HI Letschky, thanks for the reply. This is a very useful and comprehensive resource! Thanks for putting that together
Unfortunately this does not currently include a Huawei direct link for GEM-703L B112 but only B109. Might you have this for B112? That would be amazing if so.
Never mind, the B109 link is now automatically a B112 link and I believe I have what I need!
Thanks again. To flash this, do I just download it onto a desktop and use HiSuite? Would this remove and reflash EVERY partition on the device? I am looking to flash because I bought this phone second-hand from someone who has already locked the bootloader and I want to be sure it is completely safe.
Thanks.
Download,Copy the Update.App in internal or external Memory in dload Folder, you have no dload folder then create this folder.
Go in settings to Updateprogram -Menu-Local Update and choose the update app and wait until it makes a reboot

Thanks. I had just another couple of quick questions.
* As I said above I bought this device second-hand with the bootloader already unlocked. I then used the Vol Dn + Power to do a wipe on cache and data, and shortly thereafter downloaded and installed update B112 via Settings -> Updater. How is it that Google Services Framework is a system app under "Networked apps"? This leads me to believe my system partition is not "stock" from Huawei.
* If I downloaded and installed update B112 via Settings -> Updater, is that the same as using what I downloaded via the Huawei link you provided and following the instructions in your last post?
Thanks very much
Yes,Google Framework is in System on it and yes this is the same from Huawei Server and is Original Stockrom.

Letschky, thanks for this information. I was worried that because GSF was a system app my sys partition was modified but after second thought the likelihood of this is possible but low since the UPDATE.APP flashes every partition besides the data partition which I also wiped when first acquiring the device . As such, the only way the device could be compromised is if something was copied into the data partition between the time I wiped it and when I updated to B112 - low probability.
Please correct me if I am wrong and sorry for being so picky.

Then go check out the "how to update to B209" post, dude.
it's already a step by step procedure.
Can you explain me what should I do to have the best available ROM for my 701L-B005 ?
Should I convert to 702 and then move to b209 and after that to KangVIP ? if yes then shall it be done by one file or there is a need for special cust conversion ?
Does it work properly with European LTE bands ? I mean, do the KangVIP or 702L have the right radio to support hardware of 701L ?
I don't want to post that I bricked my device, I would like to know from a start what is the right path.

I can't tell you what's best for your phone. It's totally up to you. Some people are happy staying in Android 5.0, some in Android 5.1.1 and some in Android 6.0. There's no best answer, just up to you.
If you do feel like to convert, check out audioralf's guide on How to install new ROM on GEM 701, 702 and 703. It's helpful.
As far as I know, the firmware doesn't affect the LTE bands.

I made the mistake of upgrading to Oreo

And central of my apps no longer work. Is there a way to downgrade?
I've been looking around, and I'm just not quite educated enough on the Mate 9 to get there.
I found a thread that talks of downgrading, but it was written back in November, way before my version. IT talks about rebranding and stuff, which I'm thinking I wouldn't need to do.
I found this, but it says sit is Latin America. Mine is US.
I'll keep browsing around. If anyone has a pointer to right place for how to do this on a US version, it'd be appreciated.
BTW...I have also found the original 567 firmware here. Maybe it's as simple as downloaded that and applying? (Of course I would need to find how I do that).
1. Install HiSuite
2. System Update
3. Rollback to last stable version
4. Profit
sorry, what does "central of my apps no longer work" mean? I assume that is a typo, but I can't figure out what you were saying. I was having an issue with notifications, but I think i got that fixed, but just setting everything to manual

You are right. I posted from my phone, and failed to go back and check for the usual auto correct that screws up words. Central was supposed to be 'several'. Sorry for the confusion.
@crumpz, I'm on that now and hopefully I'll be back working.
I suspect my apps that aren't working are old ones. Darn it.
i just noticed in your signature you have had the V20 and the Mate 9. I currently have both and i got back and forth

Yeah. I liked the v20. Forget now why I sent it back, but I'm sure it is in my linked discussion about it.
I've been very, very happy with the Mate 9. Until just now. The Oreo doesn't like some of my apps.
I just opened another thread on my issue, but just for the info here: I backed up in HiSuite on the PC; I backed up with Huawei Backup to my external SD card. Did the downgrade with HiSwuite. Now HiSuite says I have no data to restore on the PC (what the heck?), and Backup on the phone does not recognize the external SD card, even though the PC sees it on the phone, as well as EZ File Explorer.
At the moment I am copying what I hope is the backed up files from the external to the internal, and hoping that Huawei Backup will recognize them.

9.0.0.195(c432e5r1p9t8) otg!

Hello, you can update it using the OTG method. The update cleans everything, make copies. Everything is done as in the case of upgrading to 9.0.163
We leave a negative folder for our device.
*#*#2846579#*#* and go to Software Update and then select SD upgrade.

Note I do not take responsibility for damages.

Doesn't work for me. I am on 9.0.0.163 and it shows software installed failed. However internal documents show that 163 can be upgraded to 195 through OTG so what's wrong???

I did extract the zip folder and put only the dload folder to an sd stick
Removed the CLT-L09 File from the dload folder and only used this 2 files CLT-L29_hw_eu and the update_sd.zip
That work for me.

What does happen changing customized firmware?

Hello,
I tried searching in every Sony forum, I must be unlucky or I'm typing the wrong keywords.
I own a Xperia XZ Premium Dual (G8142), CDA 1308-6877 (customized HK), firmware 47.2.A.8.24 while the others have 47.2.A.10.80 (looking on xpericheck.com). I also own a Xperia XA2 Ultra Dual (H4233), with the same problem.
My question: can I change customization on my phone, and if yes, what should i do, to receive faster and the latest updates?
Thank you in advance,
Cactuss

If you really feel there is some sort of advantage to having the latest firmware on your phone, then upgrade it yourself, you won't damage the phone or change your warranty status.
Look on Xperiafirm and find a 47.2.A.10.80 customised build - CE1 would be a good option
Download Newflasher and put it in the same folder as the firmware you downloaded from Xperiafirm
Delete Userdataxxx.sin and files ending in .ta (except in the boot folder). This will ensure that you don't lose any personal data. Also delete persist*.sin to avoid losing android attest key.
Then start newflasher.exe and follow instrctions.
You might need a copy of the Sony driver
I would make a backup with Xperia transfer before you do anything, if the phone is glitchty after your rebuild, then factory reset it and then restore from the backup.

Thank you for fast reply! You solved every doubt I had.
I hope Android 9 will roll out soon for my XA2 ultra (since custom HK is the last one with Android 8). If not, I will follow your instructions.
Just one more question: what about not deleting userdataxxx.sin and .ta files, for a clean install? I don't care to save personal data, since it's all cloud based.
Thank you again!

It's the userdataxxx.sin file that decides if the data folder is overwritten or not. Leave it in for a clean wipe.
The ta files need to go so you don't damage your TA partition that holds your DRM key.
