chinese TWRP in Recovery
- They both now read Internal memory and Data (as well as Cache, Dalwik) partitions
- Hence, they now also save their settings (check by rebooting to either of them
- Flashed (from either of the two TWRPs) Enable-Huawei-OTA.zip and stock Recovery AL10c00b540-Stock-RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img to Recovery
* Rebooted to System and configured WiFi (there was no keyboard, installed GBoard from SD card)
- Settings / About showing Patch02 but System Update notifies for OTA Patch02
- Successfully updated to OTA Patch02 (still with Chinese TWRP in eRecovery)
* Rebooted to Chinese TWRP in eRecovery:
- Flashed (my P9 is dual SIM) EVA-L19_b540-DualSIM_NetworkPatch-v2.6.zip (when you reboot to System you will see that VoLTE settings are present back) and VIE-EVA-FaceUnlock-Oreo-v1.5.zip
- Flashed Russian TWRP to Recovery
* Rebooted to Russian TWRP in Recovery:
- Fllashed stock eRecovery AL10c00b540-Stock-ERECOVERY_RAMDI.img to eRecovery
- Fllashed Pretoriano's (or Chinese, if you wish) TWRP to Recovery
* Rebooted to just flashed TWRP in Recovery:
- Flashed patched Ramdisk for Magisk v19.2
AL10c00b540_Patch02-Magisk_v19_2-Encrypt_AVB-Ramdisk.img (root)
* Rebooted to System, installed Magisk Manager and configured Google account
- SafetyNet ok, Playtore working fine and showing Device Certified
- Now, apps, settings, data can be carefully restored/reinstalled
All resources and utilities can be found on my Mega:
https://mega.nz/#F!JwkVyRya!Rb7OUE0z3PEpXBRxGOM-vQ
NOTE 1:
Procedure as above did not wipe Internal memory (only Data, Dalwik and Cache) but it made Internal memory also accessible to TWRPs
NOTE 2:
Russian TWRP is for Honor 9 and not recommended for Huawei P9, but only that TWRP has the option for flashing to eRecovery (and Fastboot cannot flash to eRecovery either).
Hence, when we need so, we temporarily flash Russian TWRP to Recovery to use it for flashing to eRecovery (Chinese TWRP or back the stock eRecovery), but immediately after, we flash Pretoriano's (or Chinese) TWRP or stock Recovery back to Recovery.

Still useless, it does nothing more than our versions. Completely BS that thing.
zips arent flashable without HWOTA or HuRu.

It is useful, because of Nandroid backup
And update*.zip files are flashable, please read the post, it was updated

my playstore, google account on chinese ota factory resetted phone was not working and flashing the public update zip via TWRP made them work again, so @dkionline i would say some update zips ARE flashable in TWRP

I might as well post this here -> -> How to: Root and repair data on the FRD-L04 - B320
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70266853&postcount=262
Will android pay stop working even if I use the official beta 7.0?
Thanks man, but is there any successful way to flash B324 so far?
Is Wi-Fi calling enabled in this beta?
Managed to do the same using Charles app (see https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...-to-nougat-t3510275/post69885525#post69885525) without any unlocking and flashing.
I have the FRD-L04B567 phone. I installed the TWRP for the Honor 8. I have installed a different ROM (CM13.1 ROM) successfully. I followed your instructions to the "T" in post #1 . The install of update.zip stopped at /cust with an error. I tried wiping and rebooting but am stuck in the "honor" bootup screen. Unable to force back into TWRP or fastboot or ADB at this time. Still picking up the pieces....
UPDATE: I forced phone into Huawei eRecovery screen and selected factory reset/wipe That got Nougat running but there is no keyboard and Google will only allow voice for any input. Since my wifi is encrypted, I cant give Nougat a password to get on the internet. I am creating a temporary unencrypted network to see if I can get further.
UPDATE: TWRP was wiped so I will reinstall. Then I will try update the regional update (second update mentioned)
UPDATE: Reflashed TWRP 3.0.2.0 for Honor 8, I can get into the bootloader but not recovery, eRecovery works but...(worthless). I cant flash the second update.zip because I cant get TWRP started. Obviously 3.0.2.0 is not compatible with Nougat, I may try 3.0.3.0? why not...
UPDATE - Flashing TWRP 3.0.3.0 was dumb. Now ADB sees the device (good) but I can not get to bootloader or recovery. TWRP flashes (displays) once a second and will not start (bad) . Hopefully someone can learn from my quest.
So, can someone help me proceed from a state where ADB sees the device? thanks Maybe extract update.zip?

Thanks for the reply, I finally got TWRP 3.0.2.0 for Honor 8 flashed (but now it won't work), I believe Nougat and TWRP aren't compatible. Huawei Hisuite said that phone was fine and recovery not necessary??? I disagree. I think I will have to wait for TWRP that is Nougat compatible with FRD-L04

If you want to get back to any working state, i recovered from 7.0 unbootable to vanilla 6.0 like so (for frd-l09, but probably still applies):

// edit, also for completeness, i then flashed twrp 3.0.2 (official) and installed the cm 7.1.1 from the other thread here. All working fine.

Unbricking Mate 9 and go stock(Soft Bricked)

I know, i know there's plenty of resources over the net already and I already spent 10+ hrs on this.
I bricked my phone when SuperSU prompts me to install su binary. And it got me into bootloop.
Tried https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108 but failed at 61%
Tried the backup oem file method but TWRP kept saying permission denied when trying to backup
Couldn't find a way to import dload+Update.app file into internal storage without actually booting up the phone first. I didn't knew the exact directory for internal storage so I couldn't copy it from OTG
Bootloader Unlocked, Rooted(before recovery), using TWRP.
I wanna go back to clean stock firmware
Any helps would be appreciated.
ADDED: ITS ORIGINALLY OREO
Any luck? I have the same problem here ..
Still have unlocked bootloader & know the firmware version you were on?
Right. Go to Firmware Finder. Download the FullOTA version of it.
Get one of the firmware extractor utilities. You're going to want SYSTEM, KERNEL, RAMDISK, and RECOVERY_RAMDISK (or RECOVERY_RAMDIS, depending on the extractor).
Get into fastboot mode.
Flash those 4 items to the partitions named the same.
Reboot into recovery - you're now in an EMUI recovery. Factory reset.
Reboot.
You should be back to stock with an unlocked bootloader. If you've gone poking around with root or whatnot and might have modified one of the other partitions, don't relock your device - it won't boot. Instead, hwota8 or a NoCheck stock recovery are probably the way you'd want to go. (To be honest, I haven't used either. If I want to get back to full stock knowing it's not modified, I usually do a downgrade flash to Nougat through HiSuite and then upgrade again.)

Try this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
And use this TWRP with it (won't work otherwise, most likely): https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3783353
(Also, that TWRP has decryption support so you can backup /data.)
Search and download your fw from http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/
You'll want Update.zip, update_data_full_public.zip and the hw data zip. (Make sure it's actually for your phone, e.g. check region cust)
Rename update_data_full_public.zip to update_data_public.zip, rename hw data zip to update_all_hw.zip.
Put update zips and HuRupdater zip in the same folder on your sdcard/internal memory, flash HuRupdater with TWRP.
i have a question, im on mha l29 dual sim version with stock oreo magisk and twrp (368 update) how can i revert back to clean oreo? so i can get the updates normally. thanks !!

That is weird, considering that he only made one TWRP for Mate 9

[Recovery][Mate 10 lite]TWRP 3.1.1-0

TWRP 3.1.1.0 MOD CATUVA21
Code:
-
- I am not responsible for the damage of your cell phone if you do not correctly perform the steps
- loser warranty
- if you are not sure better not to touch and leave this page
hello with all, good I leave this twrp recovery, since there are several for this cell mate 10 lite.
this twrp recovery is not my compilation is a modification of the twrp of OpenKirin.
this recovery especially makes the best backup of the boot, cust, product, system, vendor and version partitions.
I have tried other twrp recovery, and it always has failures when restoring the backup in the partition data and product; at the time of restoration was without logo and without sound, the camera did not work, and other failures more.
with this twrp recovery does not happen, when restoring the backup it is very good without failures.
DETAILS:
- The partitions have been reduced and configured for their best facility.
- make a full backup.
- you can install partitions with img extension.
Requirements:
Bootloader unlocked
FRP Unlocked
Installation guide (*.img):
- if you already have another twrp recovery
- save the recovery TWRPMATE10LITE.img in the external memory.
- enter twrp recovery.
- click install
- select storage Micro Sdcard
- change to install image
- search and click on the image TWRPMATE10LITE.img
- and search for the recovery partition (not the recovey2) and swipe to install
- restart in recovery, you'll have a new recovery twrp.
Installation guide (*.zip)
- download and unzip the file to a computer with windows system.
- connect the cell phone to the computer in fastboot mode.
- run the TWRP 3.1.1 NOUGAT file
- follow the steps and ready.
how to make full backup
- enter twrp recovery
- click backup
- select the external memory (MicroSDcard), do not use internal memory
- select only boot, cust, data, system, vendor, product_image, and version (do not select Oeminfo)
- if it gives data failure, deselects the data data
- swipe to make the backup, and let it finish. that is all
for a backup?
- if you installed a custom rom, and did not like to restore your original system
- if you became root and have some failures
- every time you make some change and you can restore..

So far I've attempted to flash the S7 nougat dual speaker mod and the phone just ended up with no sound at all. I also tried flashing S8 oreo dual speaker mod and that also failed. Looks like we just have to wait until someone comes out with a dual speaker mod for oreo on the S7.
Thanks for the reply
i used twrp image 3.2.1.0
and for rooting magisk 16.0

As they work for any Oreo ROMs (and they could), you'll have no problem with this install .zip!
SuperSU is garbage for Stock, try Magisk instead of it
Magisk wasn't good for me in the past. At first, one Update for Magisk failed, and the Phone encrypted my Data. With the second attempt, it works, but the boot time was very long. About 3-5 Minutes. Since i deleted Magisk and install SuperSU everything is fine

Interesting topic
I read many failure topics about the s7 and oreo and root. Samsung seems to make it very difficult to root these days?
Latest twrp seems to have a mounting problem. So wich twrp is stable enough for an oreo update?
And if skipping twrp, (Because of ota and i use titanium for app settings and backup) has someone succes with magisk patched boot image and flash this with odin?)

first flashed btu nougat firmware with odin
then installed oreo (i did this before full oreo image appeared)
after instalation finished i turned off and installed via odin twrp 3.2.1.1.
it restatrted to recovery where i format data. then conected phone to pc and copied no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip and magisk, zip.
then installed both from recovery. rebooted and thats was all
Do you think, this will work: (Now I have root)
1. Backup everything
2. Flash 8.0 System with Odin
3. Boot into recovery to apply CSC
4. Flash TWRP
5. Install root + Systemless DevBase and other mods
6. Wipe Cache + Dalvik
7. Boot normal to system and keep the Data from Android 7
Thanks in advance
problem with no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip
root is working, but I am not able to access /data in recovery mode just after booting to system.
It was working before. I tried reboot to recovery or poweroff off/start recovery.
After flashing TWRP, I restart in recovery mode,
format data,
reboot into recovery,
then install magisk and opt-encrypt
Did I miss a step? Is there an order to flash magisk and opt-encrypt?
Thank you
I don't think that the /data pertition in encrypted, because the first boot with old Data took very short. Maybe TWRP can't read it with oreo.

Of course DATA partition is encrypted, that is where user sensitive information and data is stored, it gets decrypted each time the device boots
--
Android employs a straightforward block-level encryption of the data partition. Pre-Lollipop devices were using the old insecure encryption scheme that was relatively easy to break. Since Android 5.0, Google switched to new full-disk encryption that became significantly more secure. By default, the decryption key is stored in the hardware-backed storage using Trusted Execution Environment’s (TEE) signing capability (such as in a TrustZone). The data partition is decrypted with that key automatically once the device reboots.
https://blog.elcomsoft.com/2017/05/android-encryption-demystified/
It is encryped without root, but with root it is decrypted.
I can't access the /data partition with TWRP in Android 8, but with Android 7 it works. Both with root.

Hey ! Good job ! I tried building my own TWRP today but then noticed someone already did it ! Does encryption work ? I cant seem to decrypt the partition after flashing your TWRP.
EDIT : Couldn't wait, ended up formatting with encryption disabled via a zip + magisk
I've then proceeded to flash some GSI for Android 9 (even tried Q Beta 3) and if we want 9.0 one day, some heavy work will be needed : Cellular doesn't work; other than that, it all seems fine to me, camera is only 12mpx, front is 13mpx. Haven't tested more, i'm back to stock
EDIT 2: After comparing camera from stock and gsi, GSI wins easily. The camera is not as slow as stock.
Are there any decent ROMs yet for this phone? LineageOS would be fantastic.
@kgoerbig not to my knowledge. Maybe I'll try porting a 9.0 GSI soon.
I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but Umidigi posts stock ROM on there forum. Can ROMs be ported based on there code? Or is it more complicated then that?

I have tested LineageOS 16.0 GSI Android 9.0 (and many others ...) and it works well, even GSM and Camera.
The only thing I cannot have is a complete root : I install Magisk 19.3 correctly, but applications cannot get root permission (Titanium Backup cannot have su permission)

If you use the stock boot.img with an GSI system image, it will not boot, you must first flash Magisk.zip before reboot!
It will disable dm-verity, and you can boot after.
If it continue reboot in bootloader mode, use spflashtool to flash a stock rom and all will be right
Or if you have a TWRP backup, restore all partitions except boot/recovery/cache/system/data and you can boot
@ dreambo Can you make a writeup of properly unlocking the bootloader/rooting? Or did you use these methods?

You do not need to unlock you phone, mine is rooted with Magisk and have TWRP installed without unlock bootloader.
Just use spflashtool to flash a stock rom, but replace the recovery by TWRP and the boot.img by magisk_patched.img one.
Here how I do exactly:
1- in my running stock rom, I install MagiskManager and install Magisk by choosing the last option (patch existing boot.img)
2- give it your stock boot.img (extracted from stock rom) and it create for you /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched.img
3- use this to replace your stock boot.img and use also TWRP.img to replace stock recovery.img and flash the whole rom with SPFlashTool
Can you backup with TWRP with a locked bootloader? Isn't write access blocked with a locked bootloader?

Which boot file from stock did you use to patch with?
Downloadable from: https://community.umidigi.com/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=211
UMIDIGI One Max V1.0
or

I have used the European one, UMIDIGI One Max E V1.0
So I just received my One Max today. I was able to patch the boot image, and root the phone. I also, installed TWRP, but I'm running into an issue. From TWRP, I formatted with a normal wipe, It asked "Do you want to do this, it wipes data encryption Etc". I typed yes, and it did it's thing. Rebooted. Setup my basic settings on the phone. I rebooted back into TWRP, and it immediatly asked for a "decryption" password. It also won't allow me to mount internal partitions or sdcard. This even after I rooted via a patched boot file, and verified root access while booted in android (with root verify app). What am I doing wrong for TWRP to gain access to storage?
"Couldn't wait, ended up formatting with encryption disabled via a zip + magisk"
How did you format without encryption? I try to format from TWRP, type 'yes' , to verify, and encryption is still active. I'd like to disable encryption, so that I can properly backup everything from TWRP.

Search in xda forum a zip that you can flash with TWRP before installing the Magisk zip from TWRP.
its name is disable_dm_verity????.zip, it disable in the boot.img the encryption.
After that format the data partition (format and not wipe, it's important!) and reboot normally, and your data partition will not be encrypted

I eventually found all the correct files to remove encryption. I also installed AOSP. I'm kind of torn between the stock and AOSP. AOSP has better performance, but one annoying aspect is that I cannot find anywhere in the settings to switch the navigation buttons in AOSP (Back button is on the far left, I like it on the right side). Seems trivial, but it's annoying. I can now fully backup & restore in TWRP, which makes life a lot easier.

Do a complete backup of stock from TWRP onto microsd or USB first! System, data, modem, nvram partitions etc. That way you can restore from TWRP, and not lose os, data, or nvram (IMEI).
Specifically, system-arm64-aonly-gapps-su.img.xz
1. Download and extract file you downloaded, onto your phone.
2. Do a format (type yes)
3. Install from TWRP as "image".
