Hi there,
I'm rather happy user of Nexus 5, I'm loving everything about it apart from battery life.
OPO is no only 219 pounds, dirt cheap. I'm tired of ****ty battery life so it seems like a no brainer to buy one.
However, OP Two is coming and new Nexus too. I'm afraid of buying OP two at launch having in mind all the problems like yellow band etc.
Are OPOs now free of all their faults like yellow screens, unresponsive screens etc ? Should I buy one or wait ? Also, how is the dev scene compared to the nexus ?

I believe the problems reported with this phone only affect a small percentage of total units sold, it's just that those who are affected have pretty loud mouths. I own two, both are perfect. I know dozens and dozens of other owners who have perfect phones. If I was faced with this decision right now I'd buy it. It's cheap, and it's a beast. The OnePlus Two isn't going to be as cheap, the Nexus sure as hell won't be cheap anymore judging by the price of the last model. This phone is still fantastic, just check out our dev sections to see how much development it receives.

I was a Nexus 5 user too and I switched to OPO because of
- Battery life
- Better camera
- Sound quality
- And much more
When I switched to OPO six months back, I felt it was the next generation nexus 5, because it actually looks like Nexus 5 and it has almost similar kind of developer support
Reason why I think OnePlus One is better option than OnePlus 2
- I don't think there will be official CM OS on it
- You can't revert back to kitkat when you need
- As oneplus is a startup, the mistakes that company has made which are advantageous for users will be concealed
- May be it won't have bamboo styleswap cover
Only thing I miss about nexus 5 is
- Variety of Custom ROMs
- OIS
- Better display
- Availability of Developer preview ROMs (As I'm a app developer, I need it for testing)

How is the video recording ? Is the lack of OIS that bad ?
I don't need kitkat nor the dev previews, that's fine for me.
Screen ? Is really nexus 5 screen better ?

First of all, video recording was good before OIS, but since there is a better option non-OIS videos are "bad" It is good, but of course any video shot with OIS will look better You can check here. I am using a modded camera with software stabilizer, which helps a bit, but no OIS.
Screen? Nexus screen is better, since it smaller and has larger pixel density But to put the jokes aside, it has a great screen, and if you don't like the default setting you can calibrate and adjust contrast, brightness, RGB, kcal etc.
New owner here as well (ordered yesterday.) I too was a bit worried about the problems that have been reported in mass here, but based off of every phone I have had, I know problems seem larger than they are because the happy owners don't voice their satisfaction as frequently as upset owners. I hope I get a good phone as I wanted to switch back to Android since trying the iPhone 6.
Just gotten my Mate 9 yesterday and realised that there are yellow tint on the bottom left of the corner. Anyone else with the same issue?
Wondering if it is undry glue or screen issue.
All good here, screen's fine
Mine too, perfect whites here.
Have you checked the screen color in the settings?
Yup. Only the bottom of the screen have the yellow tint. Apart from that, all shows perfect white. Seems like I need to contact them for RMA.
I had that with other brands twice. They will replace it, I'm sure.
Same here..
Same thing here and have a replacement now to compare. The new mate has a completely different screen and is more yellow across the entire screen.
I will keep the original one...already getting used to the yellow bottom

DO you have a new device? I had 3 phone's and all of them had yellow tint on bottom left corner.... Is it possible that this tint will disappear in future?

Get over it and enjoy the phone.
i also have a yellow tint and probably I will return the phone. I cant get over it and enjoy cause the phone didn't cost 100$ and in my opinion it is unacceptable.
The yellow tint either faded or became less noticeable for me after 2 weeks use. Several other phones had a similar issue (OPO, for example) where it was just uncured glue.
It don't you think that in phone for so much money on the phone it should not have the place?

It's fairly common and goes away with usage. Happens with iPhones as well, it's not a Huawei thing. Heck even earphones need 100 hours to break in. Patience my young Padawan.

Xperia phones are famous too in this case.
So you are saying that it should be white for some time?

A yellow tint/spot usually means your device is from a fresh new batch, the glue used to affix the LCD panel to the phone will cure with usage. The glue will cure faster if you use your device in high brightness mode so you can give that a go for the next couple of days. You can also leave it 1-2 hours under direct sunlight or any UV light source. I wouldn't worry about it.

It is possible to check when the phone was produced? Like in Samsung app from play store?

hi guys I've this thing in my mind since long. Since xz n xzs have same processor only 1 gig ram difference. Is it possible for the devs to port the same 960fps feature to our Xperia xz? Damn it would be great!
Dude take a read about new lens it's impossible to have a 960 fps on XZ. Off top.

The camera module is different, our camera can only support 120fps if I remember it correctly.
You can try it with xnext camera:

What's special about this camera? And btw is there anyway I can remove the cross icon from signals bar? In noughat, it's very annoying!

As per Sony, the sensor in XZs is a memory stacked sensor which provides higher data transfer rate to support the amount of data for 960 fps. I haven't come across the cross icon, can you capture the screen for it?

That is hardware not Software
Like in the title. I can choose only 1080p, how do I set recording to 4K?

There is no 4k recording. Try Open Camera app, but why you want to record videoin 4K?

4K looks way better on TV and PC.
First of all we should hope for some developers to create a camera mod that will allow use to record in 4k and in 1080p 60fps.
Samsung at the moment doesn't allow the a7 to record nothing other than 1080/30fps, maybe in the future we will see something(april 2019, android pie release).
The camera sensor shouldn't have any problem to record in 4k cause you only need a 9mpx sensor to record in 4k, as specs said we have a 24 mpx camera behind our phone, even more we have already slow-mo(720/120fps) and super slow-mo(should be 960fps?) features. Those features let us know that the camera is able to record at high framerate.
A user reported that our main camera is a SCAM, to him the camera is a 8mpx interpolated to 24mpx, THAT IS THE WORST THING EVER.
So first of all we should find out which camera sensors we have onboard.
@maury121
That's Sony_IMX576 propably. I checked that with Phone INFO app.
Look: https://www.deviceranking.pl/camera-sensor/158/sony-imx576-exmor-rs
I don't know if thats exactly the same sensor, but guess Samsung would not lie us like that.
So it looks like we have a sensor that other manufacturer used as a selfie camera.
Still, it's able to shoot 120fps and very high fps(880fps, in real for only 400ms for a total of 385fps, tested it myself), so if only some glorious developer put his work on a camera mod to enable all those amazing features it would be an amazing phone.
I really don't understand how samsung won't allow users to record in 4k with a 24mpx sensor, my old oneplus could record in 4k, that's really bad.
I hope they will add 4K support in the march update.
They will not, if they do that you woldn't need to buy the A9, that has the same sensor of the A7 and it can record in 4k30fps.
You can 3K in 30fps and 1080/60fps on Galaxy A7
I am using this device for a long time. And I am looking for and app that can record 4k and 1080 in 60fps.
BUT I FOUND SOMETHING INTERESTING!!!
If you use GCam, you can record in 60fps in 1080p.
And if you download filmic pro app then you can shoot in 3K 30fps. But I want 60fps somehow in filmic pro app. But the GCam can 60fps record in 1080p is quite good but sometime its do lag.

could you provide the link for that gcam version
also tell if there is root required for that gcam
I only have two fingerprints saved and set up on my phone system.. After the last update, the phone can be unlocked with each finger. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Remove fingerprints and re-enter them. Perhaps you have some small lesions on your fingertips.
