What steps to specifically root Nokia 8 ? - General Questions and Answers

Hello all,
I will have soon the Nokia 8 which will be my very first Android phone. I don't know yet which version is on there but I will probably update to that latest available version. Afterwards I want to roo the device and I have no clue. I read thru the different threads and are more confused than at the beginning.
If there is somebody who could tell me How to 1. manually do it and then 2. which app to automatically do it. The second one I tried to research but could not find 1 that clearly stated "it will work with the Nokia 8".
I understand that the Nokia8 is not as popular as many other phones so I will always have to look to "specific" info just for that phone.
Thanks in advance for any help...

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Upgrade

Hello all, I have a Galaxy S that is unlocked, i have been trying to install Android 2.2 using the latest Kies software, but all i keep getting is the following.
Current Ver: 2.1 - Update, PDA:JF3 / Phone:JF3 / CSC:JE5 This version of the device cannot be updated.
My wife has the same phone on the Orange Network, this updated straight away with no problems, and works just fine.
I was wondering if it is the fact that if the phone is unlocked, and the update is not possible. We live in the UK. Any help would be greatfully received.
Thank You
I was hoping that this would be the Forum that would have least given a reply to my thread, but it seems not so. I notice that over 200 hundred people have looked at the question.
I live in hope than an answer will be forthcoming, even if somebody tells me to go away.
What kind of Galaxy S do you have?
You can do the registry hack for kies to change your product code and update to the generic rom, however I believe this hack has been patched for the most recent version of kies. I'll see if I can find a link to the hacking guide for you.

[Q] How can I get an official update from a device with a ROM demo?

Hello all.
I recently bought a Samsung Focus S (i937) on eBay, but the equipment was a mobile phone demonstration of a store, and as such came with a demo ROM (7.10.7739.25), now I want to install on it a normal rom official, can someone help?
My best bet is trying to find an official ROM for it up here, and then flash it.

There is no way to install ROM on this device.
In my opinion, the only way out of this demo version would be to find a CAB file leading to update.
Here is a thread where you can find official ROMs and flashing tools with complete discription.

SparkW (Verizon Trophy) users had this problem. For the longest time, the only leaked flashable roms turned our phones into demo models! It was terrible because the device would reset itself every day at midnight, and all your data/programming (this is a CDMA phone after all) would be gone!
We where finally granted a solution in that a full Mango rom leaked before Mango's release to Zune, so we could finally "un-demo" our phones. It wasn't for a few months after that that DFT added support for SparkW with their unlocked bootloaders.
If you cannot find a flashable rom, perhaps your phone has an unlocked bootloader available? With that, you could possessively flash a 3rd party rom. I don't know anything about Samsung phones, so I don't know how useful my input is. I do understand how manually pushing updates is a waste a time (it really is.. just a complete waste) as it won't remove the package creating the demo.
Looking at the Samsung Focus S forum.. how is this device not a legacy/low use device on xda? The Spark/Trophy forum is way more active then this?! ;

This thread has nothing to help me.
I'm there to ask questions and nobody can.
Sent from my SGH-i937 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
With the new updates for wp7.8 had news for the Focus S?
Once the zune doesn't update the device, it can be possible to obtain the update via the SevenEighter?
I've tried but without success.

[Q] How to flash from Asian firmware to US firmware

I just got the Motorola XOOM for Christmas 2012. I quickly found out it was out of warranty and not only that it has Asian firmware and the build # is 1.7.1-45. Being a gift I don't want to return it or let the person know that it is a non US XOOM.
I have spent the last 4 days researching how to upgrade to the US GED firmware with Jellybean 4.1. Never having rooted anything and now being throughly confused as to what steps to take I would like to ask for some straight forward direction in layman terms. I am pretty savvy at following directions but I have now confused myself with the research.
It came with 3.1 and upgraded to 4.0.4. My searches have led to MotoDev for the proper images to use but they don't seem to be there for this XOOM.
Lastly I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.8 with an 2 GHz Intel Core Duo processor. I can't use Eclipse in the ADT bundle with this Mac.
Please instruct.
Thanks,
Joel

Motorola, for reasons best known to themselves, have removed the stock images from their website.
There are, however, available to use elsewhere.

For installation instructions see post 3 of this link, I know it works as I have used myself

Will this give me the US firmware Build

Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. Will doing this leave me with the US build HW169 if that is the image I download? I reviewed Sleeplessninja's video for rooting with a Mac and it seems pretty straight forward. I basically want to end up with a Google Enabled Device with the most current OS and automatic updates.
Thanks again for your help.
Yep, HW169 is the one you want.
It will probably install as Honeycomb 3.0, but will update OTA until you end up with the current release.

[Completed] Root Coolpad 8297-T01

Hello everyone! I'm new to android, and I have bought a Coolpad 8297-T01 on a trip to China, which I wish to root in order to install Google Play. It runs on 4.4.4 android version and kernel version is 3.10.28.
I haven't found advice on rooting this particular model, but I've seen that some users here post from the same device. So, before going on rooting from the generic list here http://www.xda-developers.com/root/, I'd like to ask if somebody has rooted successfully this model and how (in order to avoid making any bad mistake)
Thank you!
Anna
Hello.
Yes, your device can be rooted. One of the methods in the thread link you provided should work. Framaroot gets success for a lot of devices, and is probably why it is listed first. If it fails, just move on to the next option until you get root. The methods listed there won't break your device.
Good luck!

Startrail 8

Hey guys,
I just bought a Startrail 8 by LAIQ, after someone stole my cellphone, but i'm not that happy with it's firmware.
It has a Quad Core 1,25GHz processor, runs Android 6.0 and has 1 GB of RAM
1- So can someone tell me if there's a custom rom which is or should be compatible? and where can i find a good guide for doing it? Or is it simply impossible? cause i'm having a hard time finding anything online about it.
2- On another topic, the last time i rooted a devide (Oneplus1) i used Odin, but i was googling about my new cellphone, and found a guide where it explained how to "Flash" the latest official firmware (which i'm running on) and it also said i could install a Custom Rom without rooting my device (with Odin)? Is this possible and will i keep my warranty? And what exactly is the difference between flashing and rooting?
cheers and thanks in advance!
