Can I do with my ATT S7?

I just got an S7 today, the SM-G930A from ATT. I had an upgrade available so I went for it and got rid of my old S4 Active. From what I've read so far it doesn't look like I can root my new phone right now but I wanted to ask just to make sure I'm not missing anything. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

No you cannot root it, because it's bootloader is locked down by Samsung. Even if you tried to install twrp on it, you would just brick your device.

AT&T S6 Galaxy, no Marshmellow update available?

Hello,
My wife's phone is an AT&T branded Samsung S6 Galaxy, we're on T-Mobile.
I'm trying to get it updated to Marshmellow but it's not available when I check from OTA or when I plug the phone in USB and load Smart Switch on my PC.
Is there a way I can upgrade it to Marshmellow without rooting the phone?
Greatly appreciate it.
Can anyone help me please? I called T-Mobile & Samsung, neither could get the OTA Marshmellow update working on my wife's unlocked AT&T phone on T-mobile.
Thank you.

TWRP for SM-G935U (the unlocked S7 Edge)

I'm trying to install LineageOS on my SM-935U Unlocked S7 Edge but I can't seem to find a guide or any information on how to get TWRP on it. It seems like all guides about the 935U is how to get its firmware on some other variant of the 935, but I want the Samsung crap off my phone. The Nougat update is awful. Sorry for the digression there, but any pointers on getting something other than stock on my S7 Edge Unlocked? Thanks!
Bootloader is still locked. So we still can't install twrp

That explains it. I sure hope to get this garbage off this phone. Thanks for the reply.

S6/S7 Root clarification?

This may be a bonehead question but...
I've been reading some of the forums for a few days now and Im at my wits end with not being able to root my Verizon Galaxy S6 (SM-G920V) due to bootloader blockage. I am noticing that it is seemingly possible to root an S7 on Verizon though. How is this possible considering the same stipulations, and an S6 being the more outdated phone??
On the S6 i believe it's possible via CF-AutoRoot, however, mine (G920W8) got it's IMEI/EFS lost and corrupted by the stock recovery it flashes back so not really recommend using it.
Protip: don't get Verizon Locked devices if you are willing to Root

rooting VVRS4 ?

Hi,
I just bought a Like new S6.
I thought I was getting a factory unlocked device, but I got a Verizon unlocked phone (for other carriers) and full of bloatware from Samsung and Verizon.
I can still return it, but before doing so, I was looking for options about rooting or installing a different ROM.
it has Nougat 7.0, Firmware G920VVRS4DQI1, Kernel 3.10.61
As I understand, currently there's no way to modify anything in this model, right?
Should I return it?
Thank you for your replies
