N950F dm-verification failed... - General Questions and Answers

Hey there, can anyone please help
I have rooted my note 8 and installed twrp recovery then flashed a few custom roms like I did previously with s3,s4,s5 and s7.
but when I got no mobile signal I started running into trouble, I couldnt fix it so read somewhere to flash efs.img which made it worse ...of course
I finally fixed the efs problem by using adb commands and was expecting to install a stock rom and get to get past the boot up logo but doesnt get there, I have ran out of options flashing everything
This is what I have now
#fail to open recovery_cause(no such file or directory)#
#reboot recovery cause is [UNKNOWN]#
support SINGLE-SKU
file-based OTA
supported API: 3
dm-verity verification failed...
the FRP lock: off
OEM lock : off

Installing system update fail after Odin flash. Boot into recovery mode.

Hi,
My phone (S7) got into a boot loop for no apparent reason. I noticed it was a bit hot and it froze a couple of times so I rebooted it and after that it was stuck in a boot loop no matter what. I then tried "flashing" the latest firmware with Odin3 to fix it. Everything was fine in Odin but after the phone rebooted, it couldn't finish installing the patch... It showed an "error!' screen then booted into Android Recovery with these logs:
#fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory)#
#Reboot Recovery Cause is UNKNOWN

File-Based OTA

At this point I'm not sure what I can do... I would really like to avoid a factory reset as I have a lot of data on my phone I would like to keep.
Thanks!

Hello, this problem is very common for people that root their phones if you get drk error then there are 2 methods to solve this
Method one : easy
Just flash cf autoroot with odin download the file for your phone and flash it in ap
You may get stuck or get bootloops in splash screen or red errors just wait patiently until rom boots
Method 2 : for if you want no root (ota still impossible)
Flash twrp with odin, then download the no verity file
And move it to your phone, in twrp tap on install and select the file
https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
Just download the latest version of the file (6.0)
Now wait until rom boots

Please donate and like if you think i deserved it,
If it didnt work you don't have to do it
Happy flashing and good luck
Dont forget to update me after following the steps
I'm a total newbie when it comes to phone flashing, I have a few questions. If I decide to use autoroot, is there a chance for a brick? What could go wrong? I think there's no turning back from rooting a device, right? I don't want to lose my data.
Also, I can't seem to make TWRP work because when I plug the phone to the pc it doesn't recognize it and I can't access it whatsoever to put the files in there, even after installing the drivers.
Thanks!

Flash the stock firmware again but from download the firmware from Samfirm application. Please use the HOME_CSC too or your device is wiped. If you need the firmware just post modelnumber or name idk and CSC code and i can post a link with the firmware for you. TWRP can't mount /data and you will need to format your phone with means you lose everything.

Same issue
I have the same issue. I cant boot into download mode at all to even attempt to flash anything

S8 (sm-g950f) wont boot, reset, wipe and is stuck

Hello,
My phone(Samsung galaxy s8) just had a crash and is stuck on the blue screen with "Installing update". After several seconds the screen goes away and boots straight into the recovery mode.
The log that i see in the recovery is :
Fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory)
Failed to mount /efs
Unknown volume for path /odm
dm-verity verification failed
I tried to install the stock firmware (I cant link to the webpage but im 100% sure its the correct one) but it wont boot and goes to the "Installing update" again and after that to the recovery.
I tried installing twrp but it wont install due a FRP lock. i read that you should wipe your data and factory reset. Also tried that but again no succes.
Can someone please help me.
Thanks in advance

I'm going to take a guess here, you had the device rooted and then you tried to apply an OTA stock update while the device was rooted? Tyically, stock OTA updates can't be applied to devices that have been rooted because the updates require the device to have an unmodified system partition(no root) and they require stock recovery instead of custom recovery. There are "some" devices that can apply stock updates while rooted, but those are few and far between.
If that is what you did, you need to do some searching for repairing failed OTA updates on rooted devices.

Trying to root j330fn, but twrp fails running.

Yesterday i tried to root my phone, but i still fail booting twrp. At starting the recovery mode, the update system progress suddenly stops and i get the following errors
Whatever sm-j330fn version of twrp i could find, all gave me the same error... Unlocked oem lock and used heimdall on linux to flash twrp on phone with success..
Anyone any idea's?

Help J330F Not booting(recovery:error failed to mount efs)

Hi there
I have the J330F/ds phone.
It won't boot.
ODIN mode says its J330F OEM&FRP LOCK=ON
Binary: U3
I tried latest pie stock rom. It boots into recovery mode only with errors E: failed to mount efs(invalid argument)
dm verity verification failed
and some failed to clear bcd efs(invalid argumenet)
I tried Nougat stock rom too. In recovery mode it gives me failed to mount efs and dm verity failed
After I do factory reset/clear cashe the phone boots to the samsung logo and it stays there.
Same thing happens when with Factory Binary. It boots up to the clock gears and it just sits there.
Since I have OEM and FRP lock on I can't install TWRP
Can the efs error be fixed with efs if someone has it for U3 binary. I think that that error causes the stuck on logo. and it won't even let me boot factory binary???
If someone could help I would really appreciate it.
Fixed it!
I was able to fix it. First I flashed efs.img tar file that I found on the internet.
I was able to boot into combination firmware and I flashed 7.0 stock via ODIN.
I flashed only system.img boot.img and sboot.img. And it worked I was able to remove FRP and OEM lock and they are both off. I tried pie stock and it did boot up and worked but when I factory reseted via menu on the phone the phone was stuck on starting screen and had the same dm verity error. I was not bothered with trying to root it and flashing twrp and the skip dm -verity tar. I just went back to 7.0 and factory reset works just fine there.
The problem was efs corruption or missing altogether. And dm verity can be fixed with root twrp and the skip dm verity tar file which I didn't do but it should fix that too!

May i ask someone to help me flash TWRP and root galaxy j4+ correctly? SM-J415FN

Today i tried to root my samsung galaxy j4+ SM-J415FN i failed. I Flashed TWRP using odin successfully but this is where the problems started. I tried to mount and access partitions to flash rmm lock bypass so i would not get locked out and no verity opt encrypt but i could not access the file. I could not connect to pc using usb. I decided to search on the forum. I cleared cache, dalvik, tried to format and repair partitions but it didn't work. After try to boot to OS i seen "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" error. I decided to flash stock recovery. I was stuck in only boot loop but the error stopped happening. Then i decided to re-flash the entire firmware and now im left with working os but i flashed polish rom but the language is not polish... its fine but how can i flash TWRP correctly without screwing everything up and root? i got every zip i need i think and custom kernel (i read that to root i need to flash custom kernel i didn't flash any zips and it because i could not access files from pc or on partitions (i read in a post on the forum that on android pie i need custom kernel to do rooting)).
So how do i flash it correctly and root without screwing up everything again?
And by the way version of TWRP i used is twrp-3.6.0_9-1-j4primelte.img.tar
The RMM/LG lock did not trigger
Bootloader unlocked
Edit: i found out that i flashed t mobile firmware
Oh yes and screen locks were and are disabled
TWRP showed that data partition size is 0mb
I'm also searching for a stable way to root J415FXXU6.
Tried the old method, but can't use lockscreen on it.
Edit:
Tested this tutorial so far lockscreen and root are stable
