That makes 2 of us. I just flashed the latest stable MIUI today (Global), and was running perfectly fine for about an hour. Then all of a sudden as soon as the device screen turns off via sleep, or I lock it myself, I boot into TWRP. I refuse to run MIUI when not rooted. Typically too buggy for my liking, and lackluster in a lot of features.

Well, on the XE when running official global, the device will not boot when you install magisk..
Do this to fix it:
1.
reboot into twrp recovery and connect to pc
2. flash magisk
3. mount system partition
4. On the computer, open a terminal and type
adb pull /system/build.prop
5. open build.prop and find
ro.product.name
6. change it to any value except polaris
7. back to terminal and type
adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
8. reboot

Can´t boot to recovery. Always landing in QUALCOMM CrashDump Mode

Like the title says, I can´t boot to recovery (Oneplus one). If I try to boot to recovery, I´m ending in the Qualcomm CrashDump Mode.
I have a Oneplus 7 Pro with Stable 10.0 BA FW.
Rooted with Magisk (Patched Boot.img) Is this causing the problem?
After pressing Vol+ and powerbutton, the devices boots normally.
Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue this morning when trying to update to 10.0.1. Just boot to bootloader and boot twrp then install 10.
I think is the magisk update (magisk 20.0) that causes this, because it's happening to me in the beta 3 and before I updated magisk it was working fine with the beta 2

I have no issues with magisk or twrp.
It might be the way you are installing ota or rom.
Might be model specific not sure as I don't know what model you are on. Mine is GM1915.
I'm talking about the official recovery
GM21AA, exactly the same situation (from 10 stable to 10.0.1 and magisk from 19.4 beta to 20) and the stock recovery bump into Qualcomm Crashdump problem here, system bootup normal as well as bootloader.
Troubleshooting:
1. Local update twice, install magisk at inactive slot OTA before reboot, for Android 10's A/B partitions machinasm , try let magisk patch both boot.img. Same...
2. Local update and reboot, lost root but stock recovery work, Fastboot boot twrp.img (latest, not flash, cause I don't need the permanent twrp)->twrp install magisk, reboot system, then, again, same problem.
Todo:
Magisk manager or twrp uninstall magisk, but if it's fail maybe ended up to bootloop, scary.
May try to install back old 19.4 magisk.zip via twrp, it's working in 10.0.0
Anyone with the same problem have any idea?
Thats the exact same error I ran into.
But as mentioned earlier, I never had TWRP on my OP7P. I flashed the patched boot.img via adb and I´m still on 10.0 BA Firmware.
I thought TWRP dosn´t work on Android Q (I´m coming from an Pixel3 and there it won´t work) So maybe I will give TWRP a try tomorrow. Are there different versions or is the official one the best?

Be sure to read through
So thanks erveryone who helped.
I now have TWRP running as recovery. So there is no need for official recovery. (and no Qualcomm CrashDump Mode)
Had this happen to me earlier this week. Just ended up using the MSM tool and restoring shipping firmware. You can look for the unbricking thread here for more info on that.
Yea, this just happened to me. Updated Magisk, Updated to 10.0.1 from 10.0. Booted fine.
Re-installed a few magisk modules (didn't just re check the modules, but reinstalled each)
Now OS won't boot, and recovery goes to Crash Dump. Would be ok if OS wouldn't bootloop and I could get to OS.
Oh, and my ADB now is an unauthorized device while its in bootloop mode
EDIT:
phew. Tried to hold volume up+dn rather than up or dn, got into bootloader. Able to fastboot boot TWRP and then delete problematic RIRU magisk modules. All is well in the world now...
I don't get it why it have to be so hard.
I'm constantly soft bricking/ bootlooping this phone when trying to do simple things such flashing magisk and twrp. I remember it being so much easier with my Poco F1, never got close to bricking it.
Now every little mistake ends with a bricked phone and 5 hours on the internet trying to understand why

Same issue here and no TWRP installed.
I did ADB REBOOT FASTBOOT and was able to install the twrp image by FASTBOOT BOOT twrp-3.3.1-70-guacamole-unified-Q-mauronofrio.img
Going to try and remove Magisk and see if I can salvage my data and then re-install Magisk afterwards.
Ok...got back into the system by flashing the Magisk Uninstaller in TWRP that is here: https://magiskroot.net/md/Magisk_Manager_for_Recovery_Mode_(mm)-2019.4.4.zip
Went to advanced in TWRP, then to terminal, then typed mm.
Typed in C for Core only to load into system without Magisk. Deleted my Magisk modules that may have interfered with it (I had an older version of No Limit that I should have updated prior. After removing and rebooting back into system, all is fine now.

Yea man, things are hinkey this update.
My big problem was i had twrp but it got wiped i guess (could no longer access) and couldn't access adb nor fastboot. But finally got into bootloader (cmd fastboot) so was able to fix.
Easier solution than installing Magisk uninstaller (presuming one has twrp installed, which would be the case if able to flash Magisk uninstaller) is go to TWRP>advanced>file manager and navigate data/adb/modules and delete from there
DO you guys know if there is an updated magisk being developed or what is the way to fix it? Uninstall magisk via TWRP (since I can temporarily install and get into TWRP using the all in one tool by the TWRP developer). Then install TWRP and then Install Magisk ?
I have same problem

Magisk module bricked my phone, since then TWRP and Magisk not working anymore

tl;dr
TWRP doesn't encrypt/mount storage,
Magisk kills WiFi.
Before I bricked the phone with a Magisk module, everything was working.
Had to revive my phone with MSM, stuck in qualcomm crashdump.
Now stock firmware is working, but I cannot get phone rooted with working WiFi / working TWRP.
==================================================
This is how I did it before (clean install, unlocked OEM)
1. boot into fastboot/bootloader
2. fastboot > fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-70-guacamole-unified-Q-mauronofrio.img
3. boot into recovery mode
4. install OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.E.21_OTA_021_all_1910071445_89e89c225a754eb6.zip
5. install twrp-installer-3.3.1-4-guacamole.zip
6. reboot into recovery
7. Install Magisk-v20.0.zip
8. reboot system
DONE and it worked.
NOW:
1-6 stay the same.
But when I get back into recovery, TWRP doesn't read/mount the storage.
adb push magisk to sdcard/ and try to install leads to following:
Updating partition details...
...done
Unable to mount storage
Failed to mount "/data" (Invalid argument)
Full SELinux is present.
Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps
MTP Enabled
- blablabla
- installing
- Done
Updating partition details...
...done
Unable to mount storage

...guess what, Magisk is not installed/working
- Repair/change file system doesn't work.
(phone will boot into system instead of recovery, back to recovery still Internal Storage at 0 MB)
- formatting data + Wiping Dalvic / ART Cache, System, Cache doesn't work
(will all lead to stuck in Fastboot -> recovery due to fastboot image)
(installing boot.img (on A & B) and TWRP.zip doesn't help)
- install OOS and then just flash TWRP without flashing stock firmware doesn't change
Alternative
1-6 stay the same.
7. boot into fastboot
8. boot TWRP *-70 again
9. encrypting now works, mounted
10. isntall MAGISK (20.0 or 20.1)
11. reboot system
At this point it seems like everything is working, but with MAGISK now installed, WIFI won't work. Can't activate WiFi it at all.
So, i have no idea what I changed.
Rooting worked before the brick. Now it stopped working.
My friend has that problem after rooting his phone with magisk..
Just flaah the rom and wifi will be back..
HOW TO FLASH
This version is only for not branded devices
Download the zip;
Unpack the zip in a folder;
Reboot the OnePlus 7 Pro in fastboot mode (Power and volume + and volume-);
Connect the OnePlus 7 Pro to PC;
Run flash-all.bat flasher you need;
Wait until the process end;
The phone will automatically reboot.

Thank you, Sir
I should have mentioned that I already flashed a dozen times to stock firmware. Used the package from your link as well when I was stuck in fastboot.
My mistake, I should have been more accurate with my problem.
Getting it back to stock firmware isn't the problem.
Getting it back as a rooted device with working WiFi and working TWRP is the problem.
Stock OOS - without TWRP, without Magisk » ROM working
Stock OOS + TWRP (3.3.1-4) » TWRP not working; ROM working (but this combo worked before)
Stocks OOS + TWRP (3.3.1-70) » TWRP working, ROM working[/b] (but TWRP *-70 should be replaced by *-4 afaik[/U]; correct me if I am wrong)
Stock OOS + Magisk + TWRP *-70/TWRP*-4 » Magisk working, ROM no WiFi. (fixable through reflashing stock firmware and deleting everything)
So maybe any ideas why Magisk/TWRP stopped working now? And how I can get my OP7P rooted and the stable TWRP working?
Solved
Reinstalling boot.img + TWRP 3.3.1-70 installer.zip + Magisk v20.1.zip did it this time

Hey, can you go into more details? I'm having the same trouble of not being able to install magisk (stock rom with twrp installed).
Where can I get this boot.img? And what's the exact process to installing it? Thanks.
For me, I never booted into bootloader. I ran fastboot boot /path/to/TWRP.img, while still booted up and that took me to recovery and I used TWRP installer and flashed magisk from there.
I tried almost all the other methods, and kept soft bricking. I didn't patch anything, booting from fastboot soft bricked me.
I just started experiencing connection issues after installing a Magisk modules, but I read a custom kernel solves that.

Sure.
The boot image I got from:
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=294300
(download the fastboot firmware for your device, for me it was "10.0.1-GM21BA".
open the archive, open the next folder, extract the "boot.img" file to your PC)
Magisk I got from:
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
(I used 20.1, 19.4/20.0 seems to work more stable for more people)
TWRP I got from:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...nt/recovery-unofficial-twrp-recovery-t3931322
(Download image for Q and twrp-installer.zip)
===================================
1. Boot into fastboot
(developer options > advanced restart > restart bootloader or power device off > HOLD volume down and press power till in fastboot)
2. In fastboot: "fastboot boot twrp70.img"
(#protip: drag & drop file into CMD)
2.1. wait till phone encrypted everything and TWRP started
3. Copy twrp70.zip, boot.img & Magisk-v20.1.zip to your phone
(I put it in the TWRP folder)
no reboots in-between!
3. In twrp homescreen: install > install image > boot.img > choose "boot" > install
4. In twrp homescreen: install > install zip > twrp70.zip > install
4.1 wipe dalvik
5. In twrp homescreen: install > install zip > magisk-v20.1.zip > install
5.1 wipe dalvik
6. In twrp homescreen: reboot > system
Done.
Hope it works for you too.

Oneplus 7 Pro Bootloot

Hello, So i tried to install GPS joystick privacy mode app as a system app first thru titanium backup then ..., i rebooted and now im on boot loop, what do i do?
Any help is appreciated, Thanks
{Mod edited}
Hold Power + vol up + vol down for several seconds should put you in bootloader. Or alteranately, Power+vol down for several seconds should send you to TWRP if you have it installed. From there, I'm thinking you may need to flash the stock ROM again, since you were messing with the system partition, and the phone is not booting now. Either flash stock ROM in TWRP, or use the fastboot stock ROM.
I didn't have twrp installed and i still dont, i patched the boot image with magisk and all i have is root cause i cant seem to keep TWRP installed after 9.5.3, im currently on 10.3.0

You should be able to fastboot flash stock boot.img from the fastboot ROMs to get the phone running again: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424
This will unroot the phone. But you should be able to easily root again by the method you did originally.
What is the problem you are having with installing TWRP? You haven't specifically described how you tried to install. I've had no issues using the TWRP installer zip, after multiple updates.
You need to re flash stock so, boot lastest twrp (fastboot boot twrp.img) and flash lastest stock rom.
And if you need an app as system use magisk module App Systemizer (you also need busybox module and Termux app from playstore) this is the only way (that I known) to convert user apps to system

tried that first part too, cant get into twrp and that makes sense now, i installed busy box but never opened the app to install to system/xbin
here's how ive done my part so far.. ever since i bricked my device last feb 24 , rendering it totally unresponsive.. that not even vol up & power button dont work
1. had to use msm tool just to boot my device. successfully boot my device to 9.5.3
2. device seemed to have a locked bootloader again so i un.lock it again. downloaded a patched 9.5.3 boot.img and flashed it via fastboot
3. successful root confirmed..
4. downloaded twrp 3.3.1-75 unofficial installer.. about 17.5mb. flashed it thru magisk as a module.. then install magisk ( as recommended) then reboot.
5. after a reboot.. and setting it up to my liking,, i reboot to twrp to flash the latest 10.3.1 stable rom..
6. flash twrp installer again.
7. hit reboot then choose Recovery . phone reboot to recovery again
8. flash magisk.zip which i downloaded earlier. then reboot.
done
updated to 10.3.1 with magisk & twrp intact..

That is because that is NOT the correct way to install TWRP img. You need to fastboot boot TWRP, then once in TWRP flash the TWRP installer zip, as I already mentioned.
This is described in the TWRP dev's thread (and you will see no mention of fastboot flash TWRP).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...nt/recovery-unofficial-twrp-recovery-t3931322
Also make sure you use a current version of TWRP (latest is unofficial -76) which you can get from the above link.

Rooting MIUI 12 on Mi Mix 2s?

Folks,
I wish to update to MIUI 12 but I also want to have ROOT and Magisk functionality.
Is it the same process as before where we:
1) fastboot boot recovery.img (this is twrp)
2) then flash Magisk?
has anyone achieved Root and Magisk functionality on MIUI 12 on Mi Mix 2S ?
I flashed MIUI 12 using fastboot then Magisk using Orange Fox and everything was fine. So the process is the same. I used Magisk v21.

Thanks bro,
Yea I flashed it the old TWRP/Magisk method and it works.
Placing my personal step by step instructions here in case anyone needs it. You can use Orange Fox in place of TWRP. Your choice.
Get latest Magisk Zip (Magisk-v21.0+) https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/
Copy Magisk-v21.0.zip to Phone Storage
Get latest TWRP (twrp-3.4.0-0-polaris+) https://dl.twrp.me/polaris/
Copy twrp-3.4.0-0-polaris.img to Phone Storage
Rename twrp-3.4.0-0-polaris.img to recovery.img (on local PC)
Go to bootloader mode (Power & Vol - )
CMD the following command: fastboot boot recovery.img
after starting TWRP on the phone flash twrp-3.4.0-0-polaris.img file again in TWRP by clicking Install then Select Image then Recovery Partition.
and after this, do not restart
flash Magisk-v21.0.zip
restart
and TWRP remains and you have root.
Regards..

Stock rom has software that checks recovery and replaces it with stock if it detects changes. After you flash recovery in fastboot make sure you power off. Then boot to recovery with button combo and flash the recovery zip (orange fox). After flash it should reboot and automatically edit files to stop stock recovery install.

[HELP] TRWP 3.5.0-0 + Magisk 23.0 with Surya Global 12.0.1.0 on POCO X3 NFC

Hello
My X3 NFC was rooted with Magisk 23.0 and I had installed mahajant99's TWRP 3.5.0-0.
Everything was working fine and I need root especially for Titanium Backup, aProfiles and other apps.
I updated to the official Surya GLobal 12.0.1.0 firmware with TWRP, taking care to reinstall just after Magisk 23.0 still with TWRP.
The phone booted, but impossible to enter the system (the screen remains on the MIUI logo) and when I tried to start the recovery, I had the message "The system has been destroyed"!
I managed to restart the phone by reinstalling the original (unrooted) boot.img with fastboot and the phone rebooted normally. The original recovery reinstalled itself...
If I try to install TWRP, I get the message "The system has been destroyed" and if I install a rooted boot.img with fastboot, the phone boots, but unable to enter the system (the screen remains on the MIUI logo).
Has anyone had the same mishap as me?
How do I resolve these issues so that I can reinstall TWRP and Magisk?
Regards

Regards

You patched the boot.img correctly?

Hello
My X3 NFC was rooted with Magisk 23.0 and I had installed mahajant99's TWRP 3.5.0-0.

That TWRP is completely outdated. You need this one:

Hello,
Thanks, this allowed me to move forward, but not yet to install TWRP ... I think for Android 11 version it will need update from TWRP Surya 3.5.2_10-5. On the other hand, I managed to root my phone, which is already great!
When I install TWRP with fastboot and despite having installed avb-patcher (included in TWRP) as well as activated the prevention so that TWRP is not replaced by the original recovery, the system always restarts on the TWRP recovery with the message "android rescue party trigger fix" and the reason "enablefilecrypto_failed"...
Fortunately I can start TWRP with the command "fastboot boot twrp.img" to reinstall the original firmware without losing my data and get a working system....
I nevertheless managed to install Magisk and root the phone with TWRP using the "fastboot boot twrp.img" command while keeping the original recovery. I have restarted several times and it continues to be rooted with no issues. I breathe...
But, I think that we should not install avb-patcher (included in TWRP), because then impossible to enter the system, we always go back to the original recovery. To check...
Thank you again and see you soon.
