Lineage OS questions before installing
I am looking to install the latest stable Lineage OS, which I believe is 14.1, on my rooted LG G3 D850 running Kitkat.
1) Can I still use and install apps from the play store ?
2) There are a few pre-installed apps from the LG OS that I like, mainly Visual Voicemail and Weather.
Can I somehow use these ?
3) When will Lineage support Android 8 or newer?
4) When a Lineage OS update is available, do I need to go through the complete install process and loose all my data ?
Thanks in advance
Tony

Check out the G3 development forum.

Until just recently, I didn't get out of the at&t forums, turns out that there's a lot of stuff going on over there for the d850. I'd known about Fulmics, but it hasn't been updated in about a year.
Hardstyl3r's got a LOT of rom threads. All being actively developed. Firebird also has an actively developed ROMs, crdroid, which I've just started trying out on my wife's old phone. Going to give the Lineage rom a try next.
Head's up though. On the crdroid rom, I'm experiencing an issue with battery drain due to wifi while idle. Hopefully, the problem will be fixed in hardstyl3r's next update which should be coming soon. It's something to do with upstream changes in the Lineage kernel, so I think it affects all Lineage based ROMs.
Good luck.
Lineage 15.1 is stable, by the way. 16 is in testing.
Oh. Your questions:
1. You can use play store.
2. Not sure about using stock apps.
3. 8 is stable. 9 is testing.
4. Pretty sure you can update and keep your data. Dirty flash at worst.
Thanks for the info. Really interesting stuff.
I will pop on over to the G3 development forum you mentioned

Im currently on stock 6.x but my phone is getting pretty full and bugs out sometimes so I think its about time I do a fresh flash.
Is it possible to do a nandroid backup to a NAS server? A 64GB nandroid backup to a already full phone is kind of hard.
Next, I can either go 6.x or 7.x
7's notification style and doze battery life optimizations seems nice. Automatic system updates using another partition also seem good but I imagine that can only be used on Pixel.
6.x I imagine though is more stable.
So which ROM?
I personally like Android nougat more than M. Also, i find it stable enough for daily driver. I have been switching between various Nougat ROMs to find out which i like more. I am finally settled with Cm 14.1 nightlies for now.

Resucrrection is way to bloated/heavy. Im sure our phone can take it but.
Looking for a Marshy? Sultans is your best bet. Simple. Stable. Clean. Reliable.
I tested almost all nougat roms. I'm stuck with legend right now, for me seems the most balanced and without serious bugs.
What about jgcaap's rom? Isn't it any good?
Official Nightly vs Jcaap vs Resurrection Remix, which is the best?
Thank you for threads like this - you can't ask in a particular ROM's thread about other ROMs... I tried the "unofficial" (CAF) 7.1.1 Ressurection Remix and I've had problems with the screen going black, doesn't mean anyone else will. So, I'm also looking for which 7.1.1 ROM to try next and want other's opinions because I just don't have time to try ALL of them myself, full wipe, install all the apps and data again, setup everything... For a day or two then on to the next over and over, but I do try to try at least a few.
The ONLY reason why I don't want 7.1.1 for certain right now is no Xposed for it yet. But, perhaps I can live without Xposed for a while as long as I have: root, adblock, privacy guard, profiles...
I'm thinking to try the "Official" 7.1.1 Resurrection Remix next? Opinions?
I recommend jgcaap's CM14.1. It's been very fast and stable with good battery life for me. He's also busy implementing Sultan's camera blobs, so camera quality is also going to be nice. Try it out for yourself, you won't regret it!
Which nougat ROM has the best battery life and the smartbar/fling navbar features?
I'm not giving up Xposed without that navbar LOL
Oh, didn't remember that Xposed isn't avalaible for 7.x yet.
Forget it. 6.x based ROMs then.
Any other NON CM based recommendations?

I'm having issues finding the ROM that works best for me too. I've had to resort to cm ROMs because I can't find an aosp based MM ROM that has the latest security patches. There's so few of them too . I'm currently on jgcaaps cm13 running lightning caf v50 color. Its pretty stable, but I can't for the life of me figure out why the darn thing bootloops immediately after setting selinux to enforcing. I've always set it to enforcing for security reasons in the past, and had no issues. Jgcaaps cm13 I think has the best camera hal of all the ROMs because its using color os. Not caf, sultan, or cyanogenmod (I don't even know how people consider cm hal usable).
For 7.1.1 I've tried some of the ROMs but they're missing way too many features IMO. The camera hal is one (most are using cm or caf, meh) the only 7.1.1 ROM I know of that possibly has color os hal is jgcaaps cm14. Another thing is xposed. I don't like to give google full permission over my entire system to record and do as they please, therefore I use microg. The only thing is to get micro g working, you need to have a ROM that either supports fake signatures in the developer options (ROM maintainer has to implement this, its not too hard) or an xposed module to force fake signatures. I haven't come across a single ROM here that has micro g support so I'm forced to use xposed. On top of that I use the xprivacy xposed module which is miles better at protecting your privacy than privacy guard or appops.
So yeah personally I think jgcaaps cm13 ROM is the best we have right now for MM roms. All the other MM ROMs haven't been updated with security patches in quite a while from my experience. If you don't use micro g or xposed then I would recommend jgcaaps cm14 for the color os hal, but I havent checked out his ROM in a while. I wish there was still some development on MM for our oneplus one because it seems I'm stuck between choosing discontinued MM ROMs for features + stability or actively maintained ROM with bugs + less features. I've been working on finding out how to merge security patches in to discontinued ROMs because of this. But I don't have much time in my life right now sadly.

danieldmm's TugaPower ROM has microG support out of the box and there's no need to install it as a system app. HAL is still CM but it is updated very frequently (I think it supports delta OTA updates) and has latest security patches too. Had absolutely no bugs for me when I used it last time :good:
Hi there...
I am looking for a rom that can give experience like OxygenOS 4. I mean, OxygenOS launcher, apps etc..
Dont ask me to try all roms because its too hard, lots of roms out there for opo.
Am just askin,g is there any rom out there like what i want?
It's impossible
There are no OxygenOS ROMs out there for the OPO. I don't get what you mean with "too hard". If you like the CyanogenOS stock experience you should try LineageOS 14.1 which is based on Android 7.1.2. And you just need an unlocked bootloader, a recovery and a zip. Nothing hard in this.

I know flashing stuffs since 2012, used 16 phones. Just introduced my self.
Anyway, I am using LineageOS 14.1 from 3 months, its fine.
But I love oxygenos more. Is halogenOS represent OxygenOs features?

No idea, never tried that. I once used the first OxygenOS when it first came out and didn't like it since it didn't have any customization that COS gave me. I love Cyanogen works and will stick with it forever ?

Hi everyone,
It's a simple question so, which is the best ROM for OnePlus One up until now?
I just probed ROM LineageOS 14.1 (Android Nougat 7.1.1), but Wi-Fi connection doesn't working well in my case.
Ranking of best ROMs for OnePlus One?
Thank you so much!

You might get some answers in the flasholic thread and in the what's the best rom thread.
Currently, as per my usage, the AOSPA, aka Paranoid Android has a rom with punchline features. Current version is the 7.2.1. I would suggest you to check that out.
I tried Resurection Remix ROM since few deys and it works nice, I don't see any major problem for now.
Lineage 14.1
Hi
I've been using Lineage 14.1 Since March 2017 with no issues whatsoever.
IDK what your wifi issues are, and i have not updated to any of the more recent builds but the one from March 3rd has been working flawlessly for me to the point that I do not even look for new ROMS.
The only real problem I have is in trying to update (which is why I haven't), and the camera, but open camera works as a good replacement for me.
Sorry I know this is not an answer to your question, just weighing in on Lineage on the OnePlus One, which I still think is the best.

Well, auto updating doesn't work.
I have read that is an issue so I found the rom and tried to dirty flash it manually out of recovery.
With auto update I got stuck in a boot loop.
With dirty flash i got blank screen for over an hour.
I use twrp multirom for recovery image, which could be part of the issue but i doubt it b/c it works fine in every other way.
I would play with it more but this is my primary phone, so I can't risk losing it for a few monthly updates.
Literally EVERYTHING else about the ROM I LOVE, and its still more up to date than most

Dirty flash works pretty fine here.I think you might have to change the recovery.
I realize that this is not the first topic to ask for custom ROM advice, and that the general advice is "try some and pick the one you like best". This thread is different in that I am specifically looking for a stable custom ROM. I was surprised to find out that LineageOS does not offer any stable builds for our device, nor does AOKP; they both only offer nightlies. Are there alternatives that do offer stable builds?
You can try Ressurection Remix. I used it last month and its pretty stable. Also this ROM recently (22.12.17) got update.
Also have great customization options too!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-resurrection-remix-n-5-8-2-t3587204
But if you want good Oreo 8.1 Rom then I suggest crDroid. I use it now and i am satisfied with it. Only flaw that i cant get Magisk root to work. (also recent update 21.12.2017)

me too Nougat will be preferable, so maybe someone with experience will say something, now I am on stable STOCK
do you want a 7.1.1 build (probably CM/Lineage 14.1) or Oreo (probably new aospex https://forum.xda-developers.com/20...xtended-rom-v5-0-t3681997/page53#post75051303 but camcorder not work in 8.x builds have to use footej or cameraFi2.) Holler if you need more pointers. LinOS 15.x is not supported at the moment even though the thread is there.
look at https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/pursuing-8-1-osprey-moto-g-2015-t3718416 for pointers to 3 other 8.x builds.
You can try this - Ressurection remix, very stable Nougat 7.1.2
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-resurrection-remix-n-5-8-2-t3587204
Resurrection Remix is not stable - according to the topic you link to, it's Beta
If Oreo roms do not have full functionality, then I'll have to stick to Nougat!
yep.
I have been running nightlies (12/15 and updated to the 12/29 yesterday just because I was messing with something) on Lineage OS 14.1, and as far as I'm concerned, it seems as stable as a CM 'snapshot'. This is my primary phone, and I haven't had a random reboot, or any issues to speak of like I was used to with older ROMs on previous phones. I've been on it for a few weeks, finally decided it was time to unlock the bootloader and get off of the stock ROM, since the device is well past the stock OTA window.
If you recall on CM, "stable" releases were pretty rare and usually came out well after the next android version was already released. I'm planning to update maybe once a month, I don't see the need to jump on every nightly, but occasionally something interesting gets added to an update.
I installed LineageOS 15.1 a few weeks back, but I'm having some bugs of which overheating and rapid loss of power seems to be the biggest problems.
I would like to try another ROM, but I'm not sure what is available to try. I saw articles on the AOSP Custom ROM, so I'm not sure if this might be a possibility.
Hi there, would highly reccomend official RR, Here
Thanks for the reply
Am I correct that you advise me to install RR-O-v6.0.0-20180415-zerofltexx-Official.zip? I installed the current LineageOS with TWRP. Should I install this OS in the same way?
Thanks!
Where do you get an official LineageOS 15.1 for s6?
Bluetooth call audio doesn´t work in RR Rom too.
I would like to downgrade to Nougat, but it´s very hard find any information about it.

There is no official RR on Nougat for s6. Use LineageOS instead.
Backup apps and data with titanium backup, flash lineage and restore apps.
I tried RR 6.1 but it got some problems here nd there
E.g. camera lag, doze not working
