Yes, but some 3rd party cables may block it sliding.

thx Mackay53 for your fast answer. So there is no problem with the original cable

Yeah, works fine

The original cable is flexible and can easily be moved out of the way. As Mackay said, no issue. To be clear, I couldn't get my device to work with a Google pixel adapter cable, the Xiaomi provided one works.

yes, especially with MIUI, they have pre-configured EQ settings for the wired headsets.
but not with BT. i just hope MIUI is open to do this in the near future, to have EQ settings for BT.
without installing 3rd party apps

+1. I've tried everything I can think of to get those things to light up.
What happened to the post from the outraged sound engineer?? Did someone delete it?

Can't slide it with my Baseus adapter or Ugreen cable, but the oem cable works fine.

[Q] Headphone Jack Is Broken. Worth Losing Root To Send In On Insurance?

I use the headphone jack a lot in my car as I have a 30 minute commute one way to work. I also have a lot of apps that require root (some of which were purchased) and would not like to lose root if possible. Has anyone else received a replacement that was still able to be rooted? I'm on the fence about just riding it out until my contract is up. I have tried 3 different aux cables and 2 sets of headphones in both my phone and my gf's phone but with no luck so I'm pretty sure it's the 3.5 mm jack.

Essential Earphones and more accessories available!

Essential has updated their page with more accessories, including essential earphones HD and Mini.
I'm more interested in the charging dock. BT audio sounds quite good with my JaybirdJaybird X3.

They took it down after few hours. Could be that Essential was testing how these accessories would look like on the page or was too early.

Agree on both;
1) More interested in Essential Charging Dock.
2) BT audio sound good on Jaybird x3 (especially after bumping up the bass a little).
When I read "mini" I got excited ... thinking Essential Phone Mini (smaller, more pocket/single-hand version of PH-1).

If the camera dock pins simply access power, seems EZ to print foil wireless charging antenna on thin magnetic back & slap, connecting w/ diode to camera power pins. Building all into a case may be even EZrrr...
Had wireless charging on an LG Watch--fast & reliable--definitely is the future!
Some accessories became available: https://www.essential.com/accessories
good. I accidentally ran over my 3.5mm adapter, it's not working anymore.
I would like till try the charging dock and the wired mini head phones. The Mpow Bluetooth headphones I have some time vet in the way.

Split cable for OTG and charging phone? (+audio would be nice)

I would like to be able to connect a pendrive to the phone and charge it at the same time. Audio out simultaneously would be even nicer. But I can't seem to find anything but split cables that provide power to the peripheral you connect, not the phone.

Great, thanks! From the description it seems it might work, although it does not specify that the power is delivered to the usb-c device instead of the peripheral.

Yes, ebay and aliexpress are ful of them. Searching for usb-c audiocharging yields a lot of results. All of them should work wih the Mi Mix 2, as the Mi Mix 2 outputs analogue audio on the usb c port. But mic suport might vary, so you should read the description carefully if you need that.

I'm wrong ? The usb part is twice as long and thick for one? But I'm not going to say I'm 100% certain, I just simply read what someone adviced on here a year or two ago and they knew more than I do ????
Here's a picture to show you the size difference:

All USB-C dongles have DACs
All of them.
USB-C outputs data, not audio. The dongle (be it Google's, HTC's, Apple's or Sony's) is what converts to an audio signal.

external microphone on a smartphone possible if internal was removed?

i have removed the microphone from my smartphone for security reasons so that i am not constantly monitored by any apps.
now the question is it possible via the usb c or in the headphone jack to connect an external microphone?
if so what kind, gladly also a recommendation with link (if permitted).
thank you very much!
I'm pretty sure you can use a 3-ring ear phones or headphone and it should work!
oh and using a dongle or just using a usb-c audio device works too.
