LG EVE?GW620 with LG 2.2 Froyo Official.
This is NOT just an LG problem as I read others have the same issue with different brands of phones.
I noticed that when I add a new contact if I do not drop down the tiny part at the top and pick Phone/SIM/Google it will default to phone. That means it does NOT sync with Google. I also can NOT go back and change the contact on the phone to be SIM or Google. Part of the purpose of having this phone is for it's ability to sync with Google.
Is there a setting to set it to default save your contact with Google and NOT phone?
*This is important because if you load up new contacts they will NOT sync with Google, so if you lose your phone then you lose your data. Part of what makes Android cool is your data is sync to your Google account so you are always up to date even if your phone is lost or broken.
I do NOT have this option to set.
I found this BUT that option is NOT there for 2.2 LG Official---see bold item
right now i have Google contacts syncing to my phone. weird thing is, when i log into gmail and look under contacts, there isnt any listed. where does google get list from? I thought logging into gmail and clicking contacts would show me a list of names, but it doesnt. I dont get it.
First:
You need to make sure you enter a new contact by saving to Google.
Contacts that are on your "phone" will not transfer to Google automatically.
You can change your default save location by:
Open contacts
Press menu touch key (key on left side of your phone)
Press MORE
Press SETTINGS
Change: Save new Contacts from: Always Ask to GOOGLE
In Google it saves your contacts under the "My Contacts" tag.
Let me know if you need any other help with this.
p.s.:
If you want your contacts on Google and your phone, the easiest way is to enter them through gmail then let sync push them to your phone. Your phone (should) join the duplicates since they will have the same names and telephone #.
anyone??? hellooooo
anyone here??
I have a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 YP-G1. These devices, similar to iPod Touches, do not have an active service provider, meaning I do not have 3G/4G, calling, or texting features. It does have built in WiFi and GPS location services. My main problem is I do not have a way to effectively track the device if it is lost or stolen. I would really like an app that runs in the background all the time, recording GPS coordinates to a file on the SD card. I would then like to be able to set it up to send those coordinates, in an email or upload to a server (user provided), when WiFi is connected.
The issue I am having is none of the apps that I have found allow me to track the device unless it has an active WiFi connection. If the device is lost or stolen it could be quite sometime before it does have WiFi access and when it does I will never know (unless I am lucky enough to try to track it during that period of time). If it uploads or emails a log file with the coordinates in it (or even better a google maps format that could be imported into google maps) I would not only get the current location when the thief connects to WiFi but also I would get a list of everywhere he has been. There is a very good chance that this data could be used to determine where the thief lives.
Basically I want to keep a local log file of where the phone has been and upload or email it when possible. It could also delete the log after emailing or uploading to save space.
Is this something that could be done?
Automatic sender of SMS with location information to multiple recipients.
SMS is still the most reliable and easy accessible service for sending information from one person to another.
With this application you can send SMS with your location information (Longitude, Latitude) to multiple recipients.
It could be useful when:
- you want to send periodical information about your location to somebody
- cases of emergency
- to find lost phone
- to mark the location of point of an interest sending SMS from there
-----------------------------------------------------
There are two modes - AUTOMATIC and MANUAL.
In AUTOMATIC you press , type phone numbers of the recipients, type the automatic message text (50 chars max) and define the timer(days:hours:min) and max number of SMS. Then press to save the settings. Then after enabling automatic send the application will send SMS periodically to predefined contacts.
In MANUAL you can type text (50 chars max) and push button and send SMS to predefined list of contacts.
The format of the SMS is:
"[Your Message]
Location:
[Lat,Long]
42.6563,23.3755
Accuracy:10m
IMSI:28401XXXXXXX
IMEI:3531XXXXXXXX"
The recipient of SMS can copy Latitude and Longitude values (in this case 42.6563,23.3755) in Google Earth or Google Maps and will find the location of the sender.
The Accuracy of GPS fix can help in determining the reliability of the location.
IMSI and IMEI can provide further information in tracing the sender.
In order to allow application to use GPS set in
Settings> Location and security> Use GPS satellites ON.

Tips and tricks:
Make sure you have good GPS reception before pushing [Send Now] button. The location information that is sent is what you see on the main screen of application. It might be outdated if the GPS reception is not good.
You can put your phone number at the end of the predefined contact list. In this way if SMS service has some delay you'll know when the SMS has arrived to other recipients.
In AUTOMATIC mode you can postpone sending of an SMS turning AUTO SEND OFF and then ON again. Then the sending cycle will restart.
The initial configuration of AUTO SEND is 1 SMS after 1 minute to your own number. In order to test it enable AUTO SEND.
Download from Google Play
great app! does this have the option to automatically turn the GPS on/off too? to save on battery
Yes, the GPS is turned on at the start of the program in order to get the current coordinates.
Also GPS is switched on/off when you switch MANUAL SEND on/off.
In AUTOMATIC mode GPS is switched on several minutes before the send of the message.
The user just have to enable GPS usage in the settings of the phone.
great! thanks

Hi,
I have pulled out my old HTC One XL for my daughter to use.
Interestingly the her One XL device now sends me an SMS with the Google location (longitude and latitude).
If i disable location services, I still get an SMS saying "Network problem, location not found"
I cant figure out what is doing this and also how to disable this.
HTC said to disable Cell Broadcast but this did not stop the SMS.
Any help is appreciated.
Hey guys! I was wondering if we can turn off a notification for a certain number thru Google Contacts? I saw that this is possible thru Google Messages, but I can't see the option in Contacts. I don't want to block the number, I just don't want to be notified by it when he/she is calling specifically.
Or, if there's any app that I could do that in replacement of Google Contacts.
Thanks! :good:
