Firmware 4.3.3
I'm currently using my OBDlink LX with my Android smartphonen (Oppo R9+) and everything works perfectly.
I want to use the OBDlink LX with my brand new Pumpkin Audio android head unit in my car so I can log data and view the dash display in realtime using the OBD link software but also potentially Torque Pro.
My problem is as follows;
First, I press the pair button on the OBDlink LX and then I open the bluetooth page on the head unit. I press search on the headunit and the OBDlink LX comes up as an option. When I select the OBDlinkLX option it selects fine but when I press the connect buddon on the head unit, it says "connecting to OBDlinkLX" but then simply doesn't pair.
The head unit sees the OBDlink LX but something is amiss with the pairing process.
The Head unit is android 8.0 (Oreo) based but being chinese there is obviously some custom rom stuff going on.
I read somewhere in this forum (seriously searched far and wide and can't find it again) that you can change MAC addresses and pin codes on the OBDLink LX by sending it commands. Maybe the protocol or addresses on the OBDlinkLX are too new for the Bluetooth module on the head unit? but this is way above my knowledge level.
I'd really like to try and get this working. Any help would be greatly appeciated.
Many thanks.
John
Good on you for buying a real OBD2 Dongle, these are so much better than the rubbish knock offs.
I have had an LX working successfully first on MTCD PX5 headunit running Android 6 then Oreo. Unit reliably connects within seconds each time, almost immediately from sleep.
I use paid Torque - it connects every time and supports the LX fast and sleep mode.
On to resolving the pairing issue:
Delete all paired devices. Set HU BT passcode to 1234. Pair your LX. Done.
Update 13/11/2019 - Set Headunit PIN code to 0000.
Update: I now use an OBDLink SX (USB) - blazing fast updates and 100% reliability.
Thanks heaps! I think I've tried this solution already but I'll give it another go and report back.
Cheers.
John.
Unfortunately I've had no luck with that solution. It finds the OBD link LX when searching for devices... but when I select it and press connect device it doesn't connect. It says "connecting" but never actually connects. It just stalls out and never becomes a "paired device".

I have the obdlink mx. I personally use it with dashcommand. Dashcommand for some reason does not want to initially link with my obdlink. I also had the same issue using torque. The only way I have found ao far to over come this is. Install the obdlink app. Open it and connect to it with that app. Then i exit out of that then open my dashcommand app. It connects just fine then. If somebody finds another work around with out have to open obdlink app first i would love to know how.
Just to verify yes bluetooth passcode on head unit must be 1234.
For anyone still looking, I found this method, and it works for me. Been trying for months to figure it out.

Hey guys,
Not sure if this exists, or if someone could point me to a product which does what I'm looking for. Basically, I want a device that will connect via Bluetooth to my HTC Uni, and use the remote control functions of AVRCP to allow me to pause/play/next/prev/etc. via this little remote control. I do NOT need the device to do A2DP, as I already hard-wire in the speakers.
I know there may not be much of a need, but I want this functionality for when I go snowboarding, and I keep my HTC Uni in my jacket pocket (in an aluminum case of course!). I already have headphones in my touque/hat, so they would be connected directly to my Uni, then I wanted a device that I could strap to my wrist or jacket which I could hit "next/prev track, etc."
I am thinking that without the A2DP streaming music, I might be able to save on battery, as the device would only be a "Bluetooth AVRCP Media Remote". I tried searching the net for the past 4 hours, but came up with nothing.
The only device that almost caught my attention was the Motorola S705 Bluetooth Soundpilot, but it has a headphone connection on it (I just want the AVRCP remote control functionality).
Now maybe I am dreaming, since I've never actually played with an A2DP/AVRCP device before, so I'm not even sure if the headset port on my Uni would become deactivated if an A2DP/AVRCP device were to connect with the phone.
EDIT: I've actually found a picture of the setup that I'm talking about from the official Bluetooth page:
(it's the 2nd pic, note the fine print: "* the audio stream is not handled in this profile"...what i need!)

It just refers to that you also need to have A2DP support. However, the two may not be separated - unless someone has managed to "hack" this.
If nothing else works, you might want to give a try to UPnP, along with a remote controllable player like Conduits Pocket Player. Note that it doesn't use AVRCP but UPnP and might only work via Wi-Fi (I haven't tested it over BT PAN).
See my UPnP Bible for more info.
Thanks for your reply Menneisyys,
Now I understand a bit more about how those technologies work, and although I wasn't in dire need of such a controller, I appreciate your information.
I do use CorePlayer, and I have heard that it supports AVRCP, but until I can get a controller-only piece of hardware, I probably won't keep looking into this (only to get my hopes up).
Wouldn't it be great though to have a small iPod-like device that could control your phone via BT? Think about the situations where you might have your phone wired to a nice speaker system, but are chilling outside. You wouldn't even have to aim the remote!
I am thinking too far outside of the box now though, and if I only had the means, time and most importantly, knowledge, to create such a device, I would be ALL over it!
Hopefully someone has read into this, and maybe we'll see such a device down the line....for now, it's more waiting time!
Hi Guys,
I have a PX3 Android 7.0 Device with 4 GB Ram and 32 GB Rom. The unit is working now in Peugeot 308 with an LCD small display in the center console. It shows some stuff like Clock, media info playing, some information for the status of the car, Temperature and stuff like this.

I have seen that these devices have a software with touch buttons which help to go in the menu of this LCD display - but i cannot find this software on my unit. I know that it has to be activated via the Factory Settings menu (Code 126) - but really cannot find the correct can bus setting with which i can see this working. Could someone help me with this ?
I think it is the same also on some Citroen cars.
Thanks in advance for the support.
same problem here with a Witson unit the worst is the you cant change the clock.
The only way to change the clock is by installing the original stereo!
the km/miles per hour also does not toggle . even though i know it can do it, if i reboot the device and look at the dashboard the trip computer toggles between mph/kph several times on its own for about 5 seconds.
I have upgrade my mcu and now im testing different settings in the can bus department.
another od thing is that my Peugeot partner only works when set as a 3008 on the can-bus setting.
ps,
tomorrow i will post the name of the app.
Hi, do you have any progress with this issue ?
I saw in Youtube some android devices installed on Peugeot - having this option working. They have the icon : Control Settings - and in this application there are the buttons with which all the settings in the Up LCD display can be manipulated. I have this application - but do not have the software buttons.
Thanks in advance for the support.
I made it. Please try the following CAN BUS setting in the Extra Settings :
Canbus 61 PSA_301&2008&408
Type 5 3008
Key mode 508/2012
Swap_key Normal
Then go to the Control Settings application and you should see the buttons with which you can make all the adjustments.
Waiting for your feedback.

Hey, New here.
I bought a android head unit for my Mercedes, installed it fine, but there wherent any can-bus adapters with it, so I had to reroute the acc to the AC, so it gives out 12v on startup. That works perfectly, however, I am wondering why it cant be in standby mode for a wile, why it turns off? its ok that the ACC cable cuts the power to the screen, but I thought the direct line(BAT) would keep it alive and in standby.
Is there anyway to get around this?
Here is the link to the unit I bought: banggood.com/10_1-Inch-2-DIN-Android-7_1-WIFI-Car-Radio-GPS-Navigation-Audio-Stereo-Car-MP5-Player-p-1432315.html?rmmds=myaccout-bottom-alsolike__1&cur_warehouse=CN
Thanks for helping
Take a look into "extra settings" -> "Shutdown delay if ACC OFF". There you can set it to "Auto sleep".
After that the unit should be every time in standby mode. For me it works fine.

Thanks, but I cant find any "extra settings". Ive tried to use the car settings, factory settings etc, but nothing there either. And since its a MB, and the unit isnt "compatible" out of the box, the system dont have MB settings in the factory settings.
And one more thing, it is really slow. using google maps, apple music and the launcher at the same time, its horrible. it should be able to run those 3 things at once.
As I can see in the description of the seller it is a quad core with 2 gb ram. I had an unit like that too and it was really slow. This was the reason why I bought me a new px5 with 4gb ram and octa core. This is very fast.
Are you sure that you don't have an option called extra settings?
On my old PX3 which had the same conditions like yours there was the option available.
Can you post some pictures of your settings screen!?

Reading on a few forums they say the Flip3 has ANT+ but when I tried the AntTester app it shows I don't. And it wont connect to any ANT+ devices.
Is this correct? we dont have ANT+
I found this:
samsung s21 ultra ant+ not supported
Just spent over an hour of wasted time on support chat Just trying to check on ant+ and why not working on the phone. Never got a straight answer. Why can't people just be clear and honest does it support or not. I mind me annoyed as doesn't but not as much as not getting straight answer. My...

ANT+ support missing?!
Hello, I just received my new S21+ and transferred all data and applications to it. All good, but when I tried to start ANT+ connectivity... to my dismalness, I noticed that support seems to be missing: ANT Tester reports that built-in ANT was...
forum.xda-developers.com
Not sure if it's true or not. Samsung can be a squirrelly lot...
Some are saying it's Android 11 not supporting it anymore. Security, so secure nothing works right.
I never used it, but you got me curious.
Now you know why I got second N10+... not at all happy with the latest Samsung devices or Android 11
I found this, a site that has all the devices compatible with ANT+, not sure how current it is :
Directory - THIS IS ANT
ANT is a Wireless Personal Network protocol, by Garmin Canada, with small size, reasonable cost and very low power requirements.
www.thisisant.com
There's also an app in the Google Play Store to detect it on a device:
ANTtester - Apps on Google Play
Test your device for ANT+™ capabilities
play.google.com
There's various official ANT apps in the store as well, not sure if they will provide the functionality you're looking for.
@senergy
I know nada about ANT, your post piqued my interest.......
It's listed here https://www.thisisant.com/directory/galaxy-z-flip/
but doesn't look like it has the required firmware.
How it comes originally.

After I installed the following
ANT USB Service
ANT Radio Service
ANT+ Plugins Service
And this is what it looks like my Tablet S4, where ANT+ works fine.
Interesting. On my N10+ Pie variant all of those are preinstalled except the Ant USB service.
I plugged a USB Ant+ stick and now it looks to be work. So after installing the extra services it can work with with usb-on the go.
@senergy
Does the USB ANT+ stick need to be plugged in to your phone at all times to achieve the connectivity you're looking for?
Also, is there a mfg's app that needs to be installed (ex:FitBit app)?
Just curious,as all my wireless accessories only need Bluetooth for functionality. I'd heard of ANT+, but, never had the necessity for it.
THX.
Yes the USB Stick needs to be plugged in for connectivity.
I have lots of equipment that uses ANT+, Heart Rate strap. Bicycle Lights, Bicycle Power Pedals, wheel pressure.. etc..
Depending on what your trying to do you need the apps.
My particular use case is I use Zwift on the phone connected to my indoor trainer or treadmil and wanted the HR monitor.
I got it working now, but without HDMI output it's kinda half arsed.. so back to the S9+ in the gym.
Not good. It's like others described.
Who dropped the ball, Google Android or Samsung?
Pretty slimy...
Could not find a forum for OTT boxes.
Please direct me to it, if it exists.
I was given an M8S OTT box and am trying to get it to work.
I have plugged it in to my TV [HDMI cable].
I have connected it to the internet via cat cable.
When I turn my TV on all I get is a M8S logo that states amlogic, H.265, 8 core, Mali 450 and Quad Core A9.
I have downloded the users guide but it is not a lot of help in the info department.
There is a USB dongle in a USB slot at the back for a bluetooth keyboard, the keyboard lights up, but again no reaction from OTT box.
The box that the keyboard came in says it is for an Android TV Box.
The remote flashes red when I hit buttons but does not seem to react.
The remote does not seem to turn machine on/off.
I have found a site that shows how to reset to factory defaults.
I have read about getting into recovery mode using a USB keyboard.
I have not done either.
Can anyone suggests what my next moves should be?
Thanks
Requires Ethernet connection?
Yes, but I am not sure how to do this as I cannot setup to sign in.
That's how an Ethernet cable looks

Yes that is what I have plugged in to TV box and to router. I have a cable internet connection @ 120 maps download and 10 maps upload.
First and foremost, thank you to everyone who has helped in this matter. I do understand that this is an older piece of equipment and my knowledge of it is on the low end. I was hoping that being a Linux derivative there was some hope for it, as I don't like waste. There are few markings on it, which doesn't help. As well as my inexpertise about these devices.
So, now, I am looking for a "brand" name tv box (other than chromecast, roku, fire, etc.) that I can look into. Not really interested in used. Android(configurable) preferred. I live in CANADA if that makes a difference. My use for the tv box is mostly news and documentary with a little entertainment thrown in. Netflix, et all, I am not interested in, although I like movies. I have cut the wire so to speak and do not subscribe to any of the big TV/Internet providers.
I do not recognize any names of the Android TV boxes I have seen in any internet searching, so, if someone could provide some names that are good equipment in this line, I could check them out and get on with this.
Thanks.
