Hello,
After investing lots of hours and getting failures, please help.
Have a S6 (G920F, DBT)
Trying to install this custom COM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ment/rom-resurrection-remix-os-6-0-0-t3795667
The S6 is rooted, I was in the bootloader, worked with ADB, worked with Odin (after destroying the stock ROM, have reinstalled it then).
How can I do the following steps:
- Flash Rom
- Flash Gapps
Have no idea at the moment what I am doing wrong. In Odin it does not go forward because the file type should be md5 or anything else and in the forum he has only a zip file or do I think wrong and tried the wrong way.
Please help to install this Android 8.1 version and COM. Thanks.

You have to install the ROM and GAPPS from TWRP or other custom recovery. Flash the recovery with Odin then boot into it and flash the others. There is probably an Official twrp that you can get from www.twrp.me

That is one of my problems: when I use TWRP and add the flash, then he does not find the zip file. After unzipping I can see the folders from this file, but there is no file what he can use.
What do I am wrong?
Adding Screenshots have not worked because of a forum rule: "To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"

It should see the zip file, unless you have it set to only show .img files. There should be a drop down menu to toggle from zip to img and vice versa.

Thx @RealWelder here too. The installation has worked. Problem was, that I had only the TWRP app on the phone, but not TWRP recovery. After flashing this I came into the boot menü I needed for the installation.
Just to give somebody ans answer he/she is searching for the same problem.
For me its closed here.

Hello there ! Newbie here.
I've just updated my Asus TF700T to Cromi-X 4.7.0.
After the installation, I noticed that it was not rooted anymore. When opening SuperSU, an error message appears: "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSu cannot install it, it's a problem."
I tried afterwards a fresh install of Cromi-X, but the problem was still there.
Then I tried to execute the Motochopper script, which appeared as successful, but the error message is still there.
Do you know what could be the solution for this problem ? Without root, I cannot execute applications like lagfix, titanium backup and full screen, which is annoying.
Thanks in advance for your help !
And sorry for my english (french talking here !)
Sounds like the ROM didn't flash properly. Flash it again please.

I did, several times...
First I tried with and without the TWRP root option (after the Cromi-X install, TWRP proposes to root the tablet). Both of these two options didn't work.
Then I tried with full wipe, even the microsd (just let the Cromi-X installation archive on it). At this point, the tablet offered me the possibility of updating the supersu. I did update it, but when opening super su, the same error message appears.
I don't know what other test I can do. Any ideas ?
Thanks for your answer.

The only time I have ever seen this is when the ROM doesn't complete its flash in twrp. So it gets partially flashed.
When you flash you get the chance to save a log. It gets saved to the same folder as the zip file you flashed. Can you post it please.
Also make sure you turn on signature verification in twrp before flashing. My files are signed and this will stop it flashing a corrupted download.

Hello, I can't find any log file in the folder of my zip file... What would be the name of this log file ? Maybe I can find it somewhere else...
I have re-downloaded the rom from another source and try a new flash tonight.
Anyway thanks for your help ! (I just noticed I was talking to THE developer of Cromi-X Sir, it's an honor )
It's working now !
I flashed the rom downloaded from another mirror, and activated the zip signature verification, and it works now
Many thanks for your help, and your fabulous work on this rom.
See you soon on this forum !

Hey there guys and gals. Newbie here. I've read this thread and I am having the same issue as the original poster. I don't really understand what was said here but this is my question: if I downloaded the motochopper root app to the tablet and opened it from there and did the root right from my tablet would the root take hold then? I have an Asus TF700 by the way.
Motochopper is an exe you use on your PC. You cannot install it on the tablet. And it worked only up to firmware version 10.6.1.14.8.

Hi all,
Apology if this questions may already been ask millions of time but I am really stucked at the moment and hoping that someone may guide me to the correct direction.
I have got HTC One X-LTE (Evita)
I managed to get S-OFF and also CID - 111111
It has TWRP 2.6
The last time I got it working was on the STOCK 4.2.2 I downloaded from the XDA - then I got into the issues of rebooting and loosing signal from time to time. so I went into my TWRP backup I had and reflashed it using my old backup made from my TWRP.
the reflashed failed and now I can only boot up to the HTC logo and then black screen.
I can get to the TWRP recovery and I have got fastboot and ADB on my PC.
When I run the fastboot devices command --> it shows device connected BUT when i try ADB command ---> no device is found.
It will be much appreciated if someone can guide me to the right direction as I am really stucked at the moment not sure where to start.
I tried searching in the forum but I don't think I went to the correct area/tutorial.
Please help
Thank you
When you made your twrp backup did you select system, data, and boot? If it's hanging at the HTC screen it seems there is not boot.img installed or one that is incompatible with your backup. Open whatever Rom your backup is made from and copy the boot.img to your fastboot directory. Then reboot the phone into fastboot mode and flash the boot.img using this command.
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then reboot the phone and see what happens

When looking at the TWRP backup I copied into my PC - does not have the .img - the one I can find is MD5
Can I use the existing ROM I donwload from XDA like : EVITA_UL_JB_50_S_TMO_DE_5.08.111.2_By_Turge.zip
when I extracted EVITA_UL_JB_50_S_TMO_DE_5.08.111.2_By_Turge.zip - I can see the "boot.img" can I use this one?

Hi Sandy
Thank you again for your help
I finally got my phone at least booting again.
What i did was I went to the fastboot and then correct to the PC and when it was asking for format the drive, I did format it (fingers crossed) and luckily it let me see the ROm I downloaded from the Stock 4.2.2 Turge version.
Now my problem is that the phone keeps rebooting.
I don;t know how to flash the kernel as suggested on the front page of the thread.
What is the most stable ROM at the moment?
I want to learn how to flash and fix this - I have kept reading post after post but I still can not get myself to where I want it to be which is fixing the reboot issue from the STOCK 4.2.2 Turge version.
I am a real newbie so I am not too familar with some of the fancy terms people use.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks again

You can either flash the kernel, which can be found in the Android Development section, flashing the kernel is just like flashing a ROM, just install in Beastmode. Or you can upgrade your firmware to 2.15, the instructions are I'm the first post of the ROM thread.
Asking which ROM is best/favorite/most stable is against the rules so we can't answer that question.
When you say the phone keeps rebooting, does it ever make it into the OS or is it boot looping (showing the boot animation then starting over)?

When you said that flashing kernel is the same as flashing ROM, I did it By going to TWRP and the press install and locate the zip file. Is this what should be done?
What is beast mode?
Sorry for the basic questions
Thanks
Yeah that's how you install the kernel. It must be done after you install the ROM. I kinda worded my reply a bit weird, sorry about that. Beastmode is the name of the kernel, you can find it here:

I did try to flash it through recovery but it always failed. Not sure why. I copied the kernel zip file into my phone sd and then I went to recovery and press the install and located the kernel zip file but still failed.

Recovery is 2.6.3.
The process failed on not able to fine the MD5 file or something like that. We don't need to extract the Zip file do we?
Cheers
Disable md5 checking in settings. You never need to extract a kernel or ROM zip.

I have checked the setting in TWRP and nothing is ticked.
When I flash the zip, it is still saying "failed due to md5 does not exists".
I am not sure which should be address first but I now noticed that there is an error : "unable to locate storage device"
also came out.
When I plug my phone to PC I can see the storage but why it is saying "storage device not found" in TWRP?
Thanks
So we were trying to update my friend's Tab 2 to a 4.4.2 ROM. We got CWM 6.0.2.3 installed, and tried a ROM. Well this failed, and appeared to break other stuff as it now boot loops to CWM. Actually I think it's going every other book to CWM. Right now it's saying battery depleated. I've got it plugged intoa charger, hopefully it'll take a charge.
I did later realize we weren't using a new enough version of CWM, but regardless, any ideas how to recover from this? It does not appear to be able to go into download mode. It only goes to CWM. I've tried flashing other ROMs but that doesn't seem to be working either.
So...kinda stuck for the moment.
Thanks!

We have a winner... the next one who didn't pay any attention - i.e. reading the OP post of the ROM thread.
ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.x.y is ONLY for flashing CyanogenMod up to 10.1.3.
For flashing OMNI ROM or CyanogenMod 11 (both Android 4.4.2 at the time of writing) you _NEED_ to use TWRP (recommended for OMNI) or PhilzTouch Advanced Recovery or ClockworkMod Swipe Edition (recommended for CM11). See AndroidAndi's file repository to obtain a copy of the correct recovery for your particular model of the Tab 2.
Next thing to do: Download and install ODIN, install the "Samsung USB Drivers" (Google's your buddy), download the .tar.md5 of the recovery you want to flash (see above and make a choice), put the tablet into download mode, flash the recovery.
If that worked flash the custom ROM of choice (+gapps if CM11, +SuperSU if OMNI) through the custom recovery you just installed and be glad you didn't turn the tablet of your friend into a paperweight.

Speaking of not reading OPs and paying attention...I already said I realized that was the issue, and that I can't seem to get it to go into download mode, so that's likely paperweight land?

If you're down to "can't get it into download mode anymore" (I start to assume the attempt to flash some 4.4.2 ROM through CWM 6.0.x.x may overwrite partitions it's not supposed to overwrite) the only way left to breathe life back into the tablet is to resort to JTAG (UART port connection, CASUAL restoration package, USB Jig to force the tablet into UART mode).
If you search on XDA you will discover tons of threads by AdamOutler dealing with that topic, maybe that's useful to you in any way to figure out if that's an option for you.

I don't know where you downloaded the recovery. It is a .zip not a .rar.
And while reading the op you will notice the word flashable.
Just download the .zip to your device and flash it with your current recovery

I can't seem to get this recovery working. I'm flashing it from TWRP 2.3.2.3 on a tf101g but, although the it reports a successful flash and I observe the blue-green bar on the next boot, if I try to boot into the new recovery, it just hangs. I do see an error regarding being unable to mount /staging immediately after the flash mind. Given that this is where the blob is flashed to, is that indicative of problems and can anyone suggest how I might resolve them?
If not, I wondered what the *oldest* twrp it's possible to flash the latest KatKiss from is and where I might find it?

Did you also download the corresponding MD5 file to the same directory to verify you have a good download? A corrupt file might still flash but won't work necessarily. It should be recognizing your tf101g as such unless I missed something.

Hmmm. Interesting. I had downloaded the md5 file and had checked that it matched manually by running md5sum on the zip file and comparing the result to the contents of the md5 file. However, if I force md5 verification in twrp, it says that the two don't match and aborts the procedure. Redownloading provides me with the same version of the file each time, as checked with diff.
Another thought: could the blob itself be corrupted? Would you be able to supply an md5sum for the blob for to me compare against? Thanks!

The MD5 supplied is for the zipped package, before it left my machine. If you, move both files to ext sdcard, or wherever you intend to flash from, and double check that md5sum matches the MD5 inside the MD5 file, after they are both in final flash from directory. I could extract the package and do an md5sum on just the blob, but if it's corrupted that won't really help you. You could also extract the blob to internal /sdcard directory and flash with adb shell per the rescue instructions from the first post of the thread.

Install TWRP recovery
Hi,
I downloaded "signed_twrp-2.8.1.1_tf101.zip", but I don't understand how to install it.
When I use TWRP manager, I get a list of TWRP version up to 2.3 only.
When I try to use adb & fastboot command tools, it seems I cannot enable fastboot on the TF101 : Running "adb reboot bootloader" actually restarts the device in the normal mode.
Can you please help me with this? How can I install TWPR 2.8?

1. Download all the 5.1 Roms, Gapps, SuperSu onto your SD Card
2.Download the tf101 TWRP 2.8.1 onto your SD Card.
3. Use Easy Flasher Unbrick/Flash Stock and Boot into Android. Shut down.
4. Use Easy Flasher to load the older version of TWRP that works.
5. Boot into Android, shutdown at the start screen again.
6. Boot into Recovery, and flash the latest TWRP 2.8.1
7. Make sure your tablet is disconnected from USB, and reboot into Android, it should say optimizing App 1 of 1.
8. After you're in the start screen, reboot again into recovery. It should now be 2.8.1.
9. Install the 5.1 Rom off your SD.
Hello, I'm a noob at this so please be kind. I followed the below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tra...inners-guide-unlock-custom-rom-tf300-t3061648
I successfully:
Unlocked my TF300T's Bootloader
Installed custom recovery using fastboot
Rooted my tablet
Debloated the Tablet (Titanium Backup)
Backup up my current (OEM) SYSTEM ROM to microSD
So now I'm onto attempting a custom ROM. I'm a bit bored with 4.2.1 and would like to go to the same version of ROM my Note 7 has which is 6.0.1 Marshmallow or even try the new 7.0 Nougat.
I'm a little confused as to what ROM will or will not work. I see a few ROMS worth trying, but there install instructions reference a different Bootloader multiple flashes such as SuperSU or gapps.
Whats the best fool proof method to flash a new ROM with what I have and are there any simple one file ROM/ZIP/ Blob etc.. file that would do what I want?
Thank you.

Congratulations! Everything you did looks fine. So you are ready to install a custom rom. I would like to suggest one of the best: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/rom-t3453702 (You may follow up the tread and report there!)
Please take care very exactly on the installation instruction in post #1 given by Timduru. And don't forget that you need Kang TWRP [email protected] Download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/recovery-twrp-t3046479. That's mandatory!
Good luck!

Thanks. As simple as the process was, as a noob (first time attempting this) I was really concerned about screwing this up and bricking my tablet.
The one you linked to was one of the ones I was considering and hence my question regarding what works with what I have already done. The noob mind (mine anyways) finds a dozen questions at every turn. In this case I would ask the following:
Q-Do I have to use Kang TWRP?
Q-How is it different than the TWRP I used on my Tablet?
Q-Will I need to constantly change TWRP versions depending on what ROM I want to use?
Q-Is there a danger to switching TWRPs?
Q-Doesn't flashing SuperSU after I flash Gapps overright and erase SuperSU or is there some unique way to flash (push?) both at the same time?
Q-Many more I'm sure!
To the noob, almost all the instructions I read appear to be written for someone who as done this many times. The level of detail needed for the novice is just not there or lost between the jargon used, with many steps not fleshed out because the author assumes a certain level of expertise.
I will definitely read these threads as best I can, but in the interim, is there any ROM that are known to be able to be flashed via the TWRP I currently have? The author of the version I used certainly made it seem like it was that simple, load the ROM/ zip file onto the MicroSD card and when in Custom recovery simply use the INSTALL feature to navigate to the file and press a button to flash and ..."BAM!!" you are running a new ROM.

That version of KANG appears to be dead, as the thread has been closed and abondoned by the OP. So no new questions or help there....
Can I install that version over the top of my current version of TWRP the same way I did the first time? (change file to TWRP.blob etc.)

Please don't brick your tablet. First download Kang TWRP. It isn't dead. Try this https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347781183.

Yes you can.
However Kang TWRP is a xxx.img file. You also can use your current TWRP and flash the image file. Attached you will find an image and a zip version.

Sorry, bad choice of words on my part. By dead I meant that the thread was closed and I'm concerned getting answers would be harder as the OP was no longer actively looking there for questions.

Ok, so if I read your comment correctly, I can copy the .img file to an SD card, boot into recovery and flash it from there OR I can fire up fastboot and the same steps I originally did to install custom recovery from my PC to accomplish the same thing... either way I should still have custom recovery, but with the KANG version. Right?
THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU FOR RESPONDING TO MY PREVIOUS POST. I appreciate the support.
Oh no....
Well crap. I put the .img file on my SD card and boot the tablet into recovery, I flashed the .img file to the rovery not boot partition. All appeared well....but when I go back to see if I have KANG recovery, it hangs anbd says Booting Failure Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x000000000)
EDIT: After I cleaned my pants, I used abd and fastboot to flash the original Blob file using my PC. This restored the custom recovery. I was freaking out for a few minutes.
I didn't change the file name of the kang .img file. Should I have done something different?
EDIT: Successful recovery to Kang2.8.7.2 !! :good::good: I used adb and my PC to send the .img file (renamed "twrpkang.img" for simplicity) and it worked great. I'm a pro..:silly:

Bad luck! Could you please describe what does it mean? : "I flashed the .img file to the rovery not boot partition."

Not sure what I did wrong. I tried to do it within the old recovery menu and it hosed it. It found the file and mounted it successfully, but it seemed weird to be within the partition I was overwriting and writing to it. Kind of like you cant install windows while your using Windows...
The new version is much smoother.... Thanks, not to learn about this gapps super SU and how to flash all of these and in what order along with the ROM..as well as this wipe vs format thing...so confusing...
