Ai battery optimizer brings stutter. Make G7 snappy again - LG G7 ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

Just enable all of your apps unde battery power savings exclusions. This means exclude all. Wait 2-3 days for the ai to learn. The phone will be snappy again.
This happens also if the power saver is turned off. This ai is so weird. Just exclude all apps from being optimised.

I had to do this because my G7 kept closing my damn GPS apps randomly. After that, all is fine.

Interesting. I'll have to try this out.

So you mean to leave it with all apps excluded for 2 to 3 days, then change it back to before?

No. I meant leave the ai disable, or the apps excluded. All the apps. The ai is so weird. It screwed my CPU governor. Now, after one week, everything is fine. This ai also works when you have Power management off. Weird.
Dear LG, OFF means OFF! It is my business how I want to go with my phone.

I've run without power optimizing now for a month or so and I swear the battery life stayed the same. Huh. Seems like a worthless feature.

too many apps to enable ? is there a faster way rather than manually doing one by one ?
I have to restart my phone once a week or so when the phone starts to stutter , not sure if it s related to this power saving

What ai is this?
Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

It's some sort of artificial intelligence software which looks for your app behaviour and tells to the CPU governor to use little low performance cores on some apps. That translates in laggy phone.
This software May be from lg, google or Qualcomm... but is s..t

I share this app for those who don't know this app and want to test. There is some good feedbacks for other devices. Personnaly I don't use it so don't ask me if battery life is better or worse, test by yourself, share your feedbacks, etc...
That wifi function was what i missed from xperias stamina mode and this has tons more. Hopefully the app keeps at light weight and dont end up drain battery itself.
Looks good! Lets put it to test.

I just installed it. Not expecting much, but we'll see.
We'll see how this works, seems like it could be decent. It says 4 days to calibrate, so be wary of that, crackflashers!
First night deep sleep battery usage dropped from ~60mAh to 24mAh. Seems like a realdeal.

In used this on my DNA and noticed no improvement. I wonder what it'll do with the S800. Going to try again.
I installed it & when it came out of the dormant mode to start saving battery for me, it asked me to keep the location sharing always ON in the LG UI settings, which i had disabled to save battery, i don't understand why does it need location ON?

I don't understand this either. But.... I am at 52% battery with almost 4 hours off screen time and my location services have been on constantly. I believe I read the location services were to determine when it can turn wifi on and off. I'm not 100% on that.
This app didn't do much on my one.
Imo the g2 doesn't need it
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk 2
I will report back when learning mode is done, sucks that it needs the location services turned on,that alone might defeat its purpose I think.
I used it for a couple of days after 4 days of calibration, i can hardly find any difference. Uninstalled it.

Because it learns places you use wifi and will turn it on and off depending on where you use it.
Guys. The app is designed for people that use their smartphone. Most people leave location services on. Try using your phone with location services OFF and UNINSTAL the app. See how much battery you use. Then use the the app. It causes a HUGE increase in battery. But if you usually leave location off, you won't see much of a difference
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk
I count about 42% difference on this. My Juicedefender config gives me 96% on average. I'll stick to that.
I've been calibrating for two days and I'm hoping that after calibration has finished, I can just leave my wifi and gps on all the time and it will know when to turn it on and off without my input.

It's not looking promising but I'll mess with it a few more days just for giggles.
I seem to be using MORE battery after finishing the learning period. In the morning I check a few news sources then don't touch the phone again until about 10am where I've been, according to the Guru battery indicator 99%. This morning I was at 96%.
Besides changing some autosync settings it didn't apear to do much before and seems the same now.

[Discussion] Battery Killers

We all want good battery life, that is a given. With the large batteries and the optimized operating systems versions most of us are running today, we all should have it. But often times we don't, why not? Apps with services causing wake lock issues are often to blame. So, I wanted to start this thread to post all apps we have found to either avoid or with workarounds to prevent bad battery life from ensuing.

Make sure no apps are running in the background, if you're not gonna be using your phone for a few hours turn your brightness to the lowest possible, make sure your screen shuts off in less settings ect.

I agree, facebook its battery sucker...
Wifi, Scrreen brightness, Auto sync, GPS and games in general seem to be the big culkprits for my battery draining. Even simple things like turning auto rotate off can help a tiny bit for performance and battery life. Limiting your amount of active widgets and screens animations on your fancy launcher can cut down as well on battery and performance. Certain IM apps like facebook chat, skype, and a ton of others will kill your device fast. Google + is known to be a bandwidth hog and batttery killer. I noticed when im browsiing youtube simple things like turning off hd will dramatically help improve battery life because your network is not sucking as much bandwidth.
There is all kinds of stuff to do . It is a constant battle.
Greenify app & use Lean Kernel if possible
Like many have said, apps running in the background are the main culprits of a shirt battery life. Unless you feel those apps are truly essential I recommend uninstalling those apps.

Using greenify like most of you guys. Yesterday I installed lux lite on a new custom ROM and noticed it was responsible for about 25% of my battery usage over about an hour with the screen on. Anyone with experience with this app know if this is normal behavior?

USB Chargers
I don't know if anyone realizes this, but what I have experienced with my phones(from Nexus One - Nexus 4) I have noticed when I charge my phone through a computer the battery seems to go out faster. When I connect it directly to power it lasts much longer.
Has anyone else noticed this"?

In general usage, I keep my performance set on lower modes. That REALLY helps. That, and maybe around half battery keeps me going. I regularly get at least 8-10 hours of video when doing so. Hope this helps!

Yeah that is pretty odd isn't it? I switched to NOVA launcher and haven't had an issue since. Although I haven't even had to be away rom the charger lately so have been keeping it on high performance. It seems like it is lasting better after several full discharges oddly. I probably only use the Tab for 2 hours a day or so, but I'm regularly getting 2-3 days or more.

Looks like I'll have to bring my charger to work..

So I got the s8+ two days ago and I gotta say, I'm not that impressed with the battery, my nexus 6p was more reliable.. Just got home from work and had ~17% left with 3.5h sot. This means that when I get home from work I'll have to charge my phone for half an hour atleast before I can go out and enjoy my spare time, I can't just go out straight from work
Anyone have any pointers?
Some key notes, no wifi at work (working within the government in Sweden is retarded)
And the 4g is pretty weak.
Brightness is around 50% and I have disabled bixby and 100 other services (package disabler)
Played games for like 1h
Some browsing, no video watching
Nobody called me during the say because I'm an asshole
That's pretty much it
Two days isn't really a good test to see what the battery life will be like. Especially since you are installing apps and setting up the phone.

I suggest use a black theme to save battery, as AMOLED screens doesn't need much power producing black color.
Also in the bottom of Battery settings, there's "always sleeping apps". Add all apps here that you don't need running in the background.
Also disable mobile internet if not needed, or at least turn on data saver.

WOW! I wonder what's draining you so quickly? I'm getting right at 7hrs SOT with no WiFi and marginal cell service at work!
You must've disabled an app that keeps pinging the system. Try to enable all apps and go from there. You shouldn't have to disable anything. Just watch for resource hungry apps like Facebook or Snapchat

Yeah im not enjoying this.. it's been 3 hours, barely used the phone and im down to 80% already (30 min sot)
I renabled everything in package disabler again, won't be using it untill people get more comfortable and researched in the subject of matter.
4g signal is pretty bad at work though, and these idiots dont have wifi lol. (getting like 1-2 bars)
Maybe it was package disabler causing the problem, if you disable something which something else relies on it might constantly try and connect to the disabled package causing battery draining
if you do continue to have a poor experience i definitely suggest using a pure black theme, This will boost your SOT buy a few hours minimum

You may have a dud. I'm coming from a 6p too and I usually have about 30% batter at the end of the day when I was shutting down right before leaving. Hey man. I had this same issue when i bought my phone. Apparently my phone wasn't going into deep sleep mode. Install an app called CPU spy and you'll be able to see if you're phone isn't going into deep sleep due to an app. If your phone is going into deep sleep but you still have battery drain like that. It could be a defective device. Btw the issue I had was facebook app. I disabled it and now I'm getting at least 8:30 hours sot.

I am going to install cpu spy, I do use facebook, i dont know why tbh, might actually disable it and might just use the messenger app whitch is the app i pretty much only use anyways (for social media)
I have verified that I can return the phone unlike my note 3 that I bought a couple of years ago (battery laster 4 hours first charge, wanted to return it but since i had peeled the plastic off they rejekted it lol, such dicks xD)
Other than the battery being a big off the device is absolutely incredible, I am happy I gave samsung another chance, (I had sworn to never use a samsung device again after the note3)
again, many thanks for taking your time to look into my issue!

For me it's still super good, using it often enough, start with 90, go to bed with 50-70% depending how much I used it (where with 50% it was a lot!)
I do have all the wiz disabled plus a load of google stuff.
I stumbled onto AccuBattery Pro and am glad it spells out discharge rate in percentages. Yaa... Camera is the most at 17%/H. Next is the Phone at 5.6%/H. Sitting near wi-fi most of the time, I suppose I cheat the phone's ugliness. And I just turn mobile data off with Better Internet Tiles. Now days I sit at home a lot and the cell towers are far away and crap. Damn. At work at the credit union, the cell tower was actually on the roof !

Idle drain here is about 0.6 %/h, satisfying enough for me. Nothing tinkered everything on stock. I just don't use AoD. WiFi and two SIM cards always active, no flight mode. Don't need Bluetooth hence off as well.
And of course no snake oil like Naptime.
