I just noticed it today, it was all fine just couple of weeks ago, when I took photo of a document, with flash enabled, the photo came out totally bled out by flash! Nothing can be read! It's like when you take photo of on object real close with flash, only in this case I took it from a distance! Is this like a hardware problem or what? Anyone experienced anything like this? Hate to use flash myself and never use it either, except for taking photos of documents!

For some reasons, my 8525 camera's pictures have been looking faded. I've tried resetting everything, but still not better. It's almost like the autobalance is messed up or something. Can someone take a look at this picture and give me a suggestion or something? I'm a realtor so I use my camera on my phone alot.

Thanks for the help Mike. Would a ROM upgrade do the same thing as a hard reset? I've held off on upgrading to the latest because honestly everything has worked fine on my phone since I've had it. But it upgrading will do the same thing, then I might go ahead and do it.
So I jsut updated my google camera app yesterday and was eager to try any new features and test the camera, when all of a sudden I noticed that there is a dark blemish right in the middle of the screen. I am 100% sure it wasnt there when i bought it, as I did tested it extensively. At first I thought that it was actually a screen defect or that there is a smudge on the lenses.
It appears on every photo, HDR or not. It is best visible on light background. You can check the attached test photo i did.
I am not a huge photography fan, but it does bother me alot knowing that my brand new 2 months old nexus defected. Its rooted ofcourse, so there is no guarantee.
I read somewhere that this is caused by a dust particle inside the camera lenses.
So I just wanted to know whether someone else is suffering from that exact same issue. And if there is an easy way to cope with that problem, e.g. disassembling the lense or forcing air into it :silly:
So, yes, any opinions would be welcome.

I wouldn't advise you to open the device up yourself.. You will surely loose warranty if you mess up.
If you think it's a hardware issue then Flash the factory images from Google to return to stock
, reset the tamper flag, lock the bootloader and send it in..

Yep, I can confirm the same experience as you! Only appeared yesterday! I have the Rev11 Hardware.
A bit of googling did reveal others with the same issue...
I have tried a can of compressed air, tapping phone...No joy, it's still there...
I have also tried different camera apps to confirm. Interestingly it was post updating the google camera app too. (but i do not believe this too be the root cause, I've had many specs of dust in my DSLRs before and to appears to me to be dust on the rear of the lens or on the sensor!) I would expect these to be sealed on our phones!
RMA, warranty...are looming...any other ideas peeps?

I tried the tapping trick too - did not work for me either
I'm still contemplating over the idea of reverting to stock, locking the bootloader and sending in my faulty unit. It would probably take a couple of weeks and I don't want to part ways with my N5 for so long. But living with that nasty blemish on my camera is equally frustrating

I had this issue a few months back; the image you posted looks identical to the issue I had.
Google covered it under warranty and sent me a new device. They asked me to do a full factory reset to confirm it wasn't software related. The process was pretty smooth: if they do send you a new device, you just send your N5 back once it comes so you're not stuck without a phone for a while or anything. They do put a hold on your credit card for the price of the phone until they get your phone, though.
I had it rooted and everything prior to sending it in, but I unrooted/reset the tamper flag before sending it in (and did a factory reset obviously).
I have the same problem but with Nexus 5x. Not 100% sure was the dark spot in the middle at the beginning or not. Now the device is about a week old.

In fact, even in very low light if the flash goes off, the picture is foggy looking. Anyone else experience this or have any thoughts? Really irritating. Pictures are great looking if no flash though (on both phones).

I haven't used flash yet but I read somewhere that manual mode reduces this fog effect. i'm guessing it's some sort of lens flare? Try playing with the different scene modes and settings.
Same issue with mine. Been working all week on it and cannot get a good picture inside

Need some examples, really. Are you using a case on your phone? Try without. Try a few different modes (auto, manual etc) and see if there's a pattern.
Manual mode and changing iso up seems to allow for better pics.

Yes same problem already talked about in depth, try manual mode, keep the ISO as low as possible with the flash, in fact if the object is more than 5m away, then the flash will not really do much, turn it off and increase the ISO
I had the same Problem, and after testing if it was the case or the Glascover, because sometimes the
Pics were foggy and sometimes not.
Some of the Glas Cover makes Reflextions on to the Lens but the worse
are the Fingers on the left Side of the Phone, when you make pics in landscape.
The Finger on the left Top makes so many Reflections to the lens that the Imgages becomes
foggy.
When you make a Pic and hold the Phone in the middle, than all the Pics with Flash are good,
You can test it by yourself in Automodus or Manuell.

Hi all, I've been searching around but can't find anyone else having this problem. I only got the phone a few days ago, and the first time I tried to take a photo in mixed lighting conditions I thought I was doing something wrong, as it was metering really badly and the shot just looked all hazy. Then I tried again and again and every time it would just give me a hazy image. I tried taking my case off the back, no change. I compared shots to my wife's Galaxy S4 in the same scenario and her's were miles beyond mine in terms of quality, they metered perfectly. I'm beginning to think the phone is a lemon, but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. I've tried stock software as well as a root, and both give me the same issue. As I'm a new user I can't post a link but I'll try and work out how to show you all what's happening (you could try searching photobucket for user mattrico, then it's the first image of the lot - the kitchen picture).
Anyway, this is the icing on the cake because I have already been having issues with hotspot (it's not installed on this phone) and data roaming (can't find that either), I bought the phone from the USA and I live in Australia so I've already gone through issues of getting here and the extra cost, I really don't want to send it back but I'm thinking I have no other option.

when I got My S9 I was amazed by the pics IT took. Sharp and Colorful. I used cm13. After some time it started taking aweful pics. Nothing seems to help I even went back to Stock, but still the Same issue.
Anyone experienced Problems like that?
