Hello,
I tried searching in every Sony forum, I must be unlucky or I'm typing the wrong keywords.
I own a Xperia XZ Premium Dual (G8142), CDA 1308-6877 (customized HK), firmware 47.2.A.8.24 while the others have 47.2.A.10.80 (looking on xpericheck.com). I also own a Xperia XA2 Ultra Dual (H4233), with the same problem.
My question: can I change customization on my phone, and if yes, what should i do, to receive faster and the latest updates?
Thank you in advance,
Cactuss

If you really feel there is some sort of advantage to having the latest firmware on your phone, then upgrade it yourself, you won't damage the phone or change your warranty status.
Look on Xperiafirm and find a 47.2.A.10.80 customised build - CE1 would be a good option
Download Newflasher and put it in the same folder as the firmware you downloaded from Xperiafirm
Delete Userdataxxx.sin and files ending in .ta (except in the boot folder). This will ensure that you don't lose any personal data. Also delete persist*.sin to avoid losing android attest key.
Then start newflasher.exe and follow instrctions.
You might need a copy of the Sony driver
I would make a backup with Xperia transfer before you do anything, if the phone is glitchty after your rebuild, then factory reset it and then restore from the backup.

Thank you for fast reply! You solved every doubt I had.
I hope Android 9 will roll out soon for my XA2 ultra (since custom HK is the last one with Android 8). If not, I will follow your instructions.
Just one more question: what about not deleting userdataxxx.sin and .ta files, for a clean install? I don't care to save personal data, since it's all cloud based.
Thank you again!

It's the userdataxxx.sin file that decides if the data folder is overwritten or not. Leave it in for a clean wipe.
The ta files need to go so you don't damage your TA partition that holds your DRM key.

Hi,
I have searched in the forums but i couldnt find any solution to my problem.
My phone is a LG Optimus 7 unbranded on mango.
I want to backup my phone, update it to the latest rom with tethering enabled and after that i want to restore from backup.
How can i do that?
Thanks in advance!
There is no tool that can do that right now. The backup only happens when a new updates come in and Zune does that. It cannot be done manually.
Thanks for the fast answer!
So do i have to wait for the tethering update to appear in Zune or do i have to flash another firmware?

Only Zune will be able to do it. So I guess unless they do you have no choice. And No Firmware can enable it.
wpxbox is actually incorrect, there is a tool to create an image-based backup (like Zune does when updating) on demand. Search the Development and Hacking sub-forum, and you can find it. Note that it requires a program, updatewp.exe, that was once distributed by Microsoft and no longer is, so you'll need to find a copy of it (and the version for that copy must exactly match your Zune version).
However, what you're asking for isn't actually useful anyhow, unless you want to install the update and then immediately remove it. A WP7 backup is really more properly called a restore point - it's a full image of the phone's entire storage, including the parts that are normally read-only (the ROM). Restoring that image overwrites everything, including the ROM. Updates are modifications to the ROM, and restoring a backup will therefore remove the update.
That cleared the things... Thanks.
Thanks for correcting me. Apprciate that.
Yes there is a tool which you can find here but to make it work you need to use Old version of Zune and replace couple of DLL.
I personally have tried it but for some reason it did not work for and hence I was not recommending it. But thats me.
Go ahead and give it a shot to see if it works for you. If yes let me know how you did.

Thanks for providing the direct link. I was able to get it working, although it took a lot of work to find matching versions of the tool installer (v1, not v2) and Zune software. It's possible, though. Take a look at the Backup header in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271963. It has instructions and links that you may be able to use to make the tool work.
Hi,
I finally poured in one complete day figuring out what was in that thread and made it work. I have written my version of making it work here
And Have also created a Video Demo as a Proof that How I made it work. Any feedback is appreciated.
The video is like 11:28 Minutes long. Where I have :
First showed what is my phone
Then created a Backup
Showed where the backup is actually stored i.e. Zune Default restore point
Reset my Phone
Used the Backup to bring it normal state.

Reply #1 If you are using Sony PC Companion to update your phone, yes, your internal memory will be wiped. The result may differ updating from the device itself (ie OTA - Over The Air). A third method would imply using Flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/index.php with a FTF file.
Reply #2 Using Sony method, your warranty would not be void.
Reply #3 If you don't know how to backup your apps, contacts and documents, it would not be worth updating. If you rooted your devices under 4.3 (unlikely) you may not be able to root it under Kitkat (4.4) although workarounds may exist (development forum).
Regards
May app data was all present after upgrading from 4.3 to KK with PC-C. Certainly it is still the safest to move important things to SD memory.
I did not see any relevant change in battery live, stability or else. Only relevant change for me is the Quicksettings menu is more clever. That said, the usefull GPS switch is lost, it's now in bundle with Location on/off (scheisse idea, that). Otherwise the differences are microscopic, unlike with other Sony phones. At that point I'd not upgrade to KK for this phone if intention is to root. You have more option for customization under 4.3.
Hello, first thanks for such an amazing community.
Just taken receipt of the H60 L12. The phone was updated by the seller with B611. The kernel version is 3.10.30-g41362b8-dirty.
I apologise in advance, I know most of the information is already on the forum, but I'm nowhere near as efficient at processing information as most. Just need a little clarity.
I would really like to remove the Chinese characters from the magazine lock/ contacts, some miscellaneous apps and change up to the B307.
I've read through the Honor 6 H60-L04 ROOTING METHOD Step by Step
Can this method be used for the L12?
Step 2 of the guide says:
Download, unzip and open the Honor 6 Multi Tool folder.
Extract the file SuperSU.zip from the 'Tools' folder and put it on your phone's SD Card.
I downloaded Multi-Tool but is UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip the same as SuperSu.zip everyone refers to?
Thanks in advance.
Just disable the magazine and the chinese chars are gone .
The chinese chars are together with the pictures. Some info about the picture and the photographer or so. Change the pictures to your own and the chinese writing is gone.
Removing the chars from the contacs is possible but breaks the updates.
You can root with the Multi Tool or manual with these howto: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57271243&postcount=5 It is in the same thread as the multitool and from the dev of this tool.
The supersu zip should be the same or just a newer version. I thinks the Multi-Tools keeps the versions up to date
Thank you so much Julsen. I now have an English lock screen. Yay!
Thanks also for clarifying root & BL. I will read it All again. If I have any hiccups I will post back. :fingers-crossed:
You are welcome. I was in the contacts app and it seems the chinese chars are gone in the b310 built
Gesendet von meinem H60-L12 mit Tapatalk
Hi there again,
Moving over to the new B310 from B611. In order to achieve this, will I have to unlock BL and Root?
Also, the phone currently has playstore on it. Will I lose this or will I have to reinstall?
Apologies for newbie questions, better safe than sorry.
There is no Unlock nor Root needed for the updates. Just grab the right ROM from the EMUI site or from the Archive here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57273395&postcount=3
The update should be done without losing ur data but you should make a backup for the worst case. For the update you need the stock recovery and an untouched build.prob
Just read in the threads. Most of your questions was already asked and aswered.
Thanks again Julsen,
Without sounding completely daft, do I need build.prop for both B611 and B307?
I have no idea if the current build.prop has been modified or is untouched. How does one check this?
Is there a flash counter on the Honor 6 ? How does one check to see if the system has been rooted/ bl unlocked before? And, is there a reset counter for this?
Perhaps my terminology is incorrect, but I have honestly searched for this info and can't find it. Any and all help is very much appreciated.
If you did no changes to the build.prop, it should be untouched. Root is normally no problem for updates nor an unlocked bootloader.
Well, after much gnashing of teeth, I have managed to update from B611 to B310. Effortlessly and painlessly.
It would seem that although I had HiSuite2.3.35, mine didn't have an option to download and install new rom updates. I don't know why this is but the 'My Tools' tab was missing from mine.
I was searching for examples of rooting and unlocking and a visual guide as to how to flash new rom, when fell across a Russian ytvid which linked to a copy HiSuite v2.3.15, seeing I didn't have that much to lose I loaded and well, voilà, I gained the My Tools tab and I updated to B310 without any hassles at all.
However, I did make a mistake. I factory reset phone (don't ask  ), so now I have all the Chinese apps most of which are system apps.
Is there a list as to which of these apps are safe to remove?
Hi guys
I am sorry that my post is maybe very short but the original one was messed up by the system
So now I try it again and with a short version...
At first:
Thanks for help (a "flashing triple-noob") on xda . I found so many informations (also before with other problems) and this was way beyond "help"-all of you get a great "thumbs up"!
And so far-the only experience in flashing was on my Xperia Z1 (de-brand) and it was quite easy but now it seems....uhmmmm....
So now go to my questions:
(hint: I want to use the stock FW no custom)
1.)
Anybody know the differences between the firmware version (no, I dont mean fingerprint ) of "Customized Hong Kong" and "CE1" for XZP Premium G8142?
Depends on the answer of this question maybe the next two dont need an answer
2.)
Question for newflasher:
I found and read many informations about flashing the FW but I getting more confused with more information!?
If I use newflasher the normal guide for that was veryyyy easy. And also at the moment newflasher is the only application for the XZ so > no other choice
But on the other side some user mentioned the following things:
-newflasher doesnt do a "full flash", something/files will be incomplete (means what? somebody have issues after flash?)
-delete parts of the files (like "things dont need" or "the partion folder")
-create partition folder (?)
So what is right and what is wrong?
Do I need to follow the easy tutorial or do I need to customize depends what happens during the flash?
3.)
Question for flashtool:
I know that currently flashtool doesnt support the XZP (still right?) even if its mentioned under "supported devices".
Also found (the generally) information that it isnt necessary to unlock the bootloader for flash a stock rom.
Now in flashtool description everybody can read: "...can only be used by Xperia™ devices having an unlocked boot loader..."???
But for unlock it needs to save the DRM keys before...and for this needs root.
But for root it needs to unlock the BL before...and this will erase the DRM keys before can save them.
So even if flashtool works on XZP the keys will be always lost?
Uhmm what I get wrong?
So thats my questions and I hope I can get some answers.
Because for the decision about the next device the XZP always comes back after compare with others (even it has a hybrid sim tray).
Thanks for help
Launch Flashtool/XperiFirm and download the fw you want. Either Nougat or Oreo.
Go into the fw folder, copy all the newflasher files and simply drop them into the fw folder, connect your phone in flashmode and doubleclick newflasher.exe
Wait until it has completed flashing and that's it!
IF you want to upgrade your fw later on without losing data, then you would have to delete some files yes, but for now just let everything be.

No you use newflasher, Flashtool doesn't work with XZP.
So with newflasher you are meant to extract the partition.zip and put the contents in a partition folder in the same directory as the other files downloaded through XperiFirm right? If that's the case then how did I manage to update from Nougat to Oreo when I deleted the partition.zip file without extracting it and flashed the update?
Well although I planned to unlock bootloader after a few months I decided to grab the opportunity when unlock page started working and with the ultimatum by Huawei about providing unlock codes, but ever since I unlocked and fixed multiple boot loops I noticed few apps and features are now missing such as
HiFi Huawei sounds in Settings is gone
Unable to change or apply themes
smart remote Control is now gone,
Phone no longer stay awake while looking at it
There might be more stuff missing which I haven't noticed
I mean it feels absurd I just unlocked bootloader why are these stuffs missing this makes no sense to me, all I did is installed twrp, installed magisk no modules nothing, in fact, my favorite mods are giving boot loops anyway but that aside I do need the above things back please help out a friend, anyone else faced this ?
I have a theory like Miui had a "region" option and apps changes according to regions set. So does something like this happens in EMUI as well, I don't remember exactly but I believe I set region/language as the UK while completing the setup, if so how can I change it back(PS: I live in India)
or its the side effect of root perhaps?

No idea what kind of issues you had, but none of those vanished after unlocking my bootloader.
I've been able to use themes just like before, the display stays on when I look at it and those Huawei sounds in settings are still there as well. No idea about the remote since I never used it anyway.

I just realized the firmware on firmware finder seems rather incomplete, update.app is just 300 MB or so, no way it contains full system.img
so am gonna have to take twrp backup b ready for 3gb download, anything else u want other than the system?
From LOS to Stock
Thats not a problem bro, have a 50mbps 250gb monthly plan in broadband. Wanted you to know that I am coming from LOS to stock as much as I know it would require only system.img. But if you think anything else would be required, then please upload that too, as I have only the stock recovery and nothing else.

U need to place them directly in /system/app
Or /data/apps and give permission rw-r--r--
Or try signing the apk it should work I guess if libs are not there

Take your own backup first... Try installing only one partition at time... To be honest this EMUI is very new to me... Dont know y they made so many different partitions
Or maybe it's a kirin's thing... I should have just gone with Op5t like rest of the world... Its just chaos and confusion here
