I'll be working on Ubuntu Touch for the Honor 6X soon. Would anyone be interested in trying it out or help bug test it once I get a working beta? I noticed Ubuntu Touch and other alternatives are rare with Huawei devices and thought I would give us one.
What is Ubuntu touch. But I would be willing to try
It's a dream that died a long time ago.

Would like to have the icontheme as .hwt
Interested
I would like to try. I have bln-l21 emui 5.0.4 android 7.0 currently.. if it works in this..

Hi. I own HTC Touch Pro T7272, i DID read the sticky, but I am still confused (may be because of my bad english). I have WM 6.5.3 right now, bit it's more and more laggy. I found out, that Android could be installed ony my device? If yes, would it be faster then WM 6.5? My father has Android and I like it more. If you would be so nice and post here link with guide where download and how to install Android into my phone? Thank you
Right now, I'd stick with winmo. If you find winmo is laggy, then installing Android is not the answer. I like it as a means to play around with but a part from that, nothing else seems to really fascinate me about Android, yet. Yeah, you can brag that you are running an OS other than what comes natively but over-all development is really slow for our device at the moment. If you like Android, my best suggestion is to get an Android native device. I'm sure this isn't the answer you were looking for but just thought I'd share my expereince with running Android on an older device.
for me i think android for touch pro is still have many bugs now. I have try to install froyo fx06 bundle, for the first time look i think it works good then windows but after a day i found that it drain battery, and sometimes wifi error and i need to restart my phone back to get it work, and the real problem is sometimes it's freeze. maybe we just need to wait a little while for someone release the new version.
p/s sorry if my english not good enough
So I'm sure a lot of you know that the final build of Ubuntu 13.10 released today! I know not too many developers are interested in it, and CM 10.1 is still being worked on. But I was wondering if there was anyone interested in this? I know it is still very early in development, and we still have yet to see a lot of things to come Canonical for Ubuntu touch. I'm just curious to see if it would be a realistic operating system to install on the blaze. I understand, according to the website, that you would only be able to use Ubuntu on the phone and not with a desktop, mouse and keyboard. I am unsure of the dual boot option. Would anyone know what the options would be with the Galaxy S Blaze with Ubuntu Touch?

Guys, since remix OS is likely dead here is a good option. Phoenix OS!
They have updated to Android Nougat which is the very first android version to provide awesome multiwindow API in the AOSP, so Android 7 supports multiwindow better than before. I mean instead of emulating the multiwindow function in Remix and Phoenix OSs before, Android nougat natively supports it in the new Phoenix OS version.
It's still in alpha but works fine for me. Here's the link: http://www.phoenixos.com/en/download_x86

when was the last update?
4 month ago... says github
But its a valid point..
I think resources are now focused on remix io..
but I hope this x86 project gets new wind...when the IO devices finally comes out
Remix isn't dead on the parts where they make money but they have lost THERE KEY EMPLOYEE and things have ... well.. lets just say they have fallen apart and Remix on the x86 side looks GRIM!! Looks pretty much dead but then again they could surprise us with another release.
No update since November, no sight of any Jide employee on XDA in months (not even so much as a "Hey, we haven't forgotten about you."), and Chih-Wei Huang left Jide after only 8 months and is even thinking about quitting the entire project (WTF was so bad to make him have to consider this?!). It's pretty safe to say it's dead. It can still be revived, but I'm not holding my breath at this point. Now, if we can only get the Phoenix OS devs to listen to the community more, we might still have hope.
What is awesome about Phoenix OS is the regular updates with no more than month wait time and that they DO LISTEN to their users. I loved Remix OS more but Phoenix OS is just fine. And the Android nougat gives phoenix a way big advantage over remix os.
Chih-Wei Huang left. So yea Remix OS IO device is the last one.
Mirroring with Pheonix
Hi all,
Right now i am using remix os in my acer e 573g laptop. works fine. but since there s no update from november i wish to go with phoenix. And i just wanted to know that, whether phoenix os supports VGA out. I do have a big wide screen monitor attached to my laptop using VGA port. Remix works fine in this case. shall i expect the same from the pheonix also?
thanks in advance
I tried their latest Alpha version v2.0.1.78 64-bit. Although it has solved a lot of bugs, it has introduced the Remix's freezing bug. Whenever a game is opened, system freezes within a minute. My laptop is Asus R558UQ with i5 7th gen, HD 620 and Nvidia 940mx card. The bug has something to do with the dual cards.
Can't guarantee but higher kernel version means better support to devices try and give feedback

Google Play Store will be added later. They trying to finishing up adding their apps and stuff first. You still can install some apps that doesn't require Google account to run.
base on phoenix os forum, Chih-Wei Huang is working on OPENTHOS now

Where at on that forums? I didn't see any post on this.
You might like to move the discussion to https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/phoenix-os
Use EXTMOD=i915 in grub and try. It will use the intel hd card and 'ignore' the nvidia one. The intel VGA has way better drivers and is strong enough to handle all games at high FPS. I play Asphalt 8 using Skylake intel 530 on Remix OS and is ****in smooth

Link or it didn't happen.
Update: After some short research, I was able to find this on the OpenThOs github -- https://github.com/openthos/system-analysis/issues/88
And he's listed at the very top of the developer list here. -- https://github.com/openthos/openthos/wiki/developer-list
Looks like we still have a chance people!! lol

Great project but on my huawei Matbook HZ-W09 wifi always disconnects! Someone knows why?
Hey there, XDA.
So I've been puttering about with Ubuntu Touch on another device I have lately (Fairphone 2) and attempted a couple ports in the past...
(Moto X 2013, gave away to a friend, Galaxy Note 3, ran into a roadblock with partition sizes)
I got to looking at my Shield Tablet and was just thinking about how it'd be a near perfect poster-child for Ubuntu Touch for tablets. The device is still a relative power house, has great specs, native HDMI out for convergence, and even has OEM maintained device trees and kernel sources!
On paper, it's perfect.
So, I was thinking, would anyone else want to see Ubuntu Touch running on this tablet through the UBPorts project? Any dev support would be especially helpful, as Nvidia's hardware is truly a bit...unique.
Before anyone points it out: I am aware that there is a 'native' Ubuntu desktop port already, however it is awfully out of date and the developer does not seem very interested in maintaining it currently (and I don't blame him, considering how much work porting nvidia's L4T sources to the TN8 must be)
Interest from me, I can test. No good at developing though !
Yes of course! There is some interesting on having Linux in shield tablet. There's linux4tegra but it's dependent on lollipop kernel. So it would be nice having a dual boot stock nougat and Ubuntu for shield tablet thanks for the initiative.
Interest from me too. Also without dev skills, but happy to test

Well, sadly, might still be dependant on Lollipop blobs/kernel as Ubuntu Touch still relies on Lollipop device trees since it uses libhybris for device support. Most annoying thing about it.
Is it possible to request Ubuntu for an updated kernel dependency?
So, this is embarassing.

Which version of Ubuntu is this?

hah...I kinda put this idea on the backburner cuz I couldn't really get anywhere and ubports/yunit seems to be floundering currently.
Speaking of flounder (aka Nexus 9), it seems that had an [at least booting] Ubports in the past
https://plus.google.com/+Ubports/posts/iCHaKMTXC1y
https://devices.ubports.com/#/flounder_lte
I am very interested indeed. And I can speak for at least two more people that I know.
UBports still seems to be working on Ubuntu Touch, from what I can tell.
How about Plasma Mobile?
Hey, I recently purchased a Huawei matebook 14, and I got curios into its build in Huawei share function, OneHop.
Here is a YouTube video that demonstrate it
watch?v=zMu9CsHBqPk
As far my knowledges goes, it works using NFC, WiFi Direct and Bluetooth.
So I was wondering if I could install some software on my phone, and make it work on a non Huawei device. I am currently using oneplus 7 pro, running with Oxsygen OS 10.0.7.GM2 1 BA. The newest android version available to this date on my device.
I have searched around the web a little, but did not get any wiser on the subject.
I would higly appreciated if someone could share their knowledges with me.

You probably can't install it as-is on the OP7 Pro. You will probably have to port/modify the app to work properly on OP7 Pro. You will have to do your own research and your own work to learn how to modify it yourself.
