Under 2 hours battery life on S7 Edge - General Questions and Answers

I have had this problem for quite some time... however I always thought it was completely normal until... I noticed it is not. I read many reviews about this phone found that I should be getting around 5 to 6 hours which seems amazing but completely out of reach. I switched from an old iPhone 6 which made this seem like much better battery life. I used to get a bit more battery life but now not anymore. I am rooted and have tried many methods but all have failed. I am running a close to stock ROM called 'The Galaxy Project' which I like having. I have wanted to post this for quite some time. I charge my phone overnight and need it for the whole day, however it dies at half of the day. I have:
- Always on display off
- Screen res on 720P
- Bluetooth off when I don't need it
- Easy turn on is off
- Mtweaks is set to be a balanced power consumption
- Greenify is running on many apps
- Battery health is approx 84% which is said to be 'good'.
Sometimes I manage around 2 hours and 30 mins but this hasn't been happening very often recently.
Feel free to ask any questions... I have read many forums and none have seemed to help!! I really want to fix this problem.

InsertCoin Battery Life

Hey guys. I've been getting increasingly tired of seeing pages of the development thread eaten by battery life information, questions, and screenshots, so I decided to open a dedicated thread for those that wish to discuss it.
Maybe I'm out of line, but it just doesn't seem like it belongs there in the ever-increasing quantity that it is. It's hard enough to get people to read for answers to their questions, so I figure lets have a place people can discuss this subject other than the development thread. Besides, most battery issues are not ROM related anyhow, but rather they are software and custom kernel issues most of the time.

I can go all day with one charge with medium use 12-13 hours and have 20-30% when I plug it in
I also have an anker in the mail
I get 3 1/2 hours of screen on time with auto brightness, 4-5 bars with 4G/3G enabled. That's running the latest build of Insertcoin and anker.
Here's a screenshot. I've charged it after 10 hours of heavy use until 45% from 15% and its still going strong at work right now.
Take this with a grain of salt, every phone is different and battery life varies for everyone even with the same usage patterns.

4.1.1 Exchange battery drain and intermittent notifications

I've never had any problems with my Nexus S until my battery took a hit with 4.0.4 and now with 4.1.1 it's being a total pain in the ass.
For reasons I cannot figure out Exchange goes nuts. I turned sync off and didn't even check email yesterday but my battery had 10% left after 5 hours. With Gingerbread my screen was almost always the #1 battery user but since then others have taken away the crown. Exchange or Mediaserver with Android OS being runner up if not finishing first on occasion. I've been consciously trying to not use my phone for much because using it for much of anything means I'm down to like 3 hours on a charge. The phone never goes to sleep, the "Awake" bar is solid or a very intense bar code while the screen is more black space than anything by a large margin.
I am also finding that sms notifications aren't notifying me like they should be. Like I received a text 30 mins ago that I didn't know about until I went in and checked and seen one there waiting. Notifications are enabled. But I don't get the sound or the notification in the notification bar.
I flashed JB stock soju 4.1.1 (JRO03E) and I am having amazing battery life as you can see in the image with mild usage of 3 hrs 25 min screen on time. Usually with active use of browsing on 3G I reach 4 hrs screen on time.
I also don't have any problem with notifications.

Wifi/Android System/ Android OS problems.

Hi, I need help on this. It has been days since my battery has gone haywire and I don't know what happened. I just saw that my WIFI isn't turning off even though i toggled itoff in settings/quick settings. I thought maybe a simple reboot may fix it but no. I came from CO12 to Exodus to Bliss but all have the same problems. Wifi isn't turning off! All my settings are stock. Kernels are stock also. I'm getting an average battery life of 3 1/2 hrs SOT which is awful for my usage. Also AndroidSystem and OS is killing my battery but I disabled Google PlayServices which should help. My only concern is the Wifi not turning off. Pls help thanks

Hi.
I use this app wich does only cut on and off the network: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.aDataOnOff&hl=en
(you can also apply a screen filter to help stop battery drain)
But I doubt its your only problem... I tested with and without the app, and the difference is almost not visible. Also, my wifi (when app off) is in third place on battery usage, and I have at least a good 5-6 SOT..

Some people say that it is a common bug in Android 5.0. Can anyone confirm?

The known bug with wifi is not battery drain but the difficulty to connect, to link the network.

SoT is a lie!

Hello XDAres
Read this as a foreword - it's not a must
I've been using my OnePlus One for about a year, and at first the battery was great, but after upgrading to CM12S it seemd like it got much worse. this case wasn't only for me ofcourse.. many other users of CM12s and basically any Lollipop device had complained about a decreased battery life. their evidence to that was their SoT- which used to be (and I'm talking about the majority) around 4-5 hrs back at KitKat days, and had dropped down to 3-4 once they had gotten the 5.0-5.1.1 Updates.
that was caused by a number of things- among of them was the Google Services Wake bug etc.
Now to the point-
My OPO used to get 4.5+ SoT ( Screen on Time) back @ Kitkat days. since the upgrade to LP it went down to 3-4 max.
And then I've tried something-
I simply changed the settings of display, to turn off the display after 30 minutes of screen idle (it was 15 seconds before).
And the results?

The suggested conclusion is- SoT is a lie.
If prior to the changes I've made on the display settings, I'd get ~15% @ the end of the day ( say 11PM/23:00 ) and a 3.5hrs SoT, I can now get to ~5% at the end of the day ( again 11PM/23:00 ) by simply raising those values. does it mean that I've used the phone more? well, no, it simply tells us that SoT isn't that trustworthy as we thought.
Opinions?
Of course your screen on time will be better with a 30 minute timeout. But all you are doing is having it sit, doing nothing until it finally times-out.
But yes, the way you're doing it is not telling a true screen on time with actual usage.
Most people's screen on time numbers reflect the phone being used during that time. :good:

Redmi Note 6 Pro battery health under 20% after two months

In mid-January I've bought a Redmi Note 6 Pro Blue 3GB / 32GB. My idea was to use it mostly for music (Spotify and Google Play Music) and video (Netflix and IPTV streaming) as a secondary phone. I was so happy with its battery life and overall performance in the first couple of weeks that I even considered using it as my main phone. However, after less than two months of very irregular use, the phone's battery life dropped quite drastically.
I tried a factory reset yesterday, but the issue remains. AccuBattery estimates the battery health at 19% of the advertised 4000 mAh. Do I have a defective battery? Because this certainly does not look like a software issue - I also tried removing all the apps I could to ensure there is no battery hoarder eating away my battery's juice, including most MIUI software through the adb tools I've seen recommended in a thread here and no luck. It's probably even worse than before. What should I do?
I'm running the latest MIUI Global 10.2 stable 10.2.2.0 (OEKMIXM). No root, bootloader is locked.

^ One and a half hours of battery life after charging it up to 100% post-factory reset. 15min after this screenshot, the battery is at 9%. How is this possible on a phone purchased less than two and a half months ago?
