From the thread in general, it looks like many chargers will trigger wake locks in our phones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759541
I thought it would be good to have a thread that lists chargers that are known to work with our skyrockets, and don't produce the wake lock issue.
FYI- in the thread above, there is a link to another thread that has an App you can use to test your charger:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29451951#post29451951
I've used the app to test a number of chargers that I have, and the following work well (i.e., type 2= AC Fast Charge. AC Fast Charge. There is 5VDC on pins 1&4, and pins 2&3 are BRIDGED):
Stock Samsung charger (duh)
HTC Inspire 4G charger
AT&T U2800A - GoPhone charger
For car chargers, unfortunately, all of mine produced wake locks. So, I'd like to see if anyone knows of good car chargers that fast charge and don't produce the wake locks. I looked at the Samsung ones, and from what I read, they are 700 mah, and not the 1A chargers would be preferable if you are trying to use GPS, etc.
Feel free to add your known chargers here. Maybe this can be made a sticky if we get enough responses.
Update: I had a chance to check the charger in my wife's car, which is a HTC- Mobile My Touch 3g charger, and it works correctly. Just bought another one for my car.
Here is the link at amazon:

Nice, the charger you posted also charges up to 1.0 amp, just bough 2.
I'm surprised more people haven't chimed in on this. I tested my girlfriends iGo charger and it doesn't produce a wake lock.

I'm assuming you soldered the pins together for fast ac charging?

Other chargers....
HTC MyTouch 4G chargers
Just Wireless 1.0A Wall Charger (Target and WalMart)
Just Wireless HTC, Motorola, and Samsung Car Chargers
Or....
Buy the Just Wireless USB Universal Charger Cable ($15 from Target and WalMart) and use nearly any charger that normally causes wakelocks, including:
- Apple 5W (1A) charger for iPhone/iPod
- Apple iPad charger
- Griffin Wall chargers
- Most 1A car chargers
and much more
I'm using the USB Universal Charger cable and I'm able to get Fast Charging (AC) out of it with my Galaxy Note i717 combined with my iPad chargers.
I realize that old chargers and even most new ones will simply work, but I have had a hell of a time finding any 3rd party charger (wall or car) that supports USB PD (Power Delivery) at 9v/2A (18w). I am aware Googles store has the official wall charger and a Belkin car charger. Has anyone found any cheaper options? I just cant bring myself to spend $35+ per charger
I am looking for both a car and wall charger and prefer:
-usb c to c
-9v/2A 18w Power Delivery
-$25 or less per charger (car or wall)
-Available on Amazon (US)
-Separate cabling (not permanently connected to a cable)
Is this just a matter of waiting for USB PD to be more mainstream? I also presume from my research that Quick Charge 3.0 is NOT compatible/interchangeable with PD.
Thanks
Here's the thing. I've done extensive research and here's the TL;DR:
Buy the Google 18W Charger for $35.
Here's the reason. Most chargers out there for USB-C with the correct wattage but no PD or w/ PD cost around $20-$25 US Dollars. A reputable USB-C cable (no matter the length) is going to cost at minimum $10 dollars. That's $35 dollars.
So, when you look at that, the better deal is Google.

Have to agree with @GreenMachin3. I've done alot of reading up and following Benson Leung and Nathan K. on Google+ about their work with USB-C chargers and the conclusion I came to is that the only surefire way to ensure that your phone won't get ruined is by buying OEM or what Google sells. Reading some of the their reviews on Google+ (Gtrusted and USB C communities) makes me cautious enough to spend the money on the correct charger.
I have to agree with the above comments from @greenmachin & @ufinmd, Benson, GTested & Nathan K have a sheet going with cables and chargers. With ratings on compatibility etc, the Google charger seems to be the best bet, unless you want more than 18w for future devices and dont mind buying separate cables.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...x9dMDWqENiY2kgBJUu29f_TX8/edit#gid=1288176877
The sheet contains a rating, and link to either the manufacturer/amazon, the specific model, and who validated it's compatability.
As more devices are added you may find one in the goldylocks zone, so just sit tight and wait if you can.
Why do we even care if a charger is USB-PD specific? The Pixel has a Qualcomm QC 3.0 IC inside of it and current QC 3.0 chargers (and even some older non QC 3.0 certified chargers) actually charge faster than the Google charger....
See my thread here for more details on chargers I have used.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/accessories/pixel-xl-experience-multiple-chargers-t3485587
I was of the understanding that the Pixel/XL were not QC 3.0 compatible and ONLY PD compliant. Is it possible to safely fast charge them using QC 3.0 chargers then? If so that's great because those are dirt cheap.
Thanks for the link and for others input too. Seems so far the consensus is that the google chargers are the best bet. I heard the Belkin car charger they have is $5 cheaper at Verizon so I may swing by there Thurs on my day off to grab a car charger.
Ill have to check out the spreadsheet. My phone arrived today so ill get hands on with it tonight after work. I will first have to evaluate if the cable is long enough for me and if not get a longer cable or 2. I may pick up 1 or 2 other wall chargers at some point too.
Can anyone comment if QC 3.0 is support and safe? Those types of charger are abundant and cheap.
UPDATE 12/17/2016 Charger still works great no issues with it and my Pixel XL

UPDATE 11/23/2016, mentioned this charger to Nathan K, and he linked me a review done by HKJ http://budgetlightforum.com/node/45176.
COMMENTS: "He felt it was "a bit too powerful". Translation (and my opinion): it lacks overload protection safeties, avoid.
"No individual port overload protection."
UPDATE 11/15/2016: I tested with my Pixel XL and it handles 1400-1450mA in port (A) using stock a-c cable and 1450-1530mA in port (c) cabled usb-c..
UPDATE 11/12/2016; This morning I plugged in at 66% on phone, ampere showed the charger feeding 2400mA. This is as fast as my zerolemon QC wall charger on my lg g4.

I just found this deal on slickdeals and I am just posting the deal here if anyone wants to take advantage. I ordered 3 myself. But do not know anything other than that about the product or the site selling them. Use/Order at your own risk!
FIY: I don't think this is capable of charging the Pixel at 18w max, but it should be able to do it safely at 15w (5v 3A). It supposedly can't handle max charging two devices either. It has a permanently attached USB C cable and a USB A slot.

PSA; as some of you know Benson Leung fried his Chromebook Pixel while testing. Others may not know that on November 9th Nathan K posted messing up his Pixel's Port controller as well.

Thanks for the heads up, they still have the coupon code listed in the description.
So, I already read all the other threads on car chargers, but I have a bit of a unique situation.
I use a ProClip charging dock for my pixel xl in my car, but sadly the pigtail from that terminates to a male USB-A. Is there any charger out there that would actually allow for 3A charging over a USB-A connection instead of max 2.4? Would just splicing on a USB-C connector allow for full speed charging? Really wish this company outputted their charging docks to the proper termination
I have my eyes set on this one, just not sure if I'm missing something https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B7NIG72?ref=emc_b_5_t&th=1
I tried to splice into a type c cable to do some f*ckery one time. Bad idea. Many wires, same colors.
For so cheap I bought it, worst case it doesn't work
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Short answer, is no. Because with the 56k ohm resistor built into the cable, the phone will never draw over 2.4a. but, you can get a voltage drop compensating charger like many of the Anker chargers to ensure the voltage is 5v at the device end.
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
If it's of any help to anyone, I picked up an XL this week and took a chance on Anker's PowerDive Speed2 charger. On the side it shows the output as 3.6-6.5v @ 3A / 6.5-9V @ 2A / 9-12V @ 1.5A
In use my Pixel shows "charging rapidly" and the Anker charger is barely above ambient temp. I can't measure to confirm, but based on the behavior seems to charge a Pixel at the spec of 9V @ 2A. Not sure this is a PD spec charger but it works for me.

Seeking recommendations for a USB Power Delivery car charger (for rapid charging). Ideally I would like something that's low profile so my console door can close over it when not in use

No wires included is just what I was looking for! I have so dang many - Thank you!!!
I'm curious if anyone has used any of these chargers for the Essential phone. I'm probably gonna grab the second one I link below and will test with my usb-c power meter and report back when I have time but if anyone else has direct experience I'd love to hear it.
This one looks a lot like what we need but it oddly states "not compatible with Essential" though there are reviews stating it does and does not work
https://smile.amazon.com/Nekteck-Ce...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RH73X9QDHJD8QPDN6DHG
This one has a little more power than the previous and does state that it works with essential though it claims that the PH1 negotiates via the 12V rail instead of the 9V meaning it is pulling less than 3Amps and therefore flags on the lockscreen as "charging slowly" even though it does charge fast.
https://smile.amazon.com/Nekteck-Ce...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RH73X9QDHJD8QPDN6DHG
This one is a nice looking wall charger but also oddly states not compatible even though it has the right specifications.
https://smile.amazon.com/Nekteck-Ce...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RH73X9QDHJD8QPDN6DHG
This one is wildly overkill for the PH1 and also states it has the same 12V rail thing as charger 2
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0721KG2Q7/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A3GMRWNJ2V9TRM
This one has a built in cable but also states the same 12V rail bug
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0719KV9PH/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A3GMRWNJ2V9TRM
So update...
I bought these two chargers off amazon, buy the car charger and the other charger is 50% off.
Both show charging rapidly when connected to the Essential phone so whatever mistake there used to be with it selecting the wrong rail or it not being reported correctly seems to not be an issue on oreo 8.1. I tested both with my usb-c meter and they seemed to provide something between 5 and 9 volts and anywhere from around 1 to 2.6 amps depending on charge level of the phone at the time.
Over all these seem like solid chargers and they are USB-IF certified so in theory the manufacturer isn't playing fast and loose with the charging specs like some do.

looks like monoprice is in the game now:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/27W-Car-Charger-with-USB-C-and-1A-USB-A-Ports/391954642515
weak usb-a, but usb-c supports [email protected]=27w
I bought this one
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B079MWXSS8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
27W on Power Delivery and ~10W on USB-A
Has 45 day money back and 2 year warranty.
It costs more than the others, but I've never had an Aukey charger go south.
I got a https://www.amazon.com/Trianium-Charge-Charger-Samsung-Nintendo/dp/B01LXY0ECN . It has QC3.0 and PD. Works very well for me. Not the cheapest and it's one of the few which works very reliably after trying out more than 5 such chargers. Some don't supply enough power, some says they are PD but yet charges slowly. Only this one really worked for me. It's almost $20 but worth it for me
