Google Dialer - ringtone delay - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I've successfully installed Google Dialer from APK Mirror, it even updates using Play Store (now I'm on version 14.0.176716531) I gave it all permissions, set up as default call app and it works almost flawlessly. Almost, because there is few second ringtone delay on incoming call, maybe 3-4 second. Not really deal breaker for me but annoying thing.
Anyone faced with such problem?

Does your in-call time counter works normally? Mine displays millions of minutes...

Thanks! & Some Help...
Hi Rufik,
That was very helpful. I got -- Google Phone 7.0.140861421-nonnexus (noarch) (nodpi) (Android 6.0+) -- from APKMirror. And it works great on my Huawei Mate 9 (L29) running OEM Android 7.0 from the factory.
One problem with Google Phone 7.0.140861421 is notification bubbles... sometimes they work and sometimes not. Any suggestions to get them to work?
Also, how were you able to get Google Phone 7.0.140861421 to upgrade to 14.0.176716531. I can not get past 7.0.140861421. I have tried newer Google Dialers/Phones and they will not install on my Mate 9. Any suggestions? What versions should I look for? Also, how were you able to get the Play Store OTA upgrade to the Google Phone? I have tried, but no success.
Best Regards,
Jim

Sorry for link, it points to old version 7.
Navigate to newest version 14 nodpi arm64 https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...le-phone-14-0-176716531-android-apk-download/ and install it.
Please let me know if it works fine, especially ringtone possible delay.
@N100GL You can also install v14 version but previous build, like https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-14-0-175904292-release/ and check if you can update from Play Store (do a restart after installation!).

Thanks - But Does Not Work
Thank youd for your quick reply and your help!
No don't be sorry -> Google Phone 7.0.140861421-nonnexus (noarch) (nodpi) (Android 6.0+) -> works just fine. The only issue is that it is old and the bubble alerts.
The other two link you listed above, do not install on my phone (Mate 9 L29 Android 7.0 factory OS). They get all the to the last step of installation and then it says "This app is not compatible with your phone." They start the installation process, and can see the Google Phone 7.0.140861421 already installed, they agree to do an update, but choke in the end.
Now the Google phone apps that I have been able to run on my phone are the "-nonnexus (noarch) (nodpi)" APK files. I have not been able to get any of the (arm64) or (arm) and (nodpi) to run on my phone. There seems to be something special with the "-nonnexus (noarch)" files, but I don't what it is.
Am I missing something? Should I try something else? Thanks in advance.

I remember that I flashed (TWRP) Google Dialer Support Framework from here according to this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-dialer-t3557412 (Workaround section). Give it a try and report please.

Thanks Rufik!
Actually, I found the same article last night and downloaded + installed the Google Phone APK 11.0.164102751 -- and it work great.
No problems what so ever... other than the lack of missed-call and voicemail notification bubbles. I have heard that this might be a Nougat problem, which is fixed in Oreo. I am using Nova Launcher and Tesla Unread, which is great for notification bubbles on every other application, except for Google Phone - which does not seem to display the bubbles. Google Phone used display (with and without Nova Launcher + Tesla Unread) the notification bubbles just fine, but not on version 7.xxxx or 11.xxxxx. Any thoughts or suggestions?

The only version I tried is v14. No problem with call log or missed calls. No problem with contacts also.
I suggest you to try v13 or v14 and give it all possible permissions. Older versions could have problems you described.
I don't care about bubbles edition, sorry.

Some idea - the ability to install Google Dialer form play store depends on Google Dialer Support Framework. Try to flash it (twrp), restart and check play store.

Yes, the same here. But I don't care about it. The only problem is ringtone delay for me, it forces me to drop Google Dialer and use stock one (that I don't like).

OK, it looks like after update to Oreo (8.0.0.361) delay is gone, Google Dialer v15 (patched, from xda) works fine for me
Edit: I've managed to flash Google Dialer Support Framework and then install Dialer from Play Store successfully. Framework is from Open GApps Android 8.0 ARM64 (pico edition), just repacked to my twrp flashable zip. Works only with Oreo (tested on my C432 8.0.0.361).
When we get Magisk working on Oreo then I'll make magisk module

Suicide inducing Dialer App

Ahem...
Let me start by saying that this device is definitely up there with the finest when it comes to build quality. I mean, this thing is smooth, beautifully machined, great screen, great sound quality, ad nauseam etc etc...
But! The dialer app looks like it's rendered in Netscape Navigator (yeah, I'm old). Not only is it impractical as F**K but why does it not default to my Favorites like every single modern phone out there?
Why does it insist to always show the SIM slot number next to every single contact entry, even though I only have one of those creepy micro soul/wallet suckers?
Why is the incoming call such a nightmarish affair and don't even get me started on the ongoing call screen. Ho God, the buttons, where have they hidden all the buttons?? Ho the humanity (or lack thereof in this case)...
Honestly, this thing creeps me out! I've started to dread the time when I hear my ringtone and just start doing my little mantra: please let it go to voice mail, please please please... You get the idea.
I'm like a phreaking Freddy Kruger victim, can't fall asleep or IT will ring!!!
In short... And yes, I understand the thread could be a lot less tl;dr, has anyone tried to sideload the Google phone app?
Many thanks in advance.

Pixel dial app, you might not be able to use this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.dialer
I don't want to recommend another I haven't used but there are about a hundred in the store.

Thanks for the recommendation but yeah, it's classified as "not compatible" with device.
I've tried/read about a bunch of others and most push data to their servers (contacts list, etc).
Been reading about past efforts on other HTC devices to use the Gdialer but it seems to crash, a lot.
To get the google dialer, your best bet is to use magisk and install the google framework to be able to install it off the playstore.
I've done it on my htc 10 and it seems to work perfectly fine (tried it with stock rom, "stock" rom, and with leedroid which has the option in aroma installer to use it from the getgo) I definitely won't change it back and will probably do the same thing once I get my u11+

i've installed several versions of the Google Dialer on my rooted U11+ and they all FC when i attempt to open the app. I installed the framework zip and included the Magisk module but no luck getting it to work. attached is a Logcat specific to the Google Phone app: not sure this is enough info or in the right format; however, i would appreciate an interpretation of the issue from someone more knowledgeable than me. thanks.

Judging only from past experience with another phone, you need to make sure to set the google dialer as the default dialer app in the settings, and of course also allow permissions for the app.

agreed. i should have mentioned that all permissions were set and the app was set as the default Phone app. no luck though, it still FCs when i launch the app (Google Phone). thanks for your reply.
Try this one of you have Google framework installed : https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-7-0-140861421-nonnexus-release/
Then, update it via play store. The only message I get is that my phone is incompatible when I start the app but it's working anyway.

thanks, but i tried that route already. version 7 works with an occassional freeze. updating to the the newest version via the Play Store works, but the newly installed (v15) Google Dialer app still FC's when i launch the dialer to make a call. one reason i need to use the Google Dialer is because press-and-hold the #1 on the htc dialer does not dial my voicemail. voicemail number is configured but it doesn't work with the htc phone app. works just fine with the Truecaller and Google Dialer. currently using a combination of Truecaller (using dialer to initate calls) and the Google Dialer app for in-call activity (set as default Phone app): i initiate a call via Truecaller and it connects using Google Dialer. Using SwiftBlack substratum theme for both apps.
Is there any way to install the Google Dialer app without root on a Dual SIM U11+ ?
I tried all the official versions 7.x-8.1 from APK Mirror and none of them could install, incompatibility error during install.
Is there any other possibility with G Dialer ?
OR an alternative dialer from Play Store ?

Tried that version as well and it freezes when I open it. The other version 15 FCs on my U11+. Error in logcat says "ActivityTrigger: activityStartTrigger: not whiteListedcom.google.android.dialer/com.google.android.dialer.extensions.GoogleDialtactsActivity/2015437" and I have no idea what this means.

@Galactus thanks for replying. i believe i resolved my issue: it was a permissions issue that - for some reason - the request to approve did not appear when i installed version 15 (from apkmirror) on my device. i decided to factory reset my device add my google account (so i can use the nearby places feature), then install Google Dialer V15. i get the "This device is not supported ..." nag at first launch of the dialer, but that's ok. so far, all is working well and i'm good to go now. stopped working...ugh!

You can try other version here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-phone-v14-0-175904292-bubble-t3708218
Set up to be default app. It will work well. Sometimes it is stuck but not at all.
Use for 1 sim. Dual sim version in the future.

How to get Google Phone back on One UI?

Hey everyone,
I foolishly deleted Google Phone from my phone on One UI and now, when I check the Play Store, it is not even listed. I also have Light Flow installed and had to revert to the legacy app for a phone on Android 6.0 or older. I believe although this is Android 9.0, it's somehow registering as something considerably older.
Any ideas on a phone APK that will install? I tried a few from APK Mirror but none of them would install. I also tried the new Pixel dialer and the same results.
In the worst case, I'll just continue to use the Samsung stock dialer, but would really prefer the Google on, especially since the icons look better using the new Pixel Launcher.
Thanks!
**Edit** I don't know how to delete this thread so instead, I'll link to the new pixel dialer that worked for me on Android Pie Beta after I deleted Google Phone and it was found to be incompatible on media fire searching for Google_Phone_8.0.148481159__Patched__%281%29.apk
I'm on ZRJ9 Pie Beta and the newest v26 from this thread is working for me just fine

Google Play Store on Chinese OP 7 Pro?

So my OnePlus 7 Pro arrived today and I'm having problems with getting Play Store working on my phone. Apparently there already have been google services on my phone, thanks to what I could install gmail or google chrome and use them without problems, however there's no playstore. Before, I used to download google package installer from Chinese app market but this time it shows as if I already had everything installed which is strange.
So I downloaded apk for the playstore from the internet which apparently broke my apps using google play services and had to factory reset phone and I'm not sure how to get it working.
Has anyone dealt with it?

I'm not sure if I'll be asked to log into my google immediately after reboot. And I wouldn't be able to do it without setting a vpn connection. So I don't want to end up with useless phone till I leave China.
I'm not sure if that google verification or connection at least is needed to correct me if I'm wrong

Hi! I am fighting with this issue for over a week now
You can change Oxygen to Hydrogen Global version to remove Google Services lock
[simply by downloading global version from the OP website and installing it through the local upgrade],
but it comes with the price:
Text Messages are not graphical anymore
No Spam/Advert calls warnings
There's no access to the OP Market which is quite essential if you're living in China
So it seems like there is no way to have everything from the both words in one phone...?
ps: Greetings from GZ
Apkpure
Hi,
I just bought a OP7 (not pro) from JD.com and just realized as well there was no Play store.
Actually I was able to download it from m.apkpure.com and it worked like a charm (of course VPN required). Hope it works for you too.
Cheers,

New P40 Pro owner. Canadian edition. I have a few questions

So, I have not had to do any roms of apks in a few years.... so I have a few questions, please and thank you!!
Is there a rom that already has the playstore installed? So I can have gmail etc much easier with updates etc...
or am I better off installing indivual apk files for the apps I want? If so, where do I get legit apk files, current apk files....
I hope and assume, I can make this bell p40 pro... work like a normal android phone.
Thanks for your patience and please, let me know
I'm with Telus. Googlefier makes it easier to install Play Store, but keep in mind Google Pay will not work. You will also have to 'downgrade' your EMUI to v .131 to install Google services - follow this guide.
Now, to get EMUI updates working again, I had to force the update to .148. The updates kicked in and now I'm on EMUI 11. I'm not sure if Bell will operate the same, but I'm guessing this may be the case for you too.
Overall, things are working very well, but I do miss Google Pay. Android Auto works fine, and I'm able to restore all of my Google Play purchases. 'Hey Google' doesn't work, but Google Assistant does.
Hope that helps to start.

Huawei P40 Lite / JNY-LX1 - Google Services problem

Hello, excuse me posting this wall of text but I have some problems with my P40 Lite / JNY-LX1. Let me explain to you how all problems started:
- I have bought the phone with some firmware, I think it was emui11 or so (I can't remember the exact version), almost 2 years ago. To install Google Play Services, I had to rollback to 10.0.1.167. Everything worked perfectly, done with HiSuite back then, the install of GPS was done with Googlefier app, everything worked from the first try, notifications and all apps. Even the updates to G.P. Services and G.P. Store were up to date to the latest versions, even the firmware was to the latest 12.0.0.237 (emui12). Time passed by till 4 days ago when I had to change my Google Account password, I did that on my Desktop. Now using the phone became a mess because google logged me out of my account requesting the new password. When I tried to log back in the account the app would crash or throw out errors like Can't reach google servers or something like that.
- The first tought of it was to downgrade again to 10.0.1.167. For the beginning I had to use HiSuite to downgrade to 10.1.0.399, then I had to use the dload otg cable method cause the install won't proceed. Everything fine, downgraded to 167 with success.
- Installed again the Googlefier app downloaded from apkmirror and proceed to install GPServices. Somehow I managed to install it by using the ictfix method, managed to get rid of the errors. But now, the Google Play Store and the Google Play Services would update themselves to the latest versions after a few hours (10hrs or so) which makes them show the all time "This device isn't Play Protect certified". To solve this error I have to reinstall the GPServices app and GPStore again.
-I tried to do it with airplane mode on, internet off, different versions of the GPServices app, with the "Auto-Update apps - Don't update apps" settings in the store checked in, but still after a few hours the apps update themselves to the latest versions.
-- Apologies for making you read this wall of text but I wanted to make sure you understand my problems. Now my question is: Does anybody know a solution for this problem? Something to stop the apps updating to the latest versions? I have to say that this thing happens even if stay on 167 or if I upgrade to emui12.
Many thanks to all of you who took from their times to read this !!
I had the same issue with the This device isnt play protect certified, i basically used the newest ictfix.net method to get rid of it, its basically a mix of Google Play Services Apks and a mix of erasing google play apps data to make it work..
https://ictfix.net/google-for-huawei/ go to this link and select /5/9/2022/ APKCOMBO. Follow this tutorial.

I did this but it comes up again after 24hrs or so. The only fix i have figured out is to use an older version of google play services, this way it won't update itself back to the newest that shows up device is not certified. The only problem i have with it is that instagram message notification won't show up, and push notifications for ig and some other apps not all, come up with delay.
