So simple if you have magisk, I would never of thought that Oreo 8.0 aptx library install would even work considering that the 8.1/9.0 magisk aptx module as a completely different install, but yeah, the Android 0 aptx magisk modules works. I didn't even realize I turned off my headphone processor till I checked, better inmho. If you use it you can't complain to anyone if doesn't work for you,as pie is unsupported. Just thought I'd share. The module is towards the end of magisk download list, the actual module that's been made for pie doesn't work as it stops loudspeaker playback, the 8.0 module just works, ldac, aptxhd and aptx.
So, if you install Magisk on Andoid 9 Pie you will get ALL the Bluetooth codecs to work or what ??
or which custom ROM does fully support Wideband codecs under Skype Audio calls ?
I would like my BT Stereo Headphone with APT-X to work with Skype with Wideband codec and also use my BT Headset for
Audio recordings with at least 44 or 48 Khz sampling frequency and not just the 8 Khz Mono SBC Codec that is really crappy....
Many thanks.
Regards. Stefan.
Root your android 9 stock ROM, install magisk, and use the aptx module, if your headphones use aptx then it will work .better still , use this with thanks to the ppl who made previous mods.

Will this then also work for instance with Skype to have a Wideband audio codec when using skype audio calls ?
What is the best and easiest method to root the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite ?
Any tutorial... Sorry have not looked around here for this. Many thanks for your help.
Regards, Stefan.
I'd imagine it would, it's using aptx then it should still use aptx noattwr what app your using, still trying to figure out how to enable AAC also because that codec is missing aswell
There's plenty of tutorials, look for the one that says something about still use otas. Is the a2dp hardware offload toggle greyed out for everyone in developer settings?, or is just for ppl who have unlocked bootloader?, ive just noticed it and thinking thats why AAC codec isnt working.

I think I read that the sound mods like Viper's don't work on the MTCD-units, but I can't find it now. Due to the sound chip iirc. Any news on this? Does it work on MTCB units?

Viper4android works on MTCD, I assume it also works on MTCB. Perhaps what you heard references the MTC Radio. V4A does not effect/work on the radio but it works fine for me on spotify.

I've both side loaded the APK after downloading it from the fourms here and I've also installed the unsupported one from google play store. I just use the play store one now as it's easier then side loading. Both ways work fine tho
thanks! will install later today.
Played around with this yesterday and can confirm that the unofficial play version works great with everything except the FM radio. I want to check out Dolby Atmos as well, but can only find it as a flashable zip and I guess you can't flash zips from the recovery on these units. Only update images.

FM radio isn't a digital component I bet. FX works by processing a digital sound stream the FM radio basically is just a fm tuner with digital controls that plugs straight into the amp more/less. Output from digital sources is simply muted or fed in alongside the FM signal so FX could never touch it.
is there a Viper4android for dummies guide?
I use V4A ... just need to find the proper IRS files for a Logic 7 Harmon Kardon system

I installed Viper4Android on a Malaysk modded unit and I bricked the sound and buttons. Had to reflash to get it back. Everything was going fine until it asked me to install the driver.
I'm assuming you're talking about Viper FX is that correct?
Viper4Adroid works fine for me... just make sure you have busybox installed, and you may need to have Viper4Android in the system/priv-app folder so it's not killed by the system. Also, make sure MusicFX is disabled.

Yeah I've done the same, what version are you on V4 or v5?
v4 had an issue where sometimes the hard buttons would stop working. you would need to do a delvik cache wipe to fix it. So it may have just been that. No one figured what was setting it off as far as im aware.
question for all yall using V4a , does it show as "speaker"?
If so, anyway we can get subwoofer controls available under other modes like bluetooth or headset?

I'm using Waves Headphones.irs and you can get the irs files from here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vbpewfdz6o6essc/AAAqEPilx1ZzT5R9cBmQs5v9a?dl=0. I use only IRS and some clarity with XiFi mode and 3.5DB. Also try to lock it from V4A menu, to Bluetooth or USB DOCK and switch to Advanced. Once you'll do that, you will unleash the true power of Viper4Android. You will not be dissapointed

I have all the low/mid settings on HU Amp put to 0. I only have IRS and Clarity set on XiFi on 3.5 (nothing else enabled) and those two brings everything I need. If you use Poweramp, you need to disable EQU and Tone too, so you have a clear Viper4Android effect. It doesn't blow the speakers like you think

Basically after nougat update Poweramp music player's 24bit playback mode fails to activate (even with latest 704 alpha installed). So those audiophile among us might be super annoyed .
Solution, add this line to build.prop , this has enabled 16bit 192khz playback on aicp7.1.2
ro.lenovo.hifi_support=true
Text would be better so anyone can copy-paste the settings!
Worked for LOS14.1
Small update , it seems that someone on the Poweramp forums has managed to enable 24/192 playback by tricking the phone into thinking it has Samsung software .
Anyone have any idea what he added to the build.prop?

If you want the best audio you can get out of your phone, install viper4arise. (and use esira/eleven)
Edit: Viper does not activate 192khz playback, because its useless (for a smartphone with only 1 aux output) read why here.

Hires audio is a complicated subject. I think it works for me because of the placebo effect ? Lmao
However, I'm also just a hobbyist looking to tinker around.
If I can recall correctly , most forms of audio mods on Android increases the noise floor by a significant amount, making everything sound quite messy (but I haven't tested arise yet) .
Just looking to share info around and spread the fun of tinkering

I had this problem with arise too, but you can reduce the "output gain" to reduce the quality loss while amplifying the signal (just remember to set it back if you need a louder signal, e.g. for small speakers). Like that i was able to completely anulate the small glitches and rushing/shizzling (or at least i dont hear it anymore xD).
I've tried dozens of sound mods (even changed roms for it) and the best (and most stable) solution for me is viper.
You however have to try around and install the arise modules one-by-one and then setting everything suitable for your needs (Profiles, add-ons like atmos).
But its worth it, even my 24bit 192Khz computer sound sounds bad now! :crying:

This trick just send 192khz audio PCM data to Android audio resampler, after that audio data will be resampled to 48khz/16bit for output.

However, in my hi-res output option, DVC is always enabled.
As it's conflicting with Dolby, how to forcefully disable it?

Get a music player of your choice that has access to an EQ and you should see snapdragon audio EQ. Some 3rd party music players may have a setting in them, named such as "use system EQ" that is the one you need.
I just tested it as a normal install. It works, but not 100%. Audio quality is noticeably different than the generic EQ. But when you try to adjust bass boost or surround sound, it tells you to plug headphones in. I'm guessing it needs to be updated to be fully functional.

I'm pretty sure that everyone is totally missing the boat on this Snapdragon Audio+.
The key feature of Snapdragon Audio is a pseudo-high-quality DAC to improve audio quality. Essential phones do not use this hardware. Our phones have no analog audio output. Even the bundled 3.5mm adapter includes its own DAC.
Thus, Snapdragon Audio+ acts only as an EQ with some DSP effects. You can get the same result with a myriad of apps on the Play Store.

Could be some restriction they ran into when switching from pass-through HALs to binderized HALs. The apk from beta 3 depends on external libraries from API 23 whereas the newer apk from 8.1 depends on libraries from API 27 exclusively, so they seem to be in the process of moving forward, and hopefully we'll see it in their future builds.
I don't have the time or resources to make this work, so I am abandoning this. I'll post the 8.1 apk and libraries from both 8.0 and 8.1 if anyone wants to work on it in the meanwhile.

I haven't used the stock EQ on the Essential for quite some time, but it should already be there. When you launch an EQ menu from another app (such as Google Play Music, YouTube Music, etc.), it should launch the built-in EQ app in Android. Essential has used Snapdragon Audio+ since the beginning. However, when Android 8 released during the betas, Snapdragon Audio+ wasn't there. That's why this was created and it never worked anyway. Essential eventually put Snapdragon Audio+ back into Android 8 and it's been there with Android 9 too. It should be there in Android 10 as well, but I've been using Viper4Android instead. Previously, I was using JamesDSP, but it doesn't work with Android 10. And frankly, Snapdragon Audio+ doesn't sound all that great compared to either Viper4Android or JamesDSP anyway.
In my opinion, the audio via the 3.5mm jack in this device is terrible.
I've seen Dolby working in a lot of other devices without root/flashing. Is the same possible for this device?
Thanks in advance
P.S I've already tried all modded Dolby apks, be it for Razr phone/moto g8. None of them have worked so far (the app keeps crashing when launched). I've tried it with the native "Audio Effects" app enabled and disabled. No luck. Any idea why? ?

Hi!
Today I have been tested two version of external type-c USB DACs: first noname from Ali with dac chip, and second one of popular MIEZU DAC.
Sound is very quiet, terrible quality on both DACs.
I test it on PC (LENOVO LEGION), on Samsung M52, HONOR V20 - both DACs work fine.
Miezu has super clear sound and easy work with 250 Ohm headphones.
But with 12x... Sound super terrible...
Maybe some one knows what about it?

Yes, I tried all possible settings, what I found in menu (developers menu too).
Only one things little help me increase sound level - custom sound level (where you can chose your age, you can add a custom parameters).
If you are using an external dac leave all the parameters disabled. Then use the dac to apply any eq settings.
Check that both the phone and the player have all eq flat, no sound effects activated.
I'm using the xiaomi with a qudelix 5k and works flawlessly.

Just raise the gain, not the frequency sliders.
What player are you using? Try poweramp or usb audio player pro. If you are using a stream platform check that audio normalization is disabled. Plus the quality is set to very high.
Xiaomi SM???? devices have large jitter caused by mi_thermald and enforced DRC (Dynamic Range Control or compression). If your device is rooted, try my magisk tools (audio-misc-settings and USB_SampleRate_Changer (including jitter-reducer.sh)) to reduce the jitter, to disable DRC, and also to make no resampling distortion.

But, I just try PowerAmp - WOW! Now the DAC work fine, like on my another devices. I don't understand what poweramp do, why another players cannot work fine, Xiaomi system player to.
Do you know any free players like PowerAmp? (GooglePlay doesn't work correctly in my country).
One good news - phone can work fine with external DAC, but second bad news - have to use special APP (like PowerAmp) and I can't use any streaming player, such spotify.

Need to use Direct USB access in APP settings.
You can try neutron too, very good app one of the best imho. A bit more difficult to use, but offers a ton of customization options.
Those don't play audio if you plug a external dac, they simply send the signal so the external dac processes it. Maybe your apps play that songs and the dac simply amplifies it, rather than decoding it and amplifying it.
