Hey everyone,
I foolishly deleted Google Phone from my phone on One UI and now, when I check the Play Store, it is not even listed. I also have Light Flow installed and had to revert to the legacy app for a phone on Android 6.0 or older. I believe although this is Android 9.0, it's somehow registering as something considerably older.
Any ideas on a phone APK that will install? I tried a few from APK Mirror but none of them would install. I also tried the new Pixel dialer and the same results.
In the worst case, I'll just continue to use the Samsung stock dialer, but would really prefer the Google on, especially since the icons look better using the new Pixel Launcher.
Thanks!
**Edit** I don't know how to delete this thread so instead, I'll link to the new pixel dialer that worked for me on Android Pie Beta after I deleted Google Phone and it was found to be incompatible on media fire searching for Google_Phone_8.0.148481159__Patched__%281%29.apk
I'm on ZRJ9 Pie Beta and the newest v26 from this thread is working for me just fine

I made a mistake in updating to the latest Google Maps 7.0.2 last night and it is just horrendous. Slow performance, missing features, and overall disappointing. I've been looking around for a previous apk of the Google Maps 6.14.X editions and came upon Android Drawer Repository website. Has anyone used their website to download apks to roll back to a previous app version? Note that although I did find someone posting their modded version on here I'd rather have the vanilla apk if possible. Comments? Suggestions?
The APK's are working. Just downloaded v. 6.14.3. Works great without any issues.
Hello ;0)
I noticed a strange behaviour on my Nexus 5 (or maybe Google changed something?):
On my Nexus 4 I had an option in the settings of Google Now to activate some apps that I could search "within" the Google Search. All I had to do was to activate them and then, on the bottom of the search results, I would swipe the small bar to the right till I got to the phone entry and it would show me search results from the specified apps and I could open the app from there and it would take me to the result within the app.
For example: A search for "Sarah Miche" would pop up as "Sarah Michelle Gellar" with an imdb and a wikipedia icon, I clicked that and the wikipedia/imdb app would start and open the page about Sarah Michelle Gellar.
I quite liked that and used it a lot...
On my Nexus 5 however the option is gone. The settings are still there. In Google Now under settings-phone search but it just enables me to search apps/Chrome Beta/Contacts/Play Movies. And "apps" will just allow me to search for apps I installed on my phone not to search "inside" those apps. (See screenshots)
So I thought "Meeehhhhh, f****. They removed a feature I really liked. Guess I have to live with that..."
Now for the strange part:
I installed google search and GEL on my tablet (running Android 4.3) an the option is still there (but it´s called "tablet-search" and "tablet")
AND IT´S WORKING... (See screenshots) Same freaking Google-Search build, same freaking GEL-build....
Am I doing something wrong ?!?!? Does my phone hate me ? What´s up with that ?
Any help would be appreciated ;0)
Thanks ...
P.s.: Sorry my phone and my tablet are in german but you should get the picture ;0)
Same here, I don't even have "Chrome Beta" in the list.
But therein probably lies the answer: Google changed the way how Apps can "apply" to be shown in this list and not even the latest stock Chrome version has this feature yet (but the newer Beta does).
Also it seems to be a problem for the new GEL only, the list still works properly on my N10 with Google Search 3.1.8.x.
I've read mention of a new API for this functionality and that devs need to apply it to their apps. Just weird that Google itself hasn't applied it to all their apps.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
And that it still works on my tablet... ;0(

Think you can find more info on that? As a developer I'd like to know, as my app uses the global search feature and it stopped working recently.

Any news on this?
On a side note, I created a question on Stackoverflow with the same issue.
On my nexus 7 2012 I installed the 3.1 from the Nexus 5 a few weeks ago. After a reset of Google Search data the tablet search broke like on your Nexus 5...but I only noticed it when I upgraded to kitkat. I obviously thought it was kitkat the problem until today.
The problem is how Google Search 3.x handles the list. There must be a bug of some sort.
Here's why:
On my htc one s with cm10.2 (4.3) I reset the data of Search 3.1.8 to try something only to discover that the Phone Search list was almost empty like on my tablet!
I uninstalled it and the 2.6.7 version was restored from /system/app. The phone search list was full now, even after I updated to 3.1.8.
So, basically, if you open Google Search 2.x and then you update to 3.x the list will be there like it always did.
Who updated to kitkat without resetting the data won't have any problems (or whoever update to 3.1.8 on any phone\tablet without data reset)

I found this commit in AOSP, which might be related:
https : // android.googlesource.com/platform/packages/apps/QuickSearchBox/+/ecf356c15143ab0583c64682de16d94a57f7dd1c
The commit message tells us that this feature was removed due to performance reasons (which might or might not be true, given that it references an internal ticket id and I didn't find a public issue here about this).
Since this part of the quicksearchbox is included in the ROM and released with Android 4.4, it doesn't matter which version of Google-Search you have installed. As long as you have updated to Android Kitkat 4.4 or newer, you won't be able to search the contentproviders of installed apps.
Nevertheless, I found this nifty, but ugly and ad-driven little app, which mimics device-search:
https : // play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.startapp.quicksearchbox
You should decline the initial request and ignore its Android 2.x-ugliness, though.
It takes some getting used to, but it works.

was a very usefull option :crying::crying::crying:
Hello I have installed Archidroid 2.5 ROM, but I have a problem with the research on the phone.
When I enter in the settings of google and now I open the page "search on the phone" there is no app is completely empty.
So I can not look in the app Email.
I think this problem is related to the app Google now.
So there is no way to make it work on the Cyano rom based?
Possible solution
Try to uninstall Google Search and do a update from Google Play. Worked for me.
So I was looking at a friend of mines phone today (its some mediatek based knock off of an LG G3) anyway, I was installing Google Now Launcher and some stock apps with her play store updated in the middle of it, before, it was the regular one like everyone else has, then I opened it back up to get Google Keyboard, and I found it was completely different, it had a very similar design to the Google App, the search bar was exactly like on the google search app and it had a new card style layout, I was wondering if anyone else has gotten this update, if not, I'll try to pull the APK from her phone tomorrow when I see her at work.
Edit: was only able to find one article on it and its old, strange that the change is server side not client, but it looks nice http://www.phonearena.com/news/Google-Play-Store-gets-updated-Google-Search-bar_id66253
Mine just updated to the new one a few minutes ago.
Just opened the play store and saw I got it. Loving the animations in the search bar!
Sent from my HTC One M8
also just received the update. Looks nice
I've successfully installed Google Dialer from APK Mirror, it even updates using Play Store (now I'm on version 14.0.176716531) I gave it all permissions, set up as default call app and it works almost flawlessly. Almost, because there is few second ringtone delay on incoming call, maybe 3-4 second. Not really deal breaker for me but annoying thing.
Anyone faced with such problem?
Does your in-call time counter works normally? Mine displays millions of minutes...
Thanks! & Some Help...
Hi Rufik,
That was very helpful. I got -- Google Phone 7.0.140861421-nonnexus (noarch) (nodpi) (Android 6.0+) -- from APKMirror. And it works great on my Huawei Mate 9 (L29) running OEM Android 7.0 from the factory.
One problem with Google Phone 7.0.140861421 is notification bubbles... sometimes they work and sometimes not. Any suggestions to get them to work?
Also, how were you able to get Google Phone 7.0.140861421 to upgrade to 14.0.176716531. I can not get past 7.0.140861421. I have tried newer Google Dialers/Phones and they will not install on my Mate 9. Any suggestions? What versions should I look for? Also, how were you able to get the Play Store OTA upgrade to the Google Phone? I have tried, but no success.
Best Regards,
Jim
Sorry for link, it points to old version 7.
Navigate to newest version 14 nodpi arm64 https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...le-phone-14-0-176716531-android-apk-download/ and install it.
Please let me know if it works fine, especially ringtone possible delay.
@N100GL You can also install v14 version but previous build, like https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-14-0-175904292-release/ and check if you can update from Play Store (do a restart after installation!).
Thanks - But Does Not Work
Thank youd for your quick reply and your help!
No don't be sorry -> Google Phone 7.0.140861421-nonnexus (noarch) (nodpi) (Android 6.0+) -> works just fine. The only issue is that it is old and the bubble alerts.
The other two link you listed above, do not install on my phone (Mate 9 L29 Android 7.0 factory OS). They get all the to the last step of installation and then it says "This app is not compatible with your phone." They start the installation process, and can see the Google Phone 7.0.140861421 already installed, they agree to do an update, but choke in the end.
Now the Google phone apps that I have been able to run on my phone are the "-nonnexus (noarch) (nodpi)" APK files. I have not been able to get any of the (arm64) or (arm) and (nodpi) to run on my phone. There seems to be something special with the "-nonnexus (noarch)" files, but I don't what it is.
Am I missing something? Should I try something else? Thanks in advance.
I remember that I flashed (TWRP) Google Dialer Support Framework from here according to this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-dialer-t3557412 (Workaround section). Give it a try and report please.
Thanks Rufik!
Actually, I found the same article last night and downloaded + installed the Google Phone APK 11.0.164102751 -- and it work great.
No problems what so ever... other than the lack of missed-call and voicemail notification bubbles. I have heard that this might be a Nougat problem, which is fixed in Oreo. I am using Nova Launcher and Tesla Unread, which is great for notification bubbles on every other application, except for Google Phone - which does not seem to display the bubbles. Google Phone used display (with and without Nova Launcher + Tesla Unread) the notification bubbles just fine, but not on version 7.xxxx or 11.xxxxx. Any thoughts or suggestions?
The only version I tried is v14. No problem with call log or missed calls. No problem with contacts also.
I suggest you to try v13 or v14 and give it all possible permissions. Older versions could have problems you described.
I don't care about bubbles edition, sorry.
Some idea - the ability to install Google Dialer form play store depends on Google Dialer Support Framework. Try to flash it (twrp), restart and check play store.

Yes, the same here. But I don't care about it. The only problem is ringtone delay for me, it forces me to drop Google Dialer and use stock one (that I don't like).
OK, it looks like after update to Oreo (8.0.0.361) delay is gone, Google Dialer v15 (patched, from xda) works fine for me
Edit: I've managed to flash Google Dialer Support Framework and then install Dialer from Play Store successfully. Framework is from Open GApps Android 8.0 ARM64 (pico edition), just repacked to my twrp flashable zip. Works only with Oreo (tested on my C432 8.0.0.361).
When we get Magisk working on Oreo then I'll make magisk module
I recently switched to the Oneplus 7 Pro, updated to Android 10 and to my surprise, the calls made through WhatsApp and other similar apps can now be routed through Gear S3.
I also tested this on Pixel XL running Android 10 and so I assume it should work on all Android 10 devices.
Just wanted to let you guys know in case it hasn't been mentioned already.

Can you tell me how you got your plugin working?? I'm on a Pixel XL and it keeps telling me to check my software and update. I couldn't install from the play store it said my device was incompatible. So I downloaded the app but I get the update message... Any help would be amazing! Can't use my watch at all...

Hmm. Never ran into that issue. Maybe try hiding magisk manager and also using magisk hide for the three apps related to gear S3.
Also, in my case, the apps were available on the play store.
Are you sure you're using the latest apks?
Running Lineage 17 ROM may have been the issue as it was incompatible in the Play Store. Found a solution today figured I'd post it here as this was a top link for my search and hopefully it will help others.
Reset your watch and remove all Samsung related apps from your phone.
Install these two APK's and your back in business

https://www.dropbox.com/s/en5dco911boyu17/watchmanager_2.2.27.apk?dl=0
For me, these plugins were incompatible in the Play store and many others I tried did not work. Only these 2 versions got me up and running again, so I figured I'd share them from my DB to hopefully help others.
