Hello,
I've been experiencing with emulation on my phone recently and noticed something rather strange : it seems that Xiaomi didn't implement Vulkan in Android 9 (even in the Dev ROM). Would this be a "feature" that we can easilly enable or a driver that's missing entirely ?
I've seen posts that talked about other Xiaomi phones where the guy made a flashable zip to "patch in" Vulkan support.
Is there such thing as a flashable zip to enable support for Vulkan API in the latest Dev ROM for the Mi Mix 2s or is it just impossible ?
Thanks for helping out ^^
Some sort of Support seem to bei there.

Well I know that it is supported but it's not implemented in the latest dev rom (or stable rom) of Xiaomi. The API is not exploitable by any app on my phone : 3DMark, Dolphin and more.
If you have any solution regarding this, it would be super duper noice

And I'm also running miui eu 9.2.14 which you might wanna check out.
I also got 4556 score and beat 100% of this model and 99% of all lol

To have this app working you must have a Lollipop rom that supports Camera2 API, and currently these API aren't supported by any rom for the OPO. Official Lollipop update should implement this API, but not in the first release (this is what the team said). Currently the only devices that support this app (and these API's) are the Nexus 5 and 6, stop. So this app cannot be ported, you have to wait official update

Camera2 api isnt implemented in any ROM for the OnePlus One yet! But it is said cyanogenmod 12S will come with manual camera controls at the cost of clear image ! They say the chipset doesnt support HAL3 which is required for implementing camera2 api so they had to resort to workarounds . What remains to be seen is will Oxygen OS eventaully implement this api into their ROM!
Thank you for your complete answer. Now I understand)
Heads up guys. Official MIUI based on Android 7 will be coming to our device. Just like the MI3(and MI4?), Xiaomi decided to skip an Android version which totally makes sense for obvious reasons.
From the official Xiaomi English forum:
A very good news for all Android version lovers and geeks ! The Product Manager of MIUI, Ranger has just*revealed on his weibosaying that Mi 4c to be upgraded to Android Nougat very soon ! Let me translate the whole Chinese sentence to all of you.
Mi 4c, Mi 4s, Mi Note Pro and Mi Max will be upgraded to Android N soon. Please download MIUI Forum app to obtain the latest information and updates.

Big question is when. Anyhow, not really excited as the MIUI skin makes Android OS barely noticeable.
EDIT: Forgot to add the link to the source: http://en.miui.com/thread-439882-1-1.html

as long as kernel driver is shared to dev, then good news. otherwise, i won't even touch MIUI again.
Thank you for the great news, but for what I know from Xiaomi, I'll belive when I see it.
I think miui is Rubbish,so i Like RR or CM or MK(AOSP,AOKP)at all
I'm looking forward to it. I have no problem with MIUI as it is fast and delivers the best camera results. I believe Nougat will have much better battery life than Lollipop. Also, Mi5 nougat users noted that mpdecision was enabled. Hope it's the same for 4c!

I'm pretty sure that won't happen because they released a version of the source and further updates are not required by the Linux licence from what I know.
Miui is on the don't touch list for me ... (Yuk!)
At least we'll have proper/updated vendor blobs & baseband to use on our custom roms.
Hmm... Just wait for it... Probably its coming when Android M announced..haha (random guess).
For now they (xiaomi) support latest OS on latest device too...
All we can do just hoping for old device to get Latest OS..
Hello !
Question is:
What will "Teh Scene" make out of it.
SMIUI= global Rom, and company. If the obtain it, I will give it a try.
Miui 9?
Good news
Envoyé de mon Mi-4c en utilisant Tapatalk
Great news! But I'm not sure if that will make a difference to MIUI 8. If it's MIUI 9 on Nougat then I'll probably try it.
I hope they will release kernel, so devs could make custom Nugat roms, that have good driver and kernel base.
Then I will order one more MI4C with 2GB of ram for 100$
Good news. But i hope improvement camera too. Because imx258 in mi4c is not powerfull. ?
i couldn't believe it actually, i had to double check when i saw it on gsmarena. that's excellent news ! i wouldn't expect this kind of support. i only hoped for some marshmallow back in the summer and that's all. however, i believe the update should at least improve the atrocious standby power draw and the camera's low light abilities, even the cheap p9 lite with a dated im214 does better in low light. i would also love some long exposure options.
Yesterday there was no weekly update for mi4c is published, so they are working on Android N for mi4c for sure...

Thing is, MIUI is rubbish. UTTER rubbish especially after they introduced MI-Cloud (iCloud spoof) feature to their phones.... Im never going back because my phone appears to be MI-Cloud locked while I have no idea who and what has possibly the resetting feature for this. I cant even upgrade to MIUI 8 due to this crap lockout feature.

My first ROM posted on XDA.
This is a port of Redmi 4X final Chinese version of MIUI 8 developer(7.7.20) .
WHAT are the difference from other Redmi 4X port?
-MIUI 8
-"Stock" kernel for better battery saving and less ANRs
-Full f2fs&Dual Boot Patcher support
-FC fixes
-Power off alarm
-CDMA sim cards support
-more optimizations for better experience
WHY it's MIUI8 not 9?
-there are various of MIUI 9 ports from Redmi 4X.
-MIUI 8 has stopped developing so that I can focus on more optimizations instead of keeping updated as stock version.
-There are always someone who likes to use MIUI 8 instead of 9 for some reasons.
-Camera related files of MIUI 9 has changed a lot .I don't know if the camera bug will be easier to fix on this ROM.
BUGS
-Camera and all related functions except flashlight.
-Fingerprint will not be recognized after next reboot
-VoLTE

I didn't .The date is just a number in build.prop and you can modify it if you want, but nothing really happens.
I don't know what the patch level exactly is ,and because porting roms take files from everywhere,so there is no exact date.

Those security updates are very important. They are there to pin down those vulnerabilities. Take the Blueborn vulnerability that was pinned down last october 5, 2017 security update. It makes the device more secure aside form SEPolicy. So those arent just numbers to modify on build prop. They mean a whole lot. Well aside that, thank you for this port and hope to see more. People are really treated by MIUI so badly. They boast that they provide updates but those updates like on beta are not necessarily android updates but are just apps updates. Thanks for providing stock nougat.

Since this ROM is based on los 14 so if it has nothing to do with MIUI Android framework ,there will be no vulnerabilities.

Does our device support vulkan? If so, how to activate it on stock ROM?
Multiple system information and benchmark apps show 'vulkan not supported'. I've heard VULKAN API considerably improves Gaming and emulator speeds.
Not to be rude or anything, but where did everybody go? A lot of threads are getting one to two replies and some are not getting replied to at all...

7/23 GSI RR isn't really a daily driver. Camera is not good. I tried Open Camera and it just flashed color to b&w and back. Picture quality was still poor. Bluetooth headphones don't work--audio doesn't come through. No VoLTE (of course). Probably other issues I didn't notice or forgot.

Xiaomi makes nice phones but they aren't considered development friendly. It might be a while before a few AOSP ROMs are available for the Mix 2S and there won't be as much development for this phone as for the cheaper Redmi models since those sell a lot more units.
The Mix 2 had global LTE bands out of the gate and because of that it was available on Amazon right away and was reviewed by tech sites that pointed out it was the first Xiaomi phone fully compatible with LTE in North America. There is official TWRP for the Mix 2, official Lineage and some other development although it is pretty limited.
For whatever reason Xiaomi did not do the same thing with the 2S. It initially came out with much more limited band support than the Mix 2 unless you purchased the 256G model which had global LTE support. There was also no announcement at launch that there would later be a global version so reviews in the west said the 2S was incompatible with North American LTE unless you purchased the most expensive variant and those reviews were never updated after the global model was released.
Because of this a lot fewer people (in North America at least) ended up purchasing the Mix 2S compared with the Mix 2.
The result is no official TWRP and no development so far even though the release of the Mix 3 is just around the corner.
Official LOS is apparently in development but there probably won't ever be a lot in the way of AOSP ROMs available for the 2S and the handful that are will be buggy because the devs will be auto-compiling those ROMs since they aren't likely to be using the 2S themselves.
The Mix 2S is probably never going to be a good phone to own if you don't want to run MIUI. Maybe Xiaomi's policies will change in the future but at the moment they seem to have no interest in encouraging third party development for their phones. They see themselves as competing directly with Apple rather than as an Android brand which is also the case with Samsung.

I used the official and the unofficial version found on XDA. Both worked fine for me, expect some minor flaws, some glitches as it's a work in progress.
I used it as a daily driver and for what I'm using it it's working just fine.
I'm on pixel experience now and it's really good too, will stay with it for now.
RR has lots of customizations that's where it shines. As I don't need all the features and prefer a clean AOSP near experience I switched to PE.

Yes, go to the Project Treble section of XDA. It's available there.
It works, but Bluetooth and some dedicated functions seem not working. And it is so stable, especially if you rely on Xposed and Magisk for daily use.

Bluetooth is broken on all GSI Treble ROMs for this device. The Mokee ROM posted in this forum is actually stable enough for daily driver IMO. Just make sure to follow the instructions in the thread from Hyapatia.
