I have successfully installed Stock Pie EMUI 9.x on my 10.8 Inch MediaPad M5 only WIFI and here is my opinion About it:
The Version that im going to talk About is xxxxxxxxxx123-SP1 BTW this is the European Version (not the Chinese Version)
Note: this is NOT the latest Version of EMUI 9 on M5 , it is PRE-ALPHA
Here is what i noticed:
it is better optimized than the EMUI 8.x but the recent apps window is Buggy, it really Needs more work on it.
The System feels bubbly and colorful than EMUI 8, especially the new White themed Notifications panal.
The apps Icons on the Home screen are slightly bigger than emui 8
Opening and Closing the apps has a new animation
There is a new Look screen animations and Layouts and the quick panal is redesigned.
There is a new 2 system-apps which you can not uninstall from your devices: Google duo and Huawei Wallet
There is also ton of the new Settings Options with much of new Features (in this 123 Version you will not find the full screen gestures, but Huawei Team is going to add it in the 130 update)
I also like how fast and better the gaming experience is now becoming (thats because of the GPU TURBO 2.0)
Desktop Mode has a new feature called the full screen apps
Moving and resizing the tabs in Desktop mode are now MUCH better than the previous Version of EMUI
eRecovery has updated with a new White Theme

Notes:
1) Bootloader will stay unlocked even after the EMUI 9.x update.
2) Your Device is going to be completely dead after attempting to Downgrade to the EMUI 8.x using the eRecovery, thats why i sent it to the Huawei repair Center (by saying "completely dead" i meant no eRecovery, no fastboot, no System, even Holding the power button will not do anything).
Do NOT install EMUI 9.x on your Tablet just for now, it is not funny to turn a 500$ device into a stock of Metall. you are completely responsible if you destroyed your device
How to install EMUI 9.x on your MediaPad M5:
1) Download your Firmware from Huawei Firmware finder.

3) Follow the provided steps in the .bat tool.

I didn't think a Rom could lock or unlock a bootloader.

I had this two Times on my old mate 8 and mediapad m3 after upgrating that the device was relocked.

The xloader is not going to be touched after this update, which means that your Bootloader will stay unlocked even after the upgrade

There was an update for the Nubia M2 that was released on 10 July 2017 and the Factory Stock Firmware package is named "NX551J_Z69_EN_TSXPR17D11L110".
With that stated...
Go to the following link:
http://www.nubia.com/in/support.php?a=download
Then scroll down and select "ROMs" that's to the right of the words "Documents".
Within the list below, select the following:
"NX551J_Z69_EN_TSXPR17D11L110 - 1.79G - 2017/07/10 - M2"
Read the popup information first. It reflects all kinds of information that you should know about that Firmware.
At the bottom of the popup, select the "Download" option and the Firmware will download.
I do not have this device and, though this is the latest firmware for the M2, I'm not completely sure if this firmware update is for the Android 7.0 Nougat but, a few other sites do reflect that this device did just recently receive a Nougat update.
As i had stated, i don't have this device, I can't really support you after you download it but, they do have support options if you require further assistance.

Nope, we're stuck at 6.0.1.
The only flashable rom I was able to read about is LineageOS 15, but I'm not sure those were not just spam.

so true! i use a lenovo p2 andthis M2 is VERY SIMILAR..... same amoled 5.5 , same sd625 but battery not 5100 but 3600mah and price is REALLY LOW NOW with special discounts for the last stocks.....
i really would see a custom rom maybe resurrection remix for it

Like many others I've bought a rather cheap M2 from Geekbuying a while ago and been wondering about (OTA) update, like Nougat. Apparently the Chinese ROM is out now http://ui.nubia.cn/rom/detail/36
but there is no way of downloading it seems, or at least difficult. Not sure if it would even work putting that ROM on the seemingly global version (India?) Does anyone have an idea and would English even be correctly supported? Would that ROM even be functioning on the global version?
I've found a ported rom for nubia m2.. It's optimized for my region because are ported from gizchina.it dev.. So I can't say if are available also other lenguages

I wonder the same. Both are listed at the NX551J, but I don't know if the hardware is substantially different. May be able to flash it if you keep your radio files. Anyone tried it yet on the global model?

I also tried to root it to install TRWP to install gapps but ... no way ! bootloader locked.

Anyone working on official custom builds of LOS or RROS for honor 8(frd)? emui sucks.
They have unofficial ones (though the battery life sucks on both). I would recommend AOSPA (paranoid android) which I am currently using.
Wait until EMUI 8.0 With Oreo and Treble drops, then use a Treble compatible ROM, if you look at the Honor 8 Pro forums, they already use a Treble ROM which is near perfect. Should be the same for us then just a little more patience.

I don't have doubts, Honor France and Honor Poland both said that the Honor 8 will get EMUI 8.0, they also mentioned that "One does not go with the other" in other meaning "EMUI 8.0 doesn't work without Oreo" which means that EMUI 8.0 will also include Oreo. If it was only a feature update/ported features, they would have called it EMUI 5.2 like they did before with EMUI 5.0.1.
Also all Huawei/Honor phone get Treble alongside Oreo since they already use their own vendor partition which means they don't have to reformat the device (which COULD result into a brick, thats why OnePlus and Nokia won't include Treble on the Oreo updates).

I recently had my phone replaced but this time it refused to download the android 8.0 update both in OTA and hisuite, even after i downloaded and flashed B521 it refused to update to B562.
By refused i mean telling me it's already up to date, both OTA and hisuite.

There is no need getting 8.1 because there is already pie from Open Kirin. I am pretty sure we will get working Android Q this year too and because of treble, we will probably get Android 11 too.

BRo there is also a pie rom for emui 8. But battery is not so great as stock rom.

yes with android 10 and 10 is faster than 9.1 but 9.1 have better battery life
last time I updated my phone to android 10 (.161), eveything is a messed, it lags and overheats and the camera quality is not good as when it was on android 9.1. By the way, I rolled back my phone to android 8.1 because I feel like the camera on this version is the best for me. I'll just wait for the finale update of Android 10 and hope there will be a big improvement especially with the camera. (Huawei P20 EML-L29)
