Upgrade to Android Pie through eRecovery and the Wifi - Firmware Finder PC - Huawei P20 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Another method, working
You need it:
1. Firmware Finder: https://pro-teammt.ru/projects/hwff/v2/GetLatestVersion.action
2. Change the dns that assigns the dhcp to your router or in your computer, go below to follow how to create a wifi hotspot with the windows 10 guide
3. eRecovery method.
So let's go.
Unpack firmware finder wherever you want And run it.
You will get the following image: Figure 1
Then click on "Common base" and enter the model of the phone along with the region (in my case "CLT-L09C432") in the search box
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You will probably be offered 2 special firmware with the same labels as the menu (see picture).
To know which of these two firmware is approved for you model, first click on the 'Changelog' box below only the Changelog text (as well as blank). Then, by right-clicking the Changelog text, you select 'Copy'. Then click on the 'firmware checker' as in the picture below.
Copy the 'Changelog' link to the first field, and enter the IMEI of your phone in the second field (of course, click on "Check"). This step is for both firmware. When you get "Firmware approved for install" <- Important, if is not approved you wont update to the version youre checking.
The next step is to register the update on the Firmware Finder DNS server. We will do this in the following way. Click on 'DNS Update', paste the link that is 'approved' and click on 'Register'.
Router -> After that, by clicking on 'Copy DNS to clipboard' you will copy the dns address that you need to set up on your router in the 'DHCP' section, Go to the router settings, change the dns and apply this new settings, restart router and shutdown off the phone, wait until router is on again and working, Enter eRecovery mode (Hold Vol UP, Plug the USB cable between Phone & Computer, until you boot in eRecovery, select the option 'Download latest version, Connect to your wifi and the update will start.
WiFi HotSpot Win10 -> 'Copy DNS to clipboard' you will copy the dns address that you need to set up in the new HotSpot WiFi network adapter you created http://woshub.com/how-to-create-a-wi-fi-access-point-on-windows-10/ & How to change the DNS server in your computer https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/articles/228007207-Windows-10-Configuration Enter eRecovery mode (Hold Vol UP, Plug the USB cable between Phone & Computer, until you boot in eRecovery, select the option 'Download latest version, Connect to your wifi and the update will start.
When boot to eRecovery, connect with the new WiFi you created in Win10 (remember the name and the password of it), not your usual WiFi, and will works, i tried and its working fine.
***NOTES
### Disable IPV6 on your router or internet main network card, some users experienced issues because of it enabled.
### Doesnt works in EMUI9. So if you have Android Pie Beta this method wont works. Try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...ide-how-to-update-to-emui-9-c432-l09-t3883557 usually works. Will be erased all your personal data with this option, make a backup before.

Getting package info failed.. :/

Doesn't erecovery always wipe user data? I tried this, saw the update in erecovery mode too but didn't continue as I haven't backed up my data. Also, do I need to disable all passwords/pins etc?

No, I don't think so. I followed this procedure yesterday and no user data was deleted.

I never thought i will do so much to receive an ****ing phone update
Today, this method finally worked
I don´t know why huawei is not able to provide me to a free unlocked phone a firmware upgrade grrr.
Here are some pictures. No user Data has been deleted, everything is as before.

I will go through with the same in a few hours then. A big shout out to team-mt guys for this! They seem to be doing exactly what FunkyHuawei does but letting everyone use it for free. I'd rather donate to them than pay FH.

Has anyone tried this on the UK C782 models?

There is no reason for this not to work for C782. As long as you select the correct firmware in the Firmware Finder application based on you phone model and IMEI.

Sadly it only finds one v9 firmware which it states as follows :crying:
Firmware not approved for install

I´m sorry for you. I did´t read, what´s the problem with huawei and uk? I dont understand why you are not allowed to update

I'll try with my IMEI when I'm home from work. Got a feeling I'll get the same though. Us C782 folk are really missing out :crying:

Even, if it's not approved you could try force update in eRecovery and maybe you'll be able to install 9.0.0.159 instead. I cancelled my installation, so I don't know if it would be successful.

Still "Getting package info failed", help?
I get firmware approved message, my ip and firmware link is registered at teamMT.
Go into my router settings, DHCP server, changes both dns to 188.225.84.142.
When my phone is up and running connected to my wifi I can see it is using 188.225.84.142 as DNS.
In short, rebooting router, restarting my phone into erecovery, update via wifi, connecting to wifi OK, while searching for the update I get "Getting package info failed".

Latest FF APK - added update via eRecovery

For those of you with WiFi Routers that can not change the DNS (Unitymedia in Germany for example) or without WiFi routers (weird when you have a smartphone ): I used my laptop to setup a direct WiFi with my phone and changed the DNS of the Laptops connection with the internet (needed to turn off ipv6 as well). I then just followed the steps, inside eRecovery connected to the direct WiFi from the laptop and the phone is downloading the update package now.

Hi,
Thanks for the tutorial. I also own a G700 and with some of you help, I managed to root it, remove chinese apps and install Google Apps, thanks! :good:
But there is one problem: When I have WiFi enabled and for some reason my Wifi disconnects (for example I go out of reach), my phone keeps asking me, each and every time, if it's allowed to use Mobile Data. It says:
Data connection change
WLAN is unavailable, try to connect to mobile network?
Do you also get this message? If so, how to disable it?
Thanks

Ok, Thanks. Do you have a solution?
If not, do you speak Russian? Can you ask at 4PDA.ru?
It seems that this behavior is present in all recent Chinese ROMs from Huawei and there is no way to disable it. However, I found a workaround for it; The message only popsup if you have WiFi and Data Enabled and you lose WiFi connectivity. Then your phone will ask if it's allowed to switch from WiFi to Data. So, if you make sure WiFi is disabled before switching to Data, it will not ask this question. To do so manually, takes a lot of time. Luckily there is an app that can automate this task for you. Here's how:
Install the app 'Llama' from the Market (Free) and create these two events:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The 1 second delay is necessary, else it does not work properly.
What it does: Switch off WiFi as soon WiFi disconnects from your WiFi network and then enables Data. This way, it does not show the popup and 'automatically' switch to Data. Don't forget to manually enable WiFi again if you are in reach again of your WiFi network.
If you want Llama to automatically turn back WiFi on as soon you get home/in reach of your WiFi, you have to let it learn your location. Read the help/documentention on how to do so. It's pretty easy to do
This 'fix' works for me 9 out 10 times. Give it a try, I hope it helps you.
Kind regards.
Can somebody post link for stock recovery for G700? ON 4pda is is there but I cannot register there due to security code check, which has russian letters...
regards

[Guide] [How To] Downgrade I9505 4.4.2 to 4.3.1

:laugh:Hello guys,
This is my first tutorial on the XDA-developers forum, in order to improve myself and be more efficient, do not hesitate to comment, or ask questions, I will be more then happy to answer since I have spent so much time on this, using two different I9505, mine and my boss's. So without further ado, let's get started
Here is a full guide on how to downgrade your I9505 from 4.4.2 to 4.3. KNOX WILL TRIGGER, there are other tutorials that show how to downgrade 4.4.2 to 4.3 without triggering the knox, I will explain some of them, but they are not 100% successful.
Do it on your own risk, neither me nor XDA-developers will be responsible if you brick or damage your phone.Nevertheless, if you follow those exact steps, you won't have any problem (you may actually have some, but we can solve them together).
Requirements:
Samsung galaxy S4 I9505
Rooted phone
CWM or any custom Recovery
CyanogenMod 10.2.1 [click here] (jellybean 4.3.1) or any other custom with its proper kernel
Google apps jellybean [here]
(May need) Modem FNC4 or any above FNB8 [here]
(May need) Pit File to resolve some problems [here]
[KNOX 0x1 (triggered) WORKS 100%]
[Step 1: Optional, only if you can root your phone]
Before we start, I advice you backup your phone, save your EFS folder which contains your IMEI and other "sensitive information" related to your phone:
To do that, first you need to root your phone, then use a file explorer such as "ES FILE EXPLORER".
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Go to your explorer and turn on "root explorer".
Once you have done that, go to your root folder.
Copy the folder called EFS to your SD Card.
(Optional)Make another copy on your HDD or file-hosting provider.
[Step 2: Installing the rom]
Copy your CyanogenMod or any other 4.3 custom fw + Google apps into your sdcard
Shutdown your phone
Press and hold down volume up, home button and power button to start in recovery mode (for about 5secondes)
Wipe data/cache (if you have philztouch, chose that you will install a new rom) and press YES
Advanced -> Wipe dalvik cache YES
Install zip from sdcard -> chose cyanogenmod zip file -> YES
Install zip from sdcard -> chose gapps zip file -> YES
Reboot your computer.
[Step 3: Resolving some problems]
If the phone application crashes whenever you try to make a phone-call, then you should flash your modem.
1.Shutdown you phone.
2.Press and hold down volume down, home button and power button to start in download mode until you see the confirmation, then press up to continue
3.Plug your micro usb cable into your phone, go to odin
4.Select modem (or CP for odin 3.09) and select the modem file
5.Uncheck Autoreboot
6.Click Start
7.Once done, unplug your cable, take off the battery, put it back, redo steps 2 to 4
8.Check this time Autoreboot and Start the process
If you flash your phone and you don't have the sound, then I advice you go back to 4.4.2, and follow this guide from the beginning
[KNOX 0x0 (not triggered) WIFI OFF]
I do see the point to go back to 4.3 (a lot of applications don't work properly on Kitkat + better performances for the S4 on Jellybean), however, I don't know if someone can use his phone without the wifi. Anyway, if you want you can try this method, for simply go back to 4.3, use saferoot and install mobile odin to go to 4.4.2 rooted, without triggering the knox (be aware that there is a simple method which roots the 4.4.2 but this doesn't work on newer 4.4.2).
I remind you that KNOX triggers only if you use a custom rom or modified kernel, in that case Knox turns to 0x1, and this cannot be undone.
Instead of writing my method, I find out two threads on xda.
First one, you cannot make phonecalls unless you flash the modem, and then you won't have the wifi anymore.[here]
Second, not tested yet, but it is promising, you can find out [here]
That's it guys, hope this will help you find your happiness.

My phone seems to be region locked, btu. I had an unlocking pin code to use another sim. But, when I am using the phone in India, It doesn't asks the pin but I get No SIM, I can see the signals on the statusbar & in about/status. It is not able to resolve the network. The /system/csc/customer.xml file states the mmc 404 as network blocked. The changing of network bands is also not possible. It is set by default at lte/wcdma/gsm.
I tried downgrading to 4.3 but got the phone in emergency mode, probably due to the locked bootloader. The Service Mode by *#0011# doesn't moves after the initial page.
How do I get through this mess? Kindly help in solving the issue.

Mmm I am afraid your phone is region locked, in this case it is very difficult to resolve the issue, for example if you are in Turkey your phone must be registered through a service, or purchased locally, I don't know maybe in India it is the same, meanwhile, try using your original sim Card, if it works, try using another sim card, i have a sim card that works on my Oneplus One but doesn't on the S4, it is crazy but what can we do. Finally, (before selling or throwing out your phone) try to visit this thread it might be helpful to follow those steps, visit all the links there, each one propose a solution. Hope you will find your happiness.

[GUIDE] Force update using Firmware finder and modded Hisuite

Tested by me by updating from .286 to .311 because I didn;t have the patience to wait for OTA. No data loss(unless you decide to do Factory reset afterwards). Newer versions than .311 might have some certification issues with Google play, but .311 works perfectly for me, so I recommend it.
Here it goes, credits go to @gmanrainy

LE. OTA still works after that.
Successful update to 9.1.0.311!!
Tnx.

Do I have to have an unlocked bootloader to update the firmware using this method ?
Nope
Updated to .328 (CLT-L29 C432). Everything works without issue...
I was on 9.0.0.195 with no further update. I have registered update .311 with FF and don't know why HiSuite dowloaded and installed 9.0.0.286. Now doesn't matter which FW I register with FF HiSuite says phone is up to date. I reinstalled HiSuite, replaced files and still "up to date". I tried eRecovery method but it says "getting package info failed". My router's DNS is changed to 188.225.84.142 but there is still error.
Any suggestions?
Additional question: when editing windows hosts file do I have to place:
"188.225.84.142 query.hicloud.com"
or
"# 188.225.84.142 query.hicloud.com" ?
I think # disables the line in Hosts. Where did you see a #in the instructions? Looks to me you didn't follow them correctly. They seem pretty straight forward to me

Sounds like you did something wrong. Did you visit http://query.hicloud.com/checkConnect.action after the DNS change to verify you were connected to Team MT server?
Yes, indeed I had visited Team MT site and here are weird conclusions: on mobile which is connected to wifi with changed DNS it says error, but when trying using computer it show positive result. Today I tried again method with hisuite without changing anything and it worked! I have updated to .311 without problem but I didn't change anything. Weird but problem solved
I tried several firmwares from FF, every download is, by the way, very very slow. And when it is downloaded, every time there is "no internet connection, check your network settings. Aarrh
When i visit http://query.hicloud.com/checkConnect.action, then i am connected.
I have a p20 pro L29 C432
Any ideas
There's no downloading using FF in this guide. You just use it to approve a firmware and download and install it using Hisuite.
Just follow the instructions. It's easy.
OTA appeared for me yesterday and updated to 328 btw, so OTA's not broken.
I don't download from FF. I download from patched HiSuite and I never said that the OTA's are broken. The downloads from HiSuite are very slow.
Indeed it's very easy only after all downloads HiSuite tells me that i have no internet connection but i have a connection
Maybe this is helpful

I uninstalled magiskmanager and did this https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...recovery-updates-lastest-version-ota-t3967571
Then i get all the updates on the phone. I'm now on 328. Without issues
Now i need to root again
I cant update from 328 to 341 using this method, i was able to do 311 to 328, but now i register the update, hisuite download and appearly install it, but sais, verifiying update... installing 5% and stops there, and reboot in loop until i unplugg the usb cable, anyone more?

Because. 341 is still not approved to install from Huawei, as soon as it gets the approval, it can be installed.
Yes it's approved ?

Have a little patience maybe. Nobody has received it or managed to install it, there are no reports here in XDA. Maybe it's not really compatible with your version. There usually are many files for a certain firmware, there are only 2 for 341, small OTA and full OTA.

Just tried it now and had no problems. Safetynet Test fails though, so if that's important to you may be best to stay on .328
Last update with safetynet working is 345 release, available on FF

[GUIDE] Huawei Firmware Upgrades Manually from 8.1 to 9.1

This was done on the Huawei P20 Pro L29C636 variant.
My phone does have it's bootloader unlocked and has been previously rooted.
As stated on just about every other thread, I do not take responsibility for anything that happens to your phone. The method described below is what I experienced with my phone, with the various modifications I had made in the past, and using software other people have developed.
You assume all risk to your equipment.
OTA updates stopped on EMUI 8.0 so I had to find a solution to get the latest EMUI and security patches. Below is the list of software and instructions that I followed to complete these incremental updates. If you own a different regional variant (i.e. L29C432), you can still follow the same instructions, but pay attention to your build numbers when trying to upgrade past 8.1. When jumping from 8.1 to 9.0 and 9.0 to 9.1 you MUST upgrade to the firmware approved for your particular phone variant prior to the new EMUI update. There is a chance you will soft brick your phone, but as long as fastboot still works, you can recover.
Step 1:
Download these two files.
HiSuite_9.0.2.304.zip
hisuite.zip
Install the HiSuite application, do not upgrade the application, and close the program.
Copy the httpcomponent.dll file to C:\Program Files (x86)\HiSuite
Copy the HiSuiteConfig.xml to C:\Users\*username here*\AppData\Local\HiSuite\UserData\UpdateDogDev
Step 2:
Open your system host file at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Add these lines to the bottom of the file:
188.225.84.142 query.hicloud.com
Save the file... be sure it saves over the current file and not a new file with a file extension.
Step 3:
Open your Network Connections window in Control Panel here:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Right click on your active Network Connection and go to Properties.
In the dialog box, click on Internet Protocol Version 4 and click the Properties button below the box.
In the dialog box, change your DNS Preferred to 188.225.84.142 and DNS Alternate to 1.2.3.4.
Click the box for Validate Settings Upon Exit just to make sure you do not have any network errors.
Step 4:
Download and open Firmware Finder on your phone here Firmware Finder
Open the program, check the top button is the model variant of your phone, and click the top button.
The list of firmware shown in this program will work for your phone. To be safe, select the firmware you want to upgrade to, and click Check Firmware Access then Check Availability to confirm it is approved for installation.
After you select the firmware you want to upgrade to, click on eRecovery for all versions and click through each prompt until you reach the prompt to Register Update. Click Register Update and this will register your IP address with this specific firmware. I do not know how long this stays registered for, but it will not expire for the time it takes to download and install the firmware.
Step 5:
Connect your phone to your PC with the proper cable, open HiSuite on your PC, and allow the application to install HiSuite on your phone.
Once HiSuite registers that your phone is connected click the Update button near the bottom of the screen.
A dialog box will pop up and recognize the new firmware you registered with Firmware Finder. Double check that the model and regional variant match your phone just in case you goofed up the selection.
This process does take some time since the firmware files can be upwards of 5GB. Be patient and do not interrupt the process. After it downloads, it will push the files to your phone (HiSuite calls is Installation), and then your phone will restart. After your phone restarts, you will get an EMUI update screen indicating that it is indeed updating your system. Once complete, the phone will restart, and you will have an shiny new upgraded phone.
I have read plenty of responses in other threads describing installation failures, stalled installations, or other negative outcomes. Here are a few tips:
RE: Soft Brick - Remember to factory reset/wipe data in eRecovery. This will not wipe your phone, but it will help you get back to some sort of recovery state whether it's eRecovery, TWRP, or back to the system.
RE: Failed Installations - Remember to check the firmware availability in Firmware Finder on your phone and not on the PC. This will avoid accidentally trying to install firmware meant for another variant.
RE: Stalled Installations - I prefer modifying the DNS settings on the computer that is connected to the phone using HiSuite. This avoids DNS settings that don't stick in router settings or a PC bypassing them altogether.
If you do soft brick, you can always HiSuite to recover and rollback the firmware on your phone. I also do have another technique in case HiSuite cannot recover your phone. Just to be clear that this other technique was only tested on the L29C636 variant, but it most likely will work on other global models.

Huawei Firm Finder / Huawei Firm Archive ( 2021 Edition )

Introduction
It's not a tool but rather an online website, unfortunately recently FirmFinder has gone out of business with Huawei's new changes, so I grabbed a cheap VPS and got a website up with archives of old / new firmwares.
Features
Support for Phone Model Based Search
Support for CXXX Value Based Search
Support for Vendor Based Search
Support for Target OS buildnumber Search.
Smooth environment, where the database gets fully downloaded and cached in your hardware.

I also want to thank you for the hard work and that amazing tool! Since emui 11 not working with Hisuite 10, are you planning to upgrade the proxy tool, making it compatible with the new Hisuite version?

You sure that HiSuite 10 doesn't support emui 11? Like does it show error during installation or bugs the phone?

It is impossible to make or restore backups with Hisuite 10 on Emui 11. For upgrade, I don't know if is working or not.

Tested it right now, it is not connecting to the phone . The popup window with "enter connection code" does not appear. When I use original Hisuite exe connection is ok.

I have usb debugging enabled on my phone and it didn't worked. I will try to make more tests tomorrow
Edit: it is working, the fault was on my side. I found that usb debugging was disabled on my phone, don`t know why.
If I put the same version that I have it should force install the rom? Because it says that I am on latest version, no matter what I put into the base pkg. Tried with 10.1.0.201, with 11.0.0.138, same message.

Something must be going wrong, if you wish, click on "Debug Logging" and after it says you're currently on latest version copy the logs.txt file near HiSuite proxy and send it over in a message....
First step, red dot on update tab, as expected
Second step, after checking for update
Debug message with base pkg only

Your certificate and device id still are sensitive data, remove the file please, that's why I wanted you to send them in a message....
I really don't know what would prevent hisuite from grabbing the rom but the new version validation check, is something I've to experiment more on....

Open hisuite proxy, tick "Debug Logging", hit update in hisuite,
A file named "logs.txt" will be generated nearby hisuite proxy.exe, send it to my pv!
