Have you arranged roaming with your SIM provider? Some need a call to set up overseas use.

You type better English than most Australians I know
To use your carriers data service, you will need to set up what are called 'APNs' on your phone. This installs the correct settings on your phone to access the internet.
Setting up APNs is very simple. Go into Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks. In here there is an option called 'Access Point Names'. If you tap on it, you're probably looking at a blank screen. This is where we can add your carrier's internet settings
What carrier are you using? We will need to locate the correct settings for you, before proceeding
Talk to you soon!
me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
don't know if this is the right place to ask, i'll try it anyway.
I would like to make a connection with my mobile network on my cellphone whilst on holiday in Turkey.
I was going to buy a turkish data sim card only to do just that.
However, as this is possible in almost every country, this appears not to be in Turkey. I read that the Turkish authorities block every cellphone which is not registered in Turkey, so even with a Turkish data sim, they would block the signal after a week.
Now I wonder...would it help if I do put a Turkish data sim in my (Belgian) phone and connect with a server in Turkey through a VPN ?
Would this be a solution or wouldn't it help at all ?
Is there another way to try and use my data connection to tether so I can use my tablet in my room ?
Thanks for a useful reply.

Hi
There of illegal importing is so high, Turkey blocks the phones according to IMEI number. When you use a Turkish sim-card your telephone will be blocked in 15 days.
I do not think that using a VPN account solves your problem, because as I said they are blocking according to IMEI number.
UPDATE
You should go to the sim card store that you buy. Turkcell, Avea, or Vodafone whatever it is, and they will record your IMEI in the Turkish system for free.
Foreigners do not have to pay anything for that.
I am on Verizon's More plan meaning I have free texting Canada. Just landed in Vancouver today and my phone fails to connect to any wireless network. I cannot hit global in the preferred type in mobile networks and also when I choose network operators CAN Rogers Wireless comes up, but it fails to connect when I attempt to connect to it.
Maybe I have to input different APN settings?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much.
Hello everyone,
I am from Europe, France, Using a sim card from Free Mobile. When i was in the US last week, i bought a Verizon Note 5, i saw on WillMyphonework, that it has the necessary bands to work with my network provider, and i checked the bands myself. the problem is that when getting home and putting my french sim card in, i can see the 3G, H, LTE text next to the network bars, but it is greyed out and i don't have access to internet through mobile data.
Has anyone had the same problem before ? is there a way to correct that ?
By the way, i put the apn information of my network provider, so it is not that.
Solved,
for those who have the same problem, update the apn setting then REBOOT the phone.
