No, the UK Mix 3 has the Global ROM on it, there isn't a "UK ROM" there's Global & Chinese.
Use Google next time, this is a unnecessary thread.

There's also the Xiaomi.eu ROM. I use the EU weekly ROM on my Mix 3 in the UK with no problem.
I'm pretty satisfied with EU rom but I only miss "Ok Google" function.
Thank you for your answers gentlemen.

That's just a modified version of the Chinese rom. There are only two official roms (excluding developer roms).

How's the battery life on Pixel Experience? I had it on my old Mi Max and battery really took a hit. That was fine with 4850 mAh, but with this much smaller battery, I don't know if I can afford to take the hit.
Also I've not seen any ads in .eu as of yet.

MIUI has ads built-in to its notifications and other areas too, it's part of the way they subsidize selling their phones at a loss (they also rely on people using their stock apps for data too). They make a big effort to block these ad in Xiaomi.eu though from what I've read.
I used to get ads for movie trailers in my notifications even when using Pixel Experience, I think Google is just as guilty as anyone else for this.

Google doesn't put ads in notifications. If you're getting them, they're coming from somewhere else, probably a third party messaging app or from the notification itself.

Yes, there's nothing there that proves that's anything to do with Google. Likely another app with too many permissions granted which allows it to intercept notifications and include the ad.

Well I don't know what to tell you. That was my experience. Google does push notifications of news, weather, traffic and other interests from the Google Feed, I'm not sure why we're debating if this was possible when the feed was also testing ads in the form of movie trailers. I saw it multiple times, I even held the notification down at one point to consider muting all notifications from the specific app was clearly Google.
Anyway, I haven't seen any ads like this in Xiaomi.eu.

So I finally got my AL00 Chinese version of mate 9 rebranded to L29C636 with the method posted by gm007 (thanks a lot gm007) over the weekend. Everything went as expected, and I got the latest B158 firmware installed. But I have noticed the battery life had been considerable worse than when I was on the AL00 latest firmware, especially during standby. Earlier after I get up in the morning with the phone fully charged, with light news reading and email checking, it would stay at 100% for lot longer than now days. I have installed the same apps I had before and can't really say I use my phone any differently today than last week... if I had to estimate, I would say it's around 30% to 50% worse than before, though I can not quantify in detail...
Has anyone else notice this ? Is it because there are lot more background processes running from the better Google integration in L29? Btw, I have Google service installed on the AL00 firmware also...
I came from c432 to c636
I've had very enormous battery drain on c432b126 (and on b138). I did factory resets many times, but no success. I tried to
After rebrand I have only good results, so I can't blame c636.
If I remember correctly the power management on the AL00 is alot stricter than the international version. If you go to lock screen clean up and make all but essential apps close you will get a much longer battery time. At least that's what I do.
Sent from my MHA-L09 using Tapatalk
Oh, right, there is 1 thing I forgot to mention in my previous threads. The notification problem existing on the AL00 is no longer there on C636. I now has proper notification from WhatsApp, Skype, etc. I guess that could be the reason for the faster battery drain, I guess I shouldn't complain since it's working properly now vs. not earlier
i noticed the same. I came from al00 to 636 too and i have a considerable battery drain in comparation.
But i have been changing the app killer settings , closing all the apps that i dont need when lock the screem and well it is improving the battery life.
Well... I just can get around 5 and a half hours of screen on time..
yep, chinese version have very aggressive memory management, no fb notification, linkedin, gmail, email, or whatsoever, if you don't use your phone for 2 hours, it tun off any notifications. that's the way to increase the battery life. and it is killing me atm. i think it still a good trade off to sacrifice some battery life in exchange of on time notification and nova launcher.

Thanks for informing us about it. Can you post the link of gm007 explaining the upgrade? Also, for a non-techy, how easy was it to convert to international brand and how long did the process take? Did it get rid of the Chinese related apps? For example, not sure if you tried this but if you could and tell us what you found...
If you go to camera, then slide the left side for options you see at the bottom of the list, object recognition. I used it on AL00 and it takes me to Chinese website (baidu). With your upgrade does it go to Chrome or something?!
Also, after using it for days, how is the battery life? I assume also the notifications issue is resolved with this international firmware upgrade so you receive your notifications normally without the need for apps to be open.

I have both AL29 and AL00 phones. AL00 does have way better battery life, it allows to restrict the app auto launch but AL29 doesn't have this feature.
Basically, AL00 has way more strict background control to maintain good battery life.
The only drawback of AL00 is the google play store sometimes has app download problem. But in general, I like AL00 way more than AL29

I'm beyond confused on what to do right now. The tablet is having problems left and right and Im just so confused, and no answers from Google are helping me.
Basically, I have three problems. First, the tablet cannot boot past the Nvidia logo. Second, the battery charges EXTREMELY SLOWLY. It took ten hours to get to 35%, and I fell asleep waiting for it to get one percent. And third, it discharges rapidly while on with the charger.
To note what I did, I installed TWRP, did numerous factory resets, and installed LineageOS. However, it just won't boot. Sp I am now here. Please help, I have no more options.

It's best to not update the OS ever. As long as it works. Also, Google auto update should be deactivated. In general, updates are bad. They take storage and eat performance in 80% of the case.

Regardless, this means nothig for the battery. I've also never seen updates ruin a device. For example, updates actually saved my phone out of brick. If not for Cyanogen, this phone would've stayed bricked.
OEM updates usual ruin the performance. That's my experience.
I've tried numerous 7.1.2 custom Nougat roms and have recently gone back to stock 5.2 and have to say that the device works a lot better.

After the 5.2 update, my K1 is running a bit smoother/faster than before. Particularly screen rotation, opening keyboard, opening apps & going back to home screen.
Battery life is as it was before the update.
One of the previous updates (5.1?) similarly improved performance a bit.

Experiences will vary. But that goes with just about any software change, be it an OEM update, custom ROM, kernel, etc. For every person that says the performance, battery, etc. is better; there will be another that says it's worse.
There are lots of variables in how you use the device, what apps, etc.

Battery life isn't an issue
3 things which annoy me about MIUI (which Xiaomi did on purpose) ...
1. Divergence from stock Android behaviour for Notifications. i.e No Status Bar Notification Icons or Expandable Notifications on the Lock Screen. Notifications disappear from the lock screen when you unlock the phone.
2. Smart Unlock only works with Xiaomi products. Google Voice and 3rd party devices can't automatically unlock the phone. Location based unlock doesn't seem to work either.
3. Volume controls for Notifications and Ringtone are combined into a single setting.
Thanks guys, I'm on EMUI now so MIUI isn't an issue

Edit: Resolved - For over 10 years, I have been using the BACK button to close activities. All of them. When I want to return to the launcher, I just press BACK from withing the given app until I get 'back' to the launcher. Why wouldn't I do this? It's how you close an app. Well, I hit the HOME button instead of using BACK to exit the app gracefully like I do for all other apps I run.. and.. AOE works. I don't get it. I'm not much of an Android developer, and I hate everything Google has done to Android in the last 5 years, but what gives here? I assume (and I can see) that the backgroud service still runs after the activity closes, so why would I want to leave the activity open and return to the launcher without gracefully closing the current activity? Anyway.. if I leave the activity open, it seems to work as expected, but not if I close the activity. Go figure.

I am using Resurrection Remix 8.6.7 on OnePlus 7 Pro. I've tried Plus Beat, True Edge, and now Always On Edge. I can't get any of them to work. Plus Beat came the closest by repeatedly flashing the lock screen, but I really want to use AOE and I would like to see the edge 'horizon' lights. I've given AOE every permission and accessibility service I know how to, and it still does not work.
Is it possible to use AOE on One Plus 7 Pro with Resurrection Remix 8.6.7 (Android Q10 based, and goes on top of OOS 10.3.8)?

Pixel pulse was my go to alternative for AOD notifications but since it doesn't support 10 yet I just have to deal with missed notifications. First one plus device and probably my last.
