First back up every thing in your phone to the PC, cause this rom will delete everything.
Unzipfile in your PC, then go to the folder where you unzip it, there is a sub folder called ADB, copy all content and paste it to da main folder, with the .img files. Next open the one of the .exe file from the ADB, I forget its name I think its start.exe. Open it by pressing shift on the keyboard and right click the mouse, run as administrator, you will run a command prompt.
Then shut down your phone, go to bootloader by pressing power an volume keys at the same time, after that connect your phone to your PC.
When connected go to your PC command prompt, type, flash_all.bat. Hopefully it will flash everything in the folder, then reboot the phone.
But be careful, cause this will delete all you data. So better back up everything.

Rolling back

I know this is going to sound silly but is there any way to roll back to previous firmware after an update?
yes you can, after the update, if you have not deleted the backup, simply go to settings->phone->update. In there you will see a restore button with a date on it. Hopefully that should work.

The restore button is not there as I expected, the same thing happen to me before where Zune back ups disappear from the default folder you just mention. I know this as fact because the last back up did show up and the restore button was there then one day while checking for updates it just vanished, I was like WTF? So I actually copied a back up from like 5-11 but I don't know how to make Zune see the pks file I tried to use the Windows Support tool app but it tells me "a prior backup does not exist in the proper location to restore to your device". Please help, I don't want to go to Android or iPhone. Thanks.
I'm assuming you're trying to make zune see the pks file, but aren't backups made in .dat and .hash file formats? this is pretty annoying

Yea I know it's anoying; when I went to the default folder where Zune saves the back upfiels all I saw was this pks file, I'm thinking that if there were were a dat or hash file, I might have missed them; in that case I'm out of luck.

[Q] LG P500 not booting up

I rooted my phone (Android 2.2.1) yesterday using superoneclick. The rooting process went through smoothly. After the phone was rooted, I installed setCPU. Then I installed root explorer and used that to delete some stock apps- various apps including 'LG Installer'. Phone was working fine till then.
I thought the phone response was slow, so I thought of rebooting and switched the power off and then on. Since then the phone refuses to boot up- I get the flashing android sign, and this goes on and on forever. I read somewhere that a hard reset might help- so I pressed the volume up key, home key and power button simultaneously- the phone then booted up in recovery mode, but the screen is blank and I cant see any icons/ apps etc.
Please help- how do I fix this? Did I set some wrong settings in setcpu accidentally, or did I delete some critical stockapp?
Thanks
Vishnu
if you didn't install any recovery you canot do nothing by pressing power+vol up+home because there is nothing
first of all search for kdz updater and do an stock rom update and start all over again with new stock rom

I need to correct this. First of all.. its VOL DOWN you have to use. Hold HOME + VOL DOWN then power to be safe.
@vishnuagni
You shouldn't use apps like setCPU on stock roms with 'Stock Kernel'. Stock kernel dont support overclocking and other things.
You dont need to use kdz or other things.. hold home + vol down then power for few seconds.
If your phone has recovery.. it will enter recovery and you can flash any rom you like.
Or if you dont have recovery.. holding those buttons will hard reset your phone.
Never delete things in stock rom because it will be in odex format and you wont know which file to keep and which one to delete.

Thanks rroyy and grigtm
I realize that I have embarked on this process without understanding many things and gotten into trouble- I didnt realize that setCPU would not work with the stock kernel....Also based on various sites, I had understood that rooting allows one to delete stock apps one doesnt want and will also help to create space. In fact, there was a page describing how to use root explorer to delete stock apps- and I followed that. Didnt realize that some critical files may get deleted....anyways....
When I press the volume down + home + power button, the image of an arrow coming out of a box with the android below appears (I guess this indicates recovery mode), and the phone finally boots up- but doesnt show any apps etc. (as I mentioned earlier).
So do I need to get a new rom now by following the steps in one of the links grigtm has shared? Mine is an Indian version- was running 2.2.1...the steps look complex- I guess I will have to very careful...not sure what an nv is...
Thanks

No need to be sorry mate.. let it be vol up/down.. its fine if you are able to enter recovery!!
@vishnuagni
That arrow out of box is Reset in progress.
You might have deleted LG UI launcher. Try if you could open settings.. use menu button (extreme left hard key). If that works.. connect your phone to data or wifi. Add your account. Tgen open play store in PC.. login and install any launcher.
After that is done.. press home button and select that launcher as default.
Or
Connect your phone to pc and use ADB to push a launcher in /system.
Read.. how to use adb.
If all these look difficult.. get it updated from service centre.

Thanks grigtm for your tips.
Thanks rroyy- I think what you are saying about having deleted the launcher is very likely correct. I get the message after the phone resets- the application com.android.lgsetupwizard (process com.android.lgsetupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.
I couldnt get into settings by pressing the menu key (nothing happened).
I am now trying to set up adk....hope that it works- will keep posted. Thanks again- has been very useful

By the way, I am able to copy files between my pc and the phone. So would it be possible to simply copy the needed files for the launcher into the correct directory on the phone to make things work?
Just try and let us know if it works.. dont know if dex app wil work on stock rom.
Later download and extract LGsetupwizard which you deleted. There are stock Zip roms in this forum.
Kdz would be risky but simple.
And next time remember to make a nandroid backup before experimenting!!

Also- any way to restore deleted files through the pc connection? Could that solve the problem? Havent managed to install adb properly yet- getting stuck after installing android sdk at the step of installing platform tools....
you can try to copy launcher app from an downloaded rom into your phone system, but you need to use adb, directly from pc cannot copy anything in phone memory, just in sd card, you need write rights to system
download any rom, open zip and navigate to system/app folder and extract the "launcher" .apk whatever launcher is there if you recognize it by name, I use dinamiterom and the launcher is TREBUCHET.APK
by the way, for data from pc-->phone I use an app named SwiFTP and copy/paste files through wifi and first time I used this it has shown me phone memory folders but it was only then, now it shows only sd card, this app is an wifi FTP server very simple to use
one question?can you access status bar if you swipe down? ?can you access system settings by pressing menu physical key? ?what ROM have you in that phone?

Try learning about KDZ, is dangerous to play around it without knowledge but if you learn it up, it can help you to fix some (not all) of the bricked phone situation:

Download the Flash tool for Xperia devices.
Unzip the file you downloaded and place it somewhere on your computer.
In the unzipped folder, run Emma.exe. During the installation, make sure you remember the installation path:
Default path in Windows 64 bit is: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Mobile\Emma\”
Default path in Windows 32 bit is: “C:\Program Files\Sony Mobile\Emma\”
Copy the Customization.ini file. You find it in the Flash_tool_for_Xperia_X.zip.
Paste the Customization.ini file into the installation folder. The installation folder is the folder named Emma in the installation path examples on point 3.1 and 3.2 above.
Click Start > All programs > Sony Mobile > Emma (if you used the default installation path from step 3 above) to start the flash tool
flash tool link here - http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/tools/Flash_tool_for_Xperia_6.zip
---------- Post added at 03:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:34 PM ----------
Now after installing
(1)
Computer: Open Emma from the Start menu of your computer.
(2)Connect a USB cable to your computer.
(3)Phone: Turn off your phone.
(4)Connect your phone to the USB cable while holding the flash key. Device will be detected and accordingly available software list will be displayed.
(5)Computer: Select the software you want to flash in the Service list. Service refers to standard official ROM for your Sony Xperia device.
(6)Click on Apply Service. The phone will now be flashed.
(7)Phone: When you have flashed your device, you can disconnect your phone from the computer. The first time you start your device after you have flashed it, the boot-up might take a little longer than normal.

You should still be able to use it though.
*****Requirements:*****
1. Stock recovery: You can search the internet for "Huawei Update Extractor", download the program and use it to extract stock recovery from that download file. Having stock recovery is a prerequiste to force upgrade using dload method. Without it, this method WILL FAIL.
***Alternatively, it has been uploaded on this forum so you can go download it from there.***
2. A USB drive that can be connected to the phone via OTG(I didn't try this myself, however, according to some people, this is possible) OR a Micro SD card with a Micro SD card reader or another phone to be able to access it. WHichever you're using, It must have at least 8GB size and must be formatted with exFAT.(You won't be able to copy the biggest update.app file into it if it's formatted via FAT32).
*****Steps on how to do it:*****
1. If you don't have stock recovery installed on the phone, flash it via fastboot first.
2. Prepare the Micro SD card OR a USB drive you can connect to your phone via OTG, by extracting the dload folder which is include in SDUpdate_Package.tar.gz and copying it to the root folder of your Micro SD card or USB drive.
3. Make sure your phone is not low on battery(at least %30 is recommended) and not plugged to anything. If you're using USB over OTG to upgrade however, plug that in first.
4. Press and hold Volume UP, Volume DOWN and POWER button simultaneously. It will boot up in forced upgrade mode and install the contents of the update.app file if it's compatible with your device. It will automatically restart when it finishes.
Congratulations! You have successfully restored your ROM to Service firmware RNE-L21C185B101!
5. Optional: Bootloader will be locked after using the first update.app, so you may want to unlock it again. The good news is, you can use the same unlock code you used first to unlock it(if you have saved it somewhere, that would be great).

Thank u man
It went exactly as you provided detailes for !
First I had a 16 GB card working perfectly fine for normal use, but it wont just copy this dload
even after I formatted it via TWRP (Changed file system as exfat) still it would show error copying.
Then I used another 32 GB card, formatted it as exfat via card reader/Windows 7, then copied files one by one
it copied fine, and then the rest of update procedure (via all 3 buttons) was like a breeeeeeze.
Thank u man GOD Bless u

Need stock recovery.img for this phone

I installed twrp on my phone expecting to install a custom rom soon after. Come to find out that all the supposed guides for installing custom roms on this phone are phony. There is no rom for this phone, trust me, I've looked everywhere.
I need to replace the stock recovery so I can get ota updates. Anyone with this phone who can post it, I would highly appreciate it.
Even i am looking for Stock image file, can some one extract it from their devices and post it here. All places where ROM for this phone is found is behind a paywall, and i am also not sure if its genuine

Here is my backup , but when I making backup, I forgot to remove my SIM card when i reset my phone and made bakeup, so there might be some SIM card build-in apps, just delete after restore.
