Hey guys, I'm experiencing a major issue -
When I use running apps (tried a bunch, the issue occurs in all of them) the GPS signal gets lost after about 1:10 minutes.
The thing is - it happens ONLY WHEN SCREEN IS OFF/ PHONE IS LOCKED.
For instance, when I use Waze, where the screen it always turned on - I have a clear GPS signal the entire drive.
Also, when I use the running apps while walking and using my phone - as in screen is ON - I get a clear GPS signal.
Only when I turn off screen (as in lock phone) - I lose GPS signal after about a minute. EVERY TIME!
So far, I've come to the conclusion that:
1. Phone is not defective, since GPS works great with Waze/Running apps while screen is turned on.
2. Not a GPS-Antenna issue since I know that when I walk the same route with screen on - the problem is on.
3. Not a specific app related, since it happens with all running apps.
Please help me, I want to be able to know my running distance
Thanks!
Please help

Go to:
Code:
Settings → Battery → Battery optimization → Tap the 3 dots in the top right corner → Advanced optimization
and turn off deep optimization.
Note: your battery life might get worse because of that.
Holy hell!!! It worked!!!
Is there a way to keep deep optimization on EXCEPT for running app?

Hey everyone,
I need your help figuring out why my Touch Pro 2 will not enter sleep mode on it's own. For some reason, the back light will dim, but the screen will stay on even though I have all my settings correct in the power management settings. Has anyone experienced this before? I think the fact my phone will not sleep automatically really impacts my battery life as I can barley make it from 7AM-5PM with barely using it much. It use to work fine, but now it doesn't. I've even done a format of the device twice, but still that doesn't seem to fix the issue.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Not sure what programs you have loaded but try cold boot, see if works. Then check as you add one program at a time.
There is also an option under settings/battery/advanced to force the device to sleep after a period of time.
@ Aspesi4
Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm having the same issue.
I'm not sure when it started as I have a habit of putting the phone to sleep manually before I holster it.
If I lock the phone, the screen will dim, and at intervals, get bright again on its own. If I leave it at the TF Home Screen, it will stay bright and never dim.
I just can't bring myself to hard reset this phone right now . . lol. Maybe when I have more time. For now, I'll keep manually putting the phone to sleep .. . . sort of a muscle memory thing anyway. I wouldn't mind fixing it though, either.
Nope, never solved this problem. Sorry, I think you're on your own on this one.
I have also been experiencing this problem. I just got my Verizon Touch Pro 2 about two weeks ago. I have only added a handful of apps (WinMo MarketPlace, NetFlix Mobile manager, AP Mobile News, WeatherBug, and Shazam. I am pretty sure it was doing this before Shazam.) I think the phone was doing this even before I installed anything on it, but not certain. This is what I noticed;(I had T-Mobile's version and it did not have this issue.) I was amazed that my new Verizon Touch Pro2 was draining its battery life much more quickly than my TMobile version. Then I figured it out; when ever I get any notice on my phone (missed call, text message, phone notification)the screen lights up. This is normal. However, what is not normal is that the screen stays on until I manually acknowledge the notification or I manually hit the sleep button. I have the power management settings to turn off the backlight if not used for 30 sec and to put the phone to sleep after 1 minute. I tested it a few times to see if it would eventually turn off, 1 minute, 3 minute, up to 15 minutes and it still stayed on. . .
htc touch pro 2 won't enter sleep mode
It's the weather program that keeps it awake ...Slider Bar -> Settings -> Data Download Weather -> Uncheck download weather automatically
htc touch pro 2 won't enter sleep mode
"It's the weather program that keeps it awake ...Slider Bar -> Settings -> Data Download Weather -> Uncheck download weather automatically"......
Agreed it is the weather program.
Specifically I turned off my location data collection..... Settings > Location > Improve Location Service (Slide to off). This worked! However out of interest I switched it back on and my backlight still sleeps OK, I just hope this problem doesn't keep randomly popping up.
I'm experiencing the same issue, suddenly...
But when I re-enable the Location option, it won't go into sleep...
Any ideas how to fix this?
bloddy idiots. HTC adds fancy animated auto-downloading weather at GPS location and break the ability to turn the phone on or answer calls! Quietly BRILLIANT!!!!!! idiots.
Overall I'm really enjoying the ROM, but I'm having a few minor issues/questions I didn't see listed in that thread.
1. Maybe it's Apex launcher related (because they work with the TWlauncher), I'm missing the calendar month view widget. I can only get the agenda
2. Custom power savings followed by pressing custom power savings settings causes a force close (com.android.settings)
3. After turning hotspot/tether on, then off -- I can't turn it back on without the phone restarting (the phone freezes up and restarts on it's own)
4. With juice defender running (I can't replicate it with JD off) -- after JD powers off the wifi and the phone goes to sleep, if I turn it back on the "bars" on the wifi indicator don't work. Wifi works perfectly, just the icon is wrong.
After a reboot, it goes back to normal until JD turns off wifi for the first time (screen shots attached)
5. When I look in the battery stats, it shows my mobile network signal as yellowish, with GB it's usually green. Am I getting worse reception?
Thanks!
I've only had my nexus for a week now and I'm trying to hunt down the reason I'm getting poor battery life. At first it was nlp wakelocks but that went away on its own somehow. Now its my wifi draining battery, in 8 hours of idle overnight it went from 100% to 79% and wifi was the top usage. I've never seen this before on any phone with any rom so I'm not sure what to do about it.
Hi,
Try Settings/Wi-Fi/Menu/Advanced/ and untick Scanning always available...
This is what I did to improve my battery:
1. Location Services : If you are not in a neighborhood with a lot of wifi spots you will most likely feel this draining your battery life. Under settings make sure that Location Services is set to battery saving and not High accuracy.
2. Widgets : Weather widgets, games eat battery by constantly fetching information . Check the settings for these widgets and make sure they are using wifi and not updating the weather information every 30 mins or so. I keep my settings to update weather information every hour to keep it reasonable. The Gmail widget sometimes eats your battery too. I removed the widget and used an icon in the dock at the bottom to check my email. Another thing I noticed was that some widgets are just more battery intensive than others. For example I found HD widgets consumed nearly twice as much battery as Chronus on the home screen but both displayed the same information.
3. Restart your phone : Sometimes residual processes from closed apps could cause issues. Restart your phone if you haven't done it in a while and it should clear up any unnecessary things.
4. Keep wifi on during sleep : I made sure my phone uses wifi even when its sleeping. 3g / 4g eats the battery like crazy if you turn off wifi when your phone sleeps. This should be a default setting as pointed out by some users. In my case it had been changed probably when I was tinkering with the phone. You can find this setting in the Settings -> Wifi -> advanced -> Keep wifi on during sleep.
You can also use apps like Greenify , Tasker , and Llama.
5. Don't use Automatic Brightness : Turns out if the sensors are constantly looking to adjust brightness it takes up more battery. I set my brightness at around 60% and it works just fine throughout the day.
6. Use wifi over 3G/4G/LTE if possible
7. Switch off wifi when using Data: Android doesnt switch off your WiFi when you use data because Google wants you to use it for Locations and help build their database of networks.Switch off WiFi completely when using data to save a good chunk of battery.
8. Turn off Vibration on touch : Typing uses quite a bit of battery over the course of a day. Try switching Vibration on touch off.
9. Use Franco Kernel: : This will require rooting your device however it makes it a lot more power efficient.
10. Turn down the Facebook refresh rate : Make sure it updates not very often( every 3-4 hours) or never. IMO your phone is better off without Facebook or any other battery hog social networking apps.
I'm having an issue where it takes fund minutes to lock location on the phone. The problem is most noticeable on Waze. I turn Waze on every time I get in the car (the speed traps alone are worth it), and sometimes it's half my trip before it locks on.
The location is set to high accuracy, and it does eventually lock on. My 6p would lock on in one second.
Anyone else? Thanks

I've seen issues in Waze as well, with both GPS lock and the Compas going screwy...
Have you guys tried running gps status or gps toolbox?
What settings do you have selected in location settings?
On my v10 if I enable the additional low power Qualcomm IZat location estimation option, gps runs all screwy.
Id like to know if gps is hit or miss, as its another of the main features I need and use on a daily basis, along with Ok Google..
My Pixel is now locking GPS in a few seconds after I open Waze. Probably even faster than my 6P.
For anyone else having these problems, here are all the steps I did (not sure which if any of these actually solved the problem)
1. Uninstalled Waze. Turned off Location. Rebooted into Safe Mode (Long Press "Power Off")
2. Once in Safe Mode, turn location back on, open Google Maps outside, let GPS lock (that time still took a while) and use navigation for a while
3. Rebooted the phone again into safe mode. reopened Google Maps and let GPS lock on
4. Rebooted the phone normally, open Goolge Maps first to make sure GPS was working. Then installed Waze
It's been working pretty well for the past few days.
I'm still seeing issues with the compass, I get a GPS lock quickly, but it always shows I'm pointing 100-160 degrees off from my actual heading. Tried using GPS status to calibrate, it now says I'm calibrated, but I still see the issue, even in GPS Status. The compass points in one direction, then once I start moving, the GPS corrects the heading to my actual direction...
I've never had this issue with any other phone, very frustrating.
Hey there folks!
Since MiA1 does not have double tap to wake, or you just want funcionality of waking screen and be ready to go with ANY flip case you
might have bought (and screen off when you close it) here is a simple guide to achive so, i have been testing it for 5 days and so far it works flawlessly.
So far im getting only 1% of battery usage overall, meaning the app itself is NOT keeping CPU awake, only the proximity sensor to determine if the case
is closed or not. Really battery friendly overall. Dont know the bad reviews on PlayStore - people moan about anything these days and app does not
work well with any device, but with A1, its a bingo.
1. remove your lockscreen security (set to none) - this is up to you! If you have your phone with you at all times, it
removes the need to do extra steps (draw pattern, PIN, etc...). If you prefer to open case and be taken to locksceen, skip this step!
2. install "EveryCover" DOWNLOAD - !app is add supported! - also, there is paid version which i have so i support the dev, but free one works just as well!
- enter ap and activate the service (works by using Device Admin)
- tick "Auto start at Boot" - so service keeps running after restart
- tick "Service in notification bar" - it will prevent app to be killed by system - more on that later!
- you can even set the time period in which app is inactive (ex. - when you sleep at night)
3. Test the funcinality. Just open and close your case, like you normally would (not 2 times in 1 secs, right ). In my testing of daily usage it almost never "misses".
The screen on is almost instant when you flip the case and screen is set to off after 1 sec of closing case. I tested many many times to see if the screen really switches off, and it
works great. I will also mention that it seems to work even in almost pitch dark (!) and no problems on indoors on evenings etc... It seems that the app is really good at listening to
sensor, or we have a really good proximity sensor on A1!
OPTIONAL STEPS:
Now if you are perfectionist or just like me, 2 things may bother you with this setup, and i will also explain steps how to deal with them.
4. persistant notifications - if you enabled "Service in notification bar" there will be constant notification which may bother you. To deal with this, just long press
on the notification and switch the toggle to the right. (or you can go to app settings and do the same, turn off notifications)
5. "EveryCover running in the background" notification - the last problem you may encounter, altho only the visual one, can be pain to watch. To disable this notification just download this app:
HERE!
Just enter app, grant permission, select "Press to select apps" and choose EveryCover.
You are done! This way, you have:
- working screen on/off solution for ANY flip case
- clean status bar without unnecessary notifications
- persistant service that will NOT be killed by system or after restart
- all that with only 1% of battery usage and no impact on performance what so ever.
Dislclaimer; I am not a dev of any apps mentioned here.
Cheers, hopefully this helps someone!
Magnetic wake / sleep works if you can find a case with magnet placed at correct place built in case.
Phone wakes and sleeps when opened or shut automatically with this feature. Don't be confused with smart cases as not the same thing. I'm late with this reply but works with many phone Inc all my xiaomi phones
