MIUI 10 but still on Oreo - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just received my 2s and it seems it's still on Oreo. All articles on the internet say it's on Pie though. Anyone know if there's a problem or if this is the way it's supposed to be?
Edit: I'm an idiot. Mods could you delete the thread?

New Update?

I am in the US on an unlocked S7 G930U.
Earlier this week I received notice of a Software Update.
I am always hesitant to install these updates until I know what they are and see what people are saying about their performance.
I havent seen anything about this here (am I missing it somewhere) although on GSMArena there is a scary sounding thread with people installing a recent update and having major battery issues.
Is there anyway to see what this update is before it gets installed? Any ideas? Thanks.
BTW - the update is ~452MB.

I'm kind of new here, but after reading up on the Samsung support forums apparently G930U will only be receiving quarterly security updates so this update is all of the regular updates the carrier versions have received since September rolled up into 1 large package. It's still 6.0.1, and so far, I haven't seen any adverse effects (although I'm not rooted, so no clue if it effects anything along the lines of the boot loader) Also, during my internet search on what this update was, I came across this site that lists out the firmware (and Android level) of every release for a Samsung product, which confirmed not the nougat update. - can't make a real link since I'm new to posting on XDA, so search Google for "live-samsung updates"
Hope that helps!

I updated my G930U and have had no issues. Took it off the charger this morning at 8am, it's now nearly 1pm and battery is at 97%. Obviously I haven't used it much but there's certainly no unusual standby battery issue so far.

Is the B360 the official Nougat update?

Hey guys,
I think that most of the people "assume" that the B360 is the official Nougat update. But is there any official communication or has anyone received the B360 through a normal OTA update (not through HiCare)?
I have the L04 model and haven't received anything yet, and I just wanna make sure that the B360 is not a BETA to 'Charles' my way to it.
Thanks for your answers.

I got the 360 update through the normal OTA update. Not through high care.
I was on the beta N program and am intouch with some body at Honor UK on Google+
I asked him if the 360 was a beta and he said no it was final !
As people who wasnt on the beta got the same update 360 I think we can say that it was the N update.
I would just wait to get yours OTA as it seems like some folk that have rooted Etc are having issues like rebooting etc
My phone is running very well on the 360.
Just wait you ain't missing no big deal

Thank you for the informations!
May I ask if you have rooted your B360 ? If yes, how is it working out for you?

No mate I hadn't rooted my phone. Can't see the point, I have nothing that I really need the required root at the mo.
In the past I have always rooted my android phones soon as I got them but with this one I thought I would leave it as it is.
It's really worth thinking before you root your phone.
I must admit to having a nexus 5 which is of course rooted and has a different ROM running most days but then there are the custom ROMs to support it.
Perhaps that's why I'm finding it easier to leave my Honor 8 as it is
John
I got the 360 through a normal OTA as well. That too some three weeks ago. On L04.
I was not rooted, nor on beta. Rooted all my previous samsung galaxy phones.. somehow wanted to go with this one with out rooting and so far I'm really not missing anything.

Times are changing. I rooted every phone I had and there were a lot of them down to Motorola Defy. And I still believe it was justified, I'd do it again. The original Android was so cumbersome in the past and there were so many better solutions from devs that staying with original system was unreasonable. Not to mention disgusting bloatware. But now, we have AOSP which serves its purpose and EMUI 5 makes it even better in many aspects. And the new functionality appeared with Marshmallow enables disabling unwanted apps cutting them out of any influence to the system and memory.
Yes, 360 is likely EMUI 5, which is equal Android 7.0. But, since Chinese models have 368 already, I think that Huawei is going further as it promised. How far? To Andromeda?
If your phone is bricked, you imperatilevy need to have a SD Card. Put full update on it an install it trough dload method.
When mine was bricked, I didn't found any other way to unbrick it.
Hello, so I can update to B360 through HiCare but I don't know if I should wait until final EMUI 5 because they recommend wiping and then I think I will have to wipe my phone twice... Anybody know if I have to wipe it again when final EMUI 5 comes out if I upgrade to B360 and wipe now?
Hi
I updated to nougat but I have slow Wifi speed. On other android devices on my network I have 80 Mbits but on Honor 8 max is 45Mbits/s.
What are Your Wifi speeds after nougat update?
Best regards

Wow, I didn't know that 368 existed, that's a definite information to wait for a normal OTA
Hello,
I posted a question in the official hihonor community:
https://community.hihonor.com/message/10155
It's still not clear that B360 is indeed the official version.
From the reply: "There is no[t] one latest version for the FRD-L09" (sic)
I can only assume that some phones will receive B360, while others might go directly to a newer build. At least there is a confirmation that all the phones (in the UK) will receive the Nougat update, "eventually".
This Honor 8 forum is getting filled with threads asking the same questions! Do people know that there is a search button? Do people know that having 10 threads talking about the same things just pushes "power users" away? it's impossible to follow all threads so it will be more difficult to get help from people who can really help....

I think you are a little bit confused, b368 is for Mate 8, not Honor 8! It doesn't mean that Honor 8 will receive a version with the same name or version that other devices have.

Hello,
I haven't seen another thread asking if the B360 is indeed the official Nougat version for Honor 8, or clarifying it.
Most of the other threads deal with either how to install it via the Charles method, the Firmware Finder app, and there are plenty of threads for bugs and/or bricked phones.
I believe that a thread where it shows the confusion regarding this, instead of jumping into updating with mixed results, has value towards making users understand the implications of possibly installing a "beta" or a "release candidate" on their phone, and may save them time. Burying this information under tons of other questions in a generic "EMUI 5.0 released for Honor 8" is not as helpful.
Not trying to argue with you, I understand that power users might find all different threads difficult to follow, but I don't think it would be any better if everything regarding EMUI 5.0 was consolidated under one single thread with dozens of messages.
In any case, maybe finally Honor representatives would jump in this thread and clarify whether it is the final one or not

I think the title of this thread Honor 8 Android 7.0 + EMUI 5 oficial released! is quite clear and if took some time to read the following posts you would find that was not necessary to create one more thread speaking about the same thing.
You would also find that not everyone has received or will receive the update at the same time, but eventually everybody will receive it.

I read your thread but I'm sorry to say that there is no mention of an official source that the B360 is official, it's all based on your speculations.
I, and many other users, wouldn't risk and force a BETA or an RC on our phone, thus I created a simple straight-forward thread to know if Honor has announced anything about it, since I haven't found anything.

Downgrading back to Nougat from Oreo

Hello everyone.
So here's my problem, I'm used to play an online video game using my Samsung Galaxy S8+ hotspot because it's pretty stable and I get a good ping from it. This has been the case for months.
Somehow i noticed that after installing the Oreo update on my device I started getting a bad ping. I though maybe it's my ISP, so i tried my sim card on my friends phone and the ping was back to good. So clearly not an ISP problem. I tried factory resetting , running on safe mode and wiping both cache and data but still the same problem. All i can think of is that it's a firmware related problem.
I'd like to add to this that the problem didn't really occur right after after installing the Oreo update, it was still good for a few days. So not sure what changed ...
Now i'm thinking of downgrading back to Nougat but i'm a noobie and i've never done it before but I'm pretty good with these kind of stuff so there won't be a problem following a tutorial.
I just wanna know if it's safe and what's the knox thingy?
My device model is SM-G955FD.
Thank you so very much.
Anyone? please :/
I'm Inerested too. So many things aren't working for me with this oreo
Just download latest Nougat firmware from Sammobile.com or updato.com and flash it through odin. I did in past and it worked without any issue.
Okay update, I did downgrade my device to Nougat but the problem remains ... at this point i don't even know what could be the cause of this :/
Anybody got an idea please?
Man I sure hope somebody is able to find a solution, I'm literally having the exact same problem. And it seems to be only getting worse. My speedtests are showing pure degradation and my uploads speeds aren't even legally allowed to be mentioned in the same sentence with the word speed in it. Ugh, I fought myself so hard on whether or not to dunk the oreo, and I went against my better judgement. Hindsight truly is one of my least favorite things.

Why is my screenshot format JPG? How can I switch it to PNG?

Lately I updated my system to Android Oreo, I found something really annoying and I'm about to lose my mind.
The screenshot format became JPG!
Wtf, I've never seen this stuff on any other phone I've used before. I did asked some of my friends using the same phone, the Oreo users found this too, while Nougat users didn't.
Some may say that "It doesn't matter at all." Or "Nobody really cares the little quality loss." But I'm a perfectionist (in a way), I was just wondering how to fix this, I wanna a PNG screenshot.
My phone model is SM-G955U, Carrier: ACG, System Version: 8.0.0
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/sreenshots-oreo-8-0-jpg-instead-png-how-t3761795
Seems they changed it with Oreo and no one has figured out how to switch it back yet.

Q beta 5 OTA: Have you had the update?

I know there was a delay with the Q beta 4 after Google released it but too many bad things happened to people's phones so they halted the OTA and then released it again after fixing. I can't remember if I sideloaded the update before I realized that it was problematic, but I haven't received any OTA notification update for the Q 5 even when forcing to check manually.
I know that Q 5 release has happened as I can see downloadable images from earlier this month, but has a similar problem happened this time around (that occurred with initial Q 4) and that's why I'm not being notified right now?
I was on a difference computer during the last release so I can't remember or have records if I sideloaded it, but is there a way to check if I did? I understand that if I sideloaded the update then I won't get future "automatic/transparent" OTA notifications or updates.
Wanted to clear things up since I would rather keep things easy rather than having to keep sideloading them until the official release.
q5 aint out yet

Oh man, I don't know how I was misreading things on the Android beta downloads. That's totally the case. Seriously my bad. I'll delete this post in a bit to keep the forum garbage post clean.
