Mx Player Pro Tip for delete files - MX Player

Hi guys, a question (i'm using mx player on nvidia shield).
When i have a list of files in a folder (opened whit mx player), if i select one (or more file) by keeping the "round" button of remote pressed, then usually i could jump to the garbage icon pressing on the bottom left of the round button. With the last update, i can't. You know how to avoid scrolling the whole list?
Thanks

We regret the inconveniences caused. As MX Player now features both list and grid view, the right and left keys are now mainly used for the navigation purchase. However, We will highlight this with our relevant team and work on the possible improvements in this.

[APP][2.3+] Music Player (Remix)

I'd like to introduce everyone to a unique music player app that I've developed called "Music Player (Remix)". I started developing it 4 years ago as a homebrew app on the old webOS platform. It quickly became the most downloaded homebrew webOS app. I eventually released it into the official webOS app catalog and it became the #4 top-rated app (#1 in the Music category).
As a user, I moved to Android over 2 year ago and of all the apps I missed on webOS, the biggest one was my own being someone who loves listening to music all the time (at work, in the car, at home, doing the lawn, etc). I tried out all the other music apps, and they all had their positive points, but none of them had the unique features I put into Music Player (Remix). So eventually I decided to build my own app porting over a lot of the features in the webOS version that users on that platform loved, but added a lot of new features and changed the overall user interface. Now everything is just a swipe away, even when you're not in the app! (read below for details).
When developing the app, I really wanted to think outside-of-the-box when coming up with the best way to do things in a music app. As a result, Music Player (Remix) has a lot of features and design concepts that you won't find in any other music app, but when you experience them you'll wonder how you ever lived without them.
Here's a list of some of the biggest features:
- Large, finger-friendly controls on phones and tablets. Tap the top of the album art to pause/play. Tap the bottom-right to go to the next track. Tap the bottom-left to go to the previous track.
- While using other apps, swipe from the bottom of the screen to reveal the "mini-player" allowing you to control your music & access your now playing list, playlists, and faves without leaving other apps.
- Notification when new songs are added to your device (can be disabled).
- Intuitive swipe navigation and gestures:
* Swipe from bottom for the Now Playing list and music controls.
* Swipe from right for your music library, search, help, preferences, and aesthetic customizations.
* Swipe from left for faves, playlists, and autolists.
* Swipe right on a song in the Now Playing list to remove it. Swipe left to queue it to play next. (customizable)
* Swipe right on a song in a playlist to remove it. Swipe left to move it to the top of the list. (customizable)
- Auto-generated playlists (called "Autolists") available based upon your listening habits.
- 5 customizable quick shortcuts at the top of the Now Playing screen. Assign various functions to each one included Add to Playlist, Save bookmark, Lyrics, Share song, View YouTube video, and much more.
- All screens are optimized for portrait & landscape orientations.
- The Now Playing screen has been optimized for 7" & 8.9"/10" tablets. (Eventually will be modifying all the app's screens)
- All library browsing screens have several display & sorting options.
- Save bookmarks in a song & visual markers will appear on the scrubber bar. Tap prev/next to jump between bookmarks or use the "View Bookmarks" option to select a bookmark.
- Any time you play a song, a bookmark is automatically saved when you leave the song. To go back to the previous play position in a song, use the "View Bookmarks" option.
- Download album art for any song or album. Select from several choices with different image resolutions. Album art is embedded directly in the music files.
- Download lyrics and embed directly in the music file (or optionally save in an external text file). Pinch/zoom the lyrics to change the font size. Karaoke feature for recording yourself singing along.
- Advanced playlist management including drag/drop song re-ordering & multi-add mode. While in multi-add mode, go to any screen within the app and tap songs/albums/artists/genres/composers to quickly add them to the playlist.
- In-app wikipedia browser available for albums, artists, genres, and composers.
- Jellybean expandable notifications with super-sized album art and music controls.
- 5 band equalizer with built-in presets, bass boost, and virtualizer.
- Last.fm scrobbling with caching during internet outages (no external app required to be installed for scrobbling).
- Stylish 4x1 & 4x2 home screen widgets with customizable color & opacity.
- Various lock screen control options including basic controls (ICS+), advanced mini-player controls (ICS+), or the 4x2 widget (Android 4.2+).
- Fine-tuned controls for quickly skipping backward & forward by 5/30/60 seconds. Long-tap the pause/play tap area to reveal (or hide) the controls.
- And much, much more!!!

He says it's in the google play store.
The forum rules at the top of this forum section indicate your can't post links to your app if it's commercial. So I didn't post the link. The trial version is free, so am I allowed to post a link to that?
But anyway, you can find it in the Google Play Store or Amazon App Store by searching for "Music Player (Remix)".

Thanks! I wasn't sure how to interpret the rules, so I erred on the safe side. Right now I can't post links anyway due to my limited post count, but once my account gets upgraded/updated, I'll post the link to the trial version.
But in the meantime, please search for "Music Player (Remix)" in the Play Store and you should find the trial version. Try it out and let me know your impressions in this thread.

Version 1.4.3 has been released to the Google Play Store and Amazon App Store. It has a new autolist called "Breath of Fresh Air" that allows you to play a random mix of songs you haven't played recently. It also contains a bunch of bug fixes.
The 14-day free, fully-functional trial version is being reset for all users!
Here's the complete changelog:
- (New Feature) Add 'Breath of Fresh Air' autolist (random mix of songs not recently played).
- (Bug Fix) NuPlay new song notifications sometimes did not appear immediately on certain devices.
- (Bug Fix) If the 'Auto play when loading app' setting was selected (on the 'Miscellaneous' Preferences screen) and you switched orientations while the music was paused, the music would resume playing.
- (Bug Fix) The basic lockscreen controls would sometimes still appear even after disabling them or even killing the app.
- (Bug Fix) If you switched to a bookmark from the widget or notification controls and then brought up the mini-player, the song/album/artist info would be blank.
- (Bug Fix) Fixes for various causes of app crashes.
- (Bug Fix) Users in a restricted profile under Android 4.3+ may not have access to all apps (such as a web browser), so before launching an external app (for instance to view a web page), verify the user has access to that external resource. If not, display an error.

Thanks, let me know what you think.
Immediate reaction... Its really good  the options given are so much I need some days to fully check it out properly
Just one suggestion for now... I missed the play/pause and next/ previous song buttons. Then I found out it was hidden in the album art. A small downfall there.. And when I first opened the app... The music directly started blasting ( a heavy metal one ) and I freaked out. ( was alone in a dark room... Imagine my horror!! )

Yeah I plan on adding a welcome screen to introduce users to the user interface. But I figure most people like you figure out where the controls are.
Yeah the first time you load the app, it starts a "Shuffle All" list. It won't auto-play on subsequent loads, unless you turn the option on via the Preferences screen (tap the gear icon at the top of the right-side sliding panel).
I'd still prefer a seperate play/pause and prev/next buttons.

You have them, but they're incorporated on the album art for 2 reasons:
1) The controls are much larger (finger-friendly). It's so easy to use without even looking at the screen. Really nice in the car (when docked).
2) Removing the separate controls allows room for the customizable preset controls for one-touch access to your favorite functions (bookmarks, lyrics, album art downloading, youtube videos, album & artist search, etc.)
When designing this user interface I wanted to think outside of the box. Give it a try and I think you'll really like it once you use it awhile.
I guess it was in the opening post
Didn't read it well will see it through and nice thought

Have a bit of dilemma...
Hi, I'm using your app as of now (while typing this post) and it's pretty great, but..
But when I press the Next button on Album Art, sometimes the music forwards due to pressing the music time-line (or what you might call it) accidentally. Also true and vice-versa with the Previous button.
Any fix and/or suggestion pal?

Are you talking about the fine-tuned controls (5sec, 30sec, 60sec backward/forward)? If so, just long-tap the pause/play section of the album art to toggle those controls.
If you're talking about the scrubber bar, it shouldn't be anywhere near the album art...at least not close enough to affect the controls. If it is on your device, please post a screenshot (or send me one to hedami DOT support AT gmail DOT com).

Remember track for each folder

I noticed that MX Player remembers which track was played last, but what about remembering which audio/video track was played last in each folder? That would be a great feature!

Amazing. That's it!
This feature is great but is it possible to also jump in the tracks list to that position? When I select the last media for a specific folder it plays that track but when I get back to the list, it shows tracks from the top instead of the selected track. With a list of dozens of tracks a lot of finger work is necessary to get down to the current track
Pressing twice to go back to the track list in unnecessary. One is enough.
Thanks!
Can't you use that Play button that shows up at the top of the list, and it would play the last file in the current folder?

You have misunderstood.
It's already implemented.
But,There is no new buttons. Only Resume button functionality has been changed. If you are in root of folder list where resume button will resume the last played media. But, If you are inside a folder, then it will resume the last played video in that particular folder.
Note:
Usually Resume button will be in the top right side above the list. On some lower end devices it can be accessed by pressing options/menu hardware button.

Thanks, but there is a lot of misunderstanding here. I know I can resume the last played track on every folder, but the track list is not updated with the position of that track. It still shows the first track on top.
As an example, if the track being played is the 100th, when I go the track list, it shows the list from the begining instead of showing the position where track 100 is.

What do you mean by track list?
Are you talking about video list?
By default Video list will be always showed in alphabetical order. It won't directly scroll down to show the last played video. It's just a video library.
Right now there is no playlist like options to list the videos in que. If it's implemented, it has to be auto scrolled to the last played file in the que when the playlist is resumed.
@bleu8888
Take a look at this feature request.
> " It won't directly scroll down to show the last played video."
This is what he's requesting; he's asking if when a folder is opened, that the folder could auto-scroll to what MX remembers was the last video played in the folder, instead of defaulting the folder view to the first entry.

Next/Prev buttons and seek not working since phone upgrade

I love this app, it's been my standard media player since my first Android phone.
I upgraded from the Galaxy S5 to the S7, and the player isn't working quite the same now.
The next/previous buttons used to load the next/previous file in the current folder, now next does nothing and previous only returns to the start of the current file.
The seek gesture, as I used it to seek ack and forth the video image would update while seeking so I knew where I was. Now it only updates after I lift my finger off the screen and stop seeking.
I assume there are settings I've missed for this, but I can't find them. Any advice is appreciated.

Isn't that the same setting that means when a video ends the next video starts automatically?
On my previous phone, the next/prev buttons loaded the bext/prev file, but when I finished a video it would return to the list and not automatically play the next vid.

Actually when back to list enabled, previous /next button won't change the track. I have already asked the developer to enable previous / next even if back to list is enabled.
Hopefully next update will fix the issue.

Hi
I use MX Player on my Galaxy S4 (i9505) with LineageOS 14.1
For me, the previous/next button does not work anymore.
Settings > Player & "disable back to list" has NOT solved the problem.
Whether enabled or disabled.
I use MX Player synonymous on my other phone and have importet these settings to my Galaxy S4.
This also has not solved my problem.

First one is not a bug at all. In recent version of Samsung file manger & Gallery it uses content scheme instead of file scheme. For example it sends some odd path to MX Player (like Content://[email protected]/external/video/12345)
You can confirm it by opening the properties while playing the video. In this case MX Player won't aware the actual location of the file. So, it's almost impossible to use next/previous as the content folder is unknown to the app.
For the second one, Goto Settings >> Player and enable Preview while Seeking. That's all.
"You can confirm it by opening the properties while playing the video. "
Thanks for this note.
The previous/next track button works again. :good:

Random Video Playback Order?

I'd love a (hopefully simple) feature that simply lets MX Player list the contents of a standard video folder in a random order (which changes every time I start the app) :good:
I've got a fairly large folder of videos that I often watch, but I currently have to scroll down & randomly stop & select one to watch, which is a pain as I'm sure I miss many, but if they were displayed in a totally random order, selecting one from near the top would make my life so much easier!
I've currently got it to display by frame rate as opposed by name, which gives a different (but fixed) order, but this is not really what I want.
Have I missed something & my request is already in the latest MX Player Pro (on Android) ??

Just open any video, then ooen menu > Play & enable shuffle. Now just long press the video folder that you want to play randomly & tap on play from the top toolbar. It will play a random file for you.

Option to hide video zoom button, API for sending title+year for opensubtitles search

Can you please give us an option to hide the video zoom button in the lower right corner, as I never use it, since you should watch the video at the resolution it's supposed to be in.
Also can you create an API for when you press search subtitles it will take that title/year and search for it in opensubtitles.org to give you the best results. Instead of just going off filename. Give us the api option for our app to send you the title/year info to then send to open subtitles.
On another note, give us an option for subtitle preferred "Forced"
Thanks alot! The player would be perfect after these options are added.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions. MXPlayer already provides an option to enter your own keywords while searching for subtitles. Have you tried the same?
With regards to your request on forced subtitles, would you mind elaborating more so that we can share your concerns with our relevant team for further review?

I know you can enter your own, but it would be nice if you had an API for developers to send the movie/year to that field so it automatically search for that instead of depending on the filename.
Forced subtitles are mainly for English films or tv that contain a few forced subtitles that can be like some small Spanish parts or elvish from Lord of the rings for example. They are mainly called Forced or English Forced. Right now you give us the option to choose our subtitles that automatically are picked, but there is no option for Forced, just English. I don't want to have subtitles for the whole movie I just want them for the portion where the language they are speaking isn't English.
But can you please give us an option in settings to hide the zoom button on the bottom right of the player. It would make the player perfect for me and others..
Also can you give us an option to disable the up and down function on the player. Like the volume or brightness. I don't use either of those as I use the app on my TV, I accidently turn down the volume all the time.
Thanks!

Yeah! For me it is only two small things before it’s perfect:
1. The video scaling button should be removable to prevent accidents (we always want it on”scale to fit” and won’t ever use that button).

Yeah those are both good suggestions.
I'd like the ability to turn off the up and down function, since I don't even need to change brightness and I change the volume from my remote volume buttons . So having the option to disable that would be great.
Oh yes I agree. I constantly change mx volume by accident. Disabling the up/down action would give me peace of mind.
