Nandroid Method
(Note:Working custom recovery is needed for this method)​
Download the Following Package:
MetroPCS Stock Nandroid Backup (Phone Right Out of Box)

1) Place nandroid backup files into a directory on sdcard:
/nandroid/mem=211M/stock/
2) Boot into recovery (Send Call + Volume Up - while phone turns on)
3) Go to Backup/Restore.
4) Select Nand restore
5) Select mem=211M
6) Select folder named "stock"
7) Proceed with on screen instructions

(Recommendation : When the OS of handsets could not start up successfully)​
Download the Following Package:

I am assuming those users like me that have already rooted and installed AmonRA could use your nandroid backup to recover to stock "out of the box"?
Can you give directions for doing that?

Do you have "bars"? If so dial *228 and speak "Update Roaming List" when the menu prompts you to. That will update the PRL file. You should NOT need to do this though unless you did other things to your phone.
My guess is that you flashed the cricket update? If that's the case let me know and I will guide you through the process of manually programming your phone to metro.

Better directions are on the way. I just have no time to post them today. I will update more directions tomorrow and gradually make the directions better.
General Idea though is copy raw nandroid files to sdcard to a folder within the folder "nandroid" boot into recovery and select the option to flash nandroid backup.

I need this too! This is my exact setup. I uninstalled google talk, couldn't use the market, found new apk files to install, got it working again, but still get fc's in the market now and then. So I'd like to start from out of the box knowing what I know now!

If you have a custom recovery installed already. My guess would be to do the following to resore.
1. Drop the files to your sd card in a folder structure somewhat matching nandroids structure. /nandroid/mem=211M/Stock/.
2. Boot into recovery (press and hold vol up and send then press power)
3. Go to Backup/Restore.
4. Select Nand restore
5. Select mem=211M
6. Select Stock(if thats what folder you named it).
7. Follow the instructions on the screen.
I haven't actually done the restore but, I did do the steps up to but not including the actual flashing. There was also a recovery image in the nandroid backup. I removed it on my card so I wouldn't overwrite my custom recovery. You can do whatever you want.

Pretty new to all this, so if I do a full nandroid backup of my current system, then try this, and sumthin doesn't work right, I can restore my current system back to the way it is before the attempt? Scared to be the first one to try this.
Also, do I need to copy every file in the archive? Or just the .img and md5?

I tried something similar but never could get it to restore the stock nandroid. I didn't try to rename it though...

Thats what is supposed to happen as long as the custom recoveries (ie Amon-Ra and/or Clockwork) were ported to our phones correctly. I would remove recovery.img so your custom recovery partition isn't overwritten.

I tried this for my phone more than once but how can it boot the info automatically when the computer canot detect the phone during fastboot?

You need the correct drivers for your operating system. Use google or the forum search feature.

Mobile network Unreachable.

Hi all,
I wanted too use CM9 port on my GT5801. I Wipe Data, i flash it.
After that my phone doesn't be able to connect on the mobile network.
I search in the efs file and i see it empty. I replace it by the backup i have made but nothing.
I tried too return too kyrillos 9.0 rom but it's the samething. I remade a restore of the efs and now the PIN code is ask a the boot. But the network is steel unreachable.
Any idea ?
PS: I have tried my sim card on an other phone and the mobile network is reachable.

Try flashing another rom like cm7 or stock

You need to flash a modem.bin file our something like that. Download the stock ROM for your region, europe, india etc. then delete everything in the ROM except the modem file using total commander which is a computer program. Then flash the .tar file in odin like normal. Download the stock firmware from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22532034. Also, you can just flash the ROM straight away but that would take you to the stock ROM. If you want to stay on CM9/Kyrillos ROM then flash the modem file only.

I have find the solution last nigth.
My idea : Android was used the file wen i tried too remplace them.
So I shutdown the phone, remove the sim card and power it on.
I remove all /efs file (Hiden included) and i restore my backup.
I put the sim card and reboot the phone.
AND it's work.

I'm using a TMOUS One S S4 vers and I've rooted and flashed the TWRP recovery. I want to use my stock ROM or one as close as possible to stock and unlock the APN settings so I can get wifi tethering to work. I'm currently on the UnKnown ROM, as it is pretty much stock, but the APN's are still locked. I tried the following tool from this link:

But it still didn't work for me. Is there another way to get the apns unlocked besides a custom ROM?

If you are using the mod I made would have to use the manual method of installing it into system.
The flash didn't work I am having trouble getting a flashable zip of it.
But if you use TWRP recovery file manager to copy it over with the instructions and then factory data reset (thats important so the system reads the settings again) and then setup the phone it does work on the 2.35 tmous stock rom.

Thanx for the reply. So I'm assuming you're talking about method #2 in that link. It would be great to use with the stock TMOUS ROM, but I'm having some issues implementing it.
1) Is there a tutorial on how to do the manual method? When I go into TWRP file manager, I see the "system" folder, but there is no "framework" folder there. Also, I'm vaguely familiar with chmod commands. I get lost at "chmod to 644." I know a few fastboot commands to get a recovery flashed from a directory but that's about it.
2) I have issues getting into recovery consistently. This may be a completely different issue but, the instructions I saw said to flash the ROM and then reboot recovery. Then flash the mod to fix the wifi. When I try to reboot recovery, my phone usually starts booting the ROM for the first time. I have to hold down the power button for 14 sec to shut it down and try to get to recovery again. It takes a few times for me to get there. I don't know if this causes problems with the fix being able to work because the ROM is starting to read on 1st boot?

Nevermind. I figured it out once I played around with TWRP. Very nice recovery and great mod. Everything is working correctly now on the stock ROM. Thanx again
FYI for others: Once you copy the "framework-res.apk" file to your storage card,
1) You have to go into TWRP, mount,
2) Mount the SD card and system by putting checks next to them
3) Goto home screen in TWRP and goto advanced
4) Select file system and navigate to SD Card and find the "framework-res.apk" file where you saved it
5) Select the file and then select "move"
6) Now navigate back by pressing the "up one level" at the top of each list until you get to root.
7) Now find the "system" folder and then the "framework" folder.
8) Select....... can't remember, but there's and option to move it there. It will confirm.
9) Select the file "framework-res.apk" in the directory you just pasted it to and select chmod
10) Type in 644 and select done.
11) Go back to the home screen and select "wipe" and "factory reset"
12) Now reboot system. Done.
APN's are no longer locked.

I'm was using the UnKnown ROM bit I've switched back to my stock ROM so no issues with data. and signal. The mod worked with the stock ROM so I suck with that.You can find it in the link above.

Can you please tell me what framework I am on? Is that the same thing as hboot. I am currently on 1.06 and I see 3.16 under hardware information. Is that compatible with your mod?

[STOCK][TWRP BACKUP][UPDATE] AT&T H910_10L Stock Recovery, Boot, and System Image

Below are links to full backups that can be restored in TWRP for the H910 after the Dirty Santa exploit. This is useful for restoring a bad install once you have access to TWRP. I will outline three methods for install below that will help in putting back the TWRP backups, a good method for installing it, and a few suggestions I have from restoring my device about 10 times now. So without further ado.
UPDATE: I bricked my device and had to send it off for repair (turns out I can't just flash US996 firmware for funsies) I received my phone back with the still rootable OTA 10L and yesterday I rooted it again and uploaded the new firmware. So if you're an AT&T user who wants the second latest update (10M dropped 04-15 but it isn't rootable as far as I know) then you can grab this and run it along with the stock kernel I made a backup of. I'll update the links below to reflect this. Stock 10L kernel located in tips section. Not flashable, you must extract and install as image and immediately install SuperSU 2.79 or greater or your device won't boot!
How to Install and Restore Stock Images and Boot (Kernel) Image
1.) DOWNLOAD - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298948069 (Updated to 10L) download the file and verify the MD5sum of the zip matches the file you downloaded. (System image link for devs posted at the bottom)
1a) Download the latest SuperSU 2.79 flashable zip from here: http://www.supersu.com/download
2.) EXTRACT --This is not a flashable zip-- extract the zip file wherever you would like so that it can be copied to the device
3.) COPY - The extracted folder to TWRP > BACKUPS > (paste here) on either the MicroSD card (preferable) or internal storage (This will be wiped when you format data)
4.) REBOOT TO RECOVERY - Once the folders are copied to the backup directory you can reboot to TWRP to begin the restore process.
5.) WIPE - This is getting two sections in order to account for two situations
5a) MICROSD - If you have a MicroSD card and copied the restore files to it wipe everything: Data, Cache, Dalvik/ART, Internal Storage, and System.
5b) INTERNAL STORAGE - If you don't have a MicroSD card installed only wipe the following: Data, Cache, Dalvik/ART, and System.
6.) REBOOT TO RECOVERY - Once you have wiped everything, especially if you wiped internal storage, you should reboot TWRP before you start the restore process
7.) RESTORE - Back in TWRP Choose Restore from the main menu and if you can't see your restore file choose "Select Storage" at the bottom and inside that folder uncheck RECOVERY unless you want to overwrite TWRP (which I recommend against).
7a) I would recommend checking the box "Enable MD5 Verification of Backup Files" which is a little slower but ensures a good restoration
8.) SWIPE - Swipe to begin the operation and it will alert you upon completion. You will need a very large amount of space on your card to do it since the system image is split into 3 packages
9.) ROOT - Do not reboot until you have rooted! The unlocked bootloader will prevent booting on the stock kernel. The stock kernel can be used if it is rooted first, otherwise you will be stuck on the LG Boot logo.
10.) REBOOT TO SYSTEM - The phone will reboot itself! Don't panic, this is part of the standard rooting procedure. Now, see tips at the bottom for best performance.
TIPS!
- This is the 10L update stock kernel made during dirty santa method. This kernel has all features working minus the static on boot being gone, but Wifi calling, comfort view, FM radio, etc are fixed using this kernel. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634762281 (You must flash SuperSU 2.79 or greater after flashing this kernel before you reboot! Not Flashable, must extract)
- To use the above kernel, download his ROM and extract the boot.img file from that archive. Save it to your device, boot to TWRP, choose Install, Install Image, and click the boot.img file. Then choose the checkbox for "boot" and swipe to flash. Really important to install SuperSU again after installing the custom kernel.
- Boot-up static can be cleared by allowing phone to boot to screen off, placing it face down to turn of second screen, and then flipping it back over. Static will be gone until next boot.
- Using fstrim after wiping in TWRP is good for increasing flash drive performance. Go to TWRP > Advanced > Terminal and type fstrim -v /data/
- You can do fstrim on /system and /cache as well to get all three partitions running clean
- Some of the AT&T apps that you can remove with TiBu are tied to bootup. Be careful what you remove if you like to get past the AT&T logo.
- The button combo to get into TWRP from powered off is Vol Down + Power until the LG Logo appears then let go of power and immediately press power again.
- That button combo boots you to a screen asking it you want to wipe your device. Answering 'yes' to both questions boots you to TWRP.

If you do a battery pull and can get to TWRP you are not bricked. However, I have no idea what you did to get a bootloop. What kernel did you install: the stock one from TWRP or Tilde88's kernel from his ROM? Either way, if you did this:
Wipe > Restore (Boot and System) > Install SuperSU 2.79 zip > Reboot
then you did the correct steps. The issue of not having SuperSU installed on my device was not booting past the LG logo and never rebooting. However, the method I most recently followed was:
Wipe > Restore (boot and system) > Install Tilde88 kernel > Flash SuperSU > Reboot
and my phone has been running extremely well. I need way more info from you before I can help you further.

Shoot...I think I followed your instructions in Tilde88's thread....and hit reboot instead of flashing his kernel. I then went back in to TWRP to reflash the entire thing...and the kernel...and I was given crap about encryption. Then, that's when the bootloop started. Right now, I'm sitting on TWRP. I've tried flashing everything, per instructions....but I guess, what I'm asking, is...since I'm on TWRP...and it's bootlooping because of encryption...what would you personally do? Shoot...I'll pay ya if you can fix this! LOL. I just really never dealt with the encryption thing until this phone...never really had problems till now.

I guess there's no need to REBOOT TO RECOVERY if a person faces encryption issues and is trying to fix their phone. Even after decrypting, I came up with issues. Now let's see if this this asks for my PIN on reboot. THAT was another issue!

So...by flashing your STOCK TWRP backup...per your instructions, I was TOTALLY FIXED...I then didn't even flash Tilde88's kernel...I immediately rebooted back to TWRP, and DID NOT WIPE...but immediately flashed his ROM....and BOOM! Google Now/Always On works flawlessly, zero lag! AWESOME!
So, to all that are having issues with no Google Now/Always On...follow this instructional on this thread and DO NOT wipe after flashing Tilde's rom.

Nothing like some good news to start the day. I wanted to let you know that the reason this worked is that it is essentially a dirty flash that replaces the stock kernel and adds his ROM tweaks into my stock system. So once it had booted and you flashed over it you were able to keep the stock files needed to get screen off Google Now working while adding his audio tweaks and build.prop because they overwrite the stock files. Since my stock files are odexed and his are not I'm not sure how well all your system files will function since they've been overwritten but if you have no issues then no harm, no foul.

Try booting into your bootloader (fastboot) and type:
fastboot erase misc
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase fota
fastboot reboot
See if that helps you at all. Make sure you have a valid ROM flashed correctly though.

im having trouble, i downloaded the file, and i put the extracted folder into TWRP>BACKUPS but when i go to restore on TWRP theres no files to be open, am i supposed to keep the file as a zip or?

I was having the same issue, do a backup(choose something small) from TWRP. It will create the TWRP>Backups Folder for you and then you can place the extracted zip. from this thread into that folder and it will see it.

i've tried what you suggested, and still nothing seems to show up, i made a back up in both internal and micro sd

So you created a backup of let's say the EFS partition in TWRP. You backed it up once to the internal SD card and once to the external sd card. Then you extracted the zip from step one, placed the folder inside of the backups folder and it does not appear?

how can i use this file if i i'm not rooted? My phone is being weird and i would like to reload the stock software on it.

Does the factory reset to stock also reset the recovery? Want to root phone but will most likely trade in to ATT once I'm eligible for upgrade(with trade in).

right now the root method for the h910 does not allow you to go back to stock

My 8gb sdcard ran out of space during step #8. Can I copy the contents of the sdcard to a bigger card and redo the full restoration from step 1?

Having the same issue. I copied the folder over to the microsd card and the folder I copied over isnt showing up in restore. I cant do anything or wipe anything if I cant see a backup right?
Im going to try and do the internal storage copy. No other choice.

If you create a backup of anything on the Microsd card before you attempt to put the folder in it, it will create the directories for you and all you have to do is copy and paste at that point.

[GUIDE] Enabling LTE on China Telecom (and others) on Pixel 3 XL (Android 10)

Being a huge fan of the Pixel series and living in China is not easy. Just upgraded my XL to 3 XL and naturally I had to enable the LTE to work in China. Regardless what you may see on the Chinese forums (gfan), all the files you need are already present on the phone.
Files you need:
1) The ADB bridge for Windows
2) The most recent factory image
3) Magisk Manager
4) Chinese-Carrier-Pixel-3-xl-LTE-VoLTE-Enabler (Magisk Manager module) - Github direct: https://github.com/wangdaning/Chinese-Carrier-Pixel-3-xl-LTE-VoLTE-Enabler (big thank you to wangdaning for allowing me to publish it.) Also attached as a zip file to this post.
If you don't understand what these files are for or where to find them, perhaps you should ask a friend to help you. Flashing anything wrong could result in an expensive brick. Always backup your data, never blindly trust a post, and do your research. This post is in good faith and I am not liable for your actions.
Now, I don't have any of the variants of 3 (Pixel 3, 3a, 3a XL) but I would assume it would work in a similar fashion; however, see above and do your research. Check file structures, read some posts, backup data, etc. If someone does try it, please report both success and failure to build the knowledge.
1) We need to ensure our phone has an unlocked bootloader. If your bootloader is locked, you WILL lose all your data. Ensure you backup everything you want to keep. There is no getting around this step. We need to be a developer first. Go to Setting->About Phone->Build number (tap it until it says you are a developer). Then go to System-> Developer options -> OEM unlocking: turn it on. Next we need to reboot to the bootloader by resetting the phone and hold the down volume key as it reboots. In the bootloader, first use the volume keys to find and select the unlock the bootloader command with the power key. Then, we need to send the following command:

You will receive a wipe and security warning. Accept and reboot the phone. It will wipe and reset your phone to factory.
2) I started from a stock image (May update; QQ2A.200501.001.B2). I suggest you start from there.
3) While we have the May update in front of us, we need to extract the boot.img so it can be patched to root the phone. TWRP doesn't support us at the time of writing on Android 10. (Hope that new baby is healthy!) The boot image can be found in the zip image-crosshatch-*release code*.zip/boot.img. Transfer this boot.img to the phone to be modded to enable root.
4) Next the phone needs to be rooted. You need to download the most recent version of Magisk Manager. Once installed, open up Magisk Manager. It will report no Magisk and that's ok, we are installing it now.
5) Tap install on Magisk and it will ask if you want to install, so install. Then you need to select the method. We will choose "Select and patch a file." Tell it where you saved your boot.img and it will patch it to allow us to root the phone. The output file we need is called magisk_patched.img is on the phone. Move it back to your directory with your ADB bridge.
6) Next we need to flash this patched boot file to our phone to complete the rooting process. Reboot to the bootloader and send the two commands:

Reboot the phone and congrats, you are rooted with an unlocked bootloader.
7) To prepare for the install of the mock files that will point to the files on the phone, we need to delete a few checking files. Using your file explorer of choice that can gain root access delete the following:
/data/vendor/modem_fdr/fdr_check
everything in /data/vendor/radio/ (make the target folder empty)
8) Download the LTE_enabler from Github or the zip file here. Open Magisk Manager and open the menu -> Modules -> "Yellow Plus" to add. Point it to the zip file.
9) Reboot and enjoy using your phone as intended.
I tried to be as detailed as I could but not be over verbose either. If any step is unclear, there are more detailed guides on this forum concerning bootloader unlocking and Magisk rooting on Android 10. As a bonus tip, does the "x" showing no data bother you and stop some services from working? If so, this can be fixed by re-pointing your captive portal to something inside the firewall. This can be accomplished with one line of code:

Could use more details, otherwise it is hard to help. It definitely is a module and installs fine. Something else is going on.

is this for china only? I have a Canadian 3 XL and moved to Bucharest, need to enable VOLTE on Orange Romania. I'm also on Android 11

It should work, but you would have to slightly modify the files. Instead of pointing to the Chinese carrier modem file you would want to point to the orange Romania file. I looked and there is an mbn file for orange Romania, it is just not included in the mbn_sw.txt. Then again, have you made sure Orange has activated VOLTE for your device?

I contacted Orange and they say VOLTE should be working, that the issue is my device not being compatible with their network. I also bought a Samsung watch 3 with LTE and can't activate LTE through my phone, i assume it's due to the same issue.
I'll follow your guide and report back.

If that does not work then you need to modify the module to include the romania mbn.

Dude i love you! worked perfectly. I followed the guide to root Pixel 3 on Android 11 and then your steps, didn't modify anything and now i have VOLTE enabled!

ok i spoke too fast, while VOLTE is enabled now in the settings, when i make a call, it switches to H+ which means its not using VOLTE. any idea? I modified the .txt file to include the location of the romania .mbn file, i modified the file directly on the phone though, after installing the module with magisk manager

Not sure, to many variables at play. I mean it could be that orange Romania only has VoLTE in certain areas/cases. Try using *#*#4636#*#* and phone information, see what it says.

I did that, both VOLTE and Wifi calling say provisioned. I guess it might be something on Orange's end.
I saw a reddit post for a Pixel 3 having the same issue and the carrier ended up doing something on their side.

Confirmed working on Pixel 3 w/ Android 11!

You would have to find the location of the files on the Pixel 4 as I am not sure where they are. Then modify the module to point to the correct location.
