I'm just curious if I can just block the front camera unit intentionally using a case that covers all sides and prevents the sliding mechanism from moving. I almost never use the front camera anyway. Only for video calls and for checking my face(Pink eye/dust/food).
Kind of a dumb post but I'm legit curious

I don't even use the selfie cam for any of those things. I'd love a case that locked the phone in tight and protected all the corners. I have a bad feeling if this phone falls in a bad way the whole things going to explode.

Actually having a moving parts may help reduce impact forces. On my old desire z the keyboard used to pop out when dropped and it was always fine.
I need this also!
I actually just created an account to say that this is exactly what I'm looking for. I don't need the selfie cam so having a case that blocks the slider, while protecting all corners of the phone, would be awesome. And if I ever need the selfie cam I'll just take it out of the case for a second. I've spent hours looking on Amazon, eBay, AliExpress, GearBest, but wasn't able to find a case that blocks the slider. So any help would be truly appreciated...
Not gonna happen
I really don't think such a thing will ever exist. Think about it. If a company comes out with a case that blocks a feature of the phone it will be negatively rated into oblivion!
Use an iPhone XS Max Case it fits good trust me, the rear cameras hole will be a but bigger but it will lock the moving screen, by the way i throw it on the wall one day I was very angry nothing i swear happened i was so sure, and ut dropped on the stairs once nothing its really solid trust me.

Add me to that list! I had high hopes for the modular movement, that they might eventually put the ffc in a module that I could delete. I did find a case that not only slides, it also protects the upper screen corners at the bottom of the phone. It's the case with the glass back, which is thick enough to protect the camera when you put it on a hard surface, and it has a thin sliding bead that runs all the way around the edge of the screen and slides up and down inside the case. Normally I carry the phone without a case, but I put a case on when travelling.

HTC = Great quality
No real problems it's such a solid phone, so much so that developer "Blue61X" has bought two of these phones.
a few people said they had dust under there screen but i doubt you need worry, enjoy your slide, its got some real great things going for it all of a sudden the development section here has gone from ~ none to a lot of awesome ROMs.
YES THERE IS ONE THING
Open up a few different boxes and feel the keyboards. We don't have the best keyboard on a phone, they are built strong and built to last, but make sure your specific phone has a keyboard you are content with. My friend has a mt4gs and his keyboard feels better than mine.
Also I just noticed u said ur getting a mytouch 4g, don't get the mytouch 4g, get the mytouch 4g slide =)

And. Get the anker 1900 mah 2 battery set that comes with the wall charger off of amazon.
This way u can keep one charging and one being used.
The stock battery gets hot, wears out fast, and the heat is bad for your phone in general.

Great phone, keyboard, front camera, good back camera, big screen, good processor. Overall its a good phone, only complaint is the genius button. I wish it was just regular search but you can change that if you're rooted.

Thanks guys! I've had good and bad luck with HTC in the past but this phone just looks amazing all around. I am buying this phone pre owned also. If I don't feel it's right, then I definitely won't move on it but I am excited to see what it has in store! Will update after I check it out.
The only real issue is battery life. If you can afford it, buy a Mugen; otherwise, get the Anker two-pack.

Gotta say overall I love it. Got it brand new, about a month old, for $160.
Here's why. The screen has the oh so lovely dust particles formed under the screen coming from the bottom left and shooting to the middle of the screen.
I thought HTC learned by now?! Either way, I'm happy and in my eyes i stole it from the guy.

you may be able to get the dust removed under warranty. All 4G Slides still have factory warranty from HTC.
Just check to make sure there's no water damage and that one of the screws on the back is covered by a VOID sticker.

I know this because I just sent my phone in. Took 5 days to ship out. It's going to Texas. They turned it around on the same day. I was amazed. But they do tell you repairs can take anywhere from 6-10 days not including shipping. I'm sure they just say that to stay safe.
You have to pay for shipping though. They will not provide a label.

Awesome. I've never done warranty before so I'm all new to that. I imagine I just ring them up and go from there?
I am not the original owner of the one I sent in.
Neither of mine have the dust issue - mainly because I keep them in cases.
I attached some pictures below - they are pocket sized cases, fit with the trident case around the phone, and have pockets for accessories and batteries.
The zipper on the cases keeps the dust out, and the outer nylon shell makes it slide in and out of my pocket easily.
Notifications are not muffled by the extra layers of fabric, the sounds pierce it quite well and is no different then being in your pocket, vibration works full as well.
Just a thought - but for something this expensive and tiny, I try to take as good care of it as possible.

Heh, well, I want to carry my recovery microsd card, which has a factory restore image on it and other recovery utilities...my usb thumb drive with all of my data, recovery tools and android SDK as well as portable programs on it...then there's the retractable USB cable and cigarette lighter adapter for a car...
The only thing I can't fit in the primary case (black/grey) is an ac adapter, but the rest fits and it's nice and slim.
The other case (red/grey/black kodak) has the second device, video cable, ac adapter and the factory usb cable. It's a bit bulkier, and not my daily travel - but still fits in an upper pants pocket without trouble.

Haha... well I also suppose they would go for something a bit clearer knowing that there's a camera behind it. If not clear, a plastic that's a bit more scratch resistant. I really doubt it's glass let alone gorilla glass.
I think its the same type of plastic used on the lens cover of the Desire. For that reason i'm a but worried because the desire's scratched easily and became blurry from carrying the phone around in a pocket. Mine even had a crack in it.
Since the Desire had a removable back this was not a problem, you could replace the back or, as i did, push out the lens cover completely. But this is not possible One X. One X takes very good videos and photos and i dont want to ruin it with damaging the lens cover so i will definitely place a protector on it asap.
Wondered the same thing when buying it because it seems without a case the phone rests on the lens when played on its back. Got a case soon after just incase though, but i'd love to know for sure.

It's not. It isn't cost effective, the optics wouldn't gain much from it because they're not the best. And the lens focuses past the lens cover.Just like a filter on a dslr.

Another user stated that HTC will replace the screen for $220. Not cheap, but ot horrible either. Its not an easy repair due to the way the One X is constructed, so trusting it to a 3rd party repair shop may lead to mixed (or horrible) results, like this one did (and probably won't save you much money over using HTC):
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1799736
Thread also mentions the HTC repair for $220.
That price from HTC isn't bad at all considering insurance deductibleb would be $200 along with the $7 per month you would have been paying. Plus, it's done by HTC.

How can I really be sure that the Nex5 I am going to buy will have the tighter power button and larger speaker grills?
Does the serial number matter?
Because I've read that some of the phones with 312k serial numbers have the tighter buttons and larger speaker grills, but some people say that their 312k phones look the same as the original 310k models.

My original 310K has some backlight bleed if you really look for it only appears in very dark dark movie scenes

Its just a manufacturing tolerance as stated by another XDA member. If you buy a brand spanking new device from google play and or a carrier you most likely get the newest one.

Yep..we've had several claim the button is so loose that lightly tapping causes rattle and noticeable vibration. A slim piece of cardstock (like a business card) behind the ceramic button cures it... carefully remove the back cover, insert the sliver of cardstock, replace cover, enjoy.

It is hit or miss. There are solutions, but you seek reassurance that doesn't exist, rather than solutions.

Does any1 know any pure wood cases for the 6P.... I do know about toast but its technically not a case... And it's application is a bit tricky...
Thanks!
Cover-Up's #WoodBack is on the way...
Cover-Up are working on some wood / polycarbonate snap cases for the 6P as we speak! They're due to land at cover-up .com in a few weeks time. If you wanted to drop us an email we'd be happy to let you know when they're ready?

Sent a DM with my mail... Thanks for the heads up
Just out of curiosity, can you tell us where (regionally) your wood is sourced from? And are the cases made/assembled in the U.K.?
And finally, would the Snap case protect the rear camera visor of the phone?
Cheers!

No problem!
Our wood is sourced from all over the world, depending on the species. Some of our woods come from the US and Canada (for example our Walnut and Maple), whereas others come from Asia (Bamboo), South America (Mahogany and Purpleheart) Africa (Padauk and Black Limba) and Europe (Carpathian Elm Burl). The wood is transported to our small studio in South Wales, UK, where it's laser cut and hand-sanded before being combined with our TPU/polycarbonate snap cases.
Our cases for the Nexus 6P will be a variation of our standard #WoodBack case called the #WoodBack Explorer case. These cases are made with rubber-like edges for added grip and impact protection, and feature a raised bezel to protect the screen. Due to the "snap on" style of the case, it will offer some protection to the rear camera visor by very slightly raising the rear of the device from any surface when placed face up.
I hope that helps, any other questions please let me know

Glad to hear the case will be of the Explorer series! It would be really nice if the top and bottom of the phone were also protected by the rubber bumper. Consider my interest piqued, and I'm looking forward to product photos in the days (weeks?) to come

That sounds interesting. Have you ever made one our of purple heart wood? I know it's a really hard wood thus making it hard to sand/cut

We actually do make one with purpleheart. Fortunately due to the small size of the finished piece of wood (and the benefits of using a laser for cutting!) we don't really notice any extra work with this in comparison to our other woods.

Unfortunately we can't engrave Nexus on the back of the case because we'd it's a trademarked logo and so we can't replicate it
The good news is cases will be available for pre-order in around a week's time, and ready to ship in 3 weeks time. I'm sorry that the wait has been longer than expected, but we wanted to make sure the cases were 100% right before they're listed for sale.

Will you guys be able to make wood case with inbuilt Qi receiving pad? I'm interested in getting 6P but the lack of wireless charging is holding me back

Such a case would require your USB C port to be occupied all the time. There hasn't been much interest according to another qi thread here, since our phones charge so quickly and last so long.
I do wish wireless charging was here though [emoji53]

Maybe they could make a male C plug and a female one on the case, with the qi receiver.. That would ensure that you can plug in the cable as well
