The latest unofficial doesn't seem to boot, seems there is a problem with the bootloader. I will try the first unofficial and see if it works. The uploader of the Rom has made previous roms for other devices so there is hope finally for our Galaxy S8
Omg this is real? Pls work on g955f too
Crossing my fingers !!!
Can any dev check the validity of this rom?

I have the same issue. The problem seems to be with the bootloader, i might be completely wrong. Is there any dev that can check the rom?
---------- Post added at 03:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:33 PM ----------
The same dev also uploaded 2 AICP nightlies for our device. Or the developer confused code names for devices and this is not meant for our device
This is indeed for our device because dev has mentioned it is for "Galaxy S8" but highly doubt it is any different from the ROMs we already have that are not in a condition for daily use
I kept playing around with the rom for the past couple days and I pulled a tombstone file and it seems there is an openGL error. I have attached the tombstone file below. I'm not experienced enough to know what all of that stuff means lol

It seems there are other problems with the ROM, not just the OpenGL thing
"dlopen failed: library "/vendor/lib64/egl/get_process_name.so" not found"
You can try finding that file and placing it into the .zip file manually, unfortunately I can't test it because I have S8 plus, but no guarantee that it'll work

What about copying the whole of the vendor folder?
And placing them in the rom after the installation through the Twrp file manager?

So I just tried it and nothing changed which was weird. Then I go back to twrp and check the files and they're gone. They seem to get deleted every time the phone reboots for some reason I believe

Yeah, that's why I usually like to replace/add something from/to the .zip file itself, nothing like that will happen

The zip has inside it a system.new.dat.br where all the system stuff are and I can't open it. Would I be able to just place the vendor files in the root of the zip and just update the updater-script?

I am doing a new build at this time i think i did something wrong the first time, so im going to add another unsigned file in a minute if you or someone else could make it a flashable zip and do a logcat when you do to save time would be good help, ill edit this page when it goes live on dropbox.
BTW this is how im trying to port it if anyone else wants a go - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994503
For making flashable zip just select meta-inf folder system folder and boot.img and add them archieve, there is nothing extra to do.

This rom from the above links works well, ive tried it.
Is old hboot 2.09 supported ?
can we flash this over 4.0.3 or do we need 4.0.4 as base ?
Paint in more detail information on ROM.
From what device port that was done, lay out screenshots, competently issue a post, write the detailed instruction. That works that doesn't work.
Thanks.

Awesome mate, doing edits tonight will upload later.
Hi there are a few version of the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 that have no support for a custom recovery.
Source files have been found and are ready to be worked with.
The devices we would like to bring support to are the:
T330NU source file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/UG28maH2ce/SM-T330NU_NA_KK_Opensource.html
T335K source file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/9Y4qzw1zce/SM-T335K_KK_Opensource.html
T335L source file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/nZ4xmfNgba/SM-T335L_KK_Opensource.html
T337a source file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/21kf9dZYce/SM-T337A_NA_KK_Opensource.html
Boot.img dumped from device T330NU:
http://www.4shared.com/file/nOAtJQbCba/boot.html
Recovery.img dumped from device T330NU:
http://www.4shared.com/file/mSkFIM0Bce/recovery.html
If ANYONE is willing or knows someone who could be willing to port a custom recovery to these devices it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass on the message and spread the word. If we all do work together we should be able to get this done.
There are many people who are willing to test the final work. Thanks in advance.
Hey, I am dedicated to get a recovery for this device also. I am pretty good with computers but have never worked on a recovery project. I do have Linux and can help if needed on anything.

In terminal, type su dd if=/dev/emmc/"boot partition" of=/sdcard/recovery.img
I think you need to enter after su. It will save it to your sd. This is assuming root. You enter your boot partition in the quotes. Use this to find your partitions.

Thanks for the help I think I understand. I have terminal ready and the app installed. Just not sure which partition is the one to fill in the quotations in the terminal.
I'm attaching pictures if that helps.
Also I'm sure I do not include the actual quotes when typing in terminal just to save myself from confusion. I do have root by the way
UPDATE:
THESE PICTURE WERE FOR MY GALAXY NOTE 3 DISRAGAURD THESE PHOTOS. My mistake I was on my phone when I read the message and tried to jump right into it
THERE ARE THE PHOTOS FROM MY GALAXY TAB 4.
These would be the correct locations I need clarification so I know which ones are boot and recovery for pulling/extracting in terminal.
These two represent your recovery and boot partitions. So in the quotes you'll put the mmcblk0p15 for recovery.img.
I found that pulling the recovery is that exact code, whereas pulling the boot was a different code, but found easily on the internet. I got the recovery easy, the boot was a little more work, but did get it.

Think I am not typing it exactly how it needs to be. Even tried copy and pasting. So close but yet so far lol. I really think we have all been making progress the last few days. This would help if I could get it to work. Would be useful and handy to have a backup for each device variation.
Pic did not upload for me the first time. Backup did not work yet. I must be typing or copy and pasting wrong
I'm trying to remember how I did it. I believe you open terminal, type su then press enter, then type the rest. Let me do it again and see what my steps were.
---------- Post added at 01:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 PM ----------
Ok, I'm sorry. The code I gave you is actually for the boot.img not recovery. Here is the right code. Sorry again.
Type it exactly as I did and you'll find the backup on your sdcard (not external). I actually found the correct code in the 7.7" tab thread. Lol http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540641

I think we have most of the necessary files to get the job done. If you say you have got you boot.img and recovery backed up and so do I. We have source files also. All we need now is for the recovery to be compiled. For a skilled experienced developer to finish up what we started probably would not be too hard. If only we had someone to really take the time with us with some of the next key steps. I am looking up guides and resources all over the Internet but nothing concrete to get the job done ?

Yeh, I hear that. Like I said before, I've got my buddies looking at it, but these devices that they don't own aren't a priority for them. I don't feel right bugging them about it every day. I'll see if there's anything I can find. I'm not a developer and get lost with code, but guides I can help to find if you have the build environment.

Well although I planned to unlock bootloader after a few months I decided to grab the opportunity when unlock page started working and with the ultimatum by Huawei about providing unlock codes, but ever since I unlocked and fixed multiple boot loops I noticed few apps and features are now missing such as
HiFi Huawei sounds in Settings is gone
Unable to change or apply themes
smart remote Control is now gone,
Phone no longer stay awake while looking at it
There might be more stuff missing which I haven't noticed
I mean it feels absurd I just unlocked bootloader why are these stuffs missing this makes no sense to me, all I did is installed twrp, installed magisk no modules nothing, in fact, my favorite mods are giving boot loops anyway but that aside I do need the above things back please help out a friend, anyone else faced this ?
I have a theory like Miui had a "region" option and apps changes according to regions set. So does something like this happens in EMUI as well, I don't remember exactly but I believe I set region/language as the UK while completing the setup, if so how can I change it back(PS: I live in India)
or its the side effect of root perhaps?

I just realized the firmware on firmware finder seems rather incomplete, update.app is just 300 MB or so, no way it contains full system.img
so am gonna have to take twrp backup b ready for 3gb download, anything else u want other than the system?
From LOS to Stock
Thats not a problem bro, have a 50mbps 250gb monthly plan in broadband. Wanted you to know that I am coming from LOS to stock as much as I know it would require only system.img. But if you think anything else would be required, then please upload that too, as I have only the stock recovery and nothing else.

2. Also what is the version u have uploaded mate(8.0.0.140/8.0.0.151)?
3. Also can you upload ramdisk, kernel, stock recovery also?
4. Is there any way to get FULLOTA-MF for India as provided in other regions?
Thank you.

Hey, could you share how did you manage to extract the apks? I downloaded the firmware using the Firmware Finder and found the HwRemoteController.apk but when I try to install it via adb I get a signature failure.
Mate, thank you for this upload.
1. Is there any way to get FULLOTA-MF for India as provided in other regions?
2. How to install the latest update with root?. Is there any solution available?

U need to place them directly in /system/app
Or /data/apps and give permission rw-r--r--
Or try signing the apk it should work I guess if libs are not there

Take your own backup first... Try installing only one partition at time... To be honest this EMUI is very new to me... Dont know y they made so many different partitions
Or maybe it's a kirin's thing... I should have just gone with Op5t like rest of the world... Its just chaos and confusion here
I'm experimenting with getting the cm 12.1 to work on my hd8 2017.
One of my college friend suggested to try replace part of the folders in the system partition with the one in the cm and today i've tryed and to my astonishment it reachd the cm 12.1 splash screen and from there i'm getting a very nice bootloop
I know this is probably the worst way of porting a rom ( seems to me so, im not an expert) but if some rom-porting expert can tell me what is wrong with the boot process even just for the sake of knowledge.
in the attachments a splash-screen image and a partial logcat (the logcat was capture when the tablet was "dirty" and still had FireOS data and cache)
I know @Rortiz2 was looking at doing the same thing.
Maybe you two can coordinate.

Dude you need to use a ROM from an mtk 64 bit device!
I suggest this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p7000/development/rom-t3355842
Let me port it using that guide and I will send you a .zip for flash it using flashfire.

Libraries on hd8 2017 are 64 bit too (lib64 folder). And yes, it's very important. You can't port a ROM from an Snapdragon device to an MTK one lol.
I'm surprised that the bootanimation started.
Did you used flashfire for flash it?

nope i've patched the system image from the ota
but excluding the libraries (that i didn't touch) i know that you can't port a rom if the apps are odex at least until you deodex all of them becouse the odex contains the compiled code specific to the processor, correct me if i'm wrong

So you mounted stock system.img, replaced that folders, unmounted it and flashed it tought fastboot? Very interesting. IDK why bootanimation started if you're using stock boot.img that doesn't starts the bootanimation service from init.rc.

You can try if you want. I'm porting it too for see if it works, the problem is that I will make a zip so you will need to use flashfire to flash it..
PS: your hacked fastboot allows to flash boot.img's that are not from amazon?

Yep all it's ok except one rror:
Code:
load_driver(/system/lib/egl/libGLES_mali.so): dlopen failed: cannot locate symbol "_ZN12DpBlitStream14setPQParameterERK9DpPqParam" referenced by "libgpu_aux.so"...
You need to create a shim for that and since is ported, you can't
What ROM used this time?

Hi All,
I am planning on providing Samsung Galaxy stock debloated ROMs for M series FLOSS or GFS version.
Please contact me here for testing purposes and if anyone is interested.
Few added stuffs maybe given as well, depending on the kind of framework changes, as I will avoid any changes, as the FW breaks a lot.
I do not have any phone, hence all testing will be on the testers, so be sure to keep backups in case you agree to test.
Moreover, OTA is not possible and most probably it will be a decrypted OS. You will need good bandwidth and patience to do it.
Everything that you people do on TG can be done here, needs patience, which is all one should always have.
Share this with others, who wants to join. I will try any other series too, but only android 9 and 10 at the moment. Android 11 is not in my list.
Glad to hear that

If yes, then I will use it for the build.

Have built, and uploading. It is a heavy file, around 4.2 GB (hopefully only one time). Flash with ODIN (in AP). Uncheck auto reboot.
Reboot to stock recovery, format data, mount /system, format data once again, and reboot to DOWNLOAD mode.
Then try each of the following boot methods:
01. Reboot normally (you can keep auto-reboot" checked for this trial) - If fails, try 02..
02. After flashing, reboot to recovery, format data, dalvik/cache, reboot - If fails, try 03..
03. Extract the 3 files, and zip to a .zip extension via 7zip and not WinRAR. Add the META-INF (full folder) folder from the attached zip, to the ROM zip and flash via TWRP (the one available).
-- Unzip the META-INF zip, and unzip the tar file ROM. Copy them all to say desktop and add all 3 files and the META-INF folder to .zip via 7Zip. Resultant file should be a zip file consisting of META-INF folder, boot, system and recovery image (.img) files.
-- The tar file consists of boot.img, recovery.img, system.img. - If fails, try 04..
04. If for any reason you are not able to boot, just replace the boot and recovery with the original/stock boot.img and recovery.img, do not change the system.img I gave. Add all to a tar file (via 7Zip) and flash via ODIN. Please note, do not use any other file. Chances are you will boot.
Please note, booting may take a minimum of 10-15 minutes, so please be patient. Once SAMSUNG logo comes it should ideally boot. I am yet to get a way to make DM-Verity work with ODIN. I will post link of ROM soon.
ROM uploaded. N. B. Testing only. https://cloud.operationtulip.com/s/nb7TjDAskmL47tn/download
Ohh, and in between each try, or failures, you may have to format data (may). At times I have seen for any reason if it fails, clearing or formatting data is needed which is odd on M series, but not always. Probably, trial error mode, but I do recall.
Also, in the 4th option, if you boot with stock boot and recovery, you will not be rooted. I will try and add root to the system, but cannot guarantee as of yet.

Have built few testing TWRP's. Try them out and let me know what works, what not please.
1. TWRP+Mod - This is a modified version of what I wanted to build out of TWRP. This consists of that old TWRP, but modified to suit the latest builds. - Link
2. TWRP+Stock - This has stock features enabled. Should be good to go anyways. - Link
3. TWRP+vdbhb59 - This I have modified in many many ways, so should be good to go as well. - Link
4. TWRP_20201001_Test - Image/Tar - This I have made from scratch. If you say this one works, then I will load this as Unofficial (until TWRP accepts it) as Android 10 working.
In each let me know, what is working, and what is not.
You should be able to flash DM-Verity through these, post you install the OS I gave. File attached (do not rename the file).
All M21
If you face any issues try flashing twrp+boot via .tar in AP in one file. Then check.

Okay, can you try what I mentioned about the ROM through ODIN? I need to know that first. TWRP is not the necessity as of now, but to boot up modified system binary is. Please flash the rom via ODIN, as mentioned in the earlier post. Not with TWRP.
Edit: Also give what ever error you face. Snapshot, in writing, and the stage at which you get the error, etc.,
Check if any of these TWRP work: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=318632

The bugs in ported twrp from a51
I checked the twrp last 2 days it is not working perfectly as expected
*unable to backup or restore showing error like key is absent /twrp folder is not found
*error in internal storage may be due to encryption
*error flashing dm verity zip/multi disabler zip (/odm not found )
*unable to flash gsi images as it is not showing system image during flashing it only shows boot, recovery, optics, spectrum and super
*unable to repair /change format in wipe section
*all others like sd card /usb is mounting no issue with that
All this are my personal experience when i tested the twrp hope any developers will fix this soon

Okay, these bugs would have been there, as whoever ported they could not get a working one having /superimage and since /odm is not there as separate. ODM is a supra path, rather than individual path. This will take time, else will have to gather latest stock and make it as Pie would be like. Will take time though.
Thanks for testing out mate.

The trouble with latest updates is it has superimage. The super unpacker/packer does not work properly. You tested earlier. M21 has that. M31, I have not checked yet. If it has superimage too, then I will have to wait till I get a working one. Will check.
Thanks again.
Nope, superimage. I am having serious trouble with my W10 to run these even with VMUbuntu. Will only be able to work if that acts properly.
