VoLTE on SM-G930F - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi there !
Here is the thing : my wife got a S7 from Amazon Italy.
CSC used is : G930FITV3ERKF
Phone state : Full stock Oreo, no root, no custom recovery, nothing changed.
Is there a way to enable VoLTE/VoWIFI on this ? Ideally without rooting or needing to wipe.

No one ?

The issue is not the CSC *version*, but rather the 3-letter CSC code. You must install a ROM (using Odin) with the CSC code that is used by your carrier (who must support VoLTE, of course).
If your carrier doesn't support VoLTE, there is nothing you can do. If you aren't using a carrier-compatible ROM, VoLTE won't work even if the carrier supports VoLTE.

If you flash with "CSC", it will wipe all data; if you flash with "Home_CSC", it won't.
If you are changing the CSC of your phone (a process you should research before flashing anything), you will likely need to wipe all data.

Hum, OK. Still better no need to wipe, but not a big deal though. Thanks dude !

If you want to root, you may be able to avoid wiping data by using the Alexndr ROM (which is, for the most part, a stripped version of a stock ROM). See https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/rom-dqd2-devbase-v4-1-multi-csc-safe-t3592914 The installation process allows you to specify the CSC, but I can't give you the nuances of doing that as I have never done it.
Note that if you root, it is my understanding that you won't be able to use Samsung Pay (ever; once the switch is tripped, you can't go back). You can, of course, reinstall purely stock ROMs (w/o root), but Samsung Pay will never work. This isn't important to me; it may be to you.

Samsung Pay isn't important to me, same as knox. Alexndr ROM seems good, will give it a look.

[STOCK][LATEST] OFFICIAL SM-G935U's G935UUEU4APL4 Firmware for the T-Mobile Variant

Hi there XDA,
First of all, I don't claim to be a developer nor I am here to plagiarize/steal/uncredit those developers and providers.
Therefore, this post is to provide you with the latest UNLOCKED SM-G935U Stock Firmware for
users running the T-MOBILE variant (SM-G935T)
There were many comments on threads as to when the firmware would update, and finally is here!
Note: I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THIS, I DID NOT CREATE THIS OR STOLE FROM ANYBODY. THE INFORMATION PROVIDED LINKS DIRECTLY TO SAMSUNG's OFFICIAL FIRMWARE WEBSITE "SAMMOBILE".
Note to the Community: This latest version is confirmed to have ISSUES with ROOT. After successful root and/or XPOSED, Wi-Fi connection, overall lag, and heating issues are present. So it is up to you if you decide to root or not.
Note to Admin/Moderators: IF YOU FEEL THIS THREAD IS NOT APPROPIATE OR IF YOU WANT TO ELIMINATE THIS THREAD, FEEL FREE TO DO IT. My intention is just to provide the community with this update for the SM-G935U (T-MOBILE) Firmware as quick as possible for those in need and for those pioneering fellas.
As soon as I am done setting up, I will surely provide you with any insight/features added to this update.
Happy developing...
RECENT UPDATES ON ROOT PERFORMANCE/STABILITY [Jan.30.2017]: This 4APL4 Variant INDEED works with the root method by @Mastajeff, I can't find any issues at all. I personally believe that this Firmware version without root works even better for whatever your needs.
*** BASED ON PERSONAL USE AND RECENT DOWNGRADE TO STOCK G935U###4API3, I ENDED UP HAVING BETTER PERFORMANCE, BATTERY LIFE, AND STABILITY WITHOUT ROOT. I JUST WENT ON TO DISABLE COUPLE SYSTEM APPS WITH EZ DISABLER. I NOTICED BETTER RESULTS, PERFORMANCE, AND STABILITY USING ROOT ON THE PREVIOUS #4API3 FIRMWARE VERSION. (THIS IS JUST MY OPINION BASED ON RECENT UPDATE I DID, BUT IT IS ALWAYS YOUR CHOICE TO WORK ON)

Thanks,
Hello my friend, of course you can upgrade without losing data.
But I have a quick note for you, if you have a micro sd card will make everything better.
But if you don't, just upgrade using latest Odin version v3.12 by flashing THE BL, AP, CP......AND MOST IMPORTANT THE CSC FILE....Don't flash the HOME_CSC. You won't lose anything at all my friend.

Can anyone who's flashed this confirm if the modem works with band 12, or if we still need to use the TMO apk3 modem?

As a matter of fact, T-Mobile's SM-G935T also released an APL4 Firmware update.
So we are better off flashing the latest CP File from SM-G935T into the G935U APL4 Firmware.

Hello there pal,
I've sucessfully flashed this update and the VERY FIRST THING I NOTICED is a SMOOTHER UI. During the setup I noticed an increase in speed and touch response.
Samsung Pay comes in by default and it can't be disabled by default. Other than that, the ONLY down I noticed....AND I MIGHT BE WRONG GUYS BUT....I am actually surprised to notice significant battery drain
Have you personally went on to flash this update??

Perhaps quarkw something was not or was checked that caused the pit to partition your puppy with Odin. When you flash via Odin from one one rom to another there is always a chance of losing data.
Once you wipe cache in the recovery step (if you did this step) there were some other options that may have wipe the phone or your MicroSD card.
The files may actually be present and you may have lost root, if you had it. There are so many variables that could have happened.
It sucks to loose data, it does.
But look at it as a learning experience and make the time to perform the following steps next time.
If I were you, get root then get TI backup over at google play (get the paid version) to backup everything to your MicroSD that way you can always flash without losing data.
TIP: save your present contacts with their phone numbers, email address & address to Google Contacts, so whenever you flash and format, your contacts will be there automatically with you once you sign into your Google Account.
Perhaps I may write a tutorial on how to flash / backup rom & data APKs and such. It took me a while to learn the ropes too.
I'm pretty sure you flash the HOME CSC file if you DON'T want to lose all your data, thats what I've read else where here on xda

Yes if you were using the G935T CP modem you do have to flash the API3 modem in the CP section of Odin to get the OTA update for APL4. I didn't lose any data doing this.
Also I could have sworn I could still use Wifi Calling on the API3 firmware. But I definitely can't on APL4. Can anyone confirm if you do have wifi calling with the API3 firmware with the US unlocked modem or API3 firmware with the T-Mobile APK1 CP modem?

VoLTE in Vodafone UK network not working

Dear Folks,
I have one European S7 SM-G930F. I am in UK and VoLTE is not working with Vodafone. I think it has to do something with the fact that I flashed the Indian ROM in this phone, as VoLTE was not working when I was in India. Now that I am back in UK, I want to enable VoLTE.
I have few questions, need help guys :
1) Can I do this without erasing data?
2) If I only flash the HOME_CSC will it work? Link:https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930F/VOD/download/G930FXXU2ERG2/229367/

If you flash home_csc it won't wipe and should give you the functionality.
Otherwise there is a flashable CSC tool that you use with TWRP, but I dont think it has Oreo support yet.
Back to Square one
Thanks, I ended up flashing TWRP, which resulted in boot-loop as I did not wiped the data partition and somehow TWRP messed up with my current installation. With boot loop in action and no option I flashed the Vodafone UK ROM, which was a German ROM ( I Don't know why SAM MOBILE would do this) like a spy in British Army. Anyways so all that did not enable VoLTE still and Samsung Pay stopped working. After googling turned out Vodafone UK is very specific to enable VoLTE only on their supplied handsets only. After wasting lot of time, I finally decided to go back to original ROM, now it will take at least a week to set it up with all my apps. What an epic waste of time mate ! Thanks for reading if yer did

Yikes, I mentioned the TWRP method second, because it was an option, but it's not something you rush into. Always backup first, always read the full instructions.
TWRP trips Knox, which Samsung Pay uses, so you won't be able to use it again.

Note 20 ultra d/S firmware

I don't find note 20 ultra Dual sim firmware. Does the N986b/ds use same firmware as the N986b without loosing dual sim function? Reason I'm thinking on flashing is cause I have a xfa version and network reception is really bad and thinking on flashing btu. Do u guys think that a new firmware might help? (all other devices I get 3 bar at home and with note 20 ultra sometimes I have no network)
Check here for your required FW.
N986B is the Global Exynos model (it is Dual-SIM = DS); in case if any regions are single-SIM for this particular model (I'm not aware as such), the N986B FW will still be the same as for DS.

It's possible I think.
But..... only try other Exynos region FW (cannot flash FW for SnapDragon variants on N986B without running into problems).
Check on Note 20 threads regarding properly changing CSC.
Also, there are some .xml modification solutions that enable you to activate extra 4g/5g bands - worth a search & try.
(Sorry I don't have the links to hand, but recall seeing these discussions before on N20 XDA forums).
I'm with Three UK does this help

When you un-compress the firmware download you will get five files. Each go into a specific part of ODIN - can't mistake it - but if you want to keep data intact you will need to flash Home_CSC. This will NOT change your regional CSC however.
You also need the "hacked" version of ODIN found on this forum easily.

If I flash that 5 files will I still be able to get Ota?
When I flash should I use CSC or HOME CSC. So that I keep getting updates? I think that if I flash UK international firmware, will sort alot of my issues. It feels in my country software is never very stable.

Will both ways I still get Ota even if I install btu firmware? (is there any benefit on me flashing the csc and not Home_CSC?)
Once bootloader unlocked I don't think you can get OTA - You'll need to flash FW updates manually.
Flash CSC for clean install.
Flash HOME_CSC if just updating FW & need to preserve user data.

If I flash my phone with the stock rom from a carrier rom, will it delete my data

I will backup but I still want to know if it will be erased. I will use odin for it.
Not if you select the Home_CSC file. If you select the other CSC file. Then yes, you will wipe all your data from your device.
But I recommend that you use the other CSC file and wipe your data from your device and start again. As installing a stock OS from a carrier will contain different apps and device settings. Which may corrupt your device anyway
Ok, also if i change the firmware, will i still be able to use samsung knox apps like samsung pay and secure folder.

Yes. Provided that you are not planning to root your device. All Samsung Knox apps should work just fine.
However if your device is from another region for example EU and you plan to install a US Stock carrier OS onto it. Then it will not work. As the EU version of the Note 20 Ultra runs on different hardware from the US variant

Question Verizon help unlocked s22 ultra

I have an unlocked S22 Ultra and Verizon as my phone provider. Is there any way that I can get the Verizon features like video calling? I contacted Verizon and Samsung and they are giving me the runaround. I saw that there was a way for t-mobile, but I want Verizon. I like the native calling because I can take it off of speak, I cannot do that with Duo. Thank you so much in advance.
If it matters to you that much you can always flash the U carrier-branded firmware. But then (it's highly recommend) that you clean flash and lose data. You're not going to get VZ video calling on U1
Will I be able to use Verizon Other apps properly?

Ok before you jump in, read the posts carefully. I guess you have a U1 (us unlocked) and want to switch to U (us carrier branded).
Make sure you are selecting the proper section U vs U1. Then choose the proper firmware you wish to flash. Keep in mind the following:
1. There are multiple files because there have been updates so make sure you pick the newest one.
2. Use Odin 3.13 patched
3. Read and ask question on that thread if needed, and you will get help..
BACK UP EVERYTHING as you will wipe clean your device.
Boot the device with verizon sim once completed.

You are correct on what I am trying to do.
I downloaded Odin 3.13 patched and Samsung Phone Firmware. I am confused about the BL, AP, Cp, CSC, and USERDATA information.
Read the post carefully... it explains what you have to put...
basically, you unzip the firmware file and you need to load the files in Odin. (BL/AP/CP/CSC) keep in mind that there are 2 CSC files, one that is just CSC and another HOME_CSC flashing one or the other is the difference between a clean flash (with full wipe) or a dirty wipe (no user data deleted). Please READ the thread I pointed you to to be clear on what you are doing. If you are confused about the files you need to read some more.
I highly recommend NOT converting to Verizon's software. Having started out with the Verizon version, there was a ton of bloatware, some of which that could not be removed. Samsung's completely free SmartCall filtering was also removed for Verizon's "free" Call Filter app which requires a paid subscription for full functionality.
The U1 firmware can do everything the U firmware can do except native Verizon to Verizon video calls. Even then, some would argue that Google Duo is a better option as it works to iPhones and non Verizon subscribers.

My family has Verizon. I can use Duo but Duo also uses speakerphone. When my son is asleep using the native calling is beneficial for me because I can take the speakerphone off.

CSC will wipe all data, HOME CSC will NOT wipe data.
You should also be able to remove all Verizon bloatware through abd commands or using the universal android debloater.
