Which rom has the latest security patch? Can I install it? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I have an MHA-L29 and it is currently running 8.0.0.360(C567). The security update is dated January 2018.
My company requires that my phone not have a security patch more than 90 days old. Is there a ROM compatible with MHA-L29 that has a newer security patch? What is the newest security patch available in any MHA-L29 ROM from Huawei, does anyone know?
And how likely am I to be able to install it? This is a retail US model phone, so far as I know.

It's better to buy other phone
Your requirement is too hard to satisfy.
You have US region and latest version is 8.0.0.360.
Even if Huawei will post new ROM need 2-3 weeks more to test and approve.
Additionally Mate 9 released at November 2016. 15 months ago. No guarantee that 8.0.0.360 is not last...
Ok. There are other regions with newer security patch, like C636. But you have to rebrand your device (unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, install patched recovery) - so beat your security. Sure, it is temporary, but in advance you have to rebrand back if region C636 will not post next ROM in 90 days...
As I know, region C00 (China) has latest security patch and regularly updates. Rebrand to C00 if you are not confusing by hieroglyphs and specific memory manager (it is very aggressive to background apps)
P.s. to rebrand when using Oreo you have to rollback on Nougat's ROM, then rebrand using oeminfo in HwOta, then upgrade to Oreo.
This way cause oeminfos from Oreo are different with Nougat's files.

Gotcha. Thanks!
I was afraid of that. I'm OK with Android and Linux in general, but I don't want to do a lot of hard, risky work over and over again just to keep my phone running. Company is recommending Google Pixel 2 or iPhone. Not exciting, but I'm getting too old and lazy to hack my Android devices once a month.
Thanks for your help!

over 5 months no upgrades on c567

anyone heard anything about c567 rom?
it has been 5 months no upgrades, even security patch.
is NA huawei still alive?
I agree. Other regions get it but not the NA model. Hopefully Oreo comes along soon and gets us updates. Feels like another Samsung scenario.
I've had 3 huawei devices. Mate 2,8,9
Traditionally, the NA device appears to be the LAST to get the updates.
Personally, other than security updates, it doesn't bother me, as the 2,8,9 have been
rock solid for what I do.
Would it be nice to have the latest, yeah I guess. It going to bother me personally not to have
the latest? Nope, not a bit.
only need security patch, system is good.

I guess you could rebrand to something else. I mean, Firmware are supposed to update each month (security patches) but apparently they forgot C567. Rebranding is a workaround until they remember C567 again I guess.
Did any of you try contacting Huawei and ask why?

C432 last officialy issued FW

All,
I am struggeling a bit with all the FW's available from various sources....Can anybody let me know, which was the latetst officialy OTA issued Orea FW update for the European Mate 9 (L29C432)?
Thx!
All,
posted this question some time ago, unfortunatelly without any reply.....I've never got any OTA update since I do own the Mate 9 (fully stock, currently on 8.0.0.365 C432) therefore I run all updates manually through FF.....as FF always have a certain delay in getting FW's approved, I would like to know whitch version is the latest officiall released one and send via OTA by Huawei.
Thx!!
I think Huawei is stopping support for the Mate 9. MHA-L09C432 variant had its last update to Oreo 8.0 with January 2018 Security Patch.
No, received an OTA update 8.0.0.364 C432 on my Mate 9 with security patch Feb 2018 which is faster than my Mate 10, that one is still on the Jan 2018 patch...

That is just rubbish. With treble support updates should come continuously. I installed 8.0.0.364 yesterday via FF.

Stop supporting mate 9? ? This guy dont know what he talking about
i have received new update 366 (OTA) yesterday, From ITALY
I also got the 366 OTA a couple of days (Portugal). Updated phone to March Android security patch level.
Yep, received the OTA on my Mate 9 and the Mate 9 of my wife...8.0.0.366 C432, Mate 9 now is on the same security patch level as my Mate 10 both on the March patch.
Update to 8.0.0.368 was available in FF for me.

Likewise. May security patch.
369 is now also listed.

I just installed 368 from OTA update. Face unlock, some App Store app from Huawei and May security update.
EMUI also seems different but version is still 8.0.0. After the update I lost configuration of the app icons / pages I had across 3 pages and I had to add the icons back to home screen (not sure if "home screen" is the correct name). For instance, the folder app icons are now different on how they appear and work.
I also found a settings menu where I can configure the home screen like change the effect how the pages transition between them but not sure if this is something new or I just didn't knew I could configure this.
All in all a good update... Thanks Huawei! Can you please now work on releasing Oreo 8.1 and especially fixing the Bluetooth bug? E.g., when I'm listening to YouTube in the car, the video titles don't show up correctly in the radio's screen. In Nougat it worked flawlessly. Appreciated
Yep, received also the 368 OTA update on the Mate 9...my Mate 10 is running behind (again).
Yeah, got the .368 now too.

No more updates since Oreo arrived C432

I have a Mate 9 C432 European version.
I install Oreo through Firmware Finder, so I have right now B363.
Through Firmware Finder I can see that the Firmware version is on B367, but newer software is not approved, and the phone always says that I have the last version of software.
I'm still on January security patch.
Is this normal? How can I update to a new version, B367 for example? The C432 officially it's still on January security patch?
You have to wait for Huawei to approve your IMEI number or use the HWOTA8 method. I would wait a bit and see what happens.
I have the same device. Yesterday I received OTA 364 - log states update due to Google system security. I'm now on February Android security patch level.
Same situation here with c432 b363. So much for Treble giving us quick security updates.
364 is not approved for me yet.
364 to 367 is not approved.... It's sad that Oreo was a quick update for a skin device like the Mate 9 but security patch, that is pretty important...
I know I could use FunkyHuawei...
Just got 364 w/ February 5 security update. Just 119Mb upgrade from 363.
My Oreo is still 8.0.0.342.

Welcome to XDA......
I got 364 a few days ago as well. New firmware that get approved for mass release usually take around a month before Huawei gets confident about approving them.
Just got the B364. The importance of the security patch is to get them monthly but February patch is better then nothing.
Yeah, got the B364 too. It surely is better than no updates, I'm personally okay with this update pace; security updates a month late isn't too bad.
Installed 8.0.0.364 yesterday via FF in-app proxy. FF is already showing 8.0.0.368 but no approved so far.
But will be approve?
Installed 8.0.0.342(C00) via OTA several days ago.

Any OTA after 8.0.0.130(C432)?

Hello,
I recieved my UK model of Honor V10 (BKL-L09) today which is on firmware 8.0.0.130(C432) out of the box with Jan security updates. Is this the latest? (I've checked the updates manually several times but nothing!)
I think I've read somewhere that March security patches have been dispatched but I can't remember where I read this.
I still didn't install the sim card yet as I'll need to buy a new one from the shop tomorrow but I'm not sure if this has any influence on having any OTA update showing up.
P.S. Firmware finder didn't find anything!
Also, I'd like to know an approximate date for Official Oreo 8.1 + EMUI 8.1 ROM for European models (as it is the case with the USA models which are on these latest versions out of the box)

Has Mate 9 reached dead end?

Last update was released since 29 July, does this mean Huawei dumped the phone development?
It is real unfortunate to know because the phone is really a beast and working flawlessly till 9.1...

yes, dev for mate9 is dead
I was able to update to 9.0 and the phone is so smooth still. I'm not sure what to get next. I like the screen size and shape and the other phones that are over 6" have a thin screen so video is actually smaller. Oh well...

Frankly, I don't see that one on FF (MHA-L29C432)
I have c432 but I'm in the USA so maybe I won't get it unless I have a euro sim card? When I used FF it starts to walk me through downloading the file but changing the routers mac or something maybe to trick the phone into thinking it's in Europe...
Hi guys
I hope i am posting in the correct place but i have the single sim version of the mate 9 and would like to rebrand it to the dual sim version, i am based in south africa.I checked some youtube videos on how to do it but i need to have the bootloader unlock code, apparently huawei has stopped users from obtaining the code, is there any other way of obtaining the code or is there any other way of rebranding to MHA - L29 which has the dual sim option.

The way and the price to obtain BL code, but also the way how to rebrand HEAVILY depend on what is your current EMUI version.
(,If you don't care about that and just follow some YT guide, you can brick the phone)
So, what is exactly
- EMUI version in Settings/System/About
- also from Settings/System/About, what is the month and year of the Security patch
See the attach

Unfortunately, you are not on Nougat or Oreo 6/2018 or older to make things cheaper and easier
See this answer (yesterday, last in the thread):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...e-firmware-versions-gpu-t3917826/post80486637
If you go with their Telegram group service (cca 30 EU), you should ask them to rebrand - IMO, they will do it (they have to flash some firmware upon erasing by Testpoints, anyway).
They flash remotely, you have to provide TeamViewer connection
If you go for your own (also by Testpoints) you will have to use (VM and) Linux, you will have to find (maybe pay for some) drivers and board firmware.
Shortly: you would have to downgrade to eg Nougat as described there, then to buy BL code for 4 EU from DC Phoenix, then to rebrand (there is an older thread here on XDA about rebranding Mate 9 with Nougat or Oreo Sec Patch 6/2018 or older), and finally to upgrade back to Pie
If you search for Ministry of Solutions, they can do the same/similar thing for you (requiring also to open the phone and use Testpoints, and TeamViewer) but they will ask more, about 45 EU
You could also search and explore Chimera and FunkyHuawei services, but AFAIK, they will cost even more.
With Chimera, you would not even have Bootloader code at the end to reuse, if ever needed
