Any Way or App to Increase Screen-On Time? - Huawei Watch 2

Any Way or App to Increase Screen-On Time? Current choices:
* Few Seconds Screen-On time, about 5 seconds, TOO SHORT
* Permanent Screen-On, TOO LONG and too many steps to toggle on/off
Would like to be able to set screen-on to 30 seconds or 1 minute. Possible by any settings or shortcut or app or whatever way?

for watchfaces, many many .... watchfaces has a setup for increase the defaut screen timeout. (Ex Ultimate Watch 2 (W03 watchfaces and certainly hundred others))

StayLit Wear will do this for you.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sk.martinflorek.wear.feelthewear
I use Feel the wear, allows you to configure screen on time, screen on with notification, vibrate on disconnect (fantastic if you are prone to leaving your phone behind) plus extras like hourly chime and more

OK guys, thanks, fab stuff, I bought all 3.
I bought Ultimate Watch 2, so much config for so little money, $1, my watchface now
Screen on config from the phone app: in Content Settings Panel: Advanced (bottom) Then sync (top right icon) phone with watch

Feel the Wear, also has many options, screen on/off delay config is premium feature.
StayLit is also good and cheap as it goes beyond 1 minute and can be used on any watchface.
Please keep suggestions coming specially any free app for others not wanting to pay.

Yes, premium feature but I also use Google play rewards...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.paidtasks
Ive been doing it for some time and I have £29 credit, so I use premium apps or features but I have not spent a penny

Yeah, I was on Google rewards but stopped about couple of years ago. My location is often switched off to save battery and it stopped giving me surveys. They just gave me a tenner in credit in October in a deal they had going though which didn't cost me anything to claim.

Green Power vs JuiceDefender

Hello everyone!
I was just wondering between these two apps...
Which one works better for you and if will be great if you can share your configuration!!
Also, does anyone knows is any of these two disable whatsapp and gmail notifications?
Many thanks for sharing!
Cheers!
IMHO
I can answer about Green Power Premium:
It doesn't have such option like disable notifications. He does such thing like disables data connection for amount of time you chose (for me it is 15min) and then enables data connection for amount of time you choose (for me it is 2min)
Now my Galaxy Note works 2 times longer (from 10h to 20h)

WOW! double time!!
thanks for sharing!
I have been trying both, and while both of them seem to deliver a noticeable reduction in power draw (actually in my case a dramatic reduction), of the two I'd have to give my vote to GreenPower (I'm using the full version). The power reduction is at least as good as Juice Defender Ultimate, and the premium version is significantly cheaper.
Both work by turning various features (mainly Wi-fi/3g/BlueTooth) on and off automatically, but as result can cause delays in things like receiving push-mail and that kind of thing. With Juice-Defender I found this to be quite noticeable, but I'd have to say that with Green-Power I haven't really noticed it slowing down messaging or anything else.......
I've used them both - and deleted them both. I'd rather manage power myself.
i am using 2x Battery for me this is the best. simple and clean.
I usually use JuiceDefender but decided to try out Green Power. I really like it but I have a hard time getting my phone to sleep properly on GP.
i use widgetsoid and just enable my connection when i want it (wifi/3g)
i could never find the proper app that did exactly what i wanted- rather just have control.
going that was and using the phone an average amount my battery goes from 100 -> 75 from the time i wake up (7am) to the time i got to bed (12-1 am)
the 2500mah battery is pretty good!
With JuiceDefender I can get my phone to sleep 95%+ of the time but with GreenPower, my cpu is only sleep 40%+. Can anyone give me tips to get my cpu to sleep more to preserve battery?

Just out of interest, what happens when you browse the web and GreenPower has turned off the Data Connection?
Or you're watching a youtube video and it decides its time to turn off data?
Tried both versions and found green power premium to work better for me. (Price was a good point too.)
However the next day I found that if I left my phone for a while (Around 1 1/2 to 2 hours), the display would not turn on and If I called the phone it would not ring. Only way to fix this was to press the power button for 10 seconds to reset the phone.
Uninstalled green power to see if this was the cause and hasn't happened since.
Was wondering if something similar has happened to other people?
I had to go back to JuiceDefender since I couldn't get my phone to go into deep sleep with GreenPower.
Hi, i went for Green Power. I found it simpler to configure, more focused on the job. Juice Defender has to much possible settings and complexity, this makes it a great tool but might also lead to poor efficiency.
I have never used green power before but im on juice defender. I have experienced auto turn off by the note due to a set cpu settings that govern lower clock to cpu at a certain condition. Due to the big display on note i think lower cpu clock wont do it. Because of that the device turned off itself. Upon failure to operate. Hope this solves your problem
I have tried JuiceDefender but ultimately prefer to do everything manually. Some how I always feel the auto manage apps will have everything off precisely when you need it. I use the SwitchPro widget to quickly enable/disable the various radios from my home screen and it works great.
@ Aldragor
I have/had the same problem. In the beginning I thought that my launcher would be the cause for this problem, but after I disabled my Green Power Premium it hasn't happend since now.
Juice defender ultimate, the feature of switching 2g 3g on stock ROM alone was worth the price!
After figuring out how to config GreenPower properly, I went back to it.
I used JuiceDefender and thought it was great.... when it worked. However, I used it mostly as a scheduler with about 15% battery saving which I took as the icing on the cake.
I want all connections on during the day (peak) so I can take skype calls, etc.. When I'm home, I just want to periodically check for mails, etc (so have connection enable every 15min) and when I go to bed I don't want to be disturbed by emails, messages, etc but still want phone/sms on in case there is an emergency. And most of all, I didn't want to have to manually do that every day.
Problem was that it never really stuck to the schedules. This was the ultimate version but it was a crack as they never offered the ultimate on a trial. I wanted to evaluate the ultimate and buy if it did the job. So, it might have been a bad crack which caused the problem, but I guess I'll never know as I don't want to risk wasting the money if the schedule problem persists.
I am a lover of juice, it keeps he juice in and right

[Q] Battery life after last update, and what would you wish to see in future updates?

Hi everyone can you please tell me what your experience is in terms of battery life after the last update, cause for me it seems to have improved a lot, I woke up with the watch updated in the charger (left it to charge over night and the phone was connected to the wifi so it downloaded the app update on it's self and the watch was connected so it updated on it's own) and this is the 4th day of using it and now at 22:57 I finally got the 15% battery warning with high usage (3 of the days I used the watch to controll the music while I was at school so the screen was on 6h/per day in that app) and before this update I got the 15% message in the middle of the 3rd day with low usage (to read some notifications and answer some calls only)?
Also could you tell me what would you like to see this watch do in future updates (just to see what others think)? I would personally like to see:
-music control widget
-shake to wake
-double tap screen to wake (I don't belive this is possible/will be done)
-ability to see the clock when I am in any app (at least something like pressing the menu button and then pressing a button to show the clock for a couple of seconds)
-ability to open the notification drawer in any app (I would like to see this done like I said I would like to be able to show the clock)
-ability to set screen timeout (and perhaps with the "never" option)
-ability to set standby screen brightness (would really like to make it just a bit brighter so I can read the hour without having to turn on the screen when there is not a lot of light)
-ability to set screen timeout/brightness on a per-app basis (most surely won't see this, but I would love to make the messages app timeout longer and make the screen brighter when in it)
Also do you think we will get something like the Open SmartWatch project for the Smartwatch 2, and if yes when, cause I think we will, but it will be after Sony launches the Smartwatch 3 (or a bit before that at least, seeing how it was for the Smartwatch 1)?
I've only had the watch 12 hours or so but something I'd like is a watch face with seconds. I need it really for my job. I'd like to see the music app tweaked a bit too so you can choose between players at least.

In the music player smart extension click menu, also the seconds thing seems like it could be useful sometimes, and also they should update the curent watch face with date to make the writing bigger in my opinion, and perhaps a option for a secondary clock with the option to set a secondary location (I have that on my phone using the xDualStatusClock Xposed module so I know what hour is for a friend in the USA so I know not to distub him at night)
I just want the
battery percentage!! (of the watch of course)
my wishes (and i think the watch shouldve had this from the start):
-selectable screen timeout (5-30 seconds, in 5 second intervals)
-user defined/designed watch faces
setting the standby screen brightness is impossible i think, because the backlight is off, so there is no brightness to set

Yah, but I would like the option to turn it on and keep it on all times.
battery pertenctage %
I would love to see a weather clock. Every other smartwatch out there has this except the Sony ones.
Also a larger sized digital clock with black on white maybe with date would be nice too. A better music app could be nice too. Especially with the ability to del with the playlists.

AFAIK playlists are generally a proprietary feature of the music apps.
For Sony to deal with all possible music apps out there would be fairly impossible.
But there could be extensions that are specifically dedicated to some music players and that include playlist management.

[APP][2.3+] Unsleep: Keep screen on timer

Hello. Long time unregistered lurker, first time poster. I wanted to share my free app in case anyone else finds it useful.
Unsleep is a “keep awake” timer app that allows you to hold your device awake for a configurable period (1-300 minutes). I wrote the basis of it some time ago when I needed to hold my phone awake for lengthy unattended FTP download sessions (while I went off and did something else). My former device throttled the wifi as soon as it went into low-power mode. I also use the app during long online reading sessions.
I wanted the app to be timer-based in case I forgot to put the phone back into normal mode. It also does battery checks. It’s quick to start and quick to get out of your way.
Features:
- dropdown list of common times
- 2 configurable time slots
- remembers your last settings
- battery level monitoring (option)
- also prevent wifi sleeping (option)
Unsleep in the Google Play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nealc.unsleep
(the link above is not automatic because of my new noobiness. But cut and paste!)
There’s a video showing the usage. Nuts and bolts: as you might expect the app uses wake locks. SCREEN_DIM_WAKE_LOCK is held to keep the screen on. WIFI_MODE_FULL is held to keep the wifi active (if enabled).
Hope you find it useful! Feedback is really appreciated. Thank you.
Might come in handy .. Thanks

The combination of Greenify and Doze Settings seems to be TOO good

* sorry for my English.
Okay guys, I know many of us Android fanboys are obsessed of Dozing and Greenifying and Napping or whatever that keeps their phone deepsleep. I used to be one of them, but now I'm too old and following those guides from Amplify, Tasker, Greenify etc. or whatever it is, has turned out to be too complicated and ridiculous for me. A few days ago I took some time to investigate about doze and decided to mess up with the phone once more.
At first, I made my own doze settings as below:
randomseasons said:
Hi all, after hours and hours of reading (English is not my native language) and testing, I think I have set up a pretty good settings for Doze.
I'm not saying that other profiles are bad, but the matter is that some profiles were set up very early while all of us hadn't understood Doze thoroughly yet
Before we start, let's talk about what I'm aiming for. Basically, doze profiles are aiming for "decrease the time it takes for the phone to sleep, and increase the duration between awake checkups". But is that what we should look forward to? For me, it's reasonable to have my phone sleep soon, however I won't want my phone dead all the time, so I'm heading to "After I leave my phone, wait a short enough time then sleep, but don't let the phone sleep for too long, instead wake it soon enough while decrease the duration of the wakeups. Then after I leave it for a long enough time which really means I'm not using my phone, multiply the time between wakeups."
This way compared to other profiles, for daily use my phone stays more ready (shorter sleeping periods), but it also works less (shorter awake duration), and when I don't use my phone, it will actually catch up with the long sleeping states soon (higher multiply factor).
Here are my settings with that motto in mind:
*** all the parameters are in seconds ***
A) ------------------------------------------
Inactive Timeout - inactive_to: 180
Sensing Timeout - sensing_to: 0
Locating Timeout - locating_to: 0
Location Accuracy - location_accuracy: 50
- This one is easy. I want my phone to sleep right away after 3 minutes of being inactive (screen off), ignoring any motion. You can change the inactive timeout to whatever number that suits you. As we set the location timeout to 0, the Location Accuracy doesn't matter anymore, however I increase it to 50 although just because... I can do it , it's a safe number.
------------------------------------------------
B)-----------------------------------------------
Motion Inactive Timeout - motion_inactive_to: 60
- This number means if the phone checks and finds any motion, it will wait 60 seconds to check for any SIGNIFICANT (strong motion, different from light motion as in the sensing period) motion again. As we don't check for any motion in the beginning, this parameter is useless, however I still set it at 60 seconds, imagine for some particular reason the doze does check for motion (again, this won't happen if the app works as it's supposed to), then I don't want my phone to stay as long as 600 seconds (the default) value, and I don't want my phone to checks too often either, hence I want it to check again after one minute.
Idle After Inactive Timeout - idle_after_inactive_to: 0
- I want my phone to sleep right away after the inactive timeout elapses, I don't want it to wait to check for significant motion, so zero for this.
----------------------------------------------
C) -----------------------------------------------
Idle Pending Timeout - idle_pending_to: 15 seconds.
Max Idle Pending Timeout - max_idle_pending_to: 120 seconds.
Idle Pending Factor - idle_pending_factor: 2.
- This means: when the phone first wakes up (the criteria of when it will happen is in part D below), it will be kept awake for 15 seconds. The second times it will wake up, it will multiply by 2, which is 30 seconds, and so on. The maximum duration of wakeup is 120 seconds.
For me, I want to wake my phone soon enough (see in part D) and decrease the time of the phone being awake. I think 15 seconds for the first time is long enough. You can change it as you want, though :silly:
-----------------------------------------------
D) -----------------------------------------------
Idle Timeout - idle_to: 1200s (default is 3600)
Max Idle Timeout - max_idle_to: 21600s
Idle Factor - idle_factor: 2.
- After 1200s (20 mins), my phone will wake and check for 15 seconds (see part C), then the next time it wakes, it will need 40 minutes before waking up. The maximum time is basically as long as we want so 21600s is okay.
- I'm thinking to change this part to 900s or 720s and idle factor 3, which means that the phone will wake up sooner, at <=15 minutes mark, but after that, the sleeping duration will increase 3 times faster.
------------------------------------------
E) -----------------------------------------------
Min Time to Alarm - min_time_to_alarm: 3600.
This is the minimum time we will allow until the next upcoming alarm for us to actually go in to idle mode.
I don't get what this sentence says, my English sometimes sucks, but I guess it means if the next alarm is within the set number then the phone won't try to go into idle mode. I leave it default.
Max Temp App Whitelist Duration - max_temp_app_whitelist_duration: 20s
Max amount of time to temporarily whitelist an app when it receives a high tickle.
- Set this number whatever you feel like, for me I think 20s is enough.
MMS Temp App Whitelist Duration - mms_temp_app_whitelist_duration: 0
Amount of time we would like to whitelist an app that is receiving an MMS.
- Set this number whatever you feel like, I live in Vietnam, I don't ever use MMS at all so 0 for it.
SMS Temp App Whitelist Duration - sms_temp_app_whitelist_duration: 15s
Amount of time we would like to whitelist an app that is receiving an SMS.
- Set this number whatever you feel like, for me I think 15s is enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
BRIEF TEST:
1. Turned the screen off, sent an email to myself within 3 minutes (inactive timeout duration), the phone notified right away, no delay, 7 tries, worked every time.
2. Turned the screen off, waited at least 3 minutes, sent an email to myself, the phone didn't notify right away. If I turned the screen on, of course the email came right away. Out of 8 tries, 6 times the phone notified me between 15min - 20min mark, which followed closely to my rule. 2 times it notified me between 5 - 10 minutes. I think it was because some app woke my phone unexpectedly.
After 2 days, the observation showed me that my Doze Setting has been working decently, I'm quite satisfied. I will keep testing though :silly::victory:
Sorry for my bad English.

As some guy pointed out, some settings don't act in the way I thought they do, anyway I was having a fantastic result with these settings. My phone was deepsleeping often enough, it woke up after every short time, but each time was short, exactly my purpose.
Then a few days ago, I installed Greenify with xposed, and as it turned out, it's working TOO GOOD. , no matter how many apps I run, Facebook, Messenger, Maps, 8tracks, internet-based apps, clouds etc... (I only Greenify very few of of them), the phone changes its state to idle too strictly and too perfectly and I want it to be. For example, my current doze records were like:
8:00 - turned off my phone
8:04 - 8:19: doze // 14 mins
8:19 - 8:20: awake // 20s
8:20 - 9:00: doze // 40 mins
9:00 - 9:01: doze // 1 mins.
9:01 - 13:00: doze / 4 hours.
etc...
If you have read my doze configs, you can see that my phone now nearly perfect as my settings, I set it to doze after 3 minutes, then after 15 mins wake up 15 secs, then doze for 45 minutes.... etc... without any big difference. The weird thing is that music apps still works perfectly for me.
Now with Zenfone 2, my phone only drains 3% through the night, with all wifi gps 3G on, and I can still receive notifications ! Zenfone 2 users please come and praise me lol
It's been a long time since I last visited xda so I don't know if anybody has tried this, it would be a shame if I'm sharing what everyone already knew, but if not I guess this post would be very useful for many people.
Cheers, for a better and more simpler Android world ! :silly:

I do not use the "battery saving modes" under the top swipe menu. If you only apply parts of these settings, you will get worse battery life. I can reliabally get 10 hours with 30% brightness. I have gotten over 13 hours with more conservative settings, btw.

Yea lets gimp the phone....seriously why did you get the s9 lol. I use all my features i want turned on.. left phone off charger lost 3 % in 9 hours in standby mode. Pretty da$n good if ya ask me
Now why would i buy a expensive phone and turn all that off, i might as well use a flip phone seriously, i have all of it on from that list and i am happy with my AT&T S9 Plus getting over 8 hrs and half SOT with brightness at 95% and display at WQHD, that is nonsense to turn all that off.

If not enough space use SD card, there is a card reader in the phone for a reason.
NFC; off
Bluetooth; off
Secure folder; off
Edge lighting; off
Smart view; off
Dolby atmos; off
Now the important bits
Download and use google messages
Download and use google dialer. (You need to use the patched one for non nexus devices.)
Download and use nova launcher (I cant use Samsung experience without being displeased)
Download and use google contacts
Download and use gboard
Long press on power saving
Unmonitored apps> messages, phone, gboard, contacts
Always sleeping apps>
Every single app in the phone that you do not depend on auto updating in the background.
PS: I personally am offering a bounty for modifying the SD card to be internal storage without root. I tried the classic adb commands to no avail.

Thanks for all the tips and tricks. This is some great info!
I disabled a few things from your list that I won't use, left some others on.
Not sure why everyone is complaining and whining, but thank you!
LOL why would you buy an S9+ just to disable every feature and set it to 720p? Get a grip man
I can understand the desire, but making the SD adoptable storage negates having super fast UFS 2.1 storage. I could understand if we had slow eMMC or the like, but the storage in these phones are some of the fastest you can get, there's a real speed and usability advantage.

Every year it amazes me how many people use every single feature the phone has.... I never hear of anyone using some of these features on a daily but keeping them enabled obviously is the smart thing to do? Genius.... loving this Generation more and more by the day
Turning a bunch of those features off would drive me crazy. Smart stay is worth whatever small amount of battery it uses to keep the screen from constantly turning off while I'm in the middle of something. And it lets me get away with a shorter timeout, which probably saves more battery than Smart stay uses. Reducing screen resolution has, at best, a tiny impact on battery life. We've got the best screen in the business - why cripple it? LED Off? Yeah, why would I want to know when I have an email or text message, or a missed call? Let those people wait!
Block accidental touches uses far less power than having the phone constantly turning the screen on while it's in your pocket or purse. Smart lock? For sure. Who wants convenience when you can get an extra 10 minutes of battery life instead? And Google apps? Really? The savings in battery life, if there's any at all, is probably measured in seconds per day.
And there's no reason not to let the keyboard sleep. It will wake up as soon as you want to type something. And it uses zero battery when you're not actually typing (and damn little even when you are typing). Actually, most of the apps on your phone use negligible battery when they're not actually in use. Go to Settings / Apps and look at actual CPU and battery usage. Most of them will show zero.
A few of these are legitimate if you don't actively use the features, but aside from the network stuff most will have minimal impact on battery life.
AT&T S9 Plus all day at work 4G LTE been at work all day 95% brightness and resolution WQHD all my features are on at 62% battery SOT 3hrs and 46 min Outstanding battery life, so there's no need to turn all those features in the list which is nonsense.

So many assumptions here I don't know where to begin, but I'll just say it makes more sense to leave on all the features you're paying $900 for then to spend the $900 and use setting to turn the phone into a mid-range phone from 2015.

Agree with you, if people are not gonna use features and turn everything off, then a Smart phone is not for you buy a flip phone and you be all set , a 950.00 to turn all those features it's totally nonsense.

The level of arrogance in this thread is appalling.
If you're not interested in disabling things, move on. We don't need lectures about your usage.
Either disable things, or don't. Move on and grow up.
