Which Gcam version are you using for your Mi Note 3? - Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I am curious which gcam version are you using for your Mi Note 3 since I want to make sure that we are using the best version possible.
I have Global Stable 10.1.2 Rom (Nougat) and below are the only apps that are working to some extent, but share yours if you think your version is better/has more working options. Unfortunately, there are no Gcam versions with Night Sight for Nougat, but do share them with the rest of us, pointing out which android version you are using.
For Nougat:
Arnova's v8.3b1: GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1.apk---------- good for taking photos with HDR+ enhanced, NO good for video, front camera is also no good, no night sight, no slow motion. Panorama, photo sphere and Lens Blur seem to be working.
v5.3.015 v.1.0.15 final--------good only for 4K video not Full HD, No good for photos, no front camera, no night sight, no slow motion. Panorama, photo sphere and Lens Blur seem to be working.
Do share your opinion and improve the discussion. DONT ASK FOR INSTRUCTIONS! There are plenty of topics about that. Just share if you installed gcam.
Thank you

It is more about what settings do you use. GCam 5 would be perfect for me since with nexus 6p back camera is the best but selfie one is bad so when I was on MIUI I was using mostly arnova's Gcams also we have @WebDingo who made one port of GCam special for our device so you can use that one too with his settings.

I understand your point, but the thing is different versions have different options working. Here are 2 more versions that a user shared on another forum
GCam_Pixel3Mod_1.3_build.6.1.021.apk: Night mode, Photobooth, faster capture and processing time in general, slow motion not working (probably working on Oreo only)
GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1.apk: for slow motion with sound only as everything else is slower here (works on Nougat)
Also If you are on a beta with Oreo, I advise you to check the Pixel 3 mods since they have Night Sight and it is amazing (please see below)

Yeah, GCam_Pixel3Mod_1.3_build.6.1.021.apk is working on my lineageos 15.1 and if you ask me, significant improvement from stock camera and gcam pixel 2 mod. Night sight is also working. But you have to install xiaomi mi a2 camera magisk module first to use it.

I have installed the following module on my a freshly installed Lineage 15.1 build with firmware from 8.11.1:

Ok, first you have to install front camera hdr+ fix magisk module if you haven't already.
Then you have to flash the following magisk module.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JMBz_PNFwcv92RQLBQUCg_9_2XcX1Q6M/view?usp=drivesdk
Then install the mentioned gcam and enjoy.

Thanks for the feedback. It might be worth mentioning that your link doesn't seem to work, but I resolved the issue by installing the Mi A2 Magisk Module and the following camera.
MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.2_TlnNeun_Fix
Thanks for your help!

Update
So I'm using EU stable 10.2.3 Rom and these are the details for the gcams
Although I installed the fix for Front camera, I couldn't find a single camera that will have the front camera working for me!
These are not working for me at all
MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V1d_fu24-01f.apk
GCam_5.1.018.177470874.41362666_IDan_N6_4.1_fix.apk
MGC_5.2.022_1.0.apk probably working only on pie roms
Probably the best versions so far are
MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3c_fix_TlnNeun.apk
MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun.apk
Photo and slow motion don't work, but night sight and video do work. (tip: use night sight for daylight photos too)
GCam_Pixel3Mod_1.3_build.6.1.021.apk Very Fast capture and processing! Photo, video, night sight works. No Slow motion
For Slow Motion
GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1-- only for slow motion, but its relatively dark!
GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Final_fu24-17_845Colorfix.apk, photo work, video-slomo work but relatively dark,Doesn't have night sight
Do recommend other versions that you have tried.

Sorry @mwarner I didn't check the link before posting it. But link updated if anyone's interested.

Also MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.2_TlnNeun_Fix.apk this version is buggy and slow for me. Thanks anyway.

I think this works. I am on global miui 10. You have to use magisk fix for the front camera portrait. Hope it works for you. GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2.apk

Hi, did you check if there is a setting in BSG mod menu named FIX. If it exists check for Slow motion and change it to 120fps.
You can try these versions https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2a+.apk and this one https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GCam_Pixel3Mod_1.2beta_build.6.1.013.apk

quick question - is there any difference between the P20 and P20 Pro camera apps? Don't really see what they could change, so don't know if it's worth to flash on a stock P20.
This is a port from P20, not P20 Pro.
There's no reason to flash this on stock P20.
It's useful for Treble roms only.
Does Raw work for anyone with a p20 pro? I'm on lineage and it crashes the app.
Everything else works great and I finally have pro mode monochrome back and the "color" options in the normal photo/video mode.

Here you go, started recording the log right before opening the camera and eventually I switched to raw and it blacks out the viewfinder. You can still switch modes for a little bit but eventually the camera app just stops responding.

Going to take a look. Thanks for the log, it will be very helpful.
I installed it on my P10, using DotOs, and I can say that it works perfectly! :good: this is a great port, everything working, even raw and gallery.
Thank you so much for this port bro.
I can confirm that raw mode in p20 pro freezes the camera app. I'm running latest LOS.
Hey, thanks for the good work.
I'm trying it out on a P20 Pro running the Pixel Experience Treble Rom, and am I doing something wrong or does the gallery not work? it keeps saying that I need to add a gallery to the work profile or something along the lines of that

Doesn't work for me either on lineage 15.1. This is still my favorite camera app despite the gallery issue and raw not working on lineage
Since you are on pixel experience with a p20 pro, does raw work with this camera? I'm curious if it's a rom issue or app issue. Also, how's the rom? Anything not work?

Raw freezes the camera app so I guess that's a No.
I've tried Lineage 15.1 and Pixel Experience together with Havoc and the rest for the P20 Pro. Imho, Pixel Experience is my go to.
Lineage is great, but there's just that little bit of lack of responsiveness that I can feel in the UI that bugs me. Another breaker for me was not being able to use it in dual sim mode. It kept dropping my signals left and right, making it super irritating when I was travelling and using two sims at the same time.
Pixel Experience is incredibly smooth and fluid, more so than Lineage (reminds me of my U11+, albeit not quite there), though there are some bugs but not breaking.
VoLTE doesn't work, though I guess that's pretty much all AOSP ROMs, no fast charging with the Huawei Supercharger, and the signal bars are shown as half all the time for some reason, though I don't think this affected my overall usage at all.
Other than that, it's perfect.

8.1, the last time I tried 9.0 it bootlooped, not too sure why but I haven't tried 9.0 ever since.
I flashed mine using TWRP, but you could use fastboot as well if you wanted to.
Not working
I'm using pixel experience rom and it does not even open
Is it possible to make a magisk module of this port?
Any chance to run this port on miui stock roms?
The download is trashed? Was hoping this could work on the OnePlus 7 pro
Can someone Update the link please? This was the only version that worked for me.
I would also like to request a new download link. Please and thanks!
@Androlark bro can you re-upload the file, the current link is down, thank u

Pixel Camera Port?

Does anyone know of a google camera port that's working for the a7 (2018)? Thanks.
use the samsung s7 gcam port, works well with my a750f
It didn't work for me. Which version of gcam you are using?

It`s working for both front and rear cameras (with active HDR too). I have tested literally every option including video and everything works ok and save correctly.
But for some reason even if full 24MP are selected in the settings I only get 8MP pictures which is really frustrating. I`ll continue my search for better working variant.

I'm using Google Camera Idan 1109 ver. 3.2.9 previous SG7Exy_v8 (exynos).
It is important that don't use a flashlight, just turn it off and after install reboot the phone.
Only one custom camera app works. Stock and one custom that's all.
My conclusion even the phone has a 24mpx the camera works terribly.
I have xioami 4x and it bits this A7 2018 as hell in google camera photo compare.
I don't know why the 24mpx camera is so weak.
Wide camera doing a good job

Does the portrait mode works for you? For me it reboots the phone.
It`s working alright. Both for rear and for the front camera. Also with or without flash, with or without hdr. Also with burst series (taking pics as fast I can press the button).
As I said in my previous post I tested every single option to see if it`s really stable and at least for me everything works really stable.
The only problem is that it doesn`t save them as 24MP even if it is set in the options. It`s always 8MP size.
Strange. My phone reboots every time I select the portrait mode. Did you change any configs?
Nothing aside in the settings you can see in the screenshot in my earlier post.
The only thing I did may be differently before installation was to turn off the hdr in the build in camera app as per advise from somewhere. After that I went and turn it on and there were no problems at all. So now I have normally working samsung camera app and the gcam one. I can switch whatever I want in the apps and there are no problems.
I also have another camera app - CameraZoomFX (paid) with turned on Camera2 API and it also work ok with every available setting. I have even used them all at the same time to test what would happen - well nothing really. Everything works ok.
Did you enable camera2api on your phone is yes. How?
From here
Btw yesterday I have tried many other versions for exynos cpus but only GCam_5.1.018.177470874.41362666__N6_1.8.apk worked ok all around.
Most of the other apps crashed on the start or I got to the options but the apps crashed few minutes after that.
What app is this from?

I have already wrote it? Camera Zoom FX Premium https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom , but I think that the free version would also let you select this option.
Aside from gcam and camera zoom I am currently testing few other apps:
HD Camera Pro (paid)
LG camera 7.1
Camera FV-5
CameraMX
Open Camera
After more than 700 pictures taken side by side with each app I have come to the conclusion that as for sharpness, details and balanced light HD Camera Pro is the best for indoors and Camera Zoom FX for outside day and night photography.
This ordeal took me over a week to do but was worth it.
The only problems with all these apps is that none of them supports the wide camera, it`s only available in the integrated samsung camera app.
I still hope for some time in the future we will got our hands on fully functional Gcam port with wide camera support. And I think that it would beat all of the above apps. I hope it would happen sooner than later.
I think the same. I hope Samsung will fix this. Is it possible to disable bokeh effect? I hate it because details are terrible

I cant open Gcam in my A 7 2k18 what to do ? Every time i tap to camera icon it say camera keep stoping close app !
@Kalpsmart7 I somehow missed your post so I apologize for the late reply.
This is my way of fixing the problem.
Go into the apps section to the gcam app and force close it.
Then clear the cache for the app.
Then turn off HDR into the main camera app.
After that start the gcam app - it should start working normally.
Then you can go into the main camera app and turn on HDR again as it would not cause any more problems.
But as I said in my earlier posts although you can set the resolution at 24MP the end result will be in only 8MP.
I don`t know the reason for this problem but for now it`s like that. If I find other working port I`ll test it again.

GCam Lens Blur and Photo Sphere issues

Hello,
Recently received my Mix 2S and liking it a lot so far. My only issue so far is that in Google Camera from any modder on any AOSP ROM, the lens blur and photo sphere modes are bugged. They do output images, but the resultant image is far too overexposed.

Does anybody else have the same issue? Currently on AOSiP 20190915, Canting v2.4, Magisk 19.3 with the only camera related module being Luffity's ANXCam.
Other Camera apps?
Did you give a try to other camera apps such as (the free & open-source software) Open Camera (https://opencamera.sourceforge.io/)? It has recently supported panorama mode.

I did give open camera's panorama a shot as per your recommendation, but the image from that is also similarly overexposed. what's even more strange is that gcam's dedicated panorama mode (not the one in photo sphere mode) does not have such an issue. also, I'd rather have one camera app that does most things properly, rather than having a multitude of camera apps to fix what is broken on others (having anxcam do stabilised video is the only compromise I'm willing to make). furthermore, open camera doesn't have a wide angle option like on gcam.

It is true that using only one camera app is preferable, but comparison with different apps could be used to determine where the problem originates. If another app does not have the same issue, it could be a problem of the algorithm in certain apps. A sidenote: it could happen that proprietary binaries do not appear in the custom ROMs due to various reasons.

well since open camera has a similar bug I guess it's a vendor issue then. but now I am just curious as to whether other people are getting similar results as me when they use the lens blur and photo sphere modes in gcam.
update: after flashing global miui 11.0.4.0 (gcam needs google services to work apparently), issues have been resolved and now works properly on aosp roms. i think it was due to the pixel3rom i flashed prior to other aosp roms, which seems to utilise a different vendor that overwrote the stock camera lib but was subsequently not overwritten by the vendors of other aosp roms.

Hi, sorry for bumping but I'm facing the same issue for Poco F1.
Are you using Android 10 or 9? AFAIK, that fw is for 10 but I don't want to update to 10 yet. Is it compatible with 9?

at the time 11.0.4.0 was pie. not sure about pocophone. the issue was only present on certain aosp pie roms, now that I'm using 10 I've not run into this problem. perhaps u can try flashing back to stock miui and trying out a few pie roms and see which rom+vendor combo works best for u.

[HELP] GCam Camera Port For Blackview BV9800 PRO

Hello everyone,
For quite of a time I am struggling to find working GCam app that would work on non-rooted Blackview BV9800 Pro. I have tried 20+ apps but none of those worked ?
I don't know how the ports work, but maybe there is Google Cam app ported for other device that would work on my phone as well?
Or maybe developer of GCam mods could take a look into this?
I previously had Xiaomi Poco F1 and the GCam was awesome on it. Right now on BV9800 Pro I have good camera hardware, but the original app is far away in quality compared to GCam...
P.S., I will buy a beer for the guy who will make the GCam work on BV9800 Pro! ??
Hopefully someone would be interested in porting the GCam app. I'm runnung a rooted bv9800pro and one of the few cons about this device is the poor cam app packed with.
Yes, that's right. You might think Your cam is not so bad, but if You have ever had GCam, then You have no doubt about what's good and what's bad ?

By the way, You rooted with Magisk? Can You please share info how to root it?
Ok, so to root ir is easy with Magisk. It seems that GCam works only with SnapDragon (as that's what I've found on google). Tried few things, but it seems that only very old gcam app worked for me... ?
I hold fingers crossed for the GCam for Mediatek or for very best alternatives that available for it (any ideas? Is there any app even close to GCam?)

Sorry for the late response, I'm not around the forum as often... here are the steps:
Download the latest FW from Blackview's forums.
Unzip it using 7zip.
Flash the whole Firmware using FlashTools
After flashing and first successful boot, unlock bootloader from Developer menu or running the following commands in cmd...
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
Once unlocked, enable USB Debugging.
Move boot.img to your phone.
Install Magisk Manager and patch boot.img
Once the patching finishes, search for Patched boot.img in Storage/Magisk folder and move it to your PC.
Flash only the patched boot.img with FlashTools
Install Magisk Manager.
Done.
Make sure you have the most recent drivers installed and your phone gets detected properly.

Already did this while ago, also installed Riru -Core module via Magisk, as well as Riru -EdXposed (installed sandhook, the yahfa version was very buggy), installed Gravity Box and everything works perfectly. The GCam is something special that I must have and I am willing to dinate to anyone who makes it work on BV9800Pro! ?
GCam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.5.190418.1850
Hi LGZACRO,
I tested the GCam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.5.190418.1850.apk from Arnova8G2.
The Foto mode works with the bv9800 pro but video mode crashes.
I use the hedgecam 2 at my bv9800 pro.
There you can switch of edge enhancement and noise reduction under Filtering.
Sometimes the bv9800 pro camera app do to much denoise.
I posted this information already in the blackview forum but
the admins there dont publish this post :-/
Ciao Jens

Thanks so much for the info!
I don't know how many apps You have tested, but what if we split the developers apps together and test them one by one, then we make a list with notes of apps that works and what major issues they have, so we know major things about GCam on BV9800Pro and then, if no app seems to work good enough, we create a new thread here and ask for developers to fix bugs. What do You think?
Hi LGZACRO,
i feel the idea:
" ... but what if we split the developers apps together and test them one by one,
then we make a list with notes of apps that works and what major issues they have..."
is not so good.
I dont would like to install dozens apps on my phone by sideload.
I think gcam port for bv9800 pro can only make by a developer.
Who can develope and debug the gcam code for the
sony imx582 sensor and MTK helio p70 soc.
I am not able to to such things :-/
The other point is:
From my opinion
the under average picture quality of the bv9800 pro main cam
as mentioned e.g. here:
please google: "Blackview-BV9800-Pro-smartphone-review-Rugged-smartphone-with-an-infrared-camera.451160.0.html"
is not only a software problem.
I think the lens in this cam is not good enough for the big aperture (small fnumber of about 1.75).
And I can see in the pictures done by hedgecam 2 without filtering (sharpening, denoise) that there is some edge enhancement (on the imx582 chip?).
In the attachent are two crops:
One done by bv9800pro cam (fine structures are smoothed.
One done by hedgecam 2 without filtering (but with artefacts of edge enhancement).
At last the Camera2 api works at stock rom (no root)
but only without raw support.
Ciao Jens

edit: typos
Does hedgecam also allow using the 5MP camera on the back of the Blackview BV9800 Pro? Does it allow using the FLIR camera too, or is that only through the FLIR app?
I noticed that hedgecam allows using e.g. the near-infrared camera on the front of the Google Pixel 4 (normally only used for face-unlock). This made me curious about using hedgecam to use other auxiliary CCDs to take photos.

Hi __niflheim,
I have only access tho the 48 mpix cam and the selfie cam by the hedge cam app. The 5 mpix cam and the FLIR sensor can only used by the MyFLIR app :-/
Ciao Jens
I struggled to find any gcam mod for my A100.
I only found this one , which was gcam made for cheaper android phones with lower chipsets.
Atleast its better then the stock cam.
Blackview talks a big game about cameras, but they not.

[GCAM CONFIG] cpkelley94 GCam 8 Config for Lineage/AOSP ROMs

cpkelley94 OP8T Google Camera Config for Greatness 8.2 on Lineage/AOSP ROMs
AboutHi everyone!
I recently purchased an OP8T and switched over to LineageOS 18.1 and I am loving the experience; however, I lost the OOS Cam in the process (which wasn't very good anyway in my opinion). I had previously used GCam on my OP3T and was able to get wonderful photos consistently. However, I wasn't quite happy with the experience of GCam on OP8T. A lot of fundamental work has been put into the base configs by others (big thanks to enerGy!), but I wasn't quite happy with the photos I was getting from these configs, so I am building my own, starting from enerGy as a base.
I am continuing to work on improving this config over time and will post updates periodically with a changelog complete to the best of my ability.
Features
All major cameras working (Main, Ultrawide, Macro, FFC) with an easy toggle in the app (Macro does not work on some AOSP ROMs)
Natural saturation profile and exposure indoors and outdoors (my preference for saturation profile is somewhere between the Pixel and Samsung Galaxy)
Zoom slider that auto-hides
Night Sight, Portrait mode, Sunset mode, Astrophotography, Video with stabilization, Slow Motion video working
Strong auto-focus with manual option by selecting a position in the viewfinder, object tracking enabled
Known Issues
Macro does not work on some AOSP ROMs
Because of the way RAM Patcher is implemented, the saturation profile of the FFC is currently tied to the back cam that is currently selected (Main, Ultra, or Macro). For best selfie results, switch to the Macro cam (if available) before flipping to the FFC.
Main camera is still locked to 12 MP binning. Working on seeing if this can be fixed via Magisk module.
Video quality currently isn't as strong as OOS Cam.
Note about OOS vs. Lineage/AOSPSimilarly to the OP7 series, it looks like various configs and registers have been implemented by OnePlus in OOS to improve photo quality in the OOS Camera on OP8T. However, these registers interfere with the quality of photos in GCam. In my experience, the photos I get from this config and GCam on LineageOS surpass the quality of OOS Cam, but your preferences may be different. This also means that this config is tuned for parameters in AOSP/Lineage ROMS and may not achieve optimal results on OOS or ROMs where OOS Cam is enabled. Let me know your experience.
EDIT 07/12/2022: It appears that the availability of the Macro camera to GCam is ROM-dependent. Macro is confirmed to work on LineageOS 18.1, but has been reported to crash in ArrowOS and SparkOS. If you are on an AOSP ROM and the Macro does or does not work for you, please feel free to report either in this thread or by DM. Thank you!
My SetupI have only tested this config on my own device, info here:
Variant: KB2007 (T-Mobile)
Firmware: KB2005 (latest A11)
Android version: 11
ROM: LineageOS 18.1
GCam: GCam8.2.204_Greatness.211115.1033Release_Snap.apk
I expect this config to work well across many OP8T device configurations, but if you have a different device setup and this config does or does not work well for you, please let me know!
Installation Instructions
Download and install GCam 8.2 from Greatness. The version I use is available here. Be sure to download the Snapcam version (org.codeaurora.snapcam).
Download the config available in this post and place it in /sdcard/GCam/Configs8. Create these directories if they do not already exist.
Open GCam and double tap on the black region below the viewfinder to open the config selection menu. Choose this config and tap Restore.
Enjoy!
AcknowledgmentsBig thanks to enerGy for the starting config and all the GCam porters for their tireless work. And thanks to you for trying this out!
Version InformationCurrent config version: v2
GCam version: Greatness 8.2.204

Thank you for sharing this. Does the app crash when you open the Macro camera, or after you take a photo? Are you able to take any photos with Macro without it crashing, or does it crash every time?
How is the performance with the other cams?
This is working great on LinageOS 18.1, thanks alot for the contribution!! Lovely pictures.
Can't wait for a Magisk module, for the limitation of 12MP.
I also tried with the updated Gcam apk, and can't see any issues in the application. How come you use the older version?

Great to hear it works for you on the new APK. No specific reason I haven't updated my app, just haven't had time to test the new version and I have been sticking with what I know works for now.
It looks cool, but unfortunately the app crashes when I select the first lens from the bottom. I also tried to activate macro mode in the settings (it was not enabled by default) and the same happens, the application shuts down.
I recorded what it looks like:
https://streamable.com/ah9ms8
I am using the ArrowOS 11 rom.

The same thing happened to me as well. Everything else is pretty good, but the macro lens doesn't seem to work properly, and the camera app crashes.
Config version v2 released, available in OP (07/12/2022):
Increased saturation for Main and UW
Balanced RGB color profile for Main and UW

Thanks so much for reporting this and for the recording. I have updated the OP to reflect that Macro appears to be unavailable to GCam in some AOSP ROMs. Macro has been working well for me in LineageOS 18.1.
I anticipate this issue will require more than just a config change to fix, but I will look into it.
I needed to enable the Macro lens in the settings as Camera 3, but then it worked. It takes pictures and focusses properly, although the Pics are a bit grainy (but as far as I remember this was the case in OOS as well). However when I first enabled it Camera 3 was labeled as Tele, had to rename it. Camera 4 & 5 don't work and lead to an immediate crash. I guess there is no way to enable the real Tele Lens, because tapping on the 2x Button just seems to zoom in on the main camera.
I am on Arrow OS 12.1, latest OOS 11 Firmware and GCam8.2.204_Greatness.220428.0041Release_Snap.
Thanks for your work! This is by far the best config I found so far.
Usong Greatness Snap abd this XML, macro lense crashes gcam.

Thank you for the info! Btw the OnePlus 8T does not have a telephoto lens-- only main, ultrawide, macro, and a small monochrome sensor.

Macro is crashing on AOSP roms and human portraits having a dark skin tone. Waiting for update
