How to root S9+ Snapdragon? - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey there.
The OEM unlock option is finally avaliable in my brazilian S9+ (SM-G950), but Im afraid to try to root it without a proper orientation since its the Snapdragon version.
Can you help me about where to find the right TWRP version and how to disable DM verify?
Thanks!

Samsung j3 2017 root

Hey I'm new to the world of rooting. Wanna do it to get past the network tethering thing. I pay for hotspot. But even planet didn't stop my 8gigs from being used up. So I've started searching for how to keep going with my hotspot.
I have no idea how to do anything past basics. So the more detailed and lamen the answers the easier.
I guess to root the Samsung j3 with nougat on it is first get past unlocking it.
Any helpful tip to get the unlock code for free?
Next is rooting it. A lot of techno babble baffled me all night long. So yeah that's what I'm trying to get help with.
Thanks for the time you guys may spend

I also have a Samsung J3 running Nougat that I would like to root. Mine is a Samsung J3 Unlocked (SM-327U) running Android 7.0 with May 1, 2017 patches. I've enabled the "OEM unlock" under Developer Options but I can't find a tutorial or TWRP image that supports this version. I want to install SuperSU but I'm stuck without TWRP support. I've already tried both OneClickRoot and Kingo, both of which state that the device is unsupported. I'm assuming that under the hood they are just scripting out the process but still using the same Odin/TWRP/etc process.
Any ideas? Is there a way to translate the changes necessary from another version of the J3 (e.g. SM-327YZ) to this firmware or are we stuck waiting for supported to be added to these (awesome) tools?
Thank you!
After unlock
After the phone is unlocked it should be easier to root it. I have a few more days in my service cycle till I reach the phone active 90 days to get the free unlock. After that I'll start trying to figure out how to flash it again
Hello,
like you'll see I'm new here. My problem is, that i can't root my european Galaxy J3 (2017).
Model-No is SM-J330F/DS.
Is it just me or is every single root-method actually a fake for this device?

My J727T is carrier unlocked because i bought it outright at full retail. I dont know how an carrier unlocked device would change anything. Our bootloader is locked which has nothing to do with being carrier unlocked...
Sorry for Hijacking Thread...
Maybe I will buy SM-J330F in Germany as it is cheap... 200 Euro...
and seems no Fingerprint Sensor. :good:
For Germany DBT I found latest Firmware:
Code:
J330FXXU1[B]AQH2[/B]
Please.
Can I root SM-J330F
If yes, how?
Maybe somebody can please give Link to Instruction...
Thanx in advance.
Best Regards
if you want to bypass the 8gb hotspot limit you have to use foxfi and enable proxy in the app. if you set it correctly on your pc or gaming console it will not use data. no root is required anymore. i downloaded a full game on my ps4 using my hotspot and it hasn't used any data except my normal data and that doesn't matter since i have unlimited lte data.

I successfully rooted my J327U witb Chainfire's CF Autoroot (the T-Mobile variant J327T) via Odin.
After Root I installed Flashfire ( also by xda-developer Chainfire). I'm still playing with the app's various features but so far it is pretty awesome definitely an app I'll be making a donation to this next paycheck) you'll be able to make a backup of your device with it. Hope this helps.

It wont work. The tmobile variant and even the metropcs variant is bootloader locked therefore you cannot flash anything. I have a metropcs variant and everyone else in another thread has also. Me and a few others have tried for months to get root and it failed miserably. I suggest buying the sm-j327u. You can get it on samsung.com
Hello guys!

Rooting shouldn't be a problem for this device
Post some specifics on what you have tried and the reason for failure.
I should be able to get something up if you post the details above and your firmware details.

https://desktop.firmware.mobi/ this should help. the firmware for the device is here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/SM-J330FN/ make sure to choose your carrier along with the correct country. the cf autoroot for the j330f is on the firmware.mobi site it should work if you use odin. if it fails to flash or something goes wrong you should have your stock firmware.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply back to you, I live right in the middle of the northbay California winecountry wildfires that devistated Santa Rosa, CA. so it's been somewhat crazy here.
The CF Autoroot that I used on my J327U is for the T-Mobile (J327T). I'm not sure if they started locking down their bootloaders, so you'll have to perform due dilligence on that end. If you do decide to give it a go, make sure you enable USB debugging and OEM unlock under developer options.

I used the same app and used proxy but just saying if you use your ps4 (setup for the proxy on pdanet or foxfi) it will only work for soo long because depending on what your doing on the internet with your ps4 it may or may not count data. I have past 8gb on my hotspot and i mostly just updated games and my ps4 system software and watched videos on youtube.
J330FN (dont know if its DS variant)
I have tried the CF-AUTOROOT website and can't for the life of me, to get it to work.
I dont want to double post, so here is my reply in the firmware.mobi thread: ==>Click here <==
If i figure it out, or someone has succesfully helped me in rooting this monster of a phone, i will post back to help others.

Question about root s8+ 2aql1

Hi i have the s8+ unlocked version and i try the root by samfail tutorial but not work and the thread is closed so i dont know if anyone know how to root s8+ xaa g955u1 bootload 2AQL1 (unlocked version) please share thanks
Snapdragon rooting is pretty standard, however I believe there is a question on a new boot loader coming out, so I'm not sure if that changes things, as one new addition is it keeps the phone region locked.
I'm Exynos. Your phone is?
does anyone have the stock boot image for s8+ 955FD
tryin to change root frm su to Magisk
I have the snapdragon but using unlocked version so the bootloader maybe different, i can use the custom rom but cant root? The custom rom have alot of extra feature that i dont like

I think you do not 'have' to use a custom ROM for Snapdragon, if you do not wish to use one. I believe you can just use the "U" version, which is Cell phone company featureless.

S7 g930A Rooting/TWRP

Hi guys, I've been doing some searching but haven't found any clear answers on recent threads.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 G930A, currently running Android 8.0, I have developer options unlocked.
I'm looking to install TWRP, update BL/Modem, install Lineage OS 15.1, update GAPPs, and root with Magisk 17.2 with the hope of debloating preinstalled apps and increasing my battery life.
I'm having trouble finding the correct versions of things for the G930A, it seems like most options are for the F/FD, I found this awesome thread for those which I assume is incompatible with my device: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/guide-onelatest-stock-fw-csc-root-t3702963
Step one is installing TWRP (right?) but on their website under S7 has options for many models, but not the 930A. Is there another option that I'm missing or am I out of luck?
Thanks!
You're out of luck, TWRP and custom ROM's are only possible on models with the Exynos SOC which is the international 930F/FD model + Canada and Korea, as they can have their bootloaders unlocked.
G930A runs on Snapdragon with a locked bootloader (thanks to US carriers), despite the developer options unlock being visible, it actually doesn't do anything on Snapdragon.

Such a feat is not possible on the snapdragon version. Yes I know, their kind of scumbags for locking the qualcomm variants and only allowing the foreign versions with their crappy exynos chipset to be unlocked. It wasn't U.S Carriers that are responsible for the device being locked. Samsung locked it themselves.
Fortunately you can still root this device however, but you just cant install custom recoverys, boot logos etc,

Samsung Galaxy J3 Orbit (SM-S367VL) Looking for advice on how to root.

I've looked for quite a while on anything that could help me root the phone, and have had no success with anything. I'm worrying at this point that the bootloader is just locked and have to ask, is there anything else I can do to root this phone? Willing to try pretty much anything, even at risk of bricking it.

I'm interested in this too but in all likelihood nobody with the knowledge is even working on it because this is a niche phone.
Locked bootloader..
Well i have this fone now...i bought it because it was a good deal so it seemed..Less than 100$ for fone and service activation plan...I have rooted just about every Samsung i have ever owned...So heres what i have come up with..There is no OEM option in Developer options...On any other samsung fone i always go right into developer options and disable OEM by turning it off...Then i either have used Kingroot apk or Kingoroot apk in the past and they have worked...sometimes u have to find the perfect version to match your android software specifically...Now i have always had huge success with Odin and flashing TWRP via Laptop or Computer via USB connection, but thats something each individual should personally take the time and educate theirselves on just in case... Sorry to say that the Samsung J3 Orbit with Total Wireless and Oreo 8.0 needs a serious look at...

Your phone is a 2018 model of the j3. When xda finally makes a J3 (2018) thread i will request for this thread to be moved. Any root methods shown in J3 (2017) are likely not to work anymore since samsung patched the methods used. The only way to root phones now is by buying the U variants of samsung's phones which are only available from samsung's website under unlocked phones. Unlocked phones from samsung have an unlocked bootloader by default.

U models are normally U.S. models which are locked tight. I run a s8 as my everyday driver which is rooted. The s9 s10 and most other us snapdragon and in this case exynos all are locked tight. And they cannot be rooted as of right now. The sampwn and other samfail do not work anymore. The U model you are referring to is the U.S. sim unlocked model not bootloader. With the S series F is the European bootloader unlocked model I don't know the European letter for J series.
Until some one finds a way to push a rooted system img on stock permissive combination kernel root will not come just like s9 and s10 us models
If these where us snapdragon we could push a rooted system combination file with safestrap just like we do on the newer bootloader on s8 using EDL and Qualcomm 9008
Just had an idea, another thread on this forum a guy says he made a modified version of Odin that can flash mix matched models. So just flash a model version of the j3 orbit that can be rooted or at least oem unlock capable to be able to flash twrp and then be able to root through twrp.
If flashing a j3 with a model number different than sm-367vl would brick it, just extract the .img partitions like boot.img or whatever the partition may be with ubuntu to restore one by one until you find which one makes the phone boot.
I don't know much about phones when it comes to this depth of modification. But I had a lg zone 3 that used this method to turn an unrootable model number version into a different model number that was rootable. Before I flashed the .img partitions of the stock software the screen had lines all over it, so using screen mirroring I was able to root the different model number software then download partition backup and restore app them restore the partitions that were for the original model number.
So basically it took both model numbers and combined some partitions of each to make it work properly.
In my head I can totally see this working. Just depends on how close to the same hardware each model number of the galaxy j3 has i guess.
I wish I would have noticed/seen this a bit sooner.. any progress or luck? I have the j337u ...
I know chimera tool is able to remove Knox kglock oemlock rmm mdm , of which mine shows kglock on, oemlock: on, frplock off. Trying to flash anything gives the error insufficient payment somethin. So there's got to be a way around it. ALSO I found interesting, the FCC id has J337t instead of U ...wonder why that is ...
(Anyone know where I can get stock j260AZ/AIO -notpaid- (cricket) firmware,I've literally checked every where )
We need someone to take that new 0day exploit rootPoC mod it however and release it
Found this [Have not tried it yet]
Came across an article on androidbiits. Not sure it's actually viable. Unfortunately I cant post the direct link until I have enough posts under my belt.
I'm willing to pitch in if someone can point me in the right direction.
Yhuda
How now????You are find How to root this phone????Please add Develop for find How to root Samsung J3 Orbit?!??
For my kglock on, oem lock on j337u, which also has some new mdm / rmm on it from consumer , I used chimera tool to set KGLock to Complete.
This also switched the oem lock to off and show the toggle in Dev ops....
1st flash of magical patched img worked. But after.connectinf.the Wi-Fi , knox enrollment and instantly a sec. Msg popped up and locked up the entire device. No usb connection or.anything.
factory reset
Same Issue,.then locks up
So for try 3, flash the patched boot, let boot.
AS SOON AS ITboots to android, hit the Airplane Mode toggle to activate it to stop Knox Enrollmnt
So er.gont get
was able to unlock the boatloader with comb file that was compatible, flashed stock track phone, updated to 9 pie...
used a gig pressed power button ???
9 pie trac phone j3 orbit
patched AP file with majisk, ran with Odin : says noway fail, I was able to reflash with stock firmware, so it doesn't work on mine...
any other luck
thanks
I would really like to know if anyone has succeeded either rooting or SIM unlocking or flashing with a different firmware on this model.
I was able to access the OEM unlock in my J3 Orbit (SM-S367VL) via factory binary after flashing combination firmware.
That is as far as Ive gotten. I am assuming you would want to run ADB download mode to flash anything as factory binary seems to have some security measures against full bootloader unlock built in
