Folks-
Anyone run into this. People can not hear me when I talk. I need to yell into the phone and they can barely hear me. I hear them fine. Went through some trouble shooting with Verizon and they are sending me a new phone. I suspect there is a setting or something like that on the phone. They suspect a bad mic. While I do not think they are correct, I can not turn down a replacement phone.
Anyone hear of or fix anything like this? Setting up a new phone took me about four hours last time. I will lose my ghost armor screen protector also.
JG
To rule out a mic problem, try recording a video clip with sound or a voice note and see how well it plays back. While recording, talk with the phone at waist level, then slowly move it towards your mouth while still speaking. If the video/audio plays back without sound issues, your mic is fine.
You didn't happen to tweak any settings in the audiopara.csv file ?
Thanks for the suggestion. I recorded a voice note and the sound level is so low that I can barely hear it. So I guess that the mic is not recording properly.
No, I have not screwed with any files. That is beyond my abilities. Thanks for the tip, I feel better knowing that my effort in setting up a new phone is for good cause.

Why will setting up your phone book take 4 hours? why not sync it with a computer to back it up first?

syncing contacts is the easy part (by far).
doing everything else is what really takes time. Ex: Finding the latest versions of your 15 favorite apps takes time. Then installing them. Then tweaking the settings on each of them. Then remembering that you needed to install .net 3.5 first. then downloading all the emails for each of the accounts that was set up.
So in summary, i really need to learn what is UC (user customization) and how to implement it when i start flashing cooked ROMs on my CDMA vzw TP2.
You could use a backup program - I have used SPB Backup, but there are several others out there. SPB Backup should be able to backup all your settings, programs, emails, etc. It should basically restore your phone back to how it is now. If I was going to be swapping phones, that is what I would do...

Congratulations on your new Purchase. The Tmobile LG G2x is a beast. Like all new devices, you may experience new service options and features you may not be familiar with and may cause some trouble down the line if not set up properly. We also want to make sure you are away of all of the known issues and some faulty units so you are aware and can check while still within a reasonable exchange window.
1. Get Connected! By default you won't be able to access the SD card via USB because it is defaulted to mount the Internal Storage, which requires the LG Driver.
To get around this, or if you only want/need access to the SDCard go to [Settings>SDCard and Phone Storage] and check "Mass Storage Only". This option doesn't require special drivers and will operate like most other phones.
The folder hierarchy is as follows:
Code:
Internal Storage: /sdcard
External Storage: /sdcard/_ExternalSD
1A. How to Delete your LG Drivers to use MASS STORAGE and to advert the Blue Screen of Death:
Obviously on Windows: Go to Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features find "LG Android Drivers" in the list and uninstall.
2. The first big problem on a few handsets is a backlight bleeding. You can test this by viewing a black screen in a dark room. You should have a solid color throughout. If you have really bad bright corners, you may be a victim of the bleed. While not quite a set back, it may be noticeable while watching movies or playing games in the future. If this is something that bothers you, I advise to swap it out for another unit.
3. There seems to be lots of "weird" issues ranging from grayed out options or behaviors such as lockscreen sounds not working. Most are assumed from faulty Titanium Backup restores or by simply skipping the initial setup. It is recommended that if you have done any of these things, to do hard format and set it up manually, recreating backups and program restores.
4. Like other later handsets by Tmobile, you may see WiFi Calling in the App Drawer. It works fantastic and is great for desperate times when you don't have available cell service. What you need to know is that it is ENABLED by default. The problem is WiFi Calling is designed to disable your actual Cell radio to save battery. What this means is that if you enable your Wireless and bounce around stores or in/out of WiFi service, you may be missing calls and messages while you are offline.
I recommend turning WiFi Calling OFF and enabling it only when needed.
5. WiFi is set to go into sleep mode after X amount of inactive minutes to conserve battery also. While a great feature, if used in conjunction with WiFi Calling, you may find your WiFi goes to sleep and you can start missing calls and messages also. To change this to go [Settings>Wireless & networks>WiFi Settings] + Hit Menu>Advanced]:
Change WiFi Sleep Policy to: Never
6. LG, like most other manufactures, develop their own drivers which may or may not be compatible with everything. With the LG G2x we are finding that some Bluetooth profiles may not play nice with your gadgets. Please check these as soon as possible. Some items may be Car Stereos, Specific programs using certain bluetooth profiles, and handheld gadgets such as gamepads or wireless speakers. Most will work but a few reports suggest the drivers may be off. Again, for your satisfaction, please check as soon as possible.
7. Root:
-Enable "USB debugging" [Settings>Applications>Development] and connect your phone to your computer via USB.
-Install ADB Drivers LG Driver.
-Run SuperOneClick: SuperOneClick
-Choose the option "Root".
8. Get rid of Bloatware using Root and Root Explorer (from market):
Here are a list of apps you can delete from the (/system/app/) folder:
Code:
AppPack
TeleNav
NOVA Demo
NFSShift
LMIRescue (LogMeIn.Rescue)
LMIRescueSecurity
EAPK = EA Mobile
MyAccount.apk = "My Account" and "My Device"
ZinioReader
ZinioSettingsProvider
9. There was also a report of using a HTC EVO Micro HDMI cable that shorted out the phone. This was a big deal over in the EVO thread. The problem is the way the cable was made and can short out with the external metal casing. If you purchased one of these I would proceed with caution.
10. If you want to make a solid backup of your current configuration or FLASH ROMS then you'll need ClockworkMod Recovery. There are two current methods to doing this. Both work but this is the best option because you can boot into Recovery via Volume Down + Power in case something gets screwed up and you get thrown into a Bootloop. The other method is by simply downloading Rom Manager via the Market and installing it that way. Although the second method does not allow booting directly into the Recovery console. So just do yourself a favor and download the latest ClockWorkMod NvFlash App for Windows
Feel free to add to this or perhaps add this information to the Wiki. Please give me a THANKS if this information was useful.
thanks, getting phone wendesday and will do all this. shouldn't the charging battery and discharge thing and factory reset be on there also from what i read.
Very helpful! Thanks a lot

Can you unroot with that method of rooting? I'm afraid to root because I'm not tech and android savvy and have no idea what I am doing. Plus, I have all macintosh computers, will downloading that stuff be a problem?
This is excellent. I figured most of this stuff out on my own, but for anyone still trying to figure out his or her device, you've pretty much taken care of everything. Needs to be stickyed.

Well Root just gives you admin access, which means you can do anything. Some programs require root to really get down to business, such as some of the better backup programs so they can backup a lot of the stock apps and personal settings.
Once you root there is no reason to unroot. It doesn't change anything, except permissions.
And not to worry, any application that requires root will pop up asking for access which you can accept or deny.
The main reason for Root is to use Rom Manager, which installs a custom recovery so you can flash custom roms and other files that can alter the look or functionality of certain parts of the OS. If you have no intent on altering the existing OS, you don't need root access.
Without Root, you will still be able to upgrade to new official upgrades and fixes.

Good question. On my Nexus One you hold the Track Ball, Vol Down, and Power. Lacking a trackball I guess there is not a way. Would be nice since there isn't a "Reboot" in the power menu on stock android.

Okay, well I plan on changing the look of the phone most likely, not I think mostly what I want to use it for is to delete bloatware like the t-mobile apps that may be using up a lot of my battery. Then is it worth rooting?
And also once you root it, is it complicated to alter the look and functionality?
My G2X and my Nissan Altima 08 doesn't go well over Bluetooth. No sound. I thought that was fixed in Froyo

Tricks to Make Your Android Smartphone Run Faster
Is Your Android Smartphone isn’t as Fast as it Should be: Here’s 10 steps on how to fix it.
In this fast generation, no one wants a slow phone every one want way to Make Android Phone Run Faster. When you first get your Android smartphone, it seems to work very well, things are fast and fluid responsive. But few months down the line, things started slowing down, many of us now have to settle for one as the hardware grows older, storage space run out, the number of bugs add up and reason for the problem is almost too simple to be true: your Android smartphone does not have the same settings, space and apps it had a when you first got it.
Most Android smartphones are prone to slowing down over time. However, this issue is not unique to Android. Device running iOS also encounter the same problem. The good news is that you don’t have to accept a slow Android smartphone their are way to make Android phone run faster.
Below are tricks and hacks we believe are efficient and effective to make Android phone run faster if you are experiencing a slowdown with your Android smartphone.
You haven’t got enough space
If you want your Android smartphone to run fast, then you’ve to do away with some stuff and junk files eating up space. Delete some apps, text messages, music and videos.
The Version of your OS met be out of date
One of the reason why you may experience slow down with your device is not because it’s old but because the running version of OS is outdated. If your smartphone supports the newest version of OS, updating should make things run faster.
You haven’t turned off your phone for a while
If your phone as being active and on for days without turning it off there are every possibility that this may effect to smooth running of the phone. Turning off your smartphone for a while is good. This will clear up things and shutdown some apps running at the background.
You’ve have too many apps
Too many apps mean too many apps eating up space that will enable your phone run properly. If you are pushing your phone memory to the limit, it’ll slow down. Try uninstalling some app or delete them completely.
You’ve got too many apps running
If you’ve too many apps open and running, there is high chance that your phone will slow down. Tap the minimize button and close all the apps by swiping it to the right side. That should free up some capacity.
You haven’t cleared your cookies for some time
Remember not clearing up your cookies for a long time takes up a lot of space. Clearing them up and staring over again should help make your Android phone run smoothly and faster.
Wipe Cache Partition
The cache partition on your phone contains temporary files which is different from your phone’s actual app data so it’s a good idea to get rid of the cache file every once in a while. Doing this will not only have your smartphone run faster but will also free up some storage. To clear up the cache files, you’ll have to enter your phone recovery mode. Once you’re there, find and select the ‘wipe cache partition’ option and just reboot.
Overclock your Android device
If you’re not satisfied with the overall performance of your smartphone, you can also overclock it. Many manufacturers maintain a low clock speed in order to minimize heat and extend your phone’s battery life. If you have a rooted device or are willing to root it, you can overclock it using an app like SetCPU. It’s not a straightforward process so be sure to follow proper guidelines and proceed with caution.
Too many app trying to access your location
Turn off your location to free up your C.P.U. to do that go-to Setting>Location and swipe the Turn on/off left to turn your device location off.
Do a factory reset
Sometimes, there are just too many things to take care of on your phone that you should just do a factory reset. It’s easier than cleaning up your device and getting rid of all the junk on your phone. By doing a factory reset on your Android phone you will wipe out all files, settings and data on your phone so make sure you’ve done a proper back up of all your files, app, data and settings before embarking on doing a factory reset.
The list above doesn’t necessary fixed up the problem. However, if after carrying out all of the steps and you still experience same problem, if your phone is still within warranty take it back.
Have you experience the same problem with your phone? How did you solve it? Share your experience and how you solve it via the comment box below.
TL;DR: I have a Nexus 7 2012 (WiFi) tablet, and I would like a device dedicated to providing me a way to stream music, preferably Spotify, without dealing with the somewhat heavy Android. How do I do this?
I have many old music systems at home, and all they have as input is the 3.5 mm jack. Currently, the way I deal with it is that I fire up Spotify on my phone and connect it up. I then use Spotify Connect through my laptop to control music. However, I would like to have a device dedicated to this (so that my phone's free, as I get a lot of calls), and I can't just run Spotify on the Nexus and leave it because Android ultimately kills it.
Is there a way I can make the tablet run just a small Spotify app, but not kill it all the time? Perhaps on top of a light Linux distro?
I have never rooted anything or flashed a ROM, but I don't mind doing that. Experimental approaches are okay, I don't mind bricking the device.
Why is it killing spotify though? is it some power saving feature that can be turned off? Or a bug that causes apps to crash after a while? I have a network locked junk phone that I just use for music, and it plays until the battery is drained.

Android OS in any case is needed, otherwise tablet won't boot up. Take note that when Android OS boots up it initializes and starts all the hardware drivers needed.

Oh the music plays alright! The app dies if I pause it. So I cannot pause, and then remotely resume a few hours later.
In any case, my major issue is that Android runs very slowly on this tablet, and I would like to do something about that.

It's NEVER Android OS what runs slow. If you experience device is lagging then these are the culprits:
High CPU usage
Running too many background programs
Virus or malware infection
No free internal storage memory space
Corrupt or fragmented internal storage memory
Overheating

I would start by doing a factory reset on the device and not having any unnecessary apps on it. If its system bloatware causing the issue, there's both root and non-root apps that can disable system apps. Maybe that version of spotify has a bug, and you could try sideloading a different version of it.

Done. I've even uninstalled a lot of stuff from ADB (ofc I tested with those installed too). The device is stock Android, so I don't expect real bloatware

Honestly it seems like it was designed as a feature, just seems like a bug for my use case. After all, it makes sense to put an app to sleep (or kill its process or whatever the term is) after ~15 minutes of inactivity.

Here is how I dealt with it. For options like whether or not I've removed apps, whether or not I'm signed into my Google account etc, I've tried every permutation on a fresh factory-reset.
Factory reset
Not logged into Google account
Uninstalled a lot of apps (even built-in ones) via ADB. I also tested on a fresh install with them.
Frequently clearing cache.
All software or files are official first-party (either Google or Spotify), so I don't expect malware. In its 9-year life, we never installed anything else ever.
About 5 GB out of 16 GB on the storage is perpetually free
Tried limiting the number of background processes via developer options
Memory/storage degradation is possible, some suggest online that it was poor quality. IMO, 9 years is too fast for a tablet that didn't see much heavy use though.
For overheating and high CPU use: what can I do if this is an issue?

Hello there! This is my first time in this forum so I apologize if this is not the right place to post this.
So, I need help with my Note 9
SM-N9600
One UI 2.5
Snapdragon I think
For a year or so now I've been having trouble with:
- Losing volume in my earbuds
- Experiencing lag in downloaded videos in Nike Training Club and Samsung Health apps
- And most recently the Google Play Store and LBRY apps have crashed a lot
It all first started after installing tutuapp. at first it was all normal but after a few months I first noticed my buds coming low in volume. Of course I visited every possible thread and blog and advice on the subject but nothing would work so eventually I went to a Samsung store and they offered to reinstall the firmware so I did.
It solved everything! until dummy me I reinstalled the app. It took a couple of months to realize that tutuapp was the source of all my troubles and when that happened I never installed it again, but... I now installed an APK and it happened again. It's worth mentioning that at the time I would only notice the low volume because I didn't use the exercise apps.
Anyhow, reinstalling firmware fixed it again and again (It took me a bit realizing that the APK was the source of trouble) until it didn't and now no matter how many times I reinstall it, my right bud is lower on volume and my left bud just sounds weird. Once I did a reset on the cache memory and it actually fixed the buds volume quality perfectly, although just for about a day and then back to broken.
So far it is clear to me that Samsung has no clue as to how to fix this issue nor care to fix it really, they find any little excuse to make their job easier instead of fixing stuff in my experience. Anyway, It's been so long and I'm a bit desperate to know exactly what the problem is, let alone fix it so I appreciate any help fixing this.
Please and thank you.
P.S.
I have posted this already in the Note 9 section but I posted here aswell due to an admin's advice as to get more exposure, a quicker answer and hopefully the attention of some android pro/veteran.
Verify the Buds are working normally on another device. If good try steps below, if not you got corrupted firmware on the Buds. Only Samsung can fix that.
Make sure your Wearables and Buds firmware are current.
Clear system cache, do a network reset and a hard reboot.
If still there start going through the settings. It may have toggle a visible one. Look under Advanced Sound Settings, play with those.
Go into Developer options and try toggling the codec setting, sometimes that will cause the needed reset.
Play with it.
It's better to find the root cause than to factory reset if possible otherwise it may reoccur.
If those don't get it... it likely is a hidden setting was toggled. Factory reload and don't use SmartSwitch!
Poorly 3rd apks that don't uninstall cleanly can break Androids. Limit apk sampling and well... now you know one of the risks. Being on Playstore is no guarantee something like this won't happen! Sample what you want now before the reload; install only known good apks after the reload.
Fun times, huh?

Advanced sound settings and codec settings... do you mind elaborating on those? What am I looking for exactly?
No smartswitch... why is that?
The thing that makes the most sense to me is a hidden setting since I have tried everything for so long... but which setting?
Thanks for the quick reply

Can say precisely where it it in Advanced sound settings as a Wearables update modified it on my device, that option is gone. Took Samsung years to fix that.
In Developer options it's under bluetooth settings.
If it's a hidden setting you have no access to it normally. You may be able to purge it by clearing the parent/dependency app's data. Obviously as a factory reset removes it, it's on the userdata partition but finding it can be difficult with no direct access.
Sometimes clearing system apks data in settings will leave a null mark and it will continue to misbehave. Been there, done that...
I know that Package Disabler will completely clear the data. In your case that's probably not necessary. In my case PD MDM saved me a factory reset, one reason I wuv the app.

Thinking about it... I don't think the issue is so directly connected to the buds. I feel like the buds and these apps are just side effects, if that makes sense. Btw this very app is starting to crash aswell as LBRY.
Some time ago I reinstalled the firmware and applied a backup and because tutuapp was in the backup and the samsung technician told me those apps cause trouble, I could delete it and fixed it after another reinstall, that's when I discover the real cause.
Having said that, I think the issue remains inside some file or setting I don't ever look at or change and hides in it. It may sound weird but something like a contact or photos or something, and I mention those because I don't change anything around those places but then again... I'm just lost.
Anyway, thanks for your help, I'll look around your suggestion and if what I said above makes sense, I'd love more ideas.

P.S. Bluetooth Audio Codec, found it!
It was on SBC, there are several options:
SBC
AAC
aptX
LDAC
Scalable Codec
All Codec
System Default Codec
Funny thing, if the option selected is not SBC, the word "streaming: AAC" appears in each case

You're welcome.
First use another device to verify the Buds are working normally before you go all medieval on the phone. Buds tend to be very reliable but you know how that goes.
Sorry, forgot about SmartSwitch. It's ok to use on the same device/OS version otherwise don't particularly if backing up settings.
In your case it could import the setting causing this issue.
Next reload be careful what you load. 3rd party apps have the potential to cause a lot of trouble. I watch my downloads and apps like a hawk.

Yeah, after I solve this all 3rd party apps and apks are out of the question lol.
I have test the buds several times and it's definitively my phone, it sounds weird with every kind of earphones I have tested.
I snooped around the Codec thing and while it improves the audio quality, unfortunately I can still distinguish the bug in there so I guess I will just have to come up with something else.
Thanks a lot mate!

Try doing a reset in the Wearables app that might purge the gremlin.
Wearables just updated, as usual Samsung made the interface worse, idiots. They buried the equalizer in the menu and put ambient sound control on top. A useless function I never use... morons. Guess I call them and chew them out a spell... I enjoy that

Oh, I feel ya. They really care about selling fast against apple but leave all these products behind. Their customer service also sucks, they are only there to tell you that the bug is in you, not the device... it's horrible, it's a pity for such a great capable phone...
P.S. Just tried the wearable thing but no luck. I was just remembering that the last apk which I installed and broke everything for good was the note10+ star wars edition firmware... and of course it had a much bigger impact on the phone than tutuapp and other hacks for games... any known bugs from installing that?

Getting SK Samsung tech support on the phone is something I relish like a demon. They can not handle criticism at all and I just lay into them.
It's a cultural thing. They can't solve problems either which is probably just crap training.
Nothing should break firmware that a factory reset can't fix on Pie* and above. That sounds more like a rootkit than a just bad app. It may have damage the hardware if a factory reset didn't fix it.
Be careful what you install...
*pre Android 9 OS's are vulnerable to rootkits that can breach the userdata partition, a reflash is required to purge them. That vulnerability was patched on Android 9.
When you factory reset you wipe the userdata partition and viruses, rootkits, corrupted data, whatever ceases to exist.

Most def crap training, they know nothing but to make a quick reset or factory wipe...
Anyhow... that makes sense! I don't want to ask how does a rootkit damages hardware because I know it will be an extensive topic but if 3 firmware reinstalls (by this I mean firmware glash with odin by a samsung tech guy) didn't fix the issue, then for sure it is a hardware thing which makes things so much worse for me because it sounds expensive! Lol
How do I check my hardware's health?
P.S. is there any cheer pointa or medals I can give you throigh the app? I want to show my appreciation because you have really listened to my problem man. Even if I don't fix this, thanks a lot for your help and dedication.

Normally rootkits don't fry hardware but the firmware controls most of the hardware.
If the rootkit can't breach the userdata partition I doubt it would be able to damage hardware. I may be mistaken though.
You check hardware by function or lack off.
Not sure what advance testing is available for Android memory and the CPU other then bench mark apps... never had to do it.
It may have been damage by a drop or just a failure with no discernible cause. While the mobo has thermal auto shutdown it's still possible to overheat and damage components.
Especially if there's a fast temperature rise.
If it's the mobo you just replace it...

Hmmmm... what is mobo?
Is it possible that the SIM card is generating the issues? The card that has my phone number in it?

Mobo ie Motherboard.
Good Q, the sim isn't directly connected to bluetooth operation that I'm aware of.
Here's a guide that might help you and shows some specific settings to try:
Redirect Notice
If streaming from the SD card, does its bandwidth support the thru put?
Try playing with these...

Thanks a lot! I'll let the issue rest for a while.
Cheers!

Don't know. I just keep playing with it and reading about similar issues until I fix it.
Try in safe mode.
A 3rd party app may alter settings hidden from the user.
Or the solution may be hiding in plain sight. I was having a volume issue (went on for months) with a browser vid player until I realized it had a hidden volume slider by the mute button
Factory reset if you're desperate but it may reoccur.
Alright then, thanks and cheers!
