[ROM[S3][TEST] MIUI Port For One S C2 - HTC One S

This is MIUI For the ONE S C2, It is based on bilal_liberty's CM10 Rom so expect similar performance and bugs. You will be running Android 4.1.2 With MIUI For Jelly Bean. It is currently not tested so make a full backup before you flash it, also do a logcat and post it if you can so we fix the issue if you have one.
Notice - This Rom has currently not been tested so use at your own risk, this is why it is labelled TEST.
Download - Soon
How To - To install this ROM just follow the usual way, Back up, Flash Rom, Clear Cache and everything and then boot.img.
V1.3 - Flashes, Boots but force closes and not stable, will release soon.
V1.2 - Re worked Port added, Not sure if issue has been fixed, you tell me.
V1.1 Test - Flashable .ZIP available but issues with flashing.
V1 Test - Launch

I am doing a new build at this time i think i did something wrong the first time, so im going to add another unsigned file in a minute if you or someone else could make it a flashable zip and do a logcat when you do to save time would be good help, ill edit this page when it goes live on dropbox.
BTW this is how im trying to port it if anyone else wants a go - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994503

For making flashable zip just select meta-inf folder system folder and boot.img and add them archieve, there is nothing extra to do.

Again use at your own risk, this has not been tested also everyone that does give it a try do a logcat so we can see if there is any problems.

This rom from the above links works well, ive tried it.

Is old hboot 2.09 supported ?
can we flash this over 4.0.3 or do we need 4.0.4 as base ?

Paint in more detail information on ROM.
From what device port that was done, lay out screenshots, competently issue a post, write the detailed instruction. That works that doesn't work.
Thanks.

Defy Froyo 3.4.2 Cookie Cutter Rom
Q. How Do I use the Update.zip?
A. Go to Market & Download Defy SD-Recovery & Install..
1. Next place the Update.zip on the /sdcard via PC
2. Turn on MoTo Phone Portal ( SD-Recovery is SD Based so you need to Turn Off USB Mass Storage )
3. ADB Debugging does not have to be Turned Off on my version
Once Booted into the Recovery apply the update.zip
wait a few minutes & it should be done...
Please Reads the notes I left in the Update.zip if you build a Custom Update.zip, this will save you trouble down the road.
What's Flashed?
A. Boot.img
B. dev_tree
C. Moto Blur 3.4.2 Rom ( Yes I know it's not the latest, built off what I had )
D. UNO & TMO-TV Removed
E. Rooted ( SU & Superuser )
F. Busybox Installed to xbin
G. Rest of Rom is stock
Once installed, remove eugene.apk from /system/app ( Old boot strap that need adb turned off before rebooting / defy sd-recovery does not have this issue)
Q. I Edited the update.zip & Now it fails verf. in recovery when trying to flash!
A. example of signapk on signing the edited update
java -Xmx1024m -jar signapk.jar -w testkey.x509.pem testkey.pk8 update1.zip update.zip

Glad to see you working on Defy too
I think this will be major help for developers and btw that 3.4.2 version did you used? since there are many of them.
Thanks.

i don't understand. is the boot.img still the signed cg35.smg?
if so, can't we just use the cmw to do that?
can you post more detailed chages you made over cmw?
other than the signapk and usb debugging described.
many thanks.

this Zip File is for what ?
Thanks
Greetings
you can not use cwm due encryption. If you dont know what an update.zip is stick to nandroid...
This is for rom builders.
Heading out, when I get home ill make it clearer.
Though, now that I think about it cwm might be fine due to the nature of how it works.
Ill test later and let everyone know

So we are able to install updates via the "normal" Motorola Recovery mode? So we are able to get a "unbrickable" Defy?
Edit: got it myself. The ZIP File won't be recognized by the motorola recovery... anyway thanks for your job

CwM can do exactly the same afaik, i've already made quite a few update.zip with it.
after reading all your notes, do you actually mean that we can't use format on those patitions?
if you do, well, i learned it the hard way, and delete_recursive also works for me.
thanks for putting up an excellent example if not for anything else, it's much needed.

Correct, you can only format with the stock recovery ( Hence the reason why I used the Stock Recovery ) any Partition with cwm recovery will cause a non-booting system..
regarding cwm I've not tested it, so Likely it will work.. Steven is still working on the cwm recovery & there is no point in me adding another cwm bootstrap recovery... Mine is just pure stock & works perfect.
I'm still weeding through the /bin /etc file's to find exactly what needs left...
but main goal was to provide an example of what is needed to make an update.zip with out breaking the system.
what exactly is the benefit of this new method?

Need help in testing

hey
I recently created an application called Android Recovery Manager
The version on the other thread is V1.0.
My sensation has been stolen, so for the moment I can't test future updates for the application, and I don't wanna give up on developing it...
I had plans for the next releases, and it really took me lots of efforts to finish it, so I'd like to know if anybody is interested in testing?
The update is ready for testing anyway
Tell me what you think
Thanks!
I am assuming from the name of the app you must be rooted and more than likely have Clockwork Mod Recovery on your device as well correct?

Not at all, you only need S-Off
The application manages your recoveries, it can flash any recovery you want.
You can either install a recovery image from your computer locally, or let the program download a recovery for you from the always up-to-date list of recoveries.
You can check the other post for screenshots and more info
Anybody?
10 char.
I don't mind testing it out for you.

So here is the download link.
Please extract the "RecoveryManager.exe" before using it as there will be files generated next to it.
So, I'll need you to install any recovery (Stock or Custom) and send me the log file when it has finished (You'll find an XML file in the Log folder in the same place as the application)
I hope I'm not asking a lot
Thanks
The application has been downloaded 2 times, can anybody tell me the results please?
test version
Downloaded two recovery files for the XE and flashed the CWM 5020 again on my device.
Rebooted into OS, no problems sofar.
The programm is selfexplaining and you can stop before flashing and think things over.
When I restart the programm and want to search for an recovery file on my HDD its going to the last folder I was using before,
thats OK

Yes, you can run this from the phone, but first you need to extract the rom.zip file.
Here's how it's done in Windows XP, I'm sure other versions of windows are similar.
1) Download the EXE file from this thread.
2) Run the EXE file on your pc
3) At first, the EXE is extracting all the necessary components. When you get the first dialog window that says "Welcome to the ROM Utility for your Android phone", stop there but do not close the window
4) Go to Start->Run and type: %TEMP% (that opens a new file explorer window)
5) In the new window, search for Rom.zip (you can use the magnifying glass to search)
6) Copy that Rom.zip file to your sd card, and flash the way you would flash any other rom.

I already have the PC36IMG extracted from this RUU - See the first link under "My Links" in my sig. It's been there since January 31st, in fact.
NOTE: You can't just flash it in recovery 'like you would any other rom' - it has to be flashed in Bootloader.

Which recovery are you using? You need cwm6+ or TWRP2.7+ without TLS
And if possible, give a log of the error
Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped.
I've tried a lot.
Clear data "Play Store" -> not fix.
I'm sorry maybe I should abandon rom.

You need at least 17mb on /system partition
rom that supports linux swap?

Which recovery are you using? You need cwm6+ or TWRP2.7+ without TLS
And if possible, give a log of the error

That recovery should work. Try January build, if you are on December one.
Secondly, the log you sent is of cm11 by mukulsoni's and not omega ROM

After the error, go to advance> copy log to sdcard.
And then send me the file clockworkmod>recovery.log
Or better use this TWRP 2.7.0.0 recovery by @HardLight from his thread

OK, I changed my recovery into TWRP2.7.0.0
But I still can't flash my ROM.
This is the new log file.

Weird, there's nothing to show the error. Just 'Error flashing zip '
Maybe you trimmed it wrong.
What did you do to trim?

I use 7zip(version 9.20, 64bit) to pack/unpack the ROM file.
Remove in:
\system\app: Email, Browser, LiveWallpapers, Exchange2, LiveWallpapersPicker, PicoTts, VideoEditor
\system\fonts: DroidSansFallback
That's all.
Is any possible I made some mistake when I repack the ROM?
I attached the screenshot of my 7zip pack setting.

Compression level to normal or none. And encryption to none.
If still doesn't work, try WinZip or default windows zip manager

I have tried all of them but no one works. Log attached.
I can flash the original beta9 zip, but I really need google play store.
Can you upload a new beta9 zip with trim? I have totally no idea to make my own trimmed-zip work. :crying:

I have created a script to trim the ROM. Hope it helps.
Just flash the the script after flashing the ROM.
I recommend the super_trim.zip

Stock rooted boots but WiFi appears to be broken. This was with a clean install. I will try stock debloated either tonight or tomorrow.

I forgot to ask on PM. Did you try forget and try your WiFi connection again? Like I said might be kernel related or system/etc/wifi files.
Root access / 3G/4G LTE work?
Can someone pull a logcat while trying to connect to WiFi.

I'm sorry but I already went back to stock. I did try the forget Wi-Fi password trick but still didn't help.
The limited time I was using it everything checked out good...root, 3g, 4g(very spotty for me, but it did connect).
My data is very limited so Wi-Fi is important for me. I will try the debloated tomorrow though. Do you think it will have the same Wi-Fi issue? If so, I will grab a logcat if no one else gets to it before me. I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow afternoon unfortunately though.
@VerneVerne sounds good. It might have the same issues.....also see if you can pull /cache/recovery/last_log after you flash the ROM. That can give me some insight on if I messed up the updater-script. (Invalid arguments)

Ahhh, you say updater script. Come to think of it there was something mentioned of a script being outdated and needing to be updated while flashing the rom. I'll be sure to find out what that says exactly when I can get back to testing later.

I need a new update-binary. It is legacy but still should work. Philz switches to a legacy environment for compatibility..... That a huge plus with using philz recovery.
Its outdated because it uses set_perm command. Newer binaries use set_metadata (for selinux support). I might have too cook up a newer script with a newer binary.
Huge thanks to @moonbutt74 - it was an updater-script issue. I missed a symlink command. I added that in and WiFi should work now. Just need the stock kernel pulled from the T237P if someone would be so kind.
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot of=/sdcard/boot.img
and send me the kernel img....please.
if not - drop /msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot and use the mmcblk0p(xx) use xx as the block number

Guys check your PM. I uploaded a fixed version to you guys for testing. If all is well, this thread can be moved to the Dev section and public download links.
Everyone else following this thread, please thank the testers above, without them there wouldn't be a ROM. :highfive::good:
Thank you! I was about to throw this thing in my box of shame next to my gtab2 ;p
Download links available for public release.
Just need someone to confirm init.d is working correctly.?
After that we can call this stable and move this thread to the Dev section.

Good to hear that we have recovery and custom rom for T237P!
I flash recovery, and download firmware now.
Rooted yesterday so far so good... Just need that free Hotspot going.
There are a few 3rd party apps that will do the job in the mean time.
