Adblock in Web + Youtube possible with HD 10? - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 General

Hello,
I'm evaluating if a HD 10 could be my first tablet ever. I would mainly need it for research and youtube videos. Also my kids should use it.
My main concern is: could I get a web adblocker working on the HD? Is eg Adblock possible in the fire browser? Can I install "youtube vanced" for having a youtube version without ads (or anything else)?
Could I install apps limiting the usage for my kids, without having to license any monthly-subscription apps for it?
Thanks a lot

It's possible!

Yes, you can. I recommend DNS66 because it works without root and is not very battery intensive. You can download it from F-Droid, an alternate app store. Here's a good article about it.

Yeah, just sideload a Youtube Vanced and MicroG APK. That's it. You can find rootless versions here. Note: These versions cannot save watched videos, watch progress or search history (for me).

Yes, your tablets ships with Amazon Freetime. You have to create a kids profile then you can restrict how long and what apps your kids use, check their activities and get a restricted kids web browser as well.
My six-year-old Cousin has a Fire HD 8 Kids Edition setup with Freetime and it seems to work.

[Q] Is there any way to download flash videos?

Hi guys,
Is there any way to download flash videos on our tablet? On my PC I can use a plug in on Firefox to do that but that does not seem to exist on Firefox for Android. There are quite a few Korean dramas that I want to download, but I prefer to use the tf700 instead of my laptop if possible.
Thanks.

tubemate works for youtube...
http://m.tubemate.net/
you just use the share function... but ... only works with youtube app!
I use TubeMate too, but 1) you can actually use it instead of YouTube app, and 2) it obviously ONLY works for YouTube videos. Jut install it, search for the title of the video, hit the green arrow in the lower right portion of the screen, pick "download" and choose the resolution desired. Et voilá!
Don't sites like keep-tube.com work? (I can't check atm)

I haven't tested either, but since they routinely require installation of plugins I wouldn't put too much hope on that. This works beautifully -- and a lot faster since it s(up)ports multiple connections.
I thought KeepTube only required Javascript, as it offers the download through the site itself.. Could be wrong, though. (It whined about Javascript when I had NoScript enabled on pc.)
It certainly doesn't require you to keep the video running, though. It doesn't record the stream, but rather plucks the video out of the flash container. Most of those sites work that way.
Thanks guys for your suggestions, but I have been using Tubemate for a while. What I am looking for is the ability to download any flash videos from any sites, not only Youtube (Youtube does not allow copyrighted stuff, so most of my TV series cannot be found there). For a site like Keeptube, it requires a Java applet, which Android does not support. I suspect there is no other alternative to Windows.
Hi friends, just to update you guys on my finding. It turns out the Flash Video Downloader plug-in is available for Firefox for Android. So effectively you can install Firefox on your tablet and install this plug-in to download almost any flash videos from any sites, not only youtube (I have tested it with a few websites and they all work so far).

And I learn of this after ditching FF for the stock browser... Somehow, I cannot thank via Tapatalk HD, but I'll just do it manually: thanks!

Youtube app

Figured this has been discussed many times, but could not find the details?
Was wondering if there was a way to get a youtube app installed on Webos that will play videos without ads? I know it may need to be rooted, so if thats needed thats ok. It seems like there is a way root now with 3.5 or lower.
I know with Android this is easy with or without root. So would like to do the same with LG SmartTV running WebOS.
you can probably add the urls for the ads to the hosts file which should stop them from loading

Can I do that not rooted?
URL blocking hasn't worked for well over a year with YouTube. PiHole and the like are ineffective.
You need a modified app that doesn't play ads, like you get for Android. I don't think one exists for LG WebOS.
Run youtube without ads on LG-TV
Have the Youtube app installed on the LG-TV (Useing this app direcly will always show adds on all youtube videos), if you have an android phone -Then google "YouTube Vanced" -its a modded adfree Android YouTube client, works on none rooted android phones. Run the app on your phone search for the Video then use icon to cast screen to the TV. Youtube app on TV will show the video without ads.
I guess you can do the same if you have iPhone and an youtube adfree app.

any update on this subject? unfortunately casting from Vanced is not a solution anymore, TV keeps showing ads which can be skipped after 5s of viewing. What is interesting - Vanced even displays a notification that TV is going to show the ad in a few secs
I just went to https://rootmy.tv from my LG TV web browser and it installed the homebrew channel, from that I was able to install the adfree youtube mod and disable my TV checking for new updates which might lose my root. It also includes SponsorBlock in the mod so it will skip annoying subscription reminders & in-video promotions.
Can you revert back if needed?

of course, if you just want to watch yt in the background - there are many browsers that allow this, e.g. : Brave web browser for mobiles to surf the internet which can also play YouTube videos in the background when the screen is turned off. Just you need to open browser settings– site settings – media and enable background video playback... but not to download (i think...)
With NewPipe what is the audio bitrate in background playback? Can I limit it to preserve the mobile data?
Inviato dal mio FIG-LX1 utilizzando Tapatalk
I have used newpipe for years and I love it, but I have a very strange problem if I use it with Google Maps: the two icons in the notification bar continue to switch position; I have uploaded a small video/gif demonstrating the issue: https://gfycat.com/uglyspiritedichneumonfly
Where's official support for NewPipe?, I assumed it was here but clearly not, I'm having trouble with downloads specifically ones over 1GB failing consistently, if someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it, thanks
When we are playing videos in background in audio only mode the data usage will be saved as video is not playing or newpipe will consume the same amount of data??

I thanks the developer of this great application!
Has always worked like a charm but strangely in the last few days It crashes, on the various device where I've installed it (be it android 5.1, 7 or 9), always when I click on a video. The other functionalities seems to work just fine (I.e. The New video of the subscribed channels shows up, the thumbnails work etc)
Is that a issue that I'm just experiencing or it's something that depends on YouTube making some changes?
Thank you for the attention.
Edit: And I have installed the last version available on fdroid

Update to the last version and you will solve
« Ma io sono già morto, e anche quella volta era una donna. »
( Spike Spiegel )
I see, I'm on the last version available via fdroid (18.1) i guess I'll have to wait that the 18.2 is available there.
Thank you anyway for the information!
Thank you for the very useful new feature that you've added in the last version (19).
I was wondering if you could add the possibility to limit the number of feed for certain channel in the news page.
I'm subscribed to few channel that publish several video per day so my feed is completely taken by those.
Is it something possible?
Great app, again thank you!
P.s. I've also noticed that, playing background music, on the lock screen only few times is displayed the thumbnail as a background.
I'm on AICP 14 (android 9)

There's an extension for desktop chrome and Firefox called YouTube adblock. Google how to add extension to mobile browsers, and you're set.
I am using a Lenovo Tablet K10 for watching YouTube and I tried several ad-blockers but most of them hardly work and YouTube would force you to go for premium subscription.
