OP6 Losing WiFi Connection When Screen off? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I've been experiencing an issue with my OP6 since I've gotten it. And that is, whenever my screen is off, for some reason my WiFi connection disconnects or sleeps until I wake my phone up. This has been noticeable because I'd get my app push notifications an hour late or so. It's especially noticeable when I'm using an app like discord, and in a call with a friend and when my screen is off, I'd randomly disconnect constantly, I'd need my screen to be on and not off to prevent this.
I'm currently on Pie, I believe 9.0.2/9.0.3. I'm using OxygenOS, although I'm using the elementalX kernel.
I've done some searching, and saw that there is no such option on Pie to keep Wi-Fi going while on standby.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! This has been an issue that I've been annoyed with since I've gotten my OP6.
Thanks in advanced!

Random Reboots.. any new info?

Hi everyone.. I searched a bit but couldn't come up with any more answers so I'm wondering if I missed something.
I've had my TF since like May, and for as long as I've had it, I've had this issue.
No matter what kernel or Rom or anything, my TF always randomly reboots ONLY when my screen is shut off and the wireless is left on. It doesn't reboot if I'm using it, and the only way to make it not happen is to turn on airplane mode when I'm done with it.
Its not a big deal, but it is annoying, especially if I leave it in the living room and forget airplane mode. Then whoever is in there gets to watch my TV constantly and randomly reboot every few minutes.
Its just more annoying than anything. Id love to just keep wifi active so it automatically connects when I turn the screen on.
Other than this, my TF has been flawless for like 6 months
Thanks if anyone has any information!
I've suffered through the same issue with my 16gb TF. By any chance do you have your pattern lockscreen turned on? Can't quite remember where, but I read that having it stops the reboots.
I tried it on mine and haven't had one since...but it's only been a day or 2. Can anyone confirm if the lockscreen stops or limits the issue?

Wow, ill have to give this a try. I've never used the pattern lockscreen.
random reboots
I get this after about an hour of use. If I sitch it off via the button then when I press it again it reboots. If I just let th TF switch itself off (after 5 mins) it switches on normally when I press the start button.
I also had similar problems with my wife's TF, it rebooted randomly just about anytime (not just with screen off), apps crashing randomly. When I returned it to the store where I bought it, they immediately replaced it with a new one that doesn't suffer any of those problems.
If you have such problems, I'd recommend taking it back to the store for repair, because that is definitely not the expected behavior.
unfortunately the lock screen thing didn't work
Can't really take the thing back, I've had it for months.... fortunately this is the only issue I have... I can live with it. Its purely an annoyance that doesn't affect me when using it...

screen lights up randomly

Hi all. Since updating to 2.3.5 my screen randomly lights up. The phone will be just sitting on the table, next to bed etc and the screen will light up for a few seconds and the turn off.
Not been on a stock ROM in a while, but I do remember hearing about this problem when the update rolled out. Just can’t remember if the problem was solved. Had a quick search and no joy. I'll keep looking. I have a theory though...
I had this problem once, and it was down to an app and the WiFi sleep policy. The WiFi sleep policy was set to ’15 minutes’ so the app was occasionally forcing a wake-lock to stop the WiFi from shutting off. This would also cause the screen to come on briefly. Could it be something like that? Sorry I can’t remember what the app was. Try leaving WiFi off and see if that stops it. If not successful try leaving auto-sync off. It will at least rule out or confirm something trying to force a wake-lock to sync something.
Edit: Does this do it only when on charge? Try opening up Car Dock Mode, and turning off 'Auto Launch'.

I noticed this too, but only on a Sense 3.5 ROM...Endymion (because, frankly, i didn't care much about any other Sense ROM to stay on it long enough to notice anything) ...but for me, the screen only lit up like a camera flash, just for a fraction of a second! not for a couple of seonds as you have experienced. Been on ICS betas, and RCs and currently on Reaper, but this issue never repeated itself. So far, this has happened to me only on a Sense 3.5 ROM...and my setup, sync frequency, installed apps hardly ever varies from ROM to ROM...I'm pretty consistent about how i like to use my phone.
And frankly, even when this was happening, i didn't bother much because it wasn't affecting performance or battery life... Sense is quirky, to say the least, but i've learnt to tolerate it like you would a sexy girlfriend. If it's sexy enough, it can get away with anything!!
I had this issue on the stock 2.3.3 ROM.

I can confirm that issue, like enigmaamit described it. I'm on endy 3.4. Weird...

I had the same issue but just one time few minutes after i pluged my phone .
Same here with MIUI... Just for a 1/10 of a second...
...via Tapatalk
I get this on ICS (virtuos quattro) when screen is off and charging, like half a second on and off again...
i've had this issue with pretty much every ROM, actually had it since i've had the phone. The phone lights up for a quick second. Enough for you to realise when your eyes are closed. i don't pay much attention to it anymore. But i don't think mine lasts seconds like yours. Mine was just a blank screen flashing

Cannot turn on Wifi/bluetooth (Sorta)

Hey guys, kinda run into a problem i have never had with my billions of android phones. Yesterday i ran into a problem when i was coming home from school, My wifi nor bluetooth could turn on, when i hit the button to turn either on, it stays on the "On" switch for a good 5 seconds. my moto x 2013 (4.4.4) was kinda also running hot and the battery drained super fast that day (Also My facebook messenger app used 150mb that day, i only Recived one message without responding :V), i let it sit on charge for maybe an hour and i was able to turn the stuff back on eventually, now today its happened once again and makes my Smart watch useless when there's no Bluetooth :v Any help? i have read that it might be a modem problem and all i would need to do is flash one but im on stock not rooted :v verizon 4.4.4 cant be rooted at this moment.
i think i might have solved it, i saw in another thread that recently they are having the problems as well and i have seemed to maybe fix my problem with what they did, if you have some sort of flashlight app, Delete it and reboot, my bluetooth and wifi was about to be used again, ill report back to see if it happens again.

in mos cases i've encountered, its some battery or connectivity manager that's the root cause. in other cases, its just a lagging device thing. You can read how to fix an Android phone whose WI-FI or Bluetooth wont turn on for more insigt on the causes of this issue

Weird Note 5 issue...my screen won't time out

As the title states, my screen won't time out. It started happening a few hours ago. I'll leave my phone down, it'll dim the screen, but it won't shut the screen off. I have the timeout setting set for 30 seconds. Ironically enough, this happened to my first note 5 and I thought it was a manufacture defect so I exchanged it for a brand new Note 5 and now the issue came back. Any one know what I can do to alleviate this problem? Is an app causing the screen to stay on? I'm not sure what to do at this point. Any advice would be great.

I seemed to have the same problem and then noticed my pen was ever so slightly out. I had already tried restarting, and that didn't help, but then put the pen back in and it's been fine since.

I seem to be having the same problem. I only notice it when it's charging. I hit the lock button and screen goes off, but it goes back on again if I get a notification. I get up in the middle of the night and the screen is on, very dim but on nonetheless. My spen is not out, I checked that also.

Hey guys, thanks for your responses. It seems as though it was an app that was causing this timeout issue. I just manually uninstalled some apps that I never use/came with the phone and all is back to normal. Thanks for your replies!

May I ask what apps you Uninstalled that nay have caused this, because m8nrme is still doing it. It only does it when it is charging and I get an email or message notification. Could that be the problem? I would hate to turn off messaging notifications.

If anyone is interested. I think I figured out the problem. I went into developer options and unchecked screen awake while charging. Stupid mistake, I have no idea why that would be turned on by default.

Hey man sorry for the delayed response. I actually didn't have screen awake on in developer mode. As for the app culprit, I'm not sure which app was keeping my screen on but I suggest disbaling/uninstalling every app that you don't use/need. It worked for me and hasn't been giving me a problem since then.

It could be if you had your carrier transfer stuff for you. We use developer options to turn USB debugging on. Also states to use the stay awake while charging option. Doesn't require it but lets us transfer without interruption. Just make sure its switched off under developer options.

Not Connected

I am constantly pulling my OP6 out of my pocket, to find it is not connected to a tower. And this happens all the time. It works great in my hand, but if I turn off the screen, and pocket the phone for 5 minutes, I expect to not have a tower when I turn the screen on.
Anyone else have this issue?
I flashed chewy kernel yesterday, that didn't effect the issue.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Experiences?

Flash it back to stock software and try again.
I just flashed CleanSlate kernel. If that makes no difference, will start over from stock. Will report.
Ended up installing xXx noLimits Rom. And for the most part the problem is gone. Couple times my signal downgraded, and once or twice it dropped, but no where near the rate of occurance.
I think I just need to wait for OnePlus to push out an updated modem.
Hey same thing happened to me when i first got the phone. I changed apn settings but to no avail still had the constant drop. i reset the network settings and it seems to have corrected itself. the hotspot also kicks off all connected devices for a quick second before reconnecting.
As expected, 1.5.6 brought modem update. Huge improvement.
