Hi,last Sunday I bought an almost-new G930F;on monday I flashed Netherlands rom.
I've used and adjusted it some days but there are somethings than I don't like it:The rom has the face, instagram, skype apps, and Gear Vr Services. This app has surprised me with high battery use, really exagerated.
The rom has the 2019 genuary patch installed.
I would like to known which rom doesn,t has these apps,or when they were supplemented in the roms....I would like to test some Stock roms before flashing custom roms....I have a s5 and the perormance with stock 6.0 is excellent...
Your comments and experiences are appreciated,Thanks in advance from Spain!

Hello
All Stock ROMS have those apps pre-installed there's nothing you can do about it if you just want a stock ROM. However if you want to get rid of those apps you first have to root the phone then use any app remover from Google play store to get rid of what you don't want.
It is much easier to install a "Stock" Custom Rom which has all those apps removed and then your battery life will be great. There are lots to choose in the Rom section of this forum.

For better batterylife, temperatures and peformance, better sound and display. A good custom kernel will improve the phone a lot bro imo.

This is also my first nexus device... I have always had HTC before and rooted every phone that I had... This is the first phone that im happy with stock rom, but I would like to change the kernel... My question is how quickly will the stock rom be posted up with every update... I know I'm not going to really want to wait...

I've had Android phones for a few years but never rooted until I got my Nexus 7. I've loaded roms but havent delved into it too hardcore. This is also my first Nexus handset device.
As far as rooting - the replies here have outlined the benefits. If you simply root and unlock bootloader, then you can still receive the OTA updates. however, if you load up a rom, you have to wait until the developer incorporates the updates - unless, the rom already has anticipated and tweaked those issues in a positive way.
If you need to ask why you should root then you probably shouldn't; it's not a question of Chrome vs Dolphin or Nova vs Stock Launcher..
Here's a nice little article: http://google.about.com/od/socialtoolsfromgoogle/a/root-android-decision.htm.
Read around as much as you can and don't use a toolkit. Go the route that is described in the link in my signature. Make it a learning experience!

google usually posts the full stock images within a couple weeks of OTA.
I rooted my first device (Galaxy S2) when I became tired of Touchwiz.
I rooted my Motorola RAZR HD because there was no possibility to silent the camera shutter sound without root (I renamed the system sound files).
Now I rooted my Nexus 5 because I'm using Greenify and AdAway which only works with root access. I'll also try different Recoveries, Kernels etc. to increase the performance/battery life in the future.
Titanium Backup. 'Nuff said.
This is the first phone I haven't rooted within minutes of owning, partly because I've been busy and party because I'm really quite happy with it. Unfortunately I need root for ad blocking so I think I'll be doing it today.

Adblocking through hosts files. Also you can use droidwall to select which apps get cellular data and which apps get wifi only and which apps get no internet access. Secure settings app will allow you to set conditions to set and remove your lock pin based upon conditions set by an app like tasker. I use this to enable lockscreen when not in range of my bluetooth headset or home wifi.

no reason at all!!! but it's fun to flash things.... and kernel upgrades if they are done well can make you feel a bit more elite with some nice things. depends on the device and there is a lot of gimmickry with roms and kernels out there. but this being a nexus there might not be as many issues with modifications since there aren't so many manufacturer proprietary binaries and unusual dependencies. but sometimes on the kernel end they can upgrade sound and video drivers, or adjust parameters that effect battery life and things. my old captivate would go as much as 4 days to a charge becasue the gingerbread and even froyo development comunity on the i9000 was so good. the infuse i replaced that with never got that level of kernel support.
if you don't have an expressed need to root, like maybe for unlocking a feature the carriers took out such as teathering, or removing factory spyware like carrier iq (not that they do that anymore to my knowledge) or certain applications then rooting isn't really needed.
I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules. I was just wondering what everyone else prefers on their Note 3... Stock ROM with Xposed, or a custom ROM?
I have been using Slimkat on my Note 3 since I bought it. This week I might try out the stock ROM with Xposed to compare.

yes also
Same here, mostly running alexandr's ROM with lean kernel. Works wonders. But I can't understand why people buy this phone and flash aosp roms that turn the spen into a simple stick.
one of android best features to me ... is having a custom rom
but lately they all feel like stock with exposed enabled .... im still searching for a good rom to use everyday
rooted X-Note 3 knox 0X0
Stock rom with xpose especially Wanamp:good:
Tested lots of ROMs, if not all, that are available for the Nope 3. AOSP, TW based...
Best look, performance & speed - AOSP cannot be beaten here. And even if some FCs happened until I setup an AOSP, after that there's no hiccups, even on nightlies. Fire up ART runtime, and the speed gets to disgusting levels, but it's like a car, the faster you go, the more likely the crash.
Pure stock TW is ugly as hell, but coming from Samsung themselves, it's stable and everything works. And there ARE people who use the S-Pen every day. o.o
Also, it's probably the fact that I can't properly set up the kernel on AOSP, because the ugly slow TW gets me more battery life than AOSP. And I go tinkering with the kernel, and USB stops working, FCs, and other s**t. :/ I need to learn more on the topic, probably...
Currently, using Audax ROM with stock kernel.
make my own custom since i don't really use some of the function avail on other custom.
i vote for custom rom
when i am in stock note 3 the ported s5 apps doesnt work thats why i chose s5 ported roms as the note 3 dont get s5 apps or even the s5 uI samsung fault they dont care about there fans new phone produce throw your phone away cause you well get worse update - as i know 4.3 was better than 4.4.2 / 1-call record working without root - 2- camera performance better - 3- white keyboard - 4-not draining battery fast and ... a lot of things i may forget it dont forget the last update which introduce knox 2.0 which make towel-root useless - so tell me reasons not be in custom rom or you just stock with useless phone / i just losing faith with samsung update cause i know every update are getting even worse
I like using stock-based custom ROM with Xposed.

Thank you for the subject.
Personally, I prefer Stock because it's official and custom rom does not give you a big advantage over the original with Xposed, except with the custom I can not activate screen mirroring.

Me too!
Hello.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 currently running the Vodafone official Lollipop ROM. I find it very sluggish and would like to speed it up.
Would I see any benefit in rooting my phone and going to CM13 or an alternative Marshmallow ROM ?
I have 2 apps that I use constantly - IBM Verse and VPNCilla, both of which I use for work. Would both of these apps work
on a custom ROM, as this would be a deal breaker if they did not.
If all of the answers to the above were yes, where would be the best place to download the necessary ROM etc, as it has been a while since I have done this.
Many thanks,
Simon

Yes marshmallow is more smooth relative to lollipop.
As for your apps it depends on the ROM, if the ROM you are using has a VPN bug it means you won't be able to use vpncilla properly ,just check known issues of the ROM before flashing to make sure
XDA is the good place to find development
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-0-t3238064 try any other if you don't like it ,lots of marshmallow based ROMs out there nowadays

Hey!
I recently got an S8 (exynos) with Oreo that i have now rooted using magisk and TWRP.
I'm looking at custom roms but its hard to find the right one.
By browsing through threads here at XDA i usually just see the problems people are having, rather than positive experiences. (Since you are more likely to write when you actually have a question or need help..)
If anyone is using any custom rom now on S8 based on Oreo, please share your positive experiences and let us hear the downsides as well!
I'm mostly looking for a way to completely rid my phone of all bloatware, trackers and so on. I basically just want an empty OS with the normal apps for calling (contact book for example), and google play so i can find new apps there if i want to.
Facebook, gmail, google, samsung apps i would prefer to never see in my phone.
If the rom can be installed using TWRP thats the best for me since that's all i know so far.
Thanks for any tips you might have!

Most of the Samsung apps have been taken out, and replaced with Google alternatives. What you're left with is a noticeably faster and smoother experience. My battery performance has improved also. Well worth checking out if you want a 'Barebones' 'Google like' offering.

Alright! Great stuff thanks for the tip!
I installed renovate ice on my s8 this weekend and so far its perfect for me. I was able to remove basically every single app from samsung and google, leaving me with what feels like a really clean phone.
So far i have not encountered any single issue or problem with the ROM. I will post here if i do or if i decide to try another one in the future.

If you mean renovate ice then yes. Im using it on my s8.
I've been using CarHDRom for many years.
Many possibilities to customize the Rom and 1A support!

I'm looking to replace my stock rom on exynos. One that could improve battery life.
Still few options (comparing to Snapdragon versions), sadly.
Hey man, how is your experience so far with renovate ice? Any noticeable issue with it? I'm considering using this rom but im seeking for advices first. Thanks

Hello Guys im gone here for a year and not customizing anything about my phone aside from being rooted. And because of being rooted we know I am not able to receive any software update so i got bored with it. so what are your recommendation with least or no bugs? should i go with updated stock or custom rom? my preference is good battery life and easy access. cheers!

Not many custom ROMs being updated now but Lightrom is debloated and very near stock. Forget about good battery life there's lots of things affecting it so there no perfect answer
I've been using the LineageOS 16.0 ROM for some time, it updates regularly. But being LineageOS it's not a ROM for you if you like the Samsung experience and apps.
