Android auto - General Questions and Answers

I will put the question the best i can. I am a heavy user of android auto, my phone is the oneplus one with android 7.1. Is a rooted phone and i like to test things out. Installed car stream 2.0 in my phone and AAMirror, AA unlock and Aauto apps. the car stream and AAMirror only rarely worked the two together at the same time. To bipass this problem i usualy go to car stream and unlock the app, and go to Aauto apps, select the apps i want and then unlock too. I restart the phone everytime i make this procedures. But this don't work everytime, and is a bit painfull to make this work.
Today i was testing out something. I disabled root in all off the apps that i granted before and only gave root access to the 4 aplications i mentioned in the begining off the thread.
Now i have everything working fine, i have direct access to my phone via AAMirror and can watch youtube in car stream. So, something is not fully compatible with this apps, but i am glad because now i can do anything i want from my phone with android auto.
Can anyone explain why?
Thanks, and sorry for my bad english.

Mysterious Galaxy S4 Bluetooth Connection Problem

Well I'm back again, and I'm beginning to think that the Galaxy S4 is the most unreliable phone I've ever had to cope with, even though I love it dearly, it's been through too many problems in such a short amount of time. Anyway, let me cut to the chase. I bought a set of Sharper Image Bluetooth speakers and subwoofer about 4-5 weeks ago. Usually my phone picks up the speakers and plays audio without a problem, up until literally just now. When I came back from school and tried to connect via Bluetooth, it connected and worked for about 10 seconds and then my phone did a soft reboot on its own. I figured this was a problem with the music player I chose (PowerAmp), so I deleted it and attempted this again with the same outcome. I've tried u installing recently installed apps, virus scanning, hard reboot, removing the SD Card and I've even tested the speakers with another device to make sure it wasn't them. But now whenever they are connected to my phone, and my phone only on Bluetooth, All I get is a soft reboot. Bluetooth can be turned on without this happening but as soon as a connection is detected, guess what, soft reboot. I'm running stock firmware although my device is rooted, I've check apps that I've recently installed that may have access to my Bluetooth permissions but none seem to be the culprit. I also recently installed DUSpeed Booster and cleared my cache a few times, I don't know if the app may have deleted a necessary file or what but I really need a solution. I'm on the verge of getting rid of this phone once and for all. Thanks in advance!

Turn Old Phone Into iPod

I got a new phone and want to turn my old rooted Sprint Note 3 into a media player.
I won't be using it for anything except playback of audio (and maybe video).
I want it to run as fast and smooth as possible.
Please advise on the best way to do this, and:
- whether the phone will be more efficient by installing a custom ROM or just restoring to factory settings in the normal way
- If I restore phone to factory settings in the normal way, will I lose root?
- In either case, what changes/settings will I need to adjust for minimal processes running and maximum cpu/ram available?
- What is your favorite audio player app for local playback (I will load the phone with mp3s and m4as)?
Also, is there any way to turn off unnecessary programs from running (rooted or unrooted), as can be done in Windows (msconfig)?
I honestly wouldn't worry too much about any of that. Playing audio/video is not very demanding, and the Note 3 is more than capable for the task. You're basically taking a Hummer around the block to go through the Taco Bell drive-thru. I'd say do a factory reset (you shouldn't lose root, but make sure to reinstall SuperSU), install Viper4Android, and whatever other apps you think you might need. Sorry, I don't have much of an opinion on media players.
As for disabling apps, it can certainly be done, but apart from bloatware, I'd leave it alone. The Note 3 is a very capable phone, and it never hurts to have a backup device. Turn off (in settings, not disabling/uninstalling) features you won't use.

I'd love to get rid of the bloatware! What is the best way to do it? The only way I'm aware of is going into app settings, one app at a time, and selecting Uninstall.
Loved the hummer/taco bell analogy haha!

Is there a way to connect a new phone without factoring reset the whole watch?

Like the title says. Is there a way to connect the fully set up watch to a brand new smartphone? Sometimes i mess around with roms on my phone and well... everytime i use a new rom i have to restart the watch and start all over again. I even do Titanium Backup however that doesnt help , it still doesnt identify the device. Why is it that they dont allow multiple devices for the same smartwatch?

Cant stop HTC 10 Camera app from pausing music anymore on Oreo

I have an HTC 10 running Android 8.0
I used to be able to get around the camera app pausing my music by using my smartwatch to hit the play button again. After updating to Oreo, I lost that ability and it will not let me continue music playback after starting a video recording at all.
So I attempted a method to fix this that involved rooting my phone. So now it is rooted with a custom rom from "Bad Boyz" and has Super Su, TWRP, Xposed, and XPrivacyLau all installed. None of these things seem to have the option to disable the audio focus permissions for an app... they have ton of other crazy options though, so I think I'll keep the root.
I also tried using the command prompt to send the "TAKE_AUDIO_FOCUS ignore" command. I did not get any errors when sending the command, but the issue is still there. I event tried it again in root mode with the "su" command that turned the $ into a #. Neither worked. abd Shell has permissions in super su and everything...
So after a few days, I am stumped. Can anyone help me out here? All of the google searches turn up super old threads that don't apply to Oreo. In fact, I only rooted my phone because an old thread I found said that XPrivacy had the ability to edit the camera audio permissions. Xprivacy has been replaced with XPrivacyLau, but that does not have the ability to do it.. or I cant figure it out and cant find a thread. I have even found threads where people in recent comments verify that this feature works in Oreo. They are usually specifically dealing with apps like Pokemon Go, but other guides have had success on other smartphones with using the adb method on their camera apps. Could it just be an HTC thing?
Would it be worth it to get a different camera app?
Thanks!
I don't know if it helps, because I'm still on Nougat, but with Open Camera, I don't have that kind of issue, neither with earphones plugged into the jack, nor via Bluetooth. Worth a try.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I really like the stock camera app, but I have never tried a different one. There's a time for everything, though.

Samsung Dex on pc, now working for S10+

I installed smart switch which prompted me, I thought. "No that's a mistake I know it ink out works on the note 10 as I tried this previously"
I installed it and it was working, well some of it. See below.
*Refresh rate seemed to be lacking
*Resolution didn't seem as clear as the 1080 resolution on my laptop
*Sky Q didn't let me view "protected content, so audio was there but just a black screen.
*starling bank, same again. Black screen
*Email. Works fine
*Linux in dex. Works just fine!
I think this is all since I updated the phone over smart switch to SIG version. It's odd because when I checked in the phone menu there was no update, but it was on smart switch.
Now the question is, why would you need this? You are on a pc, but want another cut down pc? Simple I would add it to my work machine! That way you can jump into your email on a laptop. Maybe even play films from Mx player on the train by using your dex!
Many possibilities, which aren't apparent until you change your mindset
