Huawei Has Begun Rolling-Out EMUI9/Android Pie Globally - Huawei MediaPad M5 Guides, News, & Discussion

It is coming... Click Here For Link

Hope it is not the version that locks out third party launchers. I think that is only on Chinese models.

Agree, one article I read didn't explicitly say it was only for Chinese models. But I read here it was only for those models, so who knows.

The Nordics will begin testing early December for 64gb lte model and a release, if everything goes well, is 1-1. 5 months later.

In China there is a beta for Pie already. Let's hope it doesn't take much longer.

I say March \ April 2019. Do not expect too much from Huawei.

Sorry wrong thread

Prove it pls with a screenshot

will it come to M5?

Yes... If the service help desk can be trusted. But be aware that a lot of delays can happen

Just check firmware finder for the Chinese version. There is the Pie Update.

Waiting beta for sht-w09c432, i want it

See: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/huawei-honor-android-9-pie-update/
for new about the Pie rollout.
Then see: https://www.getdroidtips.com/mediapad-m5-8-android-9-0-pie/
for getting Pie before the OTA rollout. Note that only China is associated with a couple of the firmware listed; but the ....jp.zip could be for Japan & the ....eu.zip could be for Europe. Several ....cn.zip probably are for China.
No idea how any would work for USA versions.

I subscribed the test but don't have a confirmation. Still waiting since yesterday.

VPN for update?

Hey guys, so a friend of mine has a One Plus 3 but he didn't recived the update yet. So he utilized a vpn to connect to servers from Canada and UK and he got the update.
Has some one claimed that he got the update from sweden, if there are any possibility to connect to another area to look for that update. Specially in sweden

Sadly that won't work unless you have a device from that region or you're running the previous firmware from that region. The OP3 isn't region specific, so he can get the update from any region. The Honor 8 though has various models for each region of the world. (L04/L14 US, L09 EU, etc)

Ohh I see, thanks for responding. That is sad tho :/
You shouldn't need to connect to the device OEM's server via a VPN in order to get updates for your device. As OTA OS updates are sent to each device dependent on their model number and the regional OS settings.
if you know the update version just download it online and manually install it?

I read the thread but I'm out of luck cuz I don't have wifi no router near me. To complicated to do that.
:/
I don't know why everybody is in such a hurry to upgrade their OS from Marshmallow to Nougat. When Nougat is only available for a handful of devices at the moment. The majority of the other Nougat release are still in the Beta cycle and have numerous bugs that have yet to be addressed yet.

Just wait till you notice that allot of features that were in Marshmallow are missing in the Nougat Beta. While the performance maybe slightly better than Marshmallow. Nougat still isn't ready for retail use on the Honor 8 yet.

I haven't faced a single issue. Plus I'm not a guy for complaining about features. I buyer the Honor 8 because of speed. And that's what I'm getting.

It's because the Nougat on this phone means EMUI 5 and it's 10x better than EMUI 4.1 .. trust me
it's a much better phone on Nougat EMUI5 ( Even Beta) BTW I think the current B360 for the L04 is the final Beta.
It will go live in the next 4 or 5 weeks. (Huawei is really slow)

B360 is definitely a fully functional build. I have yet to find anything broken and it even includes Vulkan api. As said above, EMUI 5.0 is miles ahead of EMUI 4.1. It's a much better and cleaner looking UI.

over 5 months no upgrades on c567

anyone heard anything about c567 rom?
it has been 5 months no upgrades, even security patch.
is NA huawei still alive?
I agree. Other regions get it but not the NA model. Hopefully Oreo comes along soon and gets us updates. Feels like another Samsung scenario.
I've had 3 huawei devices. Mate 2,8,9
Traditionally, the NA device appears to be the LAST to get the updates.
Personally, other than security updates, it doesn't bother me, as the 2,8,9 have been
rock solid for what I do.
Would it be nice to have the latest, yeah I guess. It going to bother me personally not to have
the latest? Nope, not a bit.
only need security patch, system is good.

I guess you could rebrand to something else. I mean, Firmware are supposed to update each month (security patches) but apparently they forgot C567. Rebranding is a workaround until they remember C567 again I guess.
Did any of you try contacting Huawei and ask why?

Which rom has the latest security patch? Can I install it?

Hi all,
I have an MHA-L29 and it is currently running 8.0.0.360(C567). The security update is dated January 2018.
My company requires that my phone not have a security patch more than 90 days old. Is there a ROM compatible with MHA-L29 that has a newer security patch? What is the newest security patch available in any MHA-L29 ROM from Huawei, does anyone know?
And how likely am I to be able to install it? This is a retail US model phone, so far as I know.

It's better to buy other phone
Your requirement is too hard to satisfy.
You have US region and latest version is 8.0.0.360.
Even if Huawei will post new ROM need 2-3 weeks more to test and approve.
Additionally Mate 9 released at November 2016. 15 months ago. No guarantee that 8.0.0.360 is not last...
Ok. There are other regions with newer security patch, like C636. But you have to rebrand your device (unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, install patched recovery) - so beat your security. Sure, it is temporary, but in advance you have to rebrand back if region C636 will not post next ROM in 90 days...
As I know, region C00 (China) has latest security patch and regularly updates. Rebrand to C00 if you are not confusing by hieroglyphs and specific memory manager (it is very aggressive to background apps)
P.s. to rebrand when using Oreo you have to rollback on Nougat's ROM, then rebrand using oeminfo in HwOta, then upgrade to Oreo.
This way cause oeminfos from Oreo are different with Nougat's files.
Gotcha. Thanks!
I was afraid of that. I'm OK with Android and Linux in general, but I don't want to do a lot of hard, risky work over and over again just to keep my phone running. Company is recommending Google Pixel 2 or iPhone. Not exciting, but I'm getting too old and lazy to hack my Android devices once a month.
Thanks for your help!

I didn't received Pie till this moment (Germany) Latest update was only a security patch for Orego.
Last hope, that an update jump direct to 9.1

Spoke to Norwegian support, they said Android 9 would come, but they did not have a date yet.
According to the UK support the Mediapad M5 Lite is not scheduled to receive Android 9 upgrade, only confirmed for M5 and M5 Pro.
I will never buy a Huawei device again. Only a single Android version, what a shame...

I found the guide on romprovider.com (google romprovider.com huawei mediapad m5 lite jordan2), I cannot send the URL due to guest restrictions.

I also found a German guide to install custom ROMs. Just google "android-hilfe.de Custom Roms MediaPad M5 Lite".

Yes, thats my Guide.. But there are two different Tabs. One is main, it`s an BAH2-W19C432 and the new one is BAH2-W19C431. The guide in android-hilfe.de is only for BAH2-W19C432 cause maybe you need to revert your Firmware to an older one.

good to know mcc, thx for your guide, if I'll try it I'd like to add a specific topic on xda
Just to add a comment about tab versions and its latest firmware: I bought mine from Amazon.de for about 200 euros a couple weeks ago, and indeed it's the newer C431, running v215 firmware (still emui 8.0).
Pretty dumb, because it's my understanding that CUST 431 is for potentially-branded phones (not this) and 432 is the open, "unlocked" European version (should be this case). I heard C432 devices tend to get faster updates, so if anyone has information about switching my C431 to C432, I'm all ears.

Lg closed beta testing Pie in following variants

LMG710EM , LMG710EMW, LMG710AWM (Mostly Final for this variant),
Sources http://www.lgbbs.com.cn/plugin.php?id=lg_ota&search=LMG710
Update as on 30th May,
I can see 2 more Stable OTAs to LMG710VM - 20a & LMG710AWM 20a (CAN & USC) I believe US stable version will be released shortly. Others based on few reddit posts its possible that we may never see an update depending on the market.

I guess Indian variants will receive it by Dec 2019, similar to when Oreowas released for G6 last year.

For me it's look legit.
Dates etc.
I've got branded LG G7 (from Poland) and newest available FW is V10u - it's marked as 27 march and it's listed on that page also - I've got this file from different website.
I think there is a chance to obtain firmware from them - especially when they got V20a or V20b because they're final or almost final FW according to LG names and my personal expieriences with older LG smartphones.
Because major updates are always marked as a higher decimal number (V10>V20>V30 etc.) everything lower than V20 will be early/late betas, sometimes LG pushed minor releases with Vx5 in name, but there were none of this for G7 (they could update our phone to 8.1 Oreo [because they used that version as main build for LG G7 FIT or LG V40] - then it supose to be V15 update).
OFC LG could delay update and push something newer for us like V20c or even later FW, but don't be afraid V20 family is more or less complete and should be described as a final version A or B [or later] version will be mostly security updates due.
They're looking for 10 USD for FW, not so cheap for something that will be available for public download in near future.
After all if there is someone who can't live anymore with old firmware he's probably able to update it even now - and this is kinda worth it.
