Main thing is that your sim may or may not work. I had a BLN-L21 originally and debranded to BLN-AL20. My SIM doesn't work but it's an easy fix. Requires root.

No. Only way is unofficially. Let me guess. You have BLN-L21 and want to debrand to BLN-L22 to update via OTA? Won't work. Manually update from EMUI 5 BLN-L21 to EMUI 8 BLN-AL20 and then flash a Pie Custom ROM with working NFC. That's what I did. Working like a charm.

It only works, if your phone has hardware for NFC. This is only true at the very early delivered 6X and may be all 6X pro for europe. Without NFC Hardware you can change branding, but never get usable NFC.

current UK version

Hi,
Does anyone know what the current UK firmware release version is?
I'm on B182 but think there may be others in the UK on something more recent.
If you have something more recent, how did you get the update?
Thanks.
Hi I'm in UK on three same version as you

B193 was released a few days ago on Huaweis servers, it's probably not approved to anyone yet.

Just got B190 yesterday morning.
Just got B190 in UK.
Just got B190 today uk.
I went back to B190 because B193 is a bit buggy, and I experienced battery drain (could be because of other things)

Yes. But no. Hwota lets you install any update, or downgrade. I would still be at B138 if it wasn't for that.
My Mate 9 is from Germany and I'm in Sweden, it seems I must use a German sim to get OTA.

This one https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
It requires to unlock bootloader and you can only flash Full firmware, not OTA updates.
Also it seems Android Pay doesn't want to work in recent builds if they are uncertified (which they are until Huawei approves them)

I tried to AL10 Chinese version of the EMUI brush European version of the EMUI, and then brush RROS. In addition to brush off the FRP lock (also successfully unlocked), the other is OK. If you are willing to take this risk, I think I can provide the Chinese version of EMUI4.1 (almost B171)

Does the L22 has NFC?
If not, then there are differences, because L21 does.

I also don't know because restricting a client based on its region is unfair...
But unfortunately that's thing many brands do...
Sad.

I mean if you rebranded to 432 from some other model, was it 432 when you bought it?
You can always update through this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-oreo-update-package-t3699522
It requires you to unlock bootloader, it gets locked when it's updated.
