Vivo nex replacement...> V15 PRO - Vivo Nex Guides, News, & Discussion

This looks to be the true next upgrade of our beloved Vivo Nex s
https://www.theverge.com/circuitbre...-megapixel-pop-up-selfie-camera-february-20th
Besides the insane 32mp selfie cam, the camera package on the back is looking "enhanced" and you can now clearly see a slim earpiece and an even slimmer chin! Just praying that they do not down size the screen in any way.

..and her is the pic:

The problem is that it seems to me that it is equipped with a significantly lower processor in vivo nex s

Would be my Nex device if it had been the Snapdragon 855, but vivo will introduce such a device & I'll be waiting...., The NeX S is just a joy to use.....:good:

Upgrade? Less ram, slower proc, smaller display, smaller battery... it's a downgrade.

I don't think this is a replacement for the NexS. Maybe the NexA. Smaller screen (6.39),battery (3700mah), lower processor and significantly cheaper. It also seems very India specific.

Real successor of Nex S will unveiled end of spring earlier summer most of the case.

I like the back. It doesn't follow the iPhone copycat trend either.

What's the closest or better competitor (same size & specs) in your opinion?
HTC One Max.
It's a beautiful phone with comparable specs to the Note 3.
Course, that's if you can get over the sealed unit with non removable battery and no memory card slot.

Costs the same as the LG G3 but has no camera lens stabilizer and less memory. Besides... it's made by Oppo!
Oppo = unreliable!
Oppo has a very bad reputation amongst Home Theatre lovers... it's a young company that cuts corners on warranty and tech support.
Looks like LG G3 or another Samsung...

I made a little matrix and I agree: the Xperia Z2, LG G3, hTC One Max are the closest devices to the Note 3.
Oppo is in a completely different reliability, quality, reputation, brand, etc league. It's like comparing a shoot off between Maradona and Pelé and trying to squeeze in a player from a 3rd level local league only because he can boast o good goal average! Specs alone mean nothing...
 LOL!
But I do appreciate, very much, all the suggestions, including the Oppo. I looked up all these devices and I'm considering the LG G3 and the Experia Z2. In the end the screen size will decide it, I think... Experia Z Ultra is a generation behind the Z2/G3
Last question: does the android community develop for both the One Max, Z2 and G3?
The Note 4 will be announced at the Samsung Unpacked event on 3 september 2014, two days prior to the IFA, in Berlin.
It'll be available in the shops around the last week of September worldwide, and the first or second week of October for the US.
Most high-end devices today have specs near to the Note 3, the only difference lies in the amount of RAM.
OP trust me. If you were using note 3 then only the Note3 itself or Note 4 can meet your expectations. No other phone is worth it.
Let me tell you some of the major faults in current flagships that is like a stab in the back of N3 user if he tries to move away from N3 :
1. HTC M8: low res camera. Boomsound grills placement uncomfortable to pick up calls on left ear. I.E 1/3rd of the grills on the phones left side are not open. You need to carefully see it. Well note also that 2/3rd of the grill holes are not cut out on the bottom boomsound speaker.
2. One Max : Low res camera.
3. Z2 : inconsitant camera photo quality at all but 8MP superior auto. Overheats a lot. Unable to record 4k > 1 min because camera app force closes because of overheat. 4k recording is pretty inconsistent. Sunlight visibility is pathetic.
4. G3 : Beware of this beautifull monster. The contrast ratio is pathetic.. its in 3 digits. Everything will look dull to you as especially you are going from N3 infinite contrast ratio screen. Sunlight visibility is, let's put it this way, screen is not visible in sunlight.
S5: Lesser battery life compared to Note3. Lesser internal memory compared to Note3 , if 32GB version is available then it's ok. Also the dimpled back is no match for N3's professional stylish black leather finish plastic back. Also black N3 has brushed metal look in bezels.
So my suggestion is to wait for N4 or buy another N3.

I read with your post with attention. Thank you, I appreciate the time.
- hTC M8 has a 5" display which is too small for me: I want the 5.7" or more.
- hTC Max One is closer to the N3 in size at 5.9". On the hTC One Max I like the fingerprint security but I don't like the 2GB Vs 3GB RAM... I am constantly at 3/4 RAM usage on my 3GB N3 even using Greenify and Clean Master Apps... so I'm not so sure that 2GB is enough for me... Plus the Snapdragon 600 is a bit slower than the 800 but not really a deal breaker. What is a deal breaker for me is the lower quality display: I went in a shop and on a sunny day the display is invisible! An other problem, as you pointed out, is the images which it takes... overall, not as beautiful on my PC screen as the ones from the N3. So the hTC One Max is out of the contest.
- Z2 has a smaller display so I didn't consider it.
- Z Ultra has a nice size display but not as nice under the sunlight... and Sony won't help me confirm which version runs LTE radios on both band 1 and 3 as I use 2 carriers and I need both bands. So Z Ultra too... bye bye.
- G3 I read your comment:

Trusting you and other reviewers but I do like the Optical Lens stabilizer...
- S5: Display too small
So I agree with you... since my N3 is not working I have 2 options: buy a second hand N3 and wait for the new N4 or send my N3 for repairs to some repair shop as Samsung Hong Kong will not recognize my warranty (4 months old phone).
By the way, can anyone help me to find out which is the country of origin of my phone? Samsung Hong Kong said it's not an HK phone but won't disclose the country of origin which is the only place where I can claim my warranty!
And... beware of the Hong Kong internet shop www.imobilephonex.com!!!
Before purchasing I emailed them asking warranty details and they replied "it is covered by an international warranty".
Problem is that this is false: Samsung HK told me that it is not and to call the seller to obtain warranty. At www.imobilephonex.com a guy called Jacky Ng asked me 300US$ to handle the "international warranty"!

Rumour is that this isn't the Nex2 but another model due out next month. The NexS is ideal for me since I rarely use the front camera.
yes lets hope there is still a proper nex 2 instead of this non sense
The rumour say that this is not the Nex 2 but a variant of Nex.
I am not totally sold on the idea of having two screens. It can be be cost effective and a screen take more physical space inside then a camera module which will result in smaller battery. I really dont like the the slide solutions I am sorry to see not more adopting the pop out camera solution. Elephone and Vivo is alone in this right now as far as I know
For me a perfect successor should have no chin, triple camera setup, wireless fast charging and upcoming snapdragon flagship processor.
SD card, and nfc, and wireless charging would be the ultimate. I could care less about a selfie cam... I've only used this one a handful of times just to show it off... LoL
5000mah battery, stereo speakers and a 2k screen is all I want. Maybe the no notches on the edges like Oppo Find X.
Good to hear Vivo is experimenting with unique design and approach but i realy don't like the dual screen idea.
First of all you won't be able to use any kind skin and cases.
And second one having a second screen at the back there's double of changes of broking screen.
I do not want to have any worries and concerns about a possible back screen broken glass only worrying about the main screen broken is enough

yes I know but will be much more limited choices from third party cases.
And of course no skin no party to me.
This design is DOA to me and many others I believe.
The more unique device the less support from third party accessories.
Imagine that Vivo Nex has now very limited support from accessories aspect I don’t want to think how much less with dual screen device will have.

I’m only hoping for AOD improvements and adding accent color customization and native black/dark theme.
Vivo theme store is completely garbage and as we know substratum theme won’t work on Pie without root.
That’s my only wishes for improvements.

exactly what i thought, NFC and wireless charging and Nex 2 is good to go and thinner chin will make Nex 2 a perfect phone.
I dont think the leaked pictures are true, simply the design looks like an unfinished prototype. Also this will not be called Nex 2 . It wil lbe called NEX and then some other letter probably. Anyway, not sure what to think about the dual screen, in the current form I dont like it..
Now it seem the inifinity O display will be the next big thing... I just think the pop up camera solution is the best it allow 100% screen to body ratio.
I Think people in general have WAY too much fear of the electronic motors will fail. Have we seen any if of these motors fail yet on vivo nex or oppo find x ?
I can only talk about myself but I dont use the selfie camera that often, and I know a lot people are like me... the motor will hold for many years for me.
Well we are few hours before the announcement of the device.
The event will take place at 7:30 PM China time.

The bad news the battery capacity is 3500 compared to 4000 on Vivo Nex.

The OnePlus 7 the forgotten one?

Watch the video here:
I was lucky enough to attend the OnePlus 7 series launch and got to try out The OnePlus 7 and answer the question who is it for? Well lets take a look at the specs first starting with the screen, a 6.41 inch Optic Amoled sounds fantastic especially at a starting point of only £499 but it pales in comparison to the 90hz QHD behemoth of the 7 Pro, plus there’s a tear drop notch which slightly obscures the viewing experience. Very similar to the OnePlus 6T in fact, however it does have a newer snapdragon 855 chipset with up to 256gb of built in storage and 8gb of RAM meaning the Oneplus 7 is no slouch and will perform like a beast especially with Oxygen OS.
Another major change from the OnePlus 6T is finally finally dual speakers, an omission that OnePlus fans have been craving for a very long time and now OnePlus has made good but in all honesty do these changes really justify upgrading from your OnePlus 6T and I would have to say no. Hear me out for a minute, yes the OnePlus 7 is using LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.0 2-Lane storage, the same 3700mah battery, a very similar screen with an in display fingerprint sensor and dual rear cameras one being a 48mp Sony IMX 586 with an aperture of f1.7 and the secondary camera is a 5mp autofocus f 2.4 sensor, as opposed to the 6T’s 16 and 20mp cameras. But at least the 48mp front camera is an improvement over the 16mp front shooter of the 6T.
The build is first rate and feels premium with the glass back and aluminium frame sandwiched between the screen and back panel, the dimensions and weight are almost identical to the 6T, It will come in the mirror Gray which you can see in this video but also a red version specifically aimed at the Chinese and Indian market which gives a substantial hint at who the OnePlus 7 is aimed towards.
To be honest the OnePlus 7 feels super smooth and lightening fast, but then every device from OnePlus does, running android 9 out the box adds to the experience and should help gain some extra battery savings.
So the question is who is the OnePlus 7 aimed at? Ok well if you live in North America clearly not you as it is not being released there, It is however being released in the UK sometime in June. Which is an interesting choice not to launch it alongside the pro variant but my guess would be this decision is to start pushing the pro which lets be honest can no longer be called a flagship killer as it is a flagship. If you have a 6T then this is not really a viable upgrade for you as I feel the OnePlus 7 is really a OnePlus 6TS, If you are coming from an older OnePlus device or are on a tight budget then I conclude this is probably aimed at you. Great device overall but not ground breaking, what do you think?
OP appears to be pricing this around $400-$450 in China sui it really makes me wonder what their strategy. Also makes it more irritating that they're forcing the 6T on us here and charging us more for olderb tech.
Leaves a real sour taste in the mouth for OP.
I'm looking forward to some real reviews of OP7. Coming from OP3T I find the device interesting, but there is a lot of competition at this price point and a lot of more expensive phones have become cheaper since their launch.
I find the 7 Pro too big, I hate the curved screen and the price is too high, but that's debatable.
My shortlist so far are Zenfone 6, Samsung S10e and Xiaomi Mi 9.
Even Huawei p30 pro has come down in price from 1000 euros to 650 euros, making it only 100 euro more expensive than OP7.
The 7 is the same upgrade as usual. The 7 Pro is another phone made for a different customer.
As always the 6 month upgrade is not worth it. For 6T owners the 7T will be their next worthwhile upgrade.

And stereo speakers.
I import the OP7 to the US and I love it. To me, it's a vast improvement over the 6T, even the screen seems slightly better, and I'm not sure if that was really touched on. Love the stereo speakers, fast FP reader, speed and even the camera over the 6T. Transferring multiple and large files to the computer is also much quicker.

No issues. Super easy, just download the official update for OOS and flash from the official updater in Hydrogen OS using the local upgrade option. The zip just has to be in the root directory. After flashing, and rebooting, I did a full wipe to clear any residuals, and began to use like normal. The easiest update to official international software ever.

Totally agree with you. I've been really happy with the 7. It's fast and I just love the stereo sound over the 6t. Most 6t cases can be made to fit too. Just had to do a little trimming around the alert slider with some or around the camera LED on others with a xacto razor. I used the official 6T tempered glass on mine too because I could order here from OnePlus directly. That was a direct fit needing no modifications.

Good to hear, I've got some cases and tgsp leftover from the 6t. I've been excited about stereo speakers (without the mod) and ufs 3.0 storage speeds. Can you comment on any difference in speed vs earlier OP phones? Funny question cuz they've always been the fastest and smoothest phones in the biz, I know!

I didn't bother rooting because I liked the official software just fine because it didn't have any bloat. I just flashed the software from the official OP page in the Hydrogen updater. I did hear that some resellers are installing international for people though, mine had hydrogen os. https://support.oneplus.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4360
The phone is certainly faster, but it's not going to floor you over a 6t. It is much smoother than a 6 and a 5t which I still own. The UFS 3.0 however was much faster when transferring files to and from the device, I noticed that immediately. On the current update, I'm really happy with the camera too. They fixed a lot of the low light issued and sharpness issues in regular lighting. I think the screen is slightly better than the 6t. I know it wasn't advertised really, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but it looks and feels a little better. It's not night and day difference or anything, just a little better IMO. Maybee you'll recognize the same thing since you will have used both phones.

The fingerprint scanner really is more accurate. The only time I still have trouble is if my hands are slightly wet. I got the regular US type plug charger with mine. Mine was brand new and sealed from Oppomart. Mine is GM1900. 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Yes I've noticed the wet or recently wet hand thing on the fps of the 6t, like if I washed them and my thumb skin is hydrated for a short time before drying it throws the sensor.
I also have the GM1900 on order (eBay US seller never_msrp $539 8/256) and hope to receive a US style plug. Reportedly the Chinese version vs Indian or EU version which would include the different plug type.

I had trouble with the fps on the 6t but I live in a dry high altitude environment in Colorado so dry rough fingers. Reports say the 7 is much improved. Thoughts?
Did your model come with standard US charging brick? What model number? From where did you order?

My friend has 6T hence I just compared it. FP Radius is much improved. (Approx. 6T - 0.5cm and 7 is 0.7cm),
Also Sensor is damn faster. I bet it's equivalent to my previous OP5 front hardware scanner. 6T is much slow
I'm happy to see a lot of OP7 GM1900 users here. This is my first Oneplus phone and i really enjoy using. Bought mine from a seller in Macau for MOP3550($441) 8+256. No complaints so far about performance
Same here! GM1900 as well - got it for ~$482 though mine was already flashed to Oxygen. Noticed the OP7 forums much quieter than usual, I guess most of the attention is on the more expensive and flashier OP7pro which is warranted, but to me this phone is like "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" !
Hopefully more dev's jump on the bandwagon and start showing it some much needed love.
All I need now is Magisk + root + adblock!
Got mine for the same cost. Yes strangely quiet in here. Some confusion I think pre release before people knew there would be a Pro model. We definitely need more activity on this forum as this is clearly the superior phone

Would You Like The Flip Camera To Return on The Zenfone 7?

Would u all like to see the flip camera return or go back to the regular front facing camera for the next Zenfone? I'm sure the next Zenfone will be announced in a few months I'm still happy with my 6 but not sure about the camera. According to rumors they got rid of the flip camera. I did love the flip camera for panorama shots and motion tracking I thought those were great ideas.
Do u want the flip camera to return for the Zenfone 7?

No: I prefer a notch especially because I miss face unlock.
I love this phone exactly as it is. The camera design is fantastic and mechanically brilliant. Having a phone without a full screen seems insane to me. Either have less screen across the top for the cameras etc or the current configuration. Notches look silly/pointless.

LOL is someone working for Asus making these threads? Zenforum, XDA, Reddit. My understanding is the flip cam was expensive to make, makes the phone expensive to repair, and is the 6 is the worst selling Zenfone. If those facts are true, I highly doubt the next Zenfone will have a flip cam.
My preference would be full screen display, no selfie cam, no notch, non-flip main cam. But that's not going to happen with any manufacturer, I suppose...

Manufacturers are working on under display cameras.

Same for me. I virtually never use the face cam and the fact that it cannot be activated without me knowing about it is a huge benefit.
So yes, zenfone 7 with a flip cam would be great (but please use an OLED display).
I prefer it but I rarely use it.
Hell Yeah.. I love the flip screen instead of loading a phone with cameras, helps save some money as well getting a super selfie camera.... will be glad if asus added waterproof phones and a wireless charging as well instead of spending on too many cameras
Zenfone 6 is unconvincing in year 2020 - fringerprint in the back, low freq display, slow USB, slow UFS, behind in 2 generations of cpu. So it's a no from me but it caught my interest for vanilla OS, battery, SD, jack. Since Zenfone 7 will have a notch, literally destroying one of 2 highlights of the phone, i consider this model series dead to me.

Eh, I don't know about all of that. This device is pretty solid, and USB speeds for transferring aren't bad. Display gets the job, UFS 2.1 is nice to have instead of emmc, and the CPU is still great for the price.
Flip not Bad rarely use it but
<500$ price
Big Display ( Great LCD since OLED BUrn IN )

Absolutely yes. I'm considering getting a successor to the Zenfone 6 whenever it comes, but I'll only do it if it still retains this mechanism.
1. This alleviates some privacy issues of always having a camera pointed at you, not knowing if it's recording or not.
2. Selfie quality obviously is a huge factor.
3. Pano shots
4. rear fingerprint unlock is anyway faster than face unlock, and more importantly more reliable
This is the USP.. why wouldn't I go with so many other options otherwise...
Please retain the flip front camera!
Other requests: Change the screen to AMOLED. Add a tele lens as well.

This is what I'm hoping for the Zenfone 7 this or a small single punch hole selfie cam

I would not like either option. In fact, I am happy about having no camera facing me all the time...

Same.
The whole reason for the Zenfone 6 was the uniqueness of the flip camera. It's time to improve the camera, add a larger sensor, a better IPS display(many manufacturers are going back to IPS LCD these days, so it'd be great if they use a better quality IPS screen), and keep just 1 model with 2Gbps LTE, and 4 or 5Gbps 5G NR instead of model A, model B, model C.
Asus had a lot of production problems last year. I hope that's not the same this year too.
Zenfone 6 came in the news on 3rd April last year. It's already 5th April, and no news of the Zenfone 7. I hope they don't disappoint us by launching it with a notch, or a front facing selfie.

Advice from p40 pro owners

Hey whats up , just looking for advice /opinions from p40 pro owners
Ok got me the oneplus 8 pro on (H3G) UK and well that was a big let down in the camera department and battery life not to mention display issues , anyway within my 14 days I can exchange to pretty much any phone they have so camera is pretty important so I toy'd with idea of p40 pro but without Google was a bit off putting so I decided on the S20 Ultra and well let's say I'm not blown away with the camera on that,
has just been updated and is kinda beta especially auto focus was main issue at the time , so my question is should I while I'm still in my 14 days retun S20 ultra for the P40 pro as s20 ultra 100x zoom is well waste of time I know anything pretty much past 30x is a blurr but over all watching YouTube video although samsung looks more natural colour's the detail of the p40 pro can be slightly better its very subjective in most comparisons I can get over the fact there's no Google but should I switch or stick with the ultra and hope samsung can improve further anybody actually switched from s20 ultra to p40 pro and regret it or are you much happier , I know on paper s20 ultra spec wise display ok 120hz at 1080p isn't ideal but display is beautiful and 12gb ram and stereo speakers and tech better front facing cam ,again subjective . I just don't know want to do , thanks for reading hope you can help decide , Lol stay safe [emoji4]

Personally, I'd prefer the P40P and that's not just because it's cheaper and better value depending on how your needs. It's also important to summarize and weigh up the pros and cons for both devices. If you're in the UK with a Exynos CPU, then I'd personally avoid the S20 Ultra altogether due to the hot attention it's been getting for its inferior battery life and CPU performance.
Screen - Samsung (120hz, brighter and higher quality display, no huge pill-shaped punch hole notch)
Battery Life and Charging - Tie IMO (P40P's 5G chipset is more efficient since it has a built-in 5G modem and Huawei tend to be more memory aggressive with closing down background apps). Exynos S20 Ultra isn't as good as the Snapdragon model as it's less power efficient so its chipsets just aren't created equally. Some proof shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63T5lrDivn8
Camera - P40P (doesn't have the auto focus issues, has superior night mode, slightly better zoom, front cameras are one of the best and even though the wide angle has a smaller field of view, it's a far bigger sensor which lets lets you capture better detailed shots)
Software - Samsung (as Huawei are banned from Google Play Services but you can still sideload most of the apps you need)
Overall aesthetics and design - P40P (mainly down to personal preference but the S20 Ultra is too big and chunky in my opinion and the sleek Frost Silver back, along with the smaller and tidier rear camera bump makes it a winner for me in the attractiveness department)

The OPPO Find X2 Pro is very similar to the OnePlus 8 Pro though. They have near identical camera specifications (same main sensor), battery size and screen.
I see it as an overpriced version of a OP8P and with inferior software updates since OnePlus are better at releasing new firmware regularly than both Oppo and Samsung. I wouldn't consider it.

If you're purely after a flexible and strong camera performance across all lens and don't mind losing Google Play Services, the P40 Pro is almost impossible to beat in my opinion. The latest .131 firmware update that just came through about a week ago further improves its shooting performance and it can now take macro shots to an extent (I've posted a few other photos in another thread).
The S20 Ultra with its Exynos chipset is just not worth it. Every user has complained of auto focus issues, poor battery life versus its Snapdragon variant and the price tag has set a lot of expectations for perfection which Samsung couldn't deliver (there's a reason why the S20 series sold 50% less than the S10 series and petitions were started demanding Samsung to answer why they separated these two chipsets across various regions) - I'm not against Samsung but this is a sign that there's problems with this phone. The autofocus issues and its inability to take close-up shots are supposedly being fixed in the Note 20+ though.
The OnePlus 8 Pro on the other hand is the best all-rounder I'd say and I'd choose it over the S20 Ultra any day because the screen is just as good as the S20U, has Snapdragon 865 and not the Exynos and is regularly updated with new firmware (a friend of mine coming from the P30 Pro said it was a nice upgrade). It takes great videos too and is amazing value.

I've had the 8 pro and wasn't at all impressed tbh camrea wasn't good and battery life and screen issues with greys and black looked wrong and washed out are stick with P40 pro I think it has best camera option that I'm after and battery life and optimization is Stella on Huawei's I can always install my bank app on tablet so not a deal braker tbh to hell with trump hopefully once he's out the ban will be lifted ,

OP8P's camera is a solid performer, but it's far from a flagship champion in the photography department in my opinion since the P40P is superior in both hardware and software.
Another reason why The P40P is also great in the battery life department is because there aren't any Google Play Services and other Google-related processes running in the background 24/7. I can disable most of Huawei's app services whenever I want, including their App Store, HiCare, HiSearch and their other apps quickly and easily. Yes, even though the battery capacity is only 4200mAh, Huawei has great RAM management and it's not as bloated anymore with other unwanted apps (at least the global version is pretty clean).
I have both the S20U and P40P, i have to say the Huawei is the better device hardware/software wise i u set it up properly HMS/GMS/ICE BOX. I previously had a P30P and i loved it thought i would go Samsung but honestly they are not top of the crop even if the price is.

I'm really into the Hardware and aesthetic of the phone, and I think the P40 Pro is the best on the market in that aspect. It really feels premium and worth the price. It's the perfect size and weight and the materials are top notch. The Samsungs S20's just don't feel their price which is the first thing that lets it down to me (the Note 10's were much better in that respect).
If you have some patience and are good with technology and can side load GMS on the P40 Pro I'd definitely recommend it. It's the first phone out of the recent flagships that I want to keep for the next 12 months.
Another option I'd suggest is the Oppo Find X2 Pro. ColourOS I actually find I prefer to Oxygen OS. The camera is excellent and the phone feels and looks quality.
Thanks good to hear , yes had p40 lite briefly had issues getting GMS working on that but alot of the vids aimed at the p40 pro gave up with it in the end , hope to have more success with p40 pro just to be on safe side and to get my Google fix I've also ordered a oneplus 8 12GB green so will have the best of both worlds preferred it over the pro having the p40 pro as main camera phone dont see the point in getting another pro as well Roll on Monday and good buy Ultra [emoji3]
