USB logging on Rooted Pie? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi folks,
I'd like to log USB traffic on Android Pie, similarly to the way WireShark does it on a PC.
I have a Jaguar XF with an InControl Touch Pro ICE system. One can download an app called InControl Apps, which enables a select few Android apps to present themselves on the car's touchscreen as well as responding to touch events, when the phone is connected via USB. The system is actually called Bosch MySpin, although the MySpin app won't work with Jaguar cars. Unfortunately when I submit my details on the MySpin developer programme website, it crashes. I know they got my information, because one of their developers looked me up on LinkedIn, but they've been totally silent. I can understand if they've effectively closed the doors with Jaguar switching to Android Auto for this year's models, but it would still be cool if I can work out the protocol and publish it for others to tinker with too.
Cheers

Hi, I love the idea of this program. I got it to work fine with the WinMo start screen. But can't seem to get FpseCE to work with it. Using the same two phones (kaiser+HD2) am I missing something?
Tried assigning the hardware keys for use with FpseCE but with no luck, then resorted to pressing randomly with less luck. It's connected fine, thought I might have something set up wrong with FpseCE. Any help I'd appreciate, thanks.
Try to type in a text editor. If that works, which fpsece version do you have? I use the supporter.
To asign the keys in fpsece open the controller.screen and tap/double tap on the button you want to set (Do not press on the number!) Then ibstead of the numver on top of the button should get '--'. Then press your button on tge Kaiser and it should change to a number, thats it.
I've tried all that, I use the latest supporter version with Simon Mallions theme. Perhaps changing the theme back to default will help, i've tried everything else. Works fine with writing sms and word mobile, just fpsece not registering any key presses. Thanks for the reply, I'll try it again with the default skin.
I am currently reworking it. With a udp support, plugins etc.
UDP will allow to use it with your computer without bluetooth or use it over wifi if you phones do not have bluetooth.
I am currently fighting agains problems with bluetooth streams that may delay the Video Streaming of the other device

Hi SciLor,
congratulations for all your projects. They are really interesting starting from FuelBlaster to WinMoBlue. You are an "insane" genius!!
I have tried WinMoBlue on my Blackstone (controlled) and my PC (Windows Server 2003 sp2 bla bla bla .NET Framework 3.5 SP3) but doesn't run....
In this case running the PC part doesn't start nothing. In the event viewer this error: Generate Activation Context non riuscito per C:\Programmi\SciLor\SciLor's WiMoBlue Server Desktop\32feetWidcomm.dll
The server part on Blackstone starts but naturally doesn't find nothing to connect...
In reverse mode (PC controlled - HD controller) there is no way to take control too. In this case it the PC returns error about bluestack not supported.
As Bluetooth device i use a CONITECH DAKOTA Bluetooth 2.0 EDR USB Dongle Class1 based on Broadcom Widcomm driver v5.1.0.1700
Hope this can help you for future development. Keep it updated: it has many prosepctives!!!
NiceOne
Nice to know that you like my projects
I think the bluetooth driver I use does not support your dongle .
In the next version (which is under heaving developement and may come in the next weeks) I will additional support wifi, so you may try it over wifi l8er. The best thing will be, plugin support, not only keyboard input, but also mouse input. AND a video stream from the other device .
GREAT SciLor: YOU ARE GREAT!!!
I've subsribed this thread and so surely I'll test your next releases.. ;-)
NiceOne and Regards!
Any possibility of having it so you press a touchscreen button on the phone and it corresponds to a button press on the other device.
Example:
Phone has a picture of a NES Controller on it. Tapping the A button on the screen presses A on the controlled device, thus allowing it to emulate various gamepads.
I am currently recoding WiMoBlue to a Remote Controlling Software with Plugins.
Adding such an plugin will be very easy I will try to add it!
its an improvement for the touchscreen games. i'd love someone to connect a joystick or a bt keyboard
This sounds awesome, ill keep an eye on this, wifi will make it even better
It works!
Hi Scilor, I have tested it with sucess, but with a few small problems, some that I will report after more tests, and some are in the end of the reply. thank you to keep working on this project.
I've controlled my HD2 with a smartphone, the HTC S711 AKA VOX (winmo 6.1) and it works well with FpseCE, but unfortunately not yet writing messages.
Small problems:
1- Some hardware keys still works in the smartphone after connected and not in the HD2, wich was annoying becouse sometimes I've unintentionally closed the program in the smartphone.
2- the "Fn" key doesn't work.
Thank you and sorry if I wrote something wrong.

[APP]Pixie Network Monitor (Wireshark/Kismet for Android)

So... I'm rather new here and I'm not 100% sure that this is the correct forum to post this in (since I know it says "xda developed apps/games only"). However, I have seen commercial Android apps discussed here before... so... *shrug*.
Let me first say that I am not the developer... I just think this app should get some attention.
Pixie Network Monitor by 9bitlabs (would post a link but my account is restricted. ;-) )
It is a network monitoring app similar to Wireshark, but for Android. It is $4.99 on the Android market, it requires root, and it does not work on all phones (since not all phones can have their wifi put into promiscuous mode). There is a companion app called "Pixie Probe" available on the market for free. Pixie Probe will determine whether or not your phone is compatible with Pixie.
I have tested it out on my Evo (running CM6.1 RC1) and it seems to work amazingly well.
Pixie does not contain all of the features of Wireshark/Kismet. This is from the Pixie FAQ:
Q: What's the difference between Pixie and a desktop tool like Kismet?
A: The biggest difference between the tools lies in how they interface with the network. Kismet interacts directly with the wireless adapter and places it in monitor mode, allowing it to hear any packet over the wifi, even if it is not associated with a network. This can be problematic with some hardware, but many of the newer wifi chipsets work great with Kismet.
Pixie, on the other hand, is constrained by Android. Rather than expose the wifi adapter as an 802.11b device, Android actually hides all of that functionality: the wifi connection actually appears to system processes as a plain old Ethernet device. This means that we don't get monitor mode and we also don't get to see wifi-specific data, such as beacons and associate/disassociate packets.
On the plus side, Pixie runs in your pocket and that's harder to do with Kismet, unless you have very large pockets. Pixie is also significantly easier to set up for folks without Linux experience.

The Pixie website gives very detailed information about the app, so I suggest you go there if you want more info.
In any case, I hope other people find it useful.

Win 10

Hi Forum.
Not to be paranoid ,windows 10 installs a easy modem app.
Several alerts about modem
Settings on many wifi servers offer to auto configure password and modem settings on friends, phones, tabs, laptop. While in or around be sure to disable this on win 10 for your location.
This is a huge risk for security hacking. Via unknown modem activity in or around your home.
Another real concern is this that King Root apk numerous versions may be
A clandecent malware, benign at first but has shown cookie like uploads after while. Can you imagine
A phone auto connecting to
A wifi host and uploads malware hidden in the aplication software. Let's
Watch this king root mod for activity on our phones before they (hack every pc) in the us. Remember when you install software it ask if your sure..
I hope someone more pc savy. Responds to this , every where we use wifi our phone could install a or upload cookie?
Doug?????
Many users have seen modem activity and shortcuts to apps have new Locations added to programs.
Have very little idea about Windows 10. But very much interested to learn about new things.

Depstech Endoscope

I bought a endoscope to attach to my Galaxy S8+ in order to take photos in swimming pools underwater. The directions for Android use says, connect with micro USB, I purchased the IC21 model IZCB-A12. It states the endoscope only works with Android 4.4+, and the phone needs to support OTG and UVC. I am not certain this phone meets these requirements. Is anyone familiar with these types of cameras?
I think the first thing I'd check is with the manufacturer, to see if the gadget is compatible with Android 7/8.
Android 4 is a while back, and if they have not updated their software, could be a good chance it will not work.
Software 4.4+
I assumed when the manufacturer said 4.4+ OS they meant 4.4 or more/higher...I am confused.

When they put out their app, they had it designed at the 4.4+ level (minimum), which apparently was the current OS, or they had it back compatible. Unless you can find that it is, for certain, compatible with (even) the most recent Android OS's, 7 and or 8, you might be surprised that it is not compatible. A fair of number of apps, particularly those that need access to Android root file systems, have had to update as there have been a number of security and other internal updates since 4.4. Some authors just don't care after so long, and have not or will not update.
Write the author or check the publish date/date app might have been finalized/version date if you can get into the app running file contents/properties.
I'd hit up the author first. May save you some time.
If that's GTG, then I'd think it's likely a cable issue/bad unit.
Maybe hunt around for another, older device, meeting 4.4 or close, you can test on.
Software 4.4+
Thank you! I will see if I can contact the manufacturer. I tried to follow a link through their app on my phone and I get an error message. I also tried using another OTG app, as was recommended by someone else encountering problems...that app did not work either. They said the Depstech app worked after using another app first. I would like to get this working or find one t hat will work.

Page Turner Device

I am having issues with getting my page turner (Asmuse Cube Turner) to work with on my Fire HD 10 (2021).
It pairs ok to the device, but the two buttons for mainly page forward and backwards are not forwarding any response to the software.
The software I am using is from Planning Center called Music Stand. This same device works great on my iPad mini, it is just too small to see sheet music with.
There seems to be variations of this same page turner box on Amazon and was able to install an app called CubeSuite that detects the page turner.
It then allows me to try different configurations: like Touch Screen Andriod, Keyboard A, B, multimedia keyboard and custom control by MIDI Channel. None of these work either. Seems like my tablet is not allowing the input to be received. The Cube Turner is said to work on regular Android devices.
Has anyone had success with any this or any other Page Turners out there??
Your input is highly appreciated.
Thanks.
